I've had extensive care at Experience Dental Boulder, including 6 crowns and multiple fillings (4-5) upon becoming a new patient. The billing has been the worst part; my crowns were high $x,000 in total; some portion of the work was deemed unnecessary by insurance and not covered. Without me knowing about this they tried to dispute it with Delta for almost a year, and then they 'sprung' to my eyes a $x,000 super-late scary "will go to collections charge on me". The problem is they can't produce an invoice, want me to pay by CC over the phone, their email is a somewhat-shady-seeming @gmail.com email address. It took a month to get an invoice produced with services rendered or an insurance breakdown of what was covered. Some yellow flags for me personally are plaques in the office not about Dental achievements but about winning business plan competitions, aggressively cross selling sealants, whitening, sleep apnea treatments, mouth guards, etc. There are multiple signs asking for Google reviews, mentioning staff members by name so they can get $5, and overall for my taste it's a too-modern, over-optimized dentists' office with a D+/C- back office. read more

My experience here was awful; do not trust this office at all. I am a college student here at CU, and because of my schedule was not able to drive back down to my usual dentist for my bi-yearly cleaning. I looked this place up and booked an appointment. One, it took over a month to get an appointment. Two, the experience was completely strange. I sit in the chair, and immediately get told there is a credit card I can get to pay off treatment. Then they start my cleaning off by taking x-rays and tell me they will not be polishing my teeth because it is against ADA recommendations. Im not a dentist, but I have had almost 50 cleanings in my life with over 4 dentists in the span of 21 years, and all of them have done it the same way, with polish. Finally, they never asked me if I wanted fluoride. Dr. Adam comes in and tells me I have 7 cavities and sealants that are all in pretty bad shape. He then proceeded to take a ten-second look in my mouth without an explorer and confirmed the seven cavities. I've had a cavity before, and I vividly remember my previous dentist taking a hard, long look and poking around, so again I found this odd. Following the diagnosis, I was provided a very aggressive treatment plan that was estimated to be around 500 dollars. He even showed me my X-rays, and I saw no severe decay, so I was really confused about how I had this many cavities of such severity (I last went to the dentist in August 2025, my appointment was feb 2026). I told them I'd give a call back for a filling, since they were insisting I get this done asap. Luckily, my aunt is a hygienist, and her boss is a family friend, so I sent over my treatment plan and the X-rays for a second opinion. My aunt's boss (a dentist), my aunt, and even another hygienist at the office said to go to someone else because the treatment plan seemed SUPER aggressive for my X-rays, which, in their opinion, showed no sign of cavities, at best areas to be watched. However, they advised me to set an appointment with my dentist at home, as she's been checking my teeth for years, and an in-person visit is best for diagnosis. Eventually, I got around to it and finally went to my dentist back home. She looked at my teeth, the x-rays, and the treatment plan, and told me that I had no signs of cavities at all, and my x-rays showed nothing. I even told her about my appointment at Experience Dental, and she laughed because it was so ridiculous to suggest polishing was bad, not offering fluoride, and not using the proper diagnostic tools. Additionally, she added that my treatment plan included a mouthwash used for extreme gum decay and irritation, which I had NO signs of, only adding more to the cost. Overall, do not go to this office!!!! They clearly try to take advantage of college kids and individuals who are not knowledgeable about dentistry by masking unnecessary treatments as urgent and mandatory. I'd understand msidignosis of one cavity, but seven?!? On top of the aggressive treatment, unnecessary medicine, and overall negligence of this practice, it was all just unacceptable. I became a patient at Experience at the end of October 2024, because it was painful to bite on one tooth, and Experience had a much higher Google rating* than my previous dentist. By the time I fired Dr. Altdorfer (January 8, 2025), I had pain in three teeth and couldn't eat anything crunchy or chewy on either side of my mouth. In between, Dr. Altdorfer installed one crown to treat my tooth pain, and 4 fillings which he assured me were necessary. But 2 of the fillings had problems. They hurt to bite on or floss, and one of them was sensitive to temperature changes. I complained to Dr. Altdorfer twice about this (and some continuing pain in the crowned tooth) over the course of December and January, and he assured me that everything was just fine and I was just being extra sensitive. Well I finally got to a new dentist, who found out that things were very definitely not just fine, and took the x-rays to prove it (see below). Turns out, Dr. Altdorfer had left literal holes ("voids" is the technical term, if you're interested) in my teeth. A Google Search will show that these voids are known to cause pain while biting and sensitivity to temperature. Even when presented with evidence of the voids, Dr. Altdorfer continued to insist that I was just being sensitive and the filling pain would probably go away on its own. The pain did go away, but not on its own. I had my new dentist redo the fillings and the biting pain was immediately gone. I actually have more complaints than this (they cancelled one of my appointments and forgot to tell me!), but this review is already getting long. If what you want from a dental practice is massage chairs in the waiting area, Experience is for you. If you want consistent, high-quality, dental work, I suggest looking elsewhere. *A note on reviews. Experience says they give $10 to staff members if you mention them in a 5-star Google review. And they reminded me about this on my way out. It felt like I was leaving a restaurant without tipping, like I might be offending them by not giving them a good review. read more

