I miss Jack as we always visited and talked about our fish and trains. This year we added a second pond to give our trains something to cross over with our new bridges. Tara from Splints&Daisies was the second vendor we locked down. I went to meet her while in the Lancaster area to talk through details and felt that she understood my vision immediately. Florals were one of the only things that I was able to put fully out of sight, out of mind. I knew that whatever color scheme, design or installation that she put together would be perfect. I had 100% trust and confidence in her to deliver without any direction. What I didn't expect was that her floral installation would actually EXCEED my expectations. When I showed up at our venue, The Booking House, my bouquet was already in the bridal suite and it was absolutely perfect. As I walked upstairs to the second floor and saw her hanging tree branches from the ceiling, I was speechless. I wanted the room to feel like the Secret Garden, bringing the outdoors inside for a moody fall evening, and that is exactly what we received. Tara has an EXTREMELY poor attitude and a long reputation of poorly talking to clients either in person or on social media. She insists that she has FULL CONTROL over your event, and we never allowed to pick or choose the flowers for our own wedding. Instead, we were told that she buys items in bulk, and "I can't control Mother Nature". Our wedding is on a Sunday so it was obvious Tara was only planning on using scraps and left over items from the weddings before ours. After all, she ONLY buys in bulk to do a handful weddings at a time. He emails were very negative and for a person who should be the happy flower vendor is only full of negative comments. We told not to talk to her and let her do her own thing. Just roll over and pay her with no idea what we paid for. We NEVER received a written plan and details of the florals she was planning. As far as an itemized list and pricing, IT NEVER CAME. There are plenty of other flower vendors to choose from that will be transparent with you and work WITH YOU. Tara on the other hand wants to be paid thousands of dollars without a plan, details and to be "left alone" to do whatever the heck she wants to short cut so she can line her pockets with money she historical over charges for. She is being sued.....

The Olde Mill House Shoppes is two different buildings - the old stone house and an old barn - that have a wide selection of stuff that women love to shop like rugs, furniture, lighting, home decor, kitchen gadgets, pantry items, women's clothing and accessories. They also have a floral department that I think makes wreaths. My favorite part of the shoppes was the old stone house. Aside from admiring the lovely architecture I enjoyed looked at kitchen gadgets, kitchen decor, pantry items like bread mixes and such. I loved the creek of the floors too. It was a very charming experience. A lot of the furniture was definitely in the Shaker and colonial styles. The lighting section was amazing. Lots of early American inspired design lighting. I wasn't in the market for lighting so I moved on to other things. The rug section was fun to peruse. I saw they sold one of my favorite brands - Dash and Albert. They also had a lot of braided rugs. Regarding the clothing section in the refurbished barn, it wasn't really my style but it seemed like there were some regular customer in there having an absolute ball shopping for some new outfits. It kind of reminded me of the fun, comfy and colorful styles you might find at Chico's. Aside from the above, there was plenty more to look at like some linens, wall art, candles, etc. Overall, this was a fun place to explore and a great place to stop in while in Lancaster County.
