The dish is $14 something and then $3 something for the tofu. Again wishing I had taken a photo.. But the one with regular tofu barely had any and the one with extra was still meager at best.. and for being charged 9 dollars for tofu when I can by a hole block myself for $2 is ridiculous... Our server was great nothing on him, he did a wonderful job. But for the price and what we got it was not worth it.. I don't know if we will be back anytime soon.. read more

My guest and I were coming back into Albuquerque and decided to grab a bite to eat in Cedar Crest...excellent decision! Greenside Cafe not only had friendly, attentive, and professional staff like Tara and Miss Emily, but the FOOD!!! (We will make a point to drive to Cedar Crest just to dine here now.) I'm definitely a fried chicken expert. Their fried chicken sandwich is one of the best ones I have ever had. They start with a chicken breast that is buttermilk battered and fried, and is then topped with a gochujang aioli and kimchi slaw. PERFECTION on a brioche bun. House made chips! My guest had the slow cooked beef brisket enchiladas...shredded and stacked between white corn tortillas with cheddar and jack cheese. Served with basmati rice, and bacon pinto beans, X-mas all around. (I was so blissed out eating my sandwich that I didn't get photos of his meal.) The ambiance is nice. Pleasant, clean, not pretentious. Both food and service have been hit or miss in the last few years. Locals talk as though it has been excellent and has declined. My own experience is back and forth. Pleasant enough service. Sometimes good. Sometimes absentee. Sometimes things missing. Food is similar. The chef has down well and the menu looks good but the cook... sometimes good, sometimes grossly underdone, sometimes just sloppy. I also find it difficult to catch them open. Their hours are never what I expect. My interpretation of all of this is that someone has excellent ideas but that the daily management is struggling. I can't guess why although rumors abound. Amazing place. My boyfriend and I ate here for dinner while visiting Sandia Crest on a roadtrip. Staff was so courteous and seemed to genuinely enjoy working with each other. Very refreshing atmosphere. Food was amazing. We shared are meals with each other and both were amazing. I ordered the Sangre De Cristo with delicious berry sauce on the side, and he ordered the Korean Chicken sandwich with kimchi slaw. Both were flavorful. The crunch on the chicken was AMAZING and perfection. Batter was not greasy or soggy. I don't think even so called "chicken only" places have perfected the fried batter like this place has! Regular fries as well and sweet potato fries were also perfectly crisp on the outside while being soft in the middle, both with great flavor. Highly recommend this place. Also: one of the waitresses is an artist and her wildlife paintings are for sale and on display on the walls. I happened to sit right next to a beautiful piece and I bought it before leaving. Coming to Greensides used to be our coveted Sunday outing. Since it has changed owners, it has faced significant challenges with staffing and service. We keep trying to come back but repeatedly suffer the consequences. Today, it took over 5 minutes to be seated even though there were numerous open and available tables. We got seated, but, after waiting 45 minutes to be waited on, WE LEFT and went down the road to Ribs. Almost an hour of our precious Sunday wasted by this restaurant's poor management! read more

I went last night with my daughter and we got the worst service ever. Not even friendly staff. It took a little over an hour to get our food out because they served our food at the wrong table and after our order got out they didn't even get the plate well put together after a whole hour of waiting my daughter was still missing her rice on her plate. During that whole hour they barely came back to check up on us not even to ask us if we want more water or anything. It's very disappointing because my daughter always gets takeout from here and we never dined in and that's the first experience we got from the place dining in. Mango vinaigrette salad dressing is awesome. My burger was pretty standard, nothing super special. The top of the bun was excellent. Service was great, we had three ladies rotating in to check on us on the patio and our actual waitress was super nice and brought my friend an ice cream for her birthday. We've been eating at The Greenside for over a decade. But we won't be going back anymore. The food has gotten progressively worse. The restaurant always has a vague smell of sewage except for the last time we went and it smelled so strong - the host told us a lot of staff were out sick with a stomach bug and he had just had it too. We marched right back out. GROSS!! The last time we actually ate there, I found a big chunk of avocado skin in my guacamole and the food was bland. The specials are just terrible now. Very subpar compared to what it used to be. Well it was a good run but I don't see The Greenside surviving this new ownership/management. It's too expensive to be this bad. read more

