I still got a knock on the door, a steaming cup of coffee and homemade biscotti waiting for me in the dining room. Jim and Jean were wonderful hosts; and the Victorian house they designed and built together is magnificent. My dinner plans fell through one evening and they graciously invited me to join them. It was a lovely meal with great conversation. The breakfast is delicious and made with fresh ingredients - Jean made me a bowl of yogurt w/ homemade granola and fresh raspberries and blackberries, followed by free-range organic scrambled eggs, fresh steamed asparagus, canadian bacon, and an english muffin. And of course a glass of OJ and a big mug of french press coffee. The house is an amazing project they accomplished together; there is an album of 'before pictures' tucked away in the parlor. And the details in every corner of the house are truly unique. There are a number of books and magazines on York, the surrounding cities, and Victorian homes sprinkled about the house. And there are beautiful paintings (by Jean) on the walls of countryside scenes in England; and a lone sheep by the door, a remnant of the original house. I stayed two nights in the Grecian room, which had a gorgeous bathroom, an attached patio, and of course a luxurious fluffy bed! This is a wonderful place to stay, while visiting the area. I had a lovely time and hope to see my new friends at Lady Linden soon.

Jim, is from a mennonite family, so he can answer a lot of questions about the mennonite history in PA and also he was born in Tanzania while his parents were on a mission trip. We went in winter with snow so there were many aspects, like the balcony and grounds which we did not get to explore. the house seems smaller than it looks. you will only have accesss to view your room- the parlor and dining. this B&B has only two guest rooms. it's a very very intimate atmosphere- if you want your space- this stay would not be ideal for you. expect to be greeted and chatted up whenever you enter or leave and asked about what you will do while in york. Jean and Jim are very nice and have lots of york knowledge and their own personal stories to share. But make sure you have time to chat when you engage them. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO GO ON ROMANTIC NIGHT AND EXPECT TO MAKE OUT. YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING IN THIS HOUSE AND THE BED CREAKS. you can hear discussions thruought the home. BED IS SUPER SOFT- I prefer firm beds The breakfast is ok ok. Its pretty basic. I felt the eggs were cooked with a lot of butter. Overall Im glad I went there. But I am not sure I would recommend it immediately.

Parking is in the back. No one was in sight. We were confused for just a few moments - there's a telephone outside and it says to dial "3" for the innkeeper. I was just reaching out to do that when I noticed a manilla envelope that had our last name and first initials on it which gave instructions on which rooms we were assigned, contained the key cards, and a card with the choice of breakfast for the next morning which you fill out and leave in the dining room. There is great attention to detail at this inn and a great deal of amenities which is nice. The dining room, which is not locked, has a mini fridge stocked with water bottles and sodas. A sitting area near the front had a glass case of brownies. There's obviously an unspoken honor policy as well because there is an unlocked stand full of various souvenirs one can purchase such as candles in another sitting area as well. On the second floor, there's a coffee bar with a Keurig and K cups, a small sitting area, another mini fridge with bottled water and sodas and a jar of pretzels and another with cookies. The bathroom is also stocked with two additional bottles of water not to mention a nice assortment of toiletries, and even cotton balls and cue tips. There is even a piece of chocolate on each side of the bed. I found these little touches wonderful for enhancing our experience. I was afraid we'd have to look, like, behind the bed to find an outlet but they provided some accessible outlets and USB charging strips on the nightstand. Another bonus. Breakfast which is from 8-10 AM, is quite delicious. They ran out of orange juice though and didn't refill this so I didn't know if that was due to oversight or to save money but apart from that, I was satisfied with their selection. One drawback which others also mentioned is that the shower quite slippery so I think a non slip mat would go a long way. It also took a while for the hot water in the shower to get warm but it did eventually and the water pressure was very good. I also appreciated that the bathroom had a fan/vent since not all old fashioned inns do. The inn is an easy walking distance from the Kitchen Kettle Village. Unfortunately there's not an easy way to cross the street due to lack of a crosswalk so that was a bit of a snag. We ended up walking further down the street to a traffic light where there was a crosswalk. Overall, our stay here was wonderful and I appreciated the attention to details which greatly enhanced our experience. I would love to come back again.

Our room was cozy and featured a wood-burning fireplace. Right outside our door was a stockpile of pre-cut wooden logs, not to mention a beautiful deck that overlooks the forest-covered property. The house is located within a deep, dense canopy, and if you are looking for peace and serenity, this is the place for you. The outdoor area features a calming brook, a swing-set, a fire pit, and so on. Each morning, our gracious hosts left coffee on the deck for us to enjoy upon waking up. Afterwords, we made our way inside to the dining area, where George & Bonnie provided a delicious breakfast tailored to our individual preferences (my wife is a vegetarian). Bonnie's pumpkin bread was a real highlight! We stayed for 2 nights, and were absolutely stuffed to the brim after each breakfast. That's exactly the kind of service and hospitality you are looking for at a B&B! We have nothing but positive praise for this experience. Thank you George & Bonnie!!
