DO NOT go to this Dentist office. I had a procedure done that was covered by insurance. The insurance company told them I was covered and they would have to re-bill the insurance company under a different group number. A case was opened. The billing department did not do as they were told and put the balance on my account and threatened me with collections. I am having to go back to the insurance company again because they refuse to do their job. I have called repeatedly and the won't take my call. Complete scam. BEWARE. read more

Not good. If I could give a negative star I would. I waited a long time to get the appointment. When I arrived they didn't know why I was there. Once they found out I was not there for an expensive procedure just an easy filling of a veneer, I waited 15 minutes for Dr West. I finally had to leave without getting my filling. You cannot expect people to wait for that long. You have to respect your customers time. I have referred people to your office but will not do it again. Nothing but great things to say! I had a different dentist in Lafayette, but a dental emergency led me to BCS. They took care of me immediately and scheduled an appointment for two root canals with an endodontist (Mark Wood) that they partner with in the same building. I was on an antibiotic for a few days prior to the endodontic treatment, which was also a stellar experience, and following these root canals walked upstairs to BCS to finish the procedure with fillings on the crowns the endodontist worked through. I was in and out for two rear molar root canals and follow-up treatment in two hours, start to finish! I've since been back for the new patient process, full x-rays, exam, scheduled cleaning, and the experience was as good as any I've ever had. Everyone person on BCS staff has been welcoming and capable. They also seamlessly handled insurance billing, and their prices seem affordable with or without insurance. read more

Dr. Gordon West is a fraud. He likes to take your money and provide no work for it. After reading so many of his bad reviews they all involve him taking people for their money. That's what this office stands for which is truly sad. How can you run a business or even sleep at night. His staff is always rude and if you ask Gordon West any questions or want something changed he avoids you at all cost. I went to see Dr.Gordon-West for Veneers, and this was the worst experience I ever had with a dentist. Intially, he quoted me 12k for my veneers, but after he did the work he added 5 thousand more to my bill. . When I reached out to him, he refused to give an explanation, as to why this was done. He took ZERO accountability and said there was nothing he can do about it. The work was already done! Unbelievably shocking! This is not right, this is not okay. . And I am very unhappy with the way my smile turned out as well. I am so disappointed in this place. No integrity, No Trust! . Gordon West is a nice guy and that's great, but be prepared to open your wallet. During my initial appt, he took a lot of pictures that alarmed me...maybe a little more than they should have. I was freaked out and he responded by telling me that I would need sedation and a ton of appts. Since I don't have a lot of time off that I can take for a sedated teeth cleaning, I need a dentist who will put me at ease and not be afraid to work on a nervous client. After getting a second opinion, I found out that the hairline fractures in my mouth are years away from needing attention. (After my appt with West, I walked out of the office crying and afraid to floss.) This is a big, money making dentist. They seem quite thorough, but maybe too much selling and pressure for my taste. I am happy with my small office dentist. They are hard to find nowadays tho. read more

I've been going to Dr West for a couple of years, now he's so busy, he doesn't need my money. He is much more expensive than other Dentist and their billing system leaves too many open questions for me. Today was my last visit. It was an appointment I made 2 moths ago, I had to get a sitter and all that and blah, blah... After waiting 20 min past my appointment time they took me back to the THE CHAIR and I was tense, cause waiting to be in the Dentist sucks. The tech woman, teeth cleaner asked me if I want to reschedual because I need to be out by 3pm and she couldn't do it. I was too tense part way through and decided to leave and reschedule. I was not rude, I let them know I was not happy with the wait and the last words from my tech were "I work too hard to put up with this." Well guess what, I pay too much money for that sort of service. They wanted to give me a new appointment for Oct, two months from now. Dr West has completely transformed my fiance's smile with a full restoration. He smiles so much now!!! Dr West has also worked with us on a payment plan. I set up an initial consultation to receive sedation for any procedure due to extreme jaw pain. They told me they took my insurance but that sedation isn't covered and it would cost an initial fee of $360 that we cover me for any additional sedation in the future. The day after my dental visit (which did include sedation), they called and told me that they don't take my insurance and I now owe them an additional $400. I was never told that my type of insurance was not covered. They did offer me an "introductory offer" for a $75 cleaning but I am still out $360 as I will never go there again for any sedation. read more