More like Bad Experience Dental. Entirely FAILED the annual dental exam that every beginning dental student knows is: x-rays, scans, physical exam, and cleaning. "Forgot" to schedule the cleaning. Instead of just doing the annual exam and cleaning, Dr. Adam tried to bully me into full mouth sealants which are entirely out of pocket. AVOID this practice which is in a closet in the back of a construction zone for a reason! read more

Everyone in this practice is very friendly. Scheduling was easy and covid safety protocols are still in place. The office manager was very helpful with confirming benefits on mutliple procedures and showed me a lot of grace and patience as I sorted out an issue with my FSA payment. My dental technican was very gentle, kind, and efficient. My dentist was also very kind, thorough and efficient. One aspect of my care that I really appreciated was a more natural process, per my request. On top of that, the team fit me in to have my required treatments the same day. I also valued the no-pressure process. So many practices upsell to the point it's confusing as to which treatments you really need. This dentist does not upsell, is very reasonable, and I felt very clear on the treatments I needed today vs others I may need to consider in the future. While I don't have any anxious feelings about dental care, if I did, this would be my place. They have massage chairs and other relaxing spa aspects to ensure a peaceful experience. (Mind you, I didn't have any pain from the cavities beforehand and never experienced pain like this from a filling from previous dentists) I followed up and had a bad feeling when all the dentist did was grind my tooth down so that it wouldn't cause pressure from me biting down. Although it gave me temporary relief from biting down (nothing in mouth), even after waiting again, I still could not eat food on that side because of the pain it caused. Went to a different dentist, and turns out the same tooth they put a filling in NOW required a root canal because the filling was soooo close to the pulp, which is what really caused the pain. Even if I needed a root canal before Exp. Dental filled the cavity up, it is quite unprofessional that they happened to miss that on the x-ray and go with a filling anyway. *sigh* they were really nice though. read more

I am so grateful I found Experience Dental. Not only is the staff warm and friendly, Dr. Adam's assistant made me feel at home, and when it came time to get the procedure done that I had been avoiding for a long time (due to a poor dental experience at my last dentist) I honestly felt so taken care of. Dr. Adam was gentle and intuitive but very precise, which calmed my nerves, and the dreaded procedure was actually a walk in the park and was over before I knew it. I have felt so satisfied coming here, and this is my new dentist. And wow I'm already feeling so much better today. The office is gorgeous and equipped with 5 massage chairs), their aromatherapy menu makes me happy, and the sage walls are bright and inviting. Improper Billing! Horrible Customer Service! Stay Away! Initially called Experience Dental to ask if they were included in my insurance network. They called my Insur Company and were told I was. Had work done - no problem. Months later, Exp Dental calls to say the Insur Co made a mistake and I wasn't covered, but the initial call was recorded, the Insur Co said they understood their mistake and I should file a reconsideration letter citing all of this. Exp Dental asked me to pay the total bill and I asked them to wait until my claim was accepted because this was not my error - I acted in good faith, did my due diligence and this was an error between the 2 companies (I had already paid all of the deductibles). I filed the letter and the Insur Co wrote back asking for all records from Exp Dental. Exp Dental responded to me that they would send all info to Insur Co. Insur Co finally responded with denial of claim because Exp Dental did not respond with the requested info. Exp Dental then submitted my bill to a collection agency. read more

