I still got a knock on the door, a steaming cup of coffee and homemade biscotti waiting for me in the dining room. Jim and Jean were wonderful hosts; and the Victorian house they designed and built together is magnificent. My dinner plans fell through one evening and they graciously invited me to join them. It was a lovely meal with great conversation. The breakfast is delicious and made with fresh ingredients - Jean made me a bowl of yogurt w/ homemade granola and fresh raspberries and blackberries, followed by free-range organic scrambled eggs, fresh steamed asparagus, canadian bacon, and an english muffin. And of course a glass of OJ and a big mug of french press coffee. The house is an amazing project they accomplished together; there is an album of 'before pictures' tucked away in the parlor. And the details in every corner of the house are truly unique. There are a number of books and magazines on York, the surrounding cities, and Victorian homes sprinkled about the house. And there are beautiful paintings (by Jean) on the walls of countryside scenes in England; and a lone sheep by the door, a remnant of the original house. I stayed two nights in the Grecian room, which had a gorgeous bathroom, an attached patio, and of course a luxurious fluffy bed! This is a wonderful place to stay, while visiting the area. I had a lovely time and hope to see my new friends at Lady Linden soon.

Jim, is from a mennonite family, so he can answer a lot of questions about the mennonite history in PA and also he was born in Tanzania while his parents were on a mission trip. We went in winter with snow so there were many aspects, like the balcony and grounds which we did not get to explore. the house seems smaller than it looks. you will only have accesss to view your room- the parlor and dining. this B&B has only two guest rooms. it's a very very intimate atmosphere- if you want your space- this stay would not be ideal for you. expect to be greeted and chatted up whenever you enter or leave and asked about what you will do while in york. Jean and Jim are very nice and have lots of york knowledge and their own personal stories to share. But make sure you have time to chat when you engage them. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO GO ON ROMANTIC NIGHT AND EXPECT TO MAKE OUT. YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING IN THIS HOUSE AND THE BED CREAKS. you can hear discussions thruought the home. BED IS SUPER SOFT- I prefer firm beds The breakfast is ok ok. Its pretty basic. I felt the eggs were cooked with a lot of butter. Overall Im glad I went there. But I am not sure I would recommend it immediately.

The prices are fair and reasonable. Katie is great at her job and we are always happy to see her when we walk through the doors. I do wish they would add an additional TV above the POS System for better viewing of games and possible have a happy hour with some wing specials. Maybe this is coming...:) Bottom line is if you have not been to RG Grill in the past year you should give it another go. They have been under a new developer for the past 18 months and everything has changed for the better. Keep up the good work! ****Wednesday night is Pasta night and it is spectacular!

Walt Okon at Susquehanna River House at 1335 River Hill Rd, Pequea, PA…read more We rented a house right on the Susquehanna River 20-23 May 2022. This house is amazing. It is a truly luxury home. This house was supper clean and neat. The entire house is upgrade. The decor bright yet warn country home. Internet system is solid and fast. All smart flat TV interconnected with five zone stereo systems throughout the house. We were impressed with how clean everything was, the diligence, and attention to detail of workmanship. The house has been totally upgraded with quality products and quality work, ceiling to floors. Lighting in this house state of the art both inside and outside. The kitchen is fully equipped with all new appliances. It had everything we could think of including two refrigerators, gas top cooking and every item a top chef could thing of needing. Windows that looked directly out on to the Susquehanna River House with its private dock. Two of the four bedrooms has their own ensuites. The Master Bedroom on the main floor really big with a river view which is magnificent, plus a large three head shower big for two people at a time. All linens towels etc are highest quality plush and provided. a view of the water which was magnificent. The air-conditioning is zones in the different rooms give the ability for all the have comfort to their choosing. Absolutely no negatives in this house. I did not expect the internet to be good in such a remote area; but, to my surprise it worked fine throughout the whole property. Lighting in this house is beyond expectation. You have to see it. The porch on the house is outstanding with tables chairs, rockers, a complete wet bar and the perfect view of the river The attention to detain in this house say Quality Quality, and Quality! Linens in the house were very nice, water was nice and hot for the shower. The seasons at this place probably provide a variety of different experiences, we visited in December and the house was appropriately decorated for Christmas, adorable. Our room was cozy and featured a wood-burning fireplace. Right outside our door was a stockpile of pre-cut wooden logs, not to mention a beautiful deck that overlooks the forest-covered property. The house is located within a deep, dense canopy, and if you are looking for peace and serenity, this is the place for you. The outdoor area features a calming brook, a swing-set, a fire pit, and so on. Each morning, our gracious hosts left coffee on the deck for us to enjoy upon waking up. Afterwords, we made our way inside to the dining area, where George & Bonnie provided a delicious breakfast tailored to our individual preferences (my wife is a vegetarian). Bonnie's pumpkin bread was a real highlight! We stayed for 2 nights, and were absolutely stuffed to the brim after each breakfast. That's exactly the kind of service and hospitality you are looking for at a B&B! We have nothing but positive praise for this experience. Thank you George & Bonnie!!