I have so many complaints. If you read anything here, find another dentist to go to. I have been shamed for the shape of my bite when trying to get a mouthguard (5 visits and still no mouthguard). I have straight teeth because I wore braces as a kid. It's not like my bite is that unique. Secondly, Dr. Johns wanted to do a bunch of orthodontics on my son at double the cost of the orthodontist and double the pain. Dr. Johns also did a procedure on my husband that didn't work and caused a lot of pain and cost a lot of money. Meanwhile Dr. West is never around and is letting his practice go down the tubes. Save yourself the frustration and suffering! I am still waiting for a refund for that mouthguard. They promised they'd take care of it and now after I called I learned that it is late but coming. BTW: If you are late on a payment, they are quick to jump on you but you have no recourse when they screw up. Awful experience! read more

Let me preface this by saying that I am absolutely terrified of going to the dentist! I will admit, what first drew me to their office is that they offer sedative dentistry, for nervous nellies like me, at a reasonable cost. I had been procrastinating going to the dentist, so this is the push I needed. For drilling and other difficult procedures, you have the option of oral sedation the night before and during your visit. I was given the option of nitrous oxide for my more routine visit for only $40 additional. Boy was it worth it. The most relaxing dentist visit EVER. I was not a total nervous wreck and left feeling relaxed and happily booked my next cleaning appointment. Marcie and the rest of the front desk staff were great. There was zero waiting in the waiting room, they were ready for me. I didn't see anyone else waiting either. There was a Bronco game that night, so everyone was sporting their casual Bronco gear--love it! Stephanie took absolutely great care of me. As I've mentioned I can be a bit nervous (understatement) and she was extremely patient with me. She calmed my nerves while giving all my X-rays, cleaning, flossing, scraping, etc. etc. She seemed very skilled at what she does and had lot's of plaques on the wall to prove it! Dr. West was great as well. He had a nice laid back "chair side" manner, super friendly and likable, and all the while professional in assessing the state of my oral health. I will be going back to Dr. West's office every six months (I promise). I'm also looking forward to an upcoming consultation appointment to talk to Dr. West about my options for some "prepless veneers". From what I've heard, he does great cosmetic work. The facility seems top notch and the equipment modern. At the end of my appointment a laser was used on the tops of my teeth to find small cavities that x-rays don't pick up. Many of these are tiny and nothing to be concerned about, but they still track them, to keep an eye on their progress. I was impressed by this. I've never seen the used of lasers at previous dentists. Overall, very impressed by Dr. West, staff and facilities! Top notch! read more

I don't write many positive reviews, but after reading the other Yelp comments, I felt compelled to write. My experience with Dr. West and Dr.Johns has been the best. After an accident last summer where I damaged all 4 of my front teeth, I have many interactions with both docs and office staff. Throughout the process, I've been treated with care and respect. The entire office has gone above and beyond to provide care for me. I have had lots of dental work over the years and they are a top notch shop. The crowns that have been replaced by Dr. West have been perfect. I've never been to a more skilled dentist than Dr. West and Dr. Johns. read more

I have been going to Dr. West for many years. His staff are always pleasant and knowledgeable. I get thorough cleanings done from the friendly and qualified hygienists. Dr. West has placed crowns that were comfortable from the beginning. I was recently fitted in the office for an oral appliance to treat sleep apnea. It will be a nice break from the CPAP machine! His staff have been diligently working with my insurance company to try and get this appliance covered. They have been a great help. I've been going to Dr. West since 2008 and have never had anything but a wonderful experience. Dr. West is knowledgeable, creative and listens to your concerns and questions to make sure you have fun understanding of your options and that he has understanding of your concerns. He is always implementing the newest and best technology and practices into his office, ensuring that you are getting the latest and greatest treatment. The staff have been nothing but wonderful, Rhonda and Janessa are two of the best hygienists I've ever had. Cleanings are a breeze and the tv's and massage chairs are a nice touch for an activity that few people enjoy. If you're considering cosmetic work or have a complicated case, this is the place to go. Upon setting up an initial appointment with this practice, I SPECIFICALLY asked them if they were part of my dental insurance provider network and I was assured they were. I then had an initial appointment and back to back days of deep cleaning. They charged me just about $1200 on the spot saying they'd submit the insurance claim. I then got ANOTHER bill from them for a little over another $100 because they are NOT in my network. To not know what insurance plans you're part of as a provider and then to charge this RIDICULOUS amount for what was essentially 2.5 hours of treatment and then send ANOTHER bill for their mistake is pathetic. My husband and I have been using Dr. West as our dentist for probably 13 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about him and his staff. Though he can be more expensive than some dentists, I have been very pleased with his professionalism, his dental expertise and the way he and his staff treat me. My last dentist was so uneducated in pain management, I left sobbing after he added a crown. I have never experienced that with Dr. West. He has always listened when I expressed concerns. In the last couple of years, we moved all four of our children from their pediatric dentist to Dr. West. They have also expressed that they really like going to see him. The last few times I visited Gordon West for a routine checkup I waited over 25 minutes in the waiting area (this is after leaving work and hiring a babysitter for the appointment). Following that, I was told the dentist was busy and unable to do my exam. At my last appointment I left without x-rays or an exam after a very disappointing cleaning (my mouth felt gritty and dirty). Additionally, the services are much more expensive than many other dentists in the area, as well as the Boulder area. I am in the market for a new dentist if anyone has recommendations. read more