I do NOT recommend Experience Dental. I came to get a cleaning and left with a bill over $400. I was charged $67 for "oral hygiene instructions" which I'm very unsure what on earth my instructions were as I did not get ANY instructions, except to make sure to floss everyday? Then I was charged over $200 for gingival inflammation, which there was no treatment for except, again, to floss everyday? On top of this, last time I went to a (different) dentist (about 8 months prior to my Experience Dental visit) I was told I had two suspicious spots that looked like they could turn into cavities. Then at my appointment at Experience Dental, the dentist told me I have a couple cavities. I thought "okay, makes sense" and when I went to pay for my visit they gave me my treatment plan. My treatment plan claimed I had 13 cavities. 13! I called the dentist over to ask for clarification and she just said, "well you have several spots" and then left. So now I am going to a new dentist for a second opinion and try to deal with my $400+ cleaning fee. read more

My daughters were over due for their cleanings and exams. When I called the office, they were able to get us in very quickly and even made sure our dental insurance would pay for the appointments. When we got there the office was very clean and everyone was so nice. My girls loved the massage chairs! Dr. Habil was so good and nice with my young girls, she explained everything that she was doing and seeing and put them at ease. She could convince my girls to brush their teeth. These guys are top notch! I am an ongoing current patient of the Thornton clinic. Cassandra and Norma are super friendly and kind. They always check in if you do not respond to the appointment reminder email or text in which I am so grateful for because I am not good at remembering things. I want to note that I am going on 6 months pregnant and they have continued safely and cautiously working me in the schedule for necessities. Dr. Quadi is very gentle and professional. Its very clear she is skilled and knows her stuff! She is very well kept and always remembers me which is a huge plus. Very personable! Dr. Jeremy Altdorfer and Destiny make an excellent team. They are hilarious once you get them rolling and fit together like Peanut Butter and Jelly. She knows exactly what to anticipate from the Doc and most definitely brings her A game to work. A confident Doctor is a needle in a hay stack and Dr. Jeremy Altdorfer amazes me with his perfect calculation of knowledge, sensitivity and precision when working on me. This dentist is a butcher. Me and my husband came to him because of his deal for free teeth whitening with your exam. At our first visit he told us we had some cavities to fill. Our teeth were perfectly fine with zero pain when we went in to see him for a routine exam. He Filled a couple cavities for me and for my husband we were very worried after the dental assistant seemed like she had no clue what she was doing and even admitted that she was "new to this system of filling teeth, Although she has been doing at 28 years" she clearly did not know what she was doing and was struggling just to do some simple feelings. She then told us we could go after the dentist checked her work the dentist never even bothered to come in and check her work. We both left in excruciating pain called the dentist A couple days later and he told us to come back in for a check up. He told me that my pain might be because I need a root canal in a tooth that was 100% fine before he touched it and filled it. Fast forward to a month later it's Friday afternoon and I am in excruciating pain from the tooth that it's just getting worse and worse that the dentist supposedly fixed I've been calling all weekend there after hours emergency number leaving messages and no one has got back to me please do not go to this negligent dentist he is 100% messing up peoples teeth so he can create work for himself. My husband has perfectly good teeth and now cannot even bite down to chew on the filling that the doctor did for him. If it was just me having issues after the filling I would've given it the benefit of the doubt but my husband too?! now that I am in excruciating pain and obviously need surgery to fix whatever the dentist did to me, And my husband also cannot properly eat now because of whatever the dentist did to him only time will tell if he will need surgery also.... I wish I would've read these reviews on yelp before we went to him big big mistake sounds like he is doing this with many other people do not go to the butcher of a Dentist.