Raquel and Juan are what make this beautiful Victorian House a place to remember. Rooms are exceptionally beautiful, comfortable and most important... Clean! We had our breakfast (cooked exactly as we wanted) in the Sun room and chatted with fellow guests from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. When done with breakfast, Raquel and Juan joined us in the sun room where we chatted about all sorts of things. I couldn't have felt more at home anywhere else. This is a definite 5 Star Plus place to be.

I took a trip to…read morePennsylvania Dutch country and found this place due to its awesome reviews, and now, after having stayed there for three nights, I see why everyone has been so glowing. Here are a few of the reasons that I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Manheim Manor: -Todd & Lorene: These two are truly some of the most gracious hosts you could ask for. In addition to just genuinely being nice and thoughtful people, they are also full of history about the home, the area around Lancaster, and more. When more guests were coming in the other nights and parking was getting tight, Todd called me to let me know a special place I could park in the back of the house. They are engaging conversationalists and make it a pleasure to stay here. I had mentioned to them that I was a cyclist and hoped to find some nearby biked trails, so Lorene printed out trail maps for me that I ended up using the next day to go on a ride. -The room: I stayed in the Peaches & Cream room, which has a great screened-in patio that made for a wonderful place to sit outside and read in the evenings. This was really one of the selling points for me as I wanted to stay somewhere where I had some private outdoor space, and this fit the bill. The rooms at the Manor aren't huge, but that was totally fine as I didn't have that many things with me anyway. The bed was quite comfortable as well, and despite the traditional nature of the home, they also had a Roku for streaming, which I ended up using one evening for Hulu. -The house and history: Built in the late 19thcentury, Manheim Manor is an exercise in historical exploration, in the best way. There is a downstairs library with a great collection of books ranging from Shakespeare to mystery books that I read as a kid (Nancy Drew, anyone?). There's an upstairs library of VCR tapes that brought back memories from just looking at the covers. Lorene took me on a tour of the house and showed me a variety of interesting historical points in its various rooms. The property also features a great outdoor seating area in the backyard. -The food: This is really a high point! In addition to being an innkeeper, apparently a great handyman, and many other things, Todd is also a refined chef and makes culinary creations that wow people every day. From the blueberry pancakes to the orange scones to the broccoli and cheese quiche...wow! Having been very fortunate to have visited many a highly regarded restaurant across the world, I can easily say that Todd's breakfast rivals some of the best morning means I've had in Paris, Tokyo, and beyond. There is also a great collection of tea and many other things that make breakfast at Manheim Manor the best part of waking up. Now for the bad...I don't have anything to say. I always try to have one point that's not overly positive so that my reviews seem more "real," but I honestly can't think of anything that isn't glowing to say about my stay. Lorene and Todd are wonderful, and all the other guests I met during my stay were friendly and neighborly as well. I have no doubt that upon my next visit to the area, I'll stay here again.
