After striking out at three previous spots (two in Albuquerque had min 45 to 60 minute wait; one in Who Knows Where, NM was closed on Mondays), we found Lisa's Diner. Right on rte 66, connected to the back of a truck stop. Our server, Kaitlyn, very helpful and efficient. I ordered a three egg omelet w jalapenos and mushrooms, hash browns, and sour dough toast. My best friend, The Scrubba, ordered an Albuquerque Turkey on wheat w coleslaw. Another benefit was that we are in Moriariry NM, the surname of a great friend, Ken the Kid. My omelet was eggggcellent, w just the right amount of heat. Scrubba also rated his sandwich a 4. I took two pics of the food, but they seemed to have disappeared into area 51.

Loved this place - not what I expected at all from a restaurant in a truck stop. The restaurant was clean and charming, with a timeline of the history of Moriarty from 1100BC to 1970, when the I-40 was finished. Service was fast, professional and friendly. I had the Chiles Rellenos, and they were the best I've had in soooooo long! Crispy and obviously fried to order with fresh Chiles hit the spot after a long day on the I-40. I'm not sure you can get better in ABQ - handmade food made from tried and true New Mexican recipes awaits you here. Don't let the truck stop location put you off. Lisa's Grill is the real deal, and worth the stop!

For where it is- not bad at all. First good, open breakfast after Amarillo (I left at 430am). Red Robin was different but hit the spot. Coffee is pretty bad. Bathrooms horrible. Friendly service. 4* since it's very remote.

The service was great. I ordered the red rooster, your choice of home fries, or hash browns, two eggs, and chicken fried steak. with your choice of toast and NM red chili. The chili has an excellent flavor without being overwhelming in heat. This is an excellent meal for the price and delicious.

    Red Rooster ~ terrific !

***** TRUCK STOP DINERS ... are not my preferred dining option :) ...and this Truck Stop did not look great from the outside either ... ... but I had a couple hours to kill, while my wife was occupied with a volunteer Medical conference, at the local High school .... Clean friendly convenient truck stop with a loyal following Food was terrific and the service from Joe was even better. I'm missing the Chicken fried steak, and will visit again if I'm ever in town. Nice staff and regular patrons, who enjoy friendly local banter with the staff, and each other. Worth a visit ... a really nice experience

Quaint cafe/diner nestled in the back of this truck stop. Offers great service and a variety of options with the full menu available all day. Portion sizes are big and you'll leave full. My omelette was over cooked and seasoning on the breakfast potatoes left it a bit bland. Otherwise, it was good.

Our experience here was excellent. I had the fish and chips with coleslaw and a dinner salad and it was all really delicious! My husband had the double burger and he also really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this place.

Chips and salsa with the burrito and huge Arnold Palmer sweet tea!

This place is super random but it's New Mexico it's all super random and that's what's fun about it. Don't take yourself so seriously and enjoy yourself. The food portions are huge from the sweet tea to the burritos. The wait staff are all super nice. I was shocked to see a Thai woman working there (I'm Thai). The town is like a couple thousand folks but has a decent amount of food places and things to shop and do. It's a stop on Route 66 and Lisa's is a truck stop for gas and food. So you see a lot of truckers coming alone and chatting up other truckers. It was kinda cool to see. It's designed really cute like part truck stop and part 40s diner. Lots of TVs to watch the games. They don't try to rush you out either. It was a very pleasant place to visit and I enjoyed the food. I'd definitely be back.

If I had known it is a gravy and sausage thing I would have went for bacon. So the food is decent, sorry not great. Hash browns were burnt. Biscuits tasted good and the portions will not disappoint. They say there is green chili. I'll have to try the next time through. I will be back for a few reasons. It is local and only tried one thing off the menu. Need to give them a chance for redemption

5 Stars - A Hidden Gem in Moriarty, NM…read more Chili Hills may not look like much from the outside, but don't let the unassuming exterior fool you--this place is fantastic! We stopped in for dinner based on the glowing Yelp reviews, and they were absolutely right. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine warmth and friendliness. The vibe was laid-back and local, with just a few other diners--it is Moriarty, after all--but the service was top-notch. Hubby was thrilled to see they serve all-day breakfast, so he went for the pancakes, and I ordered the combo fajitas (chicken and steak). While waiting, they brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was a bit too spicy for me, but no problem--they happily brought ranch dressing instead. Win! The food portions? HUGE. My fajitas were sizzling perfection--tender meat, just the right amount of peppers and onions, and all the fixings: guac, lettuce, cheese, salsa, tomatoes, and soft flour tortillas. So good. Five big ol' flavor booms. Hubby gave the pancakes two thumbs up--and he's picky about his pancakes, so that's saying something. Two hearty meals, drinks (yay for Diet Dr. Pepper!), friendly service, and all for around $45. Totally worth it. We'd go out of our way to eat here again on our return trip. Highly recommend this spot if you're anywhere near I-40 and need a satisfying, no-frills, home-style meal.

Without food, but you could bring your own or order in. Nope, the brewery closes at 5:00 on a Saturday. We asked at our lodging about options, and Blackie's was on a list they gave us. Blackie's was classified on Yelp as only a liquor store, so it didn't show up on any searches. They do have a package liquor store on site as well. The front entry that is shared with the liquor store had bars on the doors. Inside, Blackie's had VFW/event hall vibes. There was not much to speak of in the way of decor. They did have food and you need to order from the Double C dining room server, which shares the space, and if you're sitting at the bar you'll have a separate tab. I was glad to see they had enchiladas with green or red chile sauce, and burgers with green or red chiles (1/2 pound or 1/3 pound). Prices were reasonable at $12-ish for a meal. The bar and neighboring large room featured pool tables and darts, and a 20-ish year old TouchTunes but there was no music playing. Sounds like after the dinner crowd leaves the music might get turned up. Our vantage point view was staring into an empty room with booths and wooden chairs, but eventually some people filed in there to play pool. There was no internet on our AT&T phones which led us to watch rodeo tv and talk to some of the customers. I drank vodka tonics and the Mr. had Coors Banquet. Our bar tab was cheap. Mr. R ordered the nachos, and they were pretty huge. I ordered enchiladas with green chile sauce and the presentation was quite nice and the beef tasted fresh. It was a good choice. People had to wait a bit at times for drinks, but overall this turned out to be a better stop than we expected!
