I will preface this review by saying the town of Marietta, PA is one of the most idyllic towns I…read morehave been to in the US. It is a river town and is a charming place to stay if you want to visit the area attractions in Lancaster, Lititz, or York. The Ascot House was built in 1800 and has been lovingly renovated by Wendy. Wendy is the best b&b host I have ever encountered and I love her British accent and stories. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and were shown to our room (the Essex). The Essex room is upstairs and the entrance is outside, but you have your own private porch which is great. It is also convenient if you have dogs as we did, because you can walk them or go into the backyard without going through the main house. Wendy is truly the most pet friendly b&b I have ever been to as well, and made sure the dogs had a water bowl on the porch soon after we arrived. She will also pet sit for you if need be for a reasonable rate. We promptly joined another couple on the deck for wine and cheese and had a great time talking to them and Wendy. There are two taverns in town that are in close walking distance, McLeary's and Shanks Tavern. Both have live music, but McLearys is larger and open on Saturday unlike Shanks. We had a great time exploring the town of Lititz on the Saturday and toured the PA Wolf Sanctuary which I highly recommend. Wendy is glad to provide any recommendations you need and we enjoyed the restaurant she recommended in Lititz. Wilbur's Chocolate Company from 1884 is also located in Lititz. The dining room is very formal and decorated in a beautiful manner. We were treated to many courses at breakfast - one morning we had a blueberry cake, fruit, and eggs and bacon, and the next morning we had yogurt and fruit, apple turnover, and waffles with true clotted cream. You can also get your own pot of tea which is a nice touch. You should not need lunch after eating breakfast here. The Lancaster area is very quiet on Sunday so you might have to venture farther for attractions that are open. Our favorite activities were just walking around the town of Marietta and looking at the beautiful 19th century homes, especially along the railroad tracks. They have a Candlelight Tour of some of the old homes every first Sunday in December and we have already booked to go back to the Ascot House because it was truly that special. The Susquehanna is a beautiful river and is located just behind the railroad tracks. Yes, you can hear the trains go by in the middle of the night so I would recommend ear plugs or taking some Benadryl. I wouldn't let that deter you from visiting this b&b which is located in one of the cutest small towns you can think of. There are also lots of wineries in the area that I want to try next time we return to the area. Make sure you check out the Chickie's Rock hike which is very easy and has a great view of the Susquehanna.

We loved hanging out with them in the kitchen, eating breakfast made to order, and having great conversation! We felt like we were visiting our favorite relatives)))) Even though we gave it 5 stars, I must mention couple of cons. 1. The carpet in the bathroom. I don't like carpets anywhere, let alone in the bathroom. For various reasons it's unsanitary, allot easier to clean tile and hardwood floor, than carpet. 2. The train makes horrible noise, it honks for a long time in the middle of the night which is really disturbing. However, with windows closed you can't hear a thing. 3. Mattresses would need to be updated to something firmer and more modern and orthopedic. But I am sure,in time all will be improved and updated. Thank you, guys, again for making our stay so pleasant !

Bathroom floor had black hair all over and towels wrinkled hanging on wood rack. Bed was uncomfortable. Room was not the one we were told we were getting when booked. We should have been notified prior to our arrival, and I would have made other arrangements. The reason we select a bed and breakfast is for the breakfast. My guess is the kitchen is not up to code, and they are not allowed to serve food. The place is filthy, and the host is very unorganized. When we arrived the host took us to our room (no locks on the doors) and showed us our bathroom which was a separate room (we had to leave our room to use the bathroom). The bathroom light was not working and not enough towels. The host told us they would fix the light and then she went to another room and grabbed towels for us. The first time I took a shower I found a dirty hand towel hanging on the shower knob. So, I'm sure the bathroom was not properly cleaned. There was one dresser in our room, and all the drawers were full of personal junk, there was no place to put our clothes other than a hanger that was hanging on the wall. A microwave that didn't work and a small fridge that had ice build-up and needed cleaned were in our room. The downstairs was worse, looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the mansion was built, so bad that we would not sit in the living room or spend any time in the lower level. The day we left we walked around the property, and the place is overgrown with weeds. And on top of all this the host has accused us of stealing two of the nasty towels and breaking a defective window blind that was in our room. I guess they need the extra money to fix this place. We were very disappointed and do not recommend this place.

We were in…read moretown for a family reunion and hosted a dinner party at SMI one evening that was among the highlights of the family weekend. Manisha and Prashsant, owners of Stone Manor Inn, were personally involved in making sure all went smoothly with our cocktail and dinner party, and it most certainly did! SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. Very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back!

Wayyyyy better than staying in one of the area hotels. Don and Ellen were extremely hospitable. They were able to accommodate our late check in time which we were very grateful of. They had snacks, coffee and tea 24/7 along with candy and games. The inn itself is very charming and I love all the decor. We stayed in the Sycamore room on the second floor. The bed was a little too soft for our liking but everything was super clean. They really thought of everything! The inn is within 10-15 min drive to all of the area attractions! The BEST part was the breakfast! Don was able to accommodate for dietary restrictions and the meals were delicious! Portions were large! The stairs are a bit steep, and there is some traffic noise as the inn is close to the road.

Spending a week exploring Hershey and the surrounding areas has been on the list of want to see for a very long time and recently we had the opportunity to do just that. We had so much fun visiting with Samantha, she is the perfect GM, hostess, breakfast chef and baker. Her bubbly and friendly personality made our stay extra special. We were in the Napoleon Room, which is very private with a private staircase leading up off the kitchen. The room was huge, immaculately clean and so very comfortable. The bathroom was large with plenty of room to get ready in the mornings. The large and tall windows brought so much light into the room and having a mini fridge is a nice touch to keep waters cold. The Inn is filled with antiques, is warm, cozy and extremely welcoming to her guests. The basement has a nice pool table and a beautiful room with a long dining table, perfect for a small wedding reception or reception dinner. The grounds are beautiful and it is the perfect spot to stay for a few days or longer to explore the Hershey area. We felt right at home. Our breakfasts included, eggs benedict, scrumptious frittata and quiche along with yogurt, fruit and muffins with juice. There are fresh baked cookies and muffins with coffee and tea in the breakfast room all day for your snacking pleasure. There is plenty of parking, even a charging station for your electric vehicle. The Inn is centrally located to Hershey and the surrounding areas. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners one afternoon and they are lovely people who truly care about making the Inn comfortable and beautiful for their guests. We had the opportunity to see the other suites when guests were not checked into the rooms, each one is gorgeous with antiques, you can't go wrong with any room in the Inn. We absolutely will stay again, and you should book a stay and go. Thank you Samantha for truly making our stay special.
