We had a wonderful two nights stay at the Baladerry Inn. The Inn is centrally located, close to downtown and near the historic national Park. It is a beautiful setting situated on acres of open fields. Very quiet. Although near to many things, a car is necessary to get around. I didn't realize there was a hot tub on the premises and I imagine in the nicer weather people eat outdoors and have campfires at night. There were only a few couples staying at the Inn while I was there. The hosts Judy and Kenny are lovely people and kept us well Fed with delicious food in the morning. It's very laid-back with 24 seven coffee set up as well as snacks. read more

We stayed here with a group of six of us for a reunion and it was the perfect choice! Judy and Kenny were incredibly hospitable, accommodating, and a joy to be around! Their bed and breakfast provides a relaxing environment with plenty of space to sit and talk, a fire pit, a hot tub, and a living room with couches and a tv (although we recommend taking in the property and disconnecting from technology!). The inn is a short distance from downtown Gettysburg, making the environment incredibly relaxing. The beds were super comfortable, the rooms were spacious, and Judy's breakfasts each morning will be something our group talks about for years to come. Highly recommend coming here! read more

The Baladerry Inn is definitely still earning that 5 star rating! We were only able to get away for a few nights and this was our first time trying a bed and breakfast instead of a hotel. My wife said it perfectly as we pulled away from the Inn. "I (we) don't know if this was just an exceptional experience, but we will absolutely try for a bed and breakfast in the future before returning to hotels." When we arrived Judy and Ken (the Innkeepers/owners) saw us coming and greeted us in the main house, we were checked in promptly and Ken gave us a nice tour around the property including some history and stories from the Inn's involvement in the Civil War. We went with the suite over in the carriage house, it was very roomy, comfortable, and super clean! The bed was a bit firm for our preference, but if you like a firm mattress you'll love it. We read through the binder of paranormal experiences during our breakfast the two mornings we were there and the food and service for breakfast was excellent. Great tasting and dietary needs met perfectly. Sadly, the binder was our only paranormal experience at the Inn. We felt very 'at ease' the entire time we were there and would definitely stay with the Baladerry Inn on a future visit to Gettysburg, there was so much more we could have seen/done and we learned that after we got there, the Inn is in perfect proximity to everything we were able to squeeze in! One small suggestion, the family staying in the cottage house at the same time as us were smokers, while they never smoked inside, they were smoking right outside of the main door to the carriage house multiple times as we came and went, not a very pleasant entrance/exit to the house for a non-smoker walking through the smoke of 3-4 smokers. Perhaps some type of covered smoking area away from the main entrance would help? read more

Perfect stay at the Baladerry Inn! We picked the Primrose room for the king size bed and it was so comfy! Breakfast was delightful and they gave me a cucumber egg sandwich (I don't eat beef/pork) as opposed to the typical menu items and it was delicious! No ghostly sightings for us even though I'm quite open to such a thing. We felt a lot of positive energy and comfort and peace here! read more

Let me start by saying... clean... so clean! After a previous night's stay at a very dirty hotel (Gettysburg Hotel), it was so refreshing to walk into the Baladerry and be greeted with lemony cleanliness in our room, shiny wooden floors, and a warm fire. The energy here is potent and extremely positive. Judy and Ken are the most hospitable of hosts (and that frittata... I mean damn Judy). We came for the haunted rooms (and wavered a bit on our decision upon our arrival) and stayed because of the charm of the place and our hosts. It is a beautifully decorated B&B with a strong sense of the past. If you are coming because of the ghost stories then stay in the Primrose or Ivy rooms in the "old" house (Geoffrey haunts here) or in our room the Marigold (Emily haunts here) in the carriage house. We both had an "experience" during our stay in the Marigold... If you aren't quite that brave (and trust me I almost slept in the car) then stay in the other rooms in the carriage house that seem to not be as "active". Judy and Ken are brilliantly artful about the paranormal aspects of their B&B and did a great job of keeping the "spookiness" at bay. However, you want to lean - the energy/ghost feels positive and nothing about it made us feel scared (nervous for sure :) ). I would highly recommend because the B&B is wonderful on its own and the added "history" makes the Baladerry a must stay. read more

We were there for Paranormal investigating and again, were not disappointed. Judy was knowledgeable about the history and we got some great evidence. What a quiet, relaxing place to recover from the crowds of the battlefield. I sat on the covered patio, attached to my room, and enjoyed the silence and the little fawn and the greenness of Pennsylvania. My husband and I have stayed at a ton of B&B's. This one is by far the best! This one stands out because the owners added a fire pit and hot tub to access. A lot of places in Gettysburg closes early so it was nice to have things to do at the Inn. The Inn is kept extremely CLEAN. Breakfast was a 3 course meal. The yard is kept. Everything was so beautiful and the owners are so kind! We got a bottle of wine and cheese dish in the room for when we checked in and the wine was delicious. We can't wait to return! read more

