I do feel the need to be honest and share that I wouldn't feel comfortable returning. The last dental cleaning I went to the dental hygienist was obviously put out and had an attitude about me missing the previous appointment. I can understand that to an extent, but you what - life happens! I paid the fee for missing the appointment, and it's her responsibility to get over it and still provide excellent care. It felt so ackward! Then - at the end of the teeth cleaning, this was the only dentist appoitnment I have ever been to EVER where a dentist did not come in and talk to me about my teeth, if I had any cavities, any concerns I had etc. I actually had to ask the dental hygenist to confirm that I didn't have any cavities. Finally - at the end of the appoitnment the dental hygentist was so obviously judgmental towards me when talking with the front desk worker about how I had private insurance...there's no need for that and really - what's it to her? I will never return here and do not reccomend. read more

This review is listed under Boulder Total Dentistry because they employ a Dentist with poor judgement: Dr. Allison Hinsberger. This review is directed towards Dr. Hinsberger. I was referred to Boulder Total Dentistry by a friend. My first visit was fine. They did a basic exam and took some X-rays. The exam indicated that I had several minor problems: A cavity, and a loose implant. I returned to the office to fix the cavity and the loose implant. Dr. Hinsberger managed to destroy the tooth with the cavity. She removed enough tooth material that she decided that she could not fix the cavity, and I would need to extract the remaining tooth and have an implant and crown built. ($6500 out of my pocket) The tooth that she destroyed was not causing any problems. At no time did she indicate that fixing the cavity might cause the loss of the tooth. She did not address the loose implant. I left their office that day, and have not returned. I went to my wife's dentist, who cleaned up the damaged tooth and was able to build a crown for that tooth. Conclusion: If you go to Boulder Total Dentistry, avoid Dr. Hinsberger. Rog Smith read more

Service was rude, bed behavior rough. I want to clarify This is under the new the ownership. I was late for 25 minutes, even I called twice on my way, I apologized and explained I didn't receive the normal short message confirmations and my calendar alerts did not go off. In fact the service literally last 10 minutes, from 12:28 to 12:38 PM. I walked out of the office by 12:40. I was charged $50 which I believe it is the late fee. When I was checking out, the receptionist at the front desk just said with a poker face, "$50 for now, and we will see in the bill for the rest. ", without any more words. I am with this office for my dental work for at least the past 8 years so are my kids, we are always on time, except these two recent appointments this month. Normally the wait time at this office is about 5', the longest was about 30 minutes and as patient and customers we didn't ever complain. So I was extremely disappointed! read more

I've been going to BT Dentistry for 29 years. Dr. Takemoto was my dentist for many years and I was sad to see her retire (but good for her!). The new docs/dentists are all great. They have squeezed me in when I had an emergency and showed great empathy and care when I had some major work done and an unexpected infection. They are thorough, caring and very professional. I've been seeing the same dental hygenist all these years and she's also very good. Front desk folks are also professional, good communicators. read more

I first stumbled into Bishop & Takemoto Dentistry in the fall of 2009 when I had a horrible pain and needed an emergency root canal. I arrived just before the office closed and Dr. Takemoto and her assistant stayed two hours late in order to treat me. Since then I've had a crown, a couple of cleanings, a couple of fillings, and been fitted for a night guard, all without pain or fuss. I don't have dental insurance so I pay cash for everything and the prices are reasonable for dental work. Dr. Takemoto is incredibly gentle, knowledgeable, and excellent, and she always seems to be in a good mood. That extends to the rest of her staff, who all know me by name and really seem to care how I'm doing. Getting an appointment is never a problem and they stay on time really well, while still giving each patient the time and attention s/he needs. The environment is friendly and comfortable. I recently moved to Denver, but I will make the drive back to Boulder for Dr. Takemoto. Once you find a good dentist, never give her up! read more

I didn't make it any further then the initial appointment stage, before red flags went up. They called, and I asked if they take carecredit. They said only if I get atleast $1500 worth of dental work. I just needed a tooth extracted. I said Carecredit has no minimum limit, they will pay for what I get, depending on my credit limit. Even if the bill was $10 Then they said they would do it if I agree to a comprehensive dental care, and they would raise my interest by 3% Not only do they have no say on what carecredit interest can be, that doesn't even sound legal, for them to say that. It is obvious, they are not interested in helping people, unless they can get alot of money out of them. I am sure they are great with the people that have been going there for years, and can afford whatever they wish. read more

