My big Italian family came here for a birthday party. Ambiance, very nice. Server very friendly. Food, mostly very good. But I'm sorry we need to talk about this whole "we like to take our time thing." Literally, they are getting knocked from what otherwise would have been a 4 star review down to two, it was that bad. I don't know why TI@HR is sticking with this "It is our goal to provide a relaxed environment for our guests. We are very sensitive to not rush our guests through their dining experience." (their words, per another review) It took us... wait for it.... wait for it.... no seriously wait for it... because we waited for it..........90 MINUTES TO GET OUR APPS! 90!!!!! Know what you can do in 90 minutes? - Watch the Little Mermaid from beginning to end. - Listen to the entire broadway soundtrack from The Band's Visit. - Run a ten miler. Or if you're slow, a 10k. - Drive from Gettysburg to DC (if there isn't traffic) TRUST ME. WE WEREN'T RUSHED. In fact, I actually thought I was going to faint from starvation. BUT THANKS WE WEREN'T RUSHED! The whole dining "experience" took us about 3 hours. I like not feeling rushed. But seriously like... I don't need three hours. No woman needs three hours. But you keep sticking with this "we like to take our time" thing. Despite getting many complaints. Also the twice baked potatoes with the steak was very 80's.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Inn at Herr Ridge and it was absolutely amazing. All of the staff was amazing to work with and helped us make our day special. We got so many compliments from our guests on the ceremony, venue and food. The barn was exactly what we were looking for. It was so nice to have both the ceremony and reception so close together. There was a beautiful background during our ceremony- you could see all the lovely garden behind us and the barn as well which looked amazing. It made for some really great picture opportunities. The sound system sounded great, even with all of our tables there was plenty of room for dancing. There was ample parking for our guest and easy set up. I highly recommend their venue for weddings!!

The Inn at Herr Ridge is AMAZING!! We just had our wedding there 8/22/20 and it was the most perfect day ever! The staff is amazing, SO HELPFUL, so down to earth, and were there for anything and everything we needed! The barn is PERFECT for ANY wedding!! There is so much you can do/decorate in there! Also, there is so much space in the barn! We had our guests on the main floor, up top, and outside under the tent! We had the barn doors open and the lighting that came through into the barn was amazing! (This made for amazing pictures) Our ceremony was in the grass area right next to the barn which was beautiful! We also recommend the Inn as well which has a good amount of space for any event! It was also so perfect to have the Inn rooms right there for our guests to stay (the rooms are beautiful and so spacious!). Then theres the food, the food was SO AMAZING!! I cannot stress how good the food was! There are many options to choose from which we loved! We loved that they had the barn, the Livery bar and grill, and the Inn all right there! We would recommend the Inn at Herr Ridge to ANYONE AND EVERYONE in a heartbeat! They made our wedding day and every day leading up to it so easy, relaxing, and fun! They were there every step of the way at any moment! Have your wedding here and it will be the most amazing, perfect, and beautiful day ever!!

She knows everything Gettysburg and is a most gracious hostess.) The property is very well thought out and appointed. The location is good. The breakfasts were uneven: one outstanding, one pretty awful (a cold Egg McMuffin and cottage cheese?), and one so-so. But perhaps they had a new or temporary cook, because other reviewers did not seem to find this to be the case. We did not find a book in our room with information? Instructions on operating the thermostat would have been helpful, as it got quite cold the third night. Parking is very generous. All in all, we would return, as this was definitely the nicest of the three B&Bs in which I have stayed in Gettysburg.