I just had a pretty unbelievable experience with the Greenside Cafe. We've been eating here for well over a decade and never been treated this way. My husband and I are both sick. We ordered a burger and peanut noodles so we wouldn't have to cook. We live a good distance away as many people in the EM do. When we got home we realized my husbands burger bun was totally burnt. It's a $14 burger. They wanted us to come back to the restaurant so they could remake it or take $5 off the price of the burger. That's like an hour and half of our time spent going back and forth to fix something that they should have checked before sending out of the kitchen. Considering we had already paid for a meal that wasn't made correctly it seems like pretty bad customer service to force us to drive back to the restaurant. I requested a total refund for the burger which feels pretty reasonable. The person I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude and should not be your front of house representative. She told me five dollars was the best they could do since we didn't want to come back to the restaurant. I told her there was no way we could come back and that I wanted a refund for the burger. She said simply said "Okay" in a condescending tone and hung up the phone. I attempted to call back to speak to a manager but I imagine she was the manager. I won't expect a refund but I'll be delighted if I get one. One thing is certain, we won't be returning to Greenside anymore. I hope the $14 was worth a lifetime of patronage. Food was not as good as it used to be. Service was slow. Prices were reasonable. My friend and I had a dinner date there earlier this evening. We were sat at one of the high tops by the patio. Our server appeared to also have the to go orders. She was clearly overwhelmed. We had a near full glass of iced tea spill. It took several minutes to get her attention to get it cleaned up. Then she forgot to refill the glass of tea. It took several more minutes to get her attention again. Later when we were waiting to check out another server must have seen the frustration on my face because he cleared our table, got the ticket, and cashed us out. This place fell on my radar a couple of months ago after reading their claim to having the best Chicken fried steak in New Mexico. I personally love CFS and I've had quite a few across the state. First impression when driving up is that they weren't very busy on an early Sunday morning. To me that's when these breakfast/brunch type restaurants usually have a wait time. We were greeted when we walked in and we sat in a booth looking out at the mountains, really nice. Our server was friendly and took our order quickly but didn't really go over the menu with us or what the restaurant had to offer or even ask us if we wanted appetizers or dessert so maybe she was new or she didn't care. On to the food. I had the huevos fried steak Christmas style with pinto beans and potatoes. I believe this style of their CFS is only served on Sundays? Their website claims The best CFS in NM? My CFS was decent sized nothing huge like Vic's or Rutilios. It's breading tasted a lot like a relleno type batter and was really good. The green chile was ok, not any heat to it but, the red chile was delicious! Not hot but really good flavor. The potatoes were good but the beans were some of the best pinto beans I've had in a long time but they were skimpy with the portions. I sure would've loved more beans! Is it the best CFS in the state? Not IMO but it's definitely something you need to try for yourself and because it's not the best (imo) does not mean it's not almost the best, so with that being said I'd definitely recommend coming to the Greenside cafe and trying it for yourself at least once. We stopped in after finding this location on Yelp. It reminded me of a resort town type pub with menu items catered to that type of crowd. The owner was our waiter and was very friendly. He had a good recommendation for a brew to try that worked out well. I ordered the Peanut Udon Noodles with Chicken. I love peanut sauce, and the food was very good. First timer in this particular restaurant, We were looking forward to a good meal close to where we live. My partner's food was okay according to him, but mine was terrible. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak dinner to go as we are working on cleaning up the house after new floors were laid and time is not on our side. First, when I entered the door and stood by the "Stand here to be seated" podium and was passed by at least six service persons without any acknowledgment I was even there. My name was on a paper bag sitting on the front counter and it took about five minutes for someone to ask what I needed. I pointed to the bag and said, "That's me," so they grabbed the bag and rang me up. It's when I got home I realized, after asking for extra gravy, I found instead, it had none at all. I called the restaurant and they said I could come in and they could give me some gravy. Okay, that's not unreasonable, but I thought that a new meal would be in order, made to my original specifications. Extra gravy, no vegetables and a side salad. I got the side salad, but the worst part was, they had a nice helping of mashed potatoes dumped on top of some soggy vegetables with what looked like a large Fried Steak and no gravy in a "paper bag box". It didn't look very appetizing in the least. As I started to eat, I noticed that the batter used to make the Fried Steak was large, but the actual meat was minuscule compared to its outside appearance. I have never seen anything quite like it, and since I won't go back again, I hope I never see something like that again. It seems to be a busy place, so apparently a lot of people seem to like it, but for us, going next door to Trailrider Pizza where you get what you paid for is going to be our quick fix when we either don't have the time to cook, or just want a quick meal. read more
