A lot of the original features had to he recreated. The common rooms downstairs are nicely done and are a great place to relax with a glass of wine. There are many windows that let in the light. If you play the piano, you are welcome to do so with the grand piano in the living room. The bedrooms are nice and comfortable, but lack the warm, inviting feeling of some other B&Bs. They could do more to make them less 'sterile.' Breakfast is what I would call "continental plus." There were croissants, breads, cookies, yogurt , granola, etc. They use real silverware rather than the stainless steel restaurant forks and knives. The B&B is right next to a busy street so road noise is always there. That's a general problem in Lancaster County. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but thought it was overpriced for what we got. For over $200, we should have gotten a full breakfast and a very cozy room.

Hospitality is all about the details and this place nailed it! From complimentary snacks to a great welcome book to even the nice touch on folding the end of the toilet paper, the owners took care of every detail to make our stay comfortable. We also weren't expecting the breakfast to be so fancy! It was like we were at a restaurant with appetizers, drinks, and a beautifully presented entree. Local yogurt, homemade granola, yummm... it was wonderful. I would highly recommend staying here as we will definitely be back in the future!

We stayed one night here, arriving around 5pm…read more The inn keepers (presumably one of the owner's wife and her daughter) were tidying up in the yard and greeted us graciously. They confirmed our reservation, showed us the tea/coffee counter and mini fridge (which we were free to take bottled water from), and asked us if we had any food issues for them to consider for breakfast the next morning. They then walked us up to our room - the Empire Room. The bedroom and its en suite bathroom were immaculately clean. There were a couple small spots with the wallpaper that will hopefully be fixed during the next maintenance pass, but these were very minor. The room sleeps two in a queen bed and has a balcony which was nice to sit on. The room has a modern thermostat and was very cool and comfortable on what might have been one of the most humid and hottest days of the year. Downstairs in the common area, there is ample comfortable seating to lounge around on, as well as an electric keyboard. I will note that upon entering the property, there was the distinct smell of turmeric. In some reviews on other online platforms, this has been mentioned. It didn't bother me, but if you're sensitive to it, you should be aware. The bed was comfortable and I slept soundly. However, the inn faces a fairly busy two-lane one-way street and the road noise was noticeable during the day. It's no fault of the property, but it seems there are a lot of locals who drive by with modified exhaust systems and that can spoil the otherwise serene setting. Breakfast was served at 8:30am. There were pitchers of water and orange juice, and carafes of hot coffee and hot water for tea. Breakfast was a glass cup of yogurt with a berry compote, followed by a plate of two strips of thick bacon and two sliced biscuits filled with a sausage gravy. The gravy appeared to have turmeric in it and was quite tasty. My wife requested a non-meat option the night before and got a vegetable omelet and an oatmeal pancake topped with strawberries, which she said was very good. Overall, we enjoyed our short stay here. The house is old (late 1800s), but our room was extremely clean and well-appointed.

You are locked out of the so called area to get coffee. once you know how bad it is you are grateful you can't get in. we waited 20 minutes in the pouring rain just to get someone to answer the door. With a quite indifferent attitude we were shown to our room. No coffee service. No Kleenex. No cups of any kind. But Qtips in a dish in the bathroom. Who would use Qtips that had laying out. if your going pack a picnic basket. The breakfast was a stone cold piece of an egg mixer that has baked in a cookie tray and then distributed. The fancy breakfast was the same slab of cold eggs with biscuits (Not home made), with cold sausage gravy. It was horrid. $200.00 a night. I think not. Don't walk RUN!!!!!

The ceilings hd water damage and the start of mold, both in the room and the lobby. Was told by one of the housekeeping crew that we should have never been placed on the 3rd floor that is was under renovation. Renovating is understandable but hotel should have never placed paying guests on the same floor, let alone in a room right next to ones that are being renovated. Upon checkout, early by the way, other guests must have experienced the same dissatisfaction because the staff placed a sign at the front desk regarding renovations. This should have been disclosed prior to booking room!
