After insurance, billed $50 for my son's cleaning. My dentist has never billed me for a cleaning. Avoid

Jeffrey Winnicki is simply the best dentist I have ever been to - I highly recommend The Dental Shoppe on H287 and Baseline in Lafayette.

I needed an unexpected "emergency" visit. They squeezed me in before closing on a Friday evening. Wonderful office.

I came in needing a root canal and was nervous, but they made me feel incredibly comfortable from start to finish. Dr. Woods reassured me the whole time, even when I told him I usually pass out after shots--something that's caused other dentists to stop working on me in the past. Not here. He kept going, stayed calm, and made sure I was okay. The procedure was quick and painless, and honestly, I couldn't believe how smooth it went. I've never felt this relaxed in a dentist's office. Highly recommend!

Dr. Wood is a treasure. Unlike so many other dentists, I never felt rushed or talked down to. We came to a mutual decision that I felt comfortable with, and I never doubted that Dr. Wood had my best interests at heart, even if it meant turning down business for him. The lady answering billing questions was not very helpful and at times pretty short. Insurance can be scary and uncertain, and as a patient I want to know (1) what the procedure is going to cost, and (2) if there's uncertainty around costs, what they are, and how they might be resolved. Having a patient and empathetic billing person would go a long way to helping this.

I had a tooth…read morepulled today (the result of a bad experience with another dentist a year ago), and I never even felt the tooth come out. It was over so quickly and painlessly that I was startled. Dr. Schafer is very patient, kind and obviously competent. Yesterday, when the office is supposed to be closed, I got a call from Molly, the office manager, in response to my vm; she followed up this morning with another phone call to let me know what to expect when I came in for an appointment. Shannon is the person who has cleaned my teeth previously and offered dental hygiene advice. Caroline assisted Dr. Schafer this morning. My sincerest thanks to you all. Nothing but great things to say! I had a different dentist in Lafayette, but a dental emergency…read moreled me to BCS. They took care of me immediately and scheduled an appointment for two root canals with an endodontist (Mark Wood) that they partner with in the same building. I was on an antibiotic for a few days prior to the endodontic treatment, which was also a stellar experience, and following these root canals walked upstairs to BCS to finish the procedure with fillings on the crowns the endodontist worked through. I was in and out for two rear molar root canals and follow-up treatment in two hours, start to finish! I've since been back for the new patient process, full x-rays, exam, scheduled cleaning, and the experience was as good as any I've ever had. Everyone person on BCS staff has been welcoming and capable. They also seamlessly handled insurance billing, and their prices seem affordable with or without insurance.

We were referred by our dentist for a root canal after a failed root canal at a different office…read more The office communicated their process, including insurance coverage, and possible charges but said they would reverify after the doctor had our consultation. The front office went above and beyond, making us comfortable of what might be expected. They were all very polite and kind. I felt comfortable.

When you are planning to get a root canal treatment here, make sure to treat the paper they give…read moreyou to sign SERIOUSLY because they lack the expertise and can easily fuck things up. Doctor, if you are reading this, next time be more cautious on your decision I guess and if you really mess things up please try your best to do the right thing. Maybe not charge the patient 104 dollars for nothing but pain. I visited Dr. Jon D. Libbesmier for endodontic therapy, asking beforehand if he believed the procedure was likely to be successful. He assured me it would be, so I went ahead with it. However, after enduring an hour and a half of intense pressure and discomfort--my jaw was sore from being open too long, and I could barely move my mouth--he informed me that the procedure had failed. This was after his initial confidence that it would work. Despite this failure, he said he would only charge me for the consultation, which my insurance covers at 80%. I thought, "At least it's not costing me too much financially, maybe just $16," and went to the front desk, still in significant pain and unable to speak or think clearly due to the numbing shots. The bill was $58, which confused me, but I was too weak and in too much pain to argue, so I paid it, planning to review the charges later. After a challenging recovery that involved significant pain, medication, and sick days, I discovered that an additional charge for a pulp test was added to my bill. This extra test made the entire consultation not covered by my insurance. As a result, I ended up paying $104 out of pocket, with no treatment done and my tooth in worse condition than before. I consider myself reasonable and am willing to pay for services I receive. All I ask is that the extra charge for the pulp test be removed, and that I only be billed for the consultation fee. However, when I tried to discuss this with the front desk, I was threatened with being sent to collections if I didn't pay. Avoid this dentist's office at all costs. They lack the necessary skills and professionalism, and their services are a complete waste of time and money. The total cost of the endodontic therapy was supposed to be $459 with my insurance, but because they failed the procedure and charged for something I didn't agree, I'm left paying $104 for nothing. It's ridiculous.