I loved this little place! It was my first bed and breakfast experience, and I was very impressed. It was very clean, and our room was very comfortable (I stayed in the cottage rose suite). The breakfast was amazing in the morning, and if I didn't like something, they were happy to make me something else. They atmosphere was very friendly, and it felt as if I were at home. The owners and staff were very kind, and they made me feel as though I've known them for years. The property was beautiful, and so was the 200+ year old house. A few days ago we stayed here after we were in DC, to explore Gettysburg. We got in late, and had prearranged entry before. We came in to delicious cookies and a note with our key and info. The room was AMAZING! We stayed in the Cottage Rose Suite, and it was unbelievable. Large and comfy with a great bed and a fireplace (which we actually needed!! - I guess it's fall~). The breakfast was also fantastic, we had a veggie and egg tart, fresh fruit and a apple sausage stuffed "pancake" with apple syrup. It was TO DIE FOR. We were really treated like royalty. Not only is this a historic spot, having been a farmhouse during the civil war - and used as a field hospital during the battle itself, but it is also on the edge of the battlefield. The owner, Judy, gave us a private tour of the house, showing us the original wood floors that were stained with a bloody footprint of solider that waited for treatment. What an amazing experience that most don't get to experience from museum to tour bus stop. She also told us more about the family that owned the farm, and about what the area was like in the 1800's. After breakfast we were less than a mile drive to the visitors center for Gettysburg, it was a perfect and romantic spot to spend some time. As well as a quiet area to reflect over the history of the area. We took a hike and stumbled onto some battlefield memorials that weren't on the general tour nearby the inn. read more

The location is only a couple of miles from town which was great to come back to after a full day of touring. A great place to stay. The "Only" place to stay in Gettysburg! The Baladerry Inn is located less than 3 miles from the main downtown area yet set in a beautiful countryside. The Tulip Room was a first floor location, Queen bed and private bath...large, comfortable and nicely appointed. The Inn is a fabulous mixture of the original house and the lovely added space. Immaculately clean in all areas of the Inn as well as a spotless room and bathroom with very easy access to coffee, tea or hot chocolate at any time you wish. The home cooked breakfast included fresh fruit, a freshly made apple cinnamon muffin and really good "Egg Baladerry Benedict". The hosts are amazing and welcome each guest to their 'home' as if you were a long time friend or relative. read more

We just returned yesterday from our stay at Baladerry Inn. What a beautiful B and B! The property is gorgeous with a huge open grassy area where many deer visit daily. The rooms are quiet, clean and smartly decorated. The main house has all you need and more: Keurig coffee maker, fresh baked cookies, cold drinks, ice and ice buckets, two cozy indoor sitting areas and probably even more I'm not remembering. We stayed in the Daisy room. It's country charm made for a relaxing stay. The shower was updated and the bathroom very clean. The french doors open to a view of the grounds and a sweet little patio with chairs and table to enjoy the beautiful view and a nice bottle of wine. The owners, Judy and Ken and their employee Connie were all very personable and welcoming. Judy gave us a personal tour of the house, telling us all about it's Civil War history. The breakfasts were delicious and fresh; a great way to start each day. The weather was perfect for al fresco dining on the patio at the main house. We spent a lot of time on the patio at the main house and off of our room relaxing and visiting with other guests. Even though it feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, the property is only a mile away from the Gettysburg Military Visitor center and a couple of miles from the heart of downtown. I actually walked down one morning. The Baladerry Inn is a true gem. The rates are very reasonable. I highly recommend it for a romantic getaway or just a relaxing getaway. read more

I had my sisters bridal shower at baladerry a few weekends ago and it was wonderful! The inn has a charming decor and is very clean. Judy, the innkeeper, was so easy to work with and was flexible to our needs. All of the food was homemade and delicious. My family and I stayed overnight at Baladerry Inn on August 6, 2015. When we arrived, we were greeted by Ken and Judy, who showed us around the main house and the Carriage house. We were told the history of the location, and we were shown to our rooms--all three, which were located in the upstairs and downstairs of the Carriage house. All rooms were extremely clean. We stayed in the Marigold room. Given that it's summer, the room was a bit warm, temperature-wise, but thankfully, there was a fan, placed in the closet for our use. The fan was a total lifesaver over night to keep us comfortable while sleeping. The next morning, we had breakfast in the main house. We were served three courses: a pear and grape parfait, with slivered almonds, a halved baked potato, full of melted cheese and chives, and finally, a pumpkin waffle, topped with a sugar glaze and a slice of orange. To drink, we had our pick from a selection of orange juice, coffee, tea, water, apple juice, and more. Overall, staying at Baladerry Inn was a fantastic experience, surrounded by history. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. We highly recommend this place, especially if you are visiting Gettysburg National Military Park. read more

Very helpful owners Judy and Kenny were very good at recommending places to eat and tours to take based on our interests. One snippet of advice... If you plan to sit out at night on the beautiful deck, watch the sun set and enjoy a glass of wine, bring wine with you! The building itself and surrounding area was very interesting, however, if you are under the age of 35 I would not recommend this B&B. By 10pm all the lights on the back porch and inside the great room were turned off and the doors to the shared area were shut. It was completely silent by 8pm both nights - to the point where my 2 friends and I felt the need to whisper in our room. The food was great - the staff was fairly friendly, but my next Gettysburg adventure will be spent elsewhere. read more

We enjoy staying at bed and breakfast inns whenever we can. On a recent visit to see Gettysburg, we stayed at the historic Baladerry Inn. The Baladerry Inn is one of the best. It is clean, welcoming, and comfortable, as well as being part of Civil War history. The innkeepers are very pleasant and obviously enjoy their guests. Breakfasts were amazing and delicious! Coffee and a home baked treat were always available. The location is ideal. It is set in a beautiful area giving the feel of being out in the country, yet is minutes from town.