This dentist office is very dishonest. They wait to tell you that your insurance won't cover your cleaning until after you have had a cleaning, ordered more services out of pocket that support their business, and referred your spouse to their practice. When I called to see whether they took my insurance and were accepting new patients, their secretaries told me explicitly yes as they checked my plan online. Then, they checked my dental plan again after my cleaning and told me that I had "amazing dental insurance." Then, a couple weeks later I get a $300 bill in the mail for my cleaning because they found out that my plan had stipulations that they didn't notice earlier. No one called me back for *months* to help me resolve the bill, so I assumed that they had decided it was their error (as it was indeed their error) and would wave the fee. Instead, they sent me to collections. I would say, steer clear of this dentist unless you don't mind their dishonesty. read more

My family of six have been patients of Dr. West's for about seven years. It feels like seven years of an abusive relationship, where things keep getting worse, but you keep hoping that it will improve. DO NOT USE HIM. He ignored my daughter when her anesthesia did not work. He way, way overcharged for my sons fillings. I still have the estimate of it being just over $100 after insurance. After the work was done he sent a bill for over $1,000. I checked around at other dentist. They all charged less with no insurance. I have continuously been handed toothpaste and charged $30 for it and being charged for bizarre and unnecessary things. The guy is into up charging. Beware. The last straw was the last two times when I waited over one hour to just see him. I gave up and left. My husband called and Dr. West told him it was because I refused some x-rays. Passive aggressive? Don't use him. This has been a huge disappointment. Thank goodness other doctors don't act like this. read more

Dr. West is not my regular dentist, I went there for my veneers in September 2013. I paid cash knowing my insurance does not cover cosmetic work. May 2014 I got a small chip on one of my front veneers. Went back to Dr. West to get that chip fixed. Before he started the work, I asked him and his assistance for the cost because I'm paying cash. He said since it's just a minor fix then won't be too much. The assistance said it'd be about $100. I paid about $85 after my chip was fixed. To my surprise, I received a bill for an additional $450 four months later (September). My wife called their office and the receptionist said it was for a filling. I did not have fillings done. She later said my bill was actually $500+ and my portion was $85 so they billed my insurance the rest but was denied. I called and spoke with her the following day and the receptionist kept telling me to call my insurance. Of course I did not waste my time calling my insurance because they know, and I know that my insurance does not cover this procedure. I went to their office to talk with Dr. West and the assistance who gave me the cost. Of course, Dr. West did not want to talk to me. The assistance's excuse was just the same as the receptionist's...billing insurance. She talked with Dr. West and he said I can pay half of the bill. I did not want to waste any more time arguing with them so I paid and left. Will never go back. I don't mind paying for a service but it's the principal behind it...Dr. West and his assistance lied to me...knowing that my insurance will not pay. If they would of told me that the actual cost was $500+ and my portion was $85, then I'd understand but to tell me something and later do something else....that is dishonest. I still don't know why my procedure was billed as a "filling" when that is not what I had done. I did not want to waste my time in their office asking for that clarification. I'm also disappointed that before getting my money, Dr. West have time to speak with me but after that he did not care to resolve this issue. read more

I think that Dr. West and his staff are top shelf. From personal experience I know they are very price competitive and in most cases are less expensive than other area dentists. They deliver high quality work. Laura a recent addition to the office is simply the "best." I was having issues with a temporary crown and Dr. West and Laura didn't hesitate to open the office on a Saturday morning to help me with the issues at hand.
