Stopped to give this place a try. I use to come here when it was the Greenside Cafe. Nice, a little rustic interior with lots of windows and light. Staff was awesome. Okay, so, we are staying in a yurt in Tijeras and wanted to go have dinner so we drove 11 minutes to the Trail Rider! I read the reviews and had to come! This spot is cute. Right next to Triangle Grocery on 14. The place was pretty busy when we arrived at 6:30pm but we were seated right away and had great service from our waitress and we even had the owner come around. I had the second street brewery Agua Fria Pilsner, which I hadn't had and REALLY liked it. It is also gluten removed!! Woo hoo! My hubby had the La Cumbra Malpais Stout, which he drinks at home anyway. I ordered the Rueben. Now listen, I LOVE a good Rueben and hate a bad one. Don't we all. This Reuben was the BOMB! Trail Rider smokes their own pastrami and holy cow was this sandwich good! It was tasty! The rye was yummy, the sauerkraut was on point and the meat.... OMG. Listen, I ate the entire sandwich!! And the fries were tasty with enough salt that I didn't need ketchup. My hubby had the smash burger and ate most of it. The rest was lovingly placed in a to go box. We also got the Platinum bar - peanut butter, rice crispies and chocolate and my hubby got the mudslide. Which was Oreos and chocolate mouse and whipped cream. Both were yummy. There was a sign on the door they were short staffed but Kevin was on his A game. He was beyond pleasant and attentive. We tried several samples of beers before we decided. We waited 40 more minutes and were told our pizza had been sitting under the heat lamps for 30. And the server responsible laughed at her mistake in front of us. The manager tried to gaslight us and say there was nothing wrong. They have had bad service for a long time and continue to do so. I had heard good things about the pizza, but then noticed that there were a variety of vegan items on the menu so I had to try those. I will be back and try the pizza next time this is a great place to stop in after a hike on the east side of the Sandias! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, so whether and bug-depending, you can enjoy more outdoors! The place isn't huge, so I could imagine it might get crowded at various times of day, but it was pretty quiet at 7pm on a Saturday and I was a bit surprised. Anyway, the wait staff was all very friendly and our food came out quickly. They also have Tractor blood orange cider on tap, or at least did the evening we were there. I had the vegan meatball sub which came with fries. Since I'm not vegan, I did swap in the dairy-based cheese. The sandwich was delightful and huge. My first visit to this establishment. In the time I have lived in Albuquerque (little over 3 years) I have not done much up Tijeras and Cedar Crest Way. They featured Irish music tonight, so I ventured up and was pleased by 1. The scenic location 2. The food 3. The music. Staff greeted me warmly as I entered and were attentive during my time there. The decor is casual and comfortable. Although listed as pizza restaurant, the menu includes many other items as well. The beer and wine list looks good; I stuck with soda on this trip. I went with the vegan meatball sub. It included vegan cheese and came with side of fries. I do a lot of vegan cooking at home; ended up being very impressed with the vegan meatballs. Nice texture, good herbs and spices. Prices are on the low side! The music was very pleasant and importantly to me, was done at a subdued volume. I'll be back! read more

Cold New Years Day, long motorcycle ride need food and pickings are slim - most places are closed. But these guys are open and warm inside. Not too busy - go figure. Ordering was straight forward. A sole employee brought menus, got our drinks and took our order. 12" Supreme Pizza and Meat Ball Sandwich with Fries. The pizza came out hot, loaded with toppings. The crust was crisp, not soggy. Especially considering some of the toppings. The Sandwich was excellent, great flavor and plenty of cheese and sauce. Fries were great and tasty from unpeeled potatoes. I had a great meal with some friends a few weeks ago. The other day I was headed to town so called my daughter to see if she wanted anything. She had several guests over for March Madness. We live in Tijeras so when family is town we like to take them here. We always get the garlic knots they are so fluffy and seasoned well. Their pizzas are unique and no matter what we get its always good! The crust is my favorite too. The service is great, they are always kind and friendly. When we order over the phone they are so fast! Sometimes they have music or live bands play, we have never been for that but once we went after the show was over because we didn't know they were playing and it was packed! A fun evening it seemed. Based on one experience I am giving trail Rider Pizza four stars. So Labor Day weekend we head out of town family and they wanted Pizza. My nephew lives in Sandia Park and I think trail Rider is the only pizza place up in cedar Crest not sure. Anyway we ordered five assorted thin crust pizzas and they were I must say outstanding in presentation preparation and exquisite taste. Went to get pizza on the 4th of July. I noticed there was a dog left in a car around 2 PM. I went inside to order takeout but immediately spoke with the girl at the counter with black hair about the dog, who had clearly been out in the hot car for some time. It was easily 120 degrees in that car. The owner overheard us and stepped up to me, asking if I had broken the window of his car--which, in New Mexico, is legal in order to rescue an animal in danger, but i did not. This heartless individual was apparently on his way out and didn't even know about the law nor did he care, he said outside, its just a dog. The girl at the counter then got mad at me for trying to save the dog and causing a scene about what was clearly a savage disregard for life. She said, "He's on his way out--you can leave now too." So I was kicked out of their business before I could even place an order with my family sitting in the car, simply for trying to protect a dog that Trail Rider Pizza showed no concern for. I later called the manager to explain the situation. I was angry about how the staff, especially the girl with black hair, showed no concern for the dog or for the way I was treated. The manager was condescending on the phone and clearly didn't care about the situation either. I would not support this company. They are a heartless bunch--especially the girl with black hair at the counter. all i wanted to do was order a pizza for my family, instead i was kicked out for trying to saving a dog in a hot car. read more

This place was fantastic. Family of 5 coming off the trails straight here for some pizza. We were greeted with smiles, sat quick, got beer quick (& cold), and ordered quick. While waiting we listened to great music and played games off of the game shelf. Our youngest was a little loud and we received 0 bad looks. So many pizza choices and vegetarian and vegan options. They have the impossible burger, vegan cheese stake sandwich, so many others including the Vegan Meatball sub which is what I got. I have never had a vegan meatball sub before, or a real meat meatball sub, vegetarian from birth.. so take my word as you will but this was the best first vegan meatball sub that I have ever had!! Even my husband who is a meat eater said it was good if that helps lol they also make the bread in house and I must say it was delicious. The fries were really good and quite a generous serving size. The hubby agreed they were good as well. Hubby got a cheese pizza with vegan pepperoni he wasn't overly thrilled with the vegan pepperoni but he got it for me. Lol I thought it was good and the crust is delicious. He also really enjoyed the rest of the pizza crust said it could have more cheese but that was his only comment. We also got dessert to take home. A pecan cinnamon roll and the Platinum bar. I love anything peanut butter and chocolate so of course I had to get the platinum bar.
