We booked this sorta last minute, got the Turn of the Century room for a very reasonable price compared to other B&B's in the area. The owners are super nice, informative, and accommodating to different arrival times. B&B is next to their art/antiques shop Aces High. All the stylized rooms are on the second floor with private bathrooms. There is a 24 hr continental breakfast and kitchen area stocked with yogurts, fruits, cereal, water, juices, and milk. It's very close to the battlefield and to the bars and shops downtown. 10/10 would stay again.

Age of Chivalry, Artifacts in room.

I was flying solo, so I stayed in the smallest (cheapest) room - Violet Room - and it was nice if not huge. Bed, bath, etc., were really nice. Room does have TV and wi-fi, but I was "on vacation" and did not use them that much. Mornings I went down, grabbed coffee, and sat out on the 2nd floor balcony reading and enjoying the view of the yard. Weather was great this visit, and this was hard to beat! The public spaces in the inn were plentiful on both 1st and 2nd floors, and I felt very comfortable. Gaslight's location is in the heart of Gettysburg, and everything but the battlefield itself is an easy walk. That included places to eat and get ice cream. I preferred this to being farther out, driving around, finding parking, etc. Hosts - Mike and Jennifer - were great, friendly, answered all questions, and helped with anything I wanted. If you are looking for a 9-room B&B experience with other nice people, want to enjoy the heart of the town of Gettysburg, and do not need a mega-hotel, the Gaslight Inn should be high on your list.

The Baladerry Inn is definitely still earning that 5 star rating!…read more We were only able to get away for a few nights and this was our first time trying a bed and breakfast instead of a hotel. My wife said it perfectly as we pulled away from the Inn. "I (we) don't know if this was just an exceptional experience, but we will absolutely try for a bed and breakfast in the future before returning to hotels." When we arrived Judy and Ken (the Innkeepers/owners) saw us coming and greeted us in the main house, we were checked in promptly and Ken gave us a nice tour around the property including some history and stories from the Inn's involvement in the Civil War. We went with the suite over in the carriage house, it was very roomy, comfortable, and super clean! The bed was a bit firm for our preference, but if you like a firm mattress you'll love it. We read through the binder of paranormal experiences during our breakfast the two mornings we were there and the food and service for breakfast was excellent. Great tasting and dietary needs met perfectly. Sadly, the binder was our only paranormal experience at the Inn. We felt very 'at ease' the entire time we were there and would definitely stay with the Baladerry Inn on a future visit to Gettysburg, there was so much more we could have seen/done and we learned that after we got there, the Inn is in perfect proximity to everything we were able to squeeze in! One small suggestion, the family staying in the cottage house at the same time as us were smokers, while they never smoked inside, they were smoking right outside of the main door to the carriage house multiple times as we came and went, not a very pleasant entrance/exit to the house for a non-smoker walking through the smoke of 3-4 smokers. Perhaps some type of covered smoking area away from the main entrance would help?

It is a beautiful setting situated on acres of open fields. Very quiet. Although near to many things, a car is necessary to get around. I didn't realize there was a hot tub on the premises and I imagine in the nicer weather people eat outdoors and have campfires at night. There were only a few couples staying at the Inn while I was there. The hosts Judy and Kenny are lovely people and kept us well Fed with delicious food in the morning. It's very laid-back with 24 seven coffee set up as well as snacks.

So much better than expected!…read more I'm not a huge fan of B&Bs. I prefer anonymity and quiet seclusion. That being said, I had such a nice time at the Swope. We got there toward dinner time, the recently had issues with the dinner chef so the inn was not an option. There are quite a few nice places to eat so I wasn't upset by this at all. The woman greeting us was so so very nice. She was giving another couple the 'tour', so we wandered around the downstairs for a bit. It's a beautiful historic home and a lot of good size rooms to explore. When it was our turn we were offered a cold beverage of our choice (wine for me of course) and given the rundown of the place. Staff leaves for the night and we were on our own, which was perfectly fine with us. Breakfast the next morning was amazing. We got to sit - 6 feet apart - from another couple and struck up a great conversation. There is also a nice back patio with a fire pit and plenty of seating. We had spoken to the couple the night before so it was nice to see a familiar face. As we spend our weekend speaking to more guests, it was apparent that most people were return visitors. They had missed their trip to the Swope in 2020 due to covid but now being able to get out, we're happy to be back. Wonderful staff, nice rooms, comfortable beds, amazing food and drink. What more could you ask for? Visit the Swope, you won't be disappointed l.