Where do I even begin?! Well, sit back, get a cuppa and relax - this is going to take some time!…read moreOctober 1st-October 5th - the weekend of my daughter's long-awaited wedding. We took over. Every room. At first, everyone was "omg - we're all a minimum of 3.5 hours away - WHY!!!" As Mother of the Bride, I had a lot of work on this wedding, and Connie was my first contact here. She made everything perfect from the onset. My husband and I visited about 3 weeks before the big day to lock down decorations with Connie in the amazing barn. She made us feel welcome & was so incredibly helpful. We left with a feeling of control, where before I was just frazzled. I knew she understood my vision for the decorations and would do everything she could to make it happen. The house itself is a magical place with rooms tucked through this door, past the games, to up one of the two staircases, to behind that door off the parlor, to down the stairs through the solarium! Tea and coffee are always available, along with lemonade and water. They offer a variety of teas and coffee pods for all flavor lovers, including decaf. From this room we open to the grand solarium. Completely surrounded by the 2nd-story deck and porch with an outdoor fireplace! Big windows allow for streaming sunlight all day - it sparkles! Tables set here are for the 100% delicious breakfasts Sally whips up in the kitchen! The deck/porch off this room lent itself to the cocktail hour for the rehearsal dinner, where everyone had the most fun petting some of the many cats that live on the property! The stairs leading down from the solarium held two more rooms. Anna's Garden room. The other is Houghtelin Hideaway Room - wow! This was our room. While not technically an "old" part of the house structure, it oozed aged refinement. A large king bed was the highlight with the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept in! I seriously need to know what it was - I peeked under the sheets and did see a foam topper, but that couldn't be the whole secret! A big 1920s oak 'set-back" dresser gave ample room to put our clothes away. smart lamps on either side of the bed lent some modern convenience with USB ports, plugs, and such. A beautiful vanity sat as a use for either a desk or a vanity with a large mirror over. There is also a bench with a large mirror over - plenty of "getting ready" mirrors. A closet with overhead light helped to hold out garments, bags, with hooks set extra high for gowns and such. The other side of the room held a huge leather sofa that you just sink into! Chairs and tables allow this area to be a nice conversation nook. The bathroom was a masterpiece in itself! A huge walk-in stone shower with both a hand-held wall-mounted spray as well as an overhead rain shower head. They also supply shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in a wall-mounted dispenser. The enormous soaking tub was well used by myself three times! The vanity was well lit with so much room for things underneath with open shelves. A door out of the room at back led to a small patio area with a table and chairs and a path that leads directly to the wedding garden. Everyone there did everything possible to make my daughter's wedding weekend a magical event, and I truly hope we didn't overwhelm them too much! Right to the moment we pulled out on Sunday morning, watching the house fade in the mirrors behinds us - we knew we would be back again and again. This place felt like home. And one last - if you are holding an even there is none better than Connie to help you! She is an amazing, helpful, joy-filled, exuberant, AWESOMEDANCER, of an event coordinator!!

The establishment itself is of handsome construction, its brick walls bearing the quiet dignity of years well kept. The chambers are appointed with tasteful elegance, and though we have, in our travels, rested upon beds of somewhat greater softness, the comfort of the accommodations was by no means wanting. Yet it was at the breakfast table that the Inn's true excellence shone forth. The morning repast, prepared with notable skill by Mistress Patty and served by Hannah, was of such quality and abundance as to dispel any minor discomforts of the night. Their attentiveness and mastery of the kitchen rendered the meal a delight of the highest order, and I found myself most grateful for her gracious service. In sum, our stay proved exceedingly pleasant, and we departed with a sense of satisfaction and goodwill toward the proprietors. The Brickhouse Inn stands as a worthy refuge for the traveler, offering beauty, hospitality, and a breakfast most splendid indeed

There should be a sign that it is that's room parking spot. There is no signage and if you get there in the dark your screwed to even know it the right parking lot. I had high hopes for this B&B but it definitely fell short. If you're looking for a "spooky" place this may be it. It all seemed a bit fake to me. I did appreciate the 2 fake fireplaces we had in our room. It hit under 40 over our stay at night, these were great. If you have neck/back problem-bring your own pillows or whatever you need. The pillows reminded me of the deflating hospital pillows. Also, there's a shareable hot tub and we didn't know about it. Maybe because it was off season, things weren't running smoothly? Not sure.

Later, we discovered that much of the memorabilia exists because the Rosensteel family played a large role in the area's history! Cozy living, dining, and outdoor seating areas create a great environment where you can meet and chat with other guests, read any one of probably hundreds of available Civil War books, or observe the stunning scenery outside. Throughout our stay, our hosts were friendly and informative, with such amazing stories! Each day's breakfast was delicious (I'm talking to-die-for French toast and fresh strawberries!). I hope that as you read any of the negative reviews of this property (though there are few), you focus on the important criteria, not trivial concerns such as "the water for tea not being hot enough" (it was fine for me) or "Oh no! The public spaces in the inn were plentiful on both 1st and 2nd floors, and I felt very comfortable. Gaslight's location is in the heart of Gettysburg, and everything but the battlefield itself is an easy walk. That included places to eat and get ice cream.
