Just a nice view from our suite!

The Baladerry Inn is definitely still earning that 5 star rating! We were only able to get away for a few nights and this was our first time trying a bed and breakfast instead of a hotel. My wife said it perfectly as we pulled away from the Inn. "I (we) don't know if this was just an exceptional experience, but we will absolutely try for a bed and breakfast in the future before returning to hotels." When we arrived Judy and Ken (the Innkeepers/owners) saw us coming and greeted us in the main house, we were checked in promptly and Ken gave us a nice tour around the property including some history and stories from the Inn's involvement in the Civil War. We went with the suite over in the carriage house, it was very roomy, comfortable, and super clean! The bed was a bit firm for our preference, but if you like a firm mattress you'll love it. We read through the binder of paranormal experiences during our breakfast the two mornings we were there and the food and service for breakfast was excellent. Great tasting and dietary needs met perfectly. Sadly, the binder was our only paranormal experience at the Inn. We felt very 'at ease' the entire time we were there and would definitely stay with the Baladerry Inn on a future visit to Gettysburg, there was so much more we could have seen/done and we learned that after we got there, the Inn is in perfect proximity to everything we were able to squeeze in! One small suggestion, the family staying in the cottage house at the same time as us were smokers, while they never smoked inside, they were smoking right outside of the main door to the carriage house multiple times as we came and went, not a very pleasant entrance/exit to the house for a non-smoker walking through the smoke of 3-4 smokers. Perhaps some type of covered smoking area away from the main entrance would help?

Decided to go here for a quick weekend getaway. The pictures on the website don't do this bnb justice. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and well kept. The location is perfect for visiting Gettysburg. The breakfast was fantastic. We would certainly come again if we were in the area.

Perfect stay at the Baladerry Inn! We picked the Primrose room for the king size bed and it was so comfy! Breakfast was delightful and they gave me a cucumber egg sandwich (I don't eat beef/pork) as opposed to the typical menu items and it was delicious! No ghostly sightings for us even though I'm quite open to such a thing. We felt a lot of positive energy and comfort and peace here!

We were traveling with two children so having the cabin with two bedrooms and bathrooms was very convenient. The front desk was very friendly during check-in and explained the different aspects of the property. Our kids decided they wanted to try their luck at fishing so we took advantage of the free rods available at the front desk. The property was very quiet and well kept. Only issue we had was the main refrigerator was not working, but since we were only staying for a short time and we had the efficiency refrigerator I did not notify staff until we checked out so they could get it in order for the next guest. The location is secluded enough to be peaceful but is only a 10-12 minute drive to downtown Gettysburg. They had a restaurant on location and have a breakfast basket available for purchase which was large enough to last the four of us until lunchtime. I wanted to add the week prior to our stay they called me to advise the lobby was closing at 11pm and wanted to know when we would be checking in. After some researching, I realized I booked the wrong week, but they were able to accommodate moving the reservation to the following week without any issue, so I considered myself lucky that the lodge had the availability to do that (and was willing to do that without penalty). The female I dealt with was very pleasant and professional, even though my mistake caused some confusion. We would definitely stay there again the next time we are in the area.

Our cottage was very large with high ceilings. The bedroom, the bathroom and the living room were all quite large. We had an efficiency kitchen in the living room, as well as a gas fireplace and a TV. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and extra blankets. The bathroom towels were large and plush. The interior was spotlessly, clean with hardwood flooring and cabinetry. I would absolutely stay here again. It seems like an amazing place to stay with a large group or hold some type of event. The price was right. If I ever returned to Gettysburg, I would try to stay here.

The Inn at Cemetery Hill is shockingly outdated -- everything from the furniture to the carpet looks decades old and neglected. The room smelled musty the moment I walked in, and the bed was absolutely awful: sagging, noisy, and impossible to get comfortable on. I woke up sore and barely slept at all. The towels were so thin and rough they felt like sandpaper -- definitely not something you'd expect from a place charging these rates. To make things worse, the staff dismissed any issues stating "people fight over that room." Uh... what? Overall, this place is a complete disaster. Outdated, uncomfortable, and staffed by people who clearly don't care. I would never stay here again and strongly suggest looking anywhere else in Gettysburg.

When we checked in an hour early, we were charged an extra $25 for a room that was supposedly ready and the lady at the front desk was a bit rude. Supposedly. We would have had no problem with the charge had our room actually been ready. When we went to take a shower before dinner across the street at Dobbin House, there was no body wash or shampoo in the shower. I went to the front desk and was given bar soap and body wash (for shampoo). The Wi-Fi sucked at best like they use a 50k modem and constantly logged us off...what's the point? When I was checking us out this morning, the same lady at the front desk asked how our stay was and I told her about the soap and shampoo issue. All I got was, "Oh. I'm so sorry" in a crappy tone. No offer to make it right after I pointed out that we had paid an extra $25 to check into a room that wasn't actually ready. My husband did get a voicemail from the front desk about 30 minutes later. It's a bit too late. Maybe your staff should take courses on proper customer service when there's a valid concern.

The location is good. The breakfasts were uneven: one outstanding, one pretty awful (a cold Egg McMuffin and cottage cheese?), and one so-so. But perhaps they had a new or temporary cook, because other reviewers did not seem to find this to be the case. We did not find a book in our room with information? Instructions on operating the thermostat would have been helpful, as it got quite cold the third night. Parking is very generous. All in all, we would return, as this was definitely the nicest of the three B&Bs in which I have stayed in Gettysburg.

Everything was checked out online via Yelp, which was a nice confidence boost. I didn't want to make a mistake and end up with a nightmare stay. Next, the parking and the front desk entrance are at the rear of the building. It has a fascinating history. Throughout the hotel, there are historical paintings of Gettysburg. The restaurant that was part of the inn no longer serves breakfast, so we had to drive out for a bite. However, we planned to visit the battleground early in the morning, so this was no big issue. Also, please ignore folks who repeat what they've heard about ghosts at the Federal Pointe Inn. Besides, historians often write these people off as less reliable, and their accounts are open to individual interpretation. Like the game, you see on TV where folks sit in a circle, and a person would whisper something in the ear of another person, who would whisper it to the next and so forth, and it virtually had no resemblance to the original. Well, that sums up ghost stories. So, don't allow ghost stories to deter you from staying at the Federal Pointe Inn.