I was lucky to go to Dr. Takemoto for all my dentistry since I was a young child. She and her wonderful team of front desk assistants and hygenists did everything to make me welcome and comfortable. Teeth cleanings are very thorough, and both hygenists and Dr. Takemoto give reliable advice on problem areas and treatment options. The whole staff did an excellent job relaxing me during fillings as a kid--I remember they brought out a huge teddy bear for me to hold. Dr. Takemoto has my highest recommendation. I would still be a regular if I hadn't relocated. read more

It is a bit of a challenge to review and I'll explain why: First, the office staff is fantastic; always has been. Very efficient and friendly. The ownership has changed and that is where I see the difference. The previous owners, Bishop and Takemoto were/are wonderful. I had been seeing them since approximately 2010. I no longer use them because of a "moral compass" disagreement with Colleen, one of the new owners. For 10+ years I have had my teeth cleaned every 6 months by my periodontist in addition to B & T, alternating every 3 months. This past Spring, I noticed that B & T invoiced the insurance company for a periodontal cleaning for me, which costs more than a "regular" cleaning. The incremental cost to me was only a few dollars but significantly more for the insurance company. When I contacted their office in May, the indicated an error was made that they would correct. When they invoiced me again in September, Colleen claimed that they were entitled to invoice for the higher-cost periodontal cleaning as I was seeing a periodontist for cleanings contemporaneously. However, the cleaning at BT was no different than the same regular cleaning I had been receiving there for many years. Both the duration and the process were the same. If fact, it was no different than any regular cleaning that I have experienced for the past 50 years. Her avarice was both disappointing and unacceptable to me. Perhaps as Colleen matures, she will see the error of her ways. I am unable to comment on the professional skills of the new dentists as I do not recall having anything performed other than a cleaning while under new ownership. read more

The whole office is top notch -- dentists, hygienists, and administration. This past week, Dr Shook took excellent care of a molar repair for me on short notice. My whole family have been coming to BT for more than a decade and have never had a complaint. (Before coming to BT I tried other dentists in Boulder and Westminster.) Dr. Takemoto is the best dentist I've seen. She is very fun, quick witted, honest and open. She tells you like it is, with a smile and a joke. She is clearly very knowledgable and her staff seems to love her, which i think is a good indicator about a dentist. In the last two years of going to Bishop + Takemoto i have had several cleanings, a crown, and a handful of fillings, but after the initial work, i am on track with healthy teeth! Before going to Dr. Takemoto i was going to a dentist's office which i felt was always trying to up-sell me on things, and i was relieved to find a welcoming office where the staff really seems to care about the patients. read more

I have been going to BT Dentistry for many years. I had gone to Doctor Bishop for the first time after YEARS of dental hiatus, but he and all the rest of the team had made it so pain-free and embarrassment-free that I have been coming to this office ever since. Recent retirement of Doctors Bishop and Takemoto had me a bit worried, but I needn't have worried at all. When I went in for my dental hygiene appointment, I was greeted with the same cheerful, personable staff, and got to meet one of the two new doctors (Doctor Naomi), and my hygienist Jill Friese was top notch as usual from this office...thoughtful, gentle, very professional. read more

The service was fantastic and I loved Dr. Takemoto. What I didn't realize and what they didn't tell me was that I was in a plan that required me to pay extra, when I was going into it with the impression that my insurance would pay all of it. They said that they could not tell me how much it would cost until AFTER I went through the procedure and then they billed me. I wish I had known this before hand. I tried to get the amount lowered or changed to just cash but they would not be understanding and help me out. They said it was the same price if I paid with insurance or just cash. Sadly, I am not going to be able to go to them anymore because of this. I wish I was informed of this before I had to pay them. Be sure to call your insurance company before going to see them, because they will not help you with the cost information. read more

I didn't like Dr. Takemoto at all, looks like she wants to make advantage of you. She looked at me and created a huge and expensive treatment plan without even explaining what should be done first, what's next. I went to another doctor and it turned out that some procedures were totally unnecessary. My friend had the same experience with her. So, I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. read more
