What a nice little plant shop…read more We stopped here because it looked so welcoming. My wife made a small succulent bowl. They offer this diy terrarium experience that was super fun. The people working in the shop were very kind and positive. They explained things well, were encouraging, and obviously enjoyed their work. If you like plants you'll like this shop.

I found out about this hidden nursery from my neighbor who owns a landscaping company - they are…read moreexcellent. Of the different places to buy plants in the area, they have the best prices, which is a bit surprising to me because they're also the smallest little family company, and their plants are excellent. I bought the most gorgeous giant schefflera from Long's for $15. It wasn't even discounted, that was just the price! The older lady who works inside - I forget her name - is my favorite. She knows all the houseplants, how to care for them, and how they behave. She just turned me on to this weird little guy called a peparomia - she had to write it down for me! She also spent time with me going over different systemics for diseased houseplants after I mentioned that my parents have a very special but long-dying schefflera; I sent it to them and now they're desperate for more because it's the only thing that ever worked! ... which brings me to the only bad thing about Long's. The inside garden miscellania is not super well-stocked, although their "garden pharmacy" usually is; right now it isn't because of Covid-related delays/ inventory backlog. There are very few pots to choose from, no baskets, and some of the odder products look dusty and forgotten from the last century. However I don't care - I'm there for the plants, the prices, and the know-how! We bought a number of trees here after probably an HOUR spent with their tree guy Mike, over two visits, agonizing which evergreen tree to get... he was very patient and very informative. "This one doesn't like wind, that one will grow in such and such a way, that one has poisonous berries since you have children..." etc. I was so grateful for that kind of detailed information, and the trees we ended up buying are guaranteed for the first year so that gives me confidence! I've also taken up the rose guy's time, and that wasn't even for a sale - I wanted to talk to him about the shape my roses are taking and how to change it. He knew there was no sale, and still spent ages showing me (on one of their bushes) where and how to prune for different shapes. That's rare service!

Searched garden stores open late on a Friday and Conestoga Valley Greenhouse popped up. Navigated to a farm, with another smaller road that took us to the greenhouse area (follow the signs). There were multiple greenhouses and areas with lots and lots of plants. We checked out the vegetable plant greenhouse and there was so much to choose from! Lots of varieties. I was able to find the pepper plants my mom wanted at such an amazingly low price. The girl working the cashier was pleasant and provided a box to carry them all. Next time I come back, I will stock up on other types of plants too. What a great find!

Nolt's Nursery is one of those places you go to "just look" and somehow leave with a cart full of…read moreplants, a new garden idea, and plans you didn't have before you walked in. They have everything and I mean that. Indoor plants, outdoor plants, annuals, perennials, succulents, fertilizers, gardening tools... plus all the extras you didn't know you needed until you see them. It's super easy to get inspired just walking through. One of my favorite parts is their hardscaping section. The waterfall displays, koi pond setups, and full outdoor kitchen/grill areas are so fun to look at it's like Pinterest came to life, but dangerous for your wallet if you get ideas The greenhouse itself is always worth wandering through. Rows and rows of healthy plants, tons of variety, and plenty to choose from no matter what you're planting. It's one of those places where you'll find something new every time you go. Pricing is pretty comparable to other local spots not cheap, but fair for the quality. They also send out coupons in local flyers, which is a nice little bonus. I've seen deals like half off a perennial or a free petunia with a purchase, which makes it even easier to justify grabbing "just one more." Overall, this is another must stop every season for me right up there with Fry's. Whether you're shopping with a plan or just browsing for inspiration, you'll find something worth bringing home.
