The Canteen openly discriminates against Vet I'm an Army Veteran, 2 combat tours in Iraq as an Army Medic. I have never been disrespected like this before in my entire life. I urge all of my fellow Veterans to boycott this establishment based upon The Canteen's blatant disrespect towards human life and complete disregard towards common decency. I'm a long standing brew club member. I walked into the bathroom to find one of my best friends without a pulse or breathing in the bathroom. I started CPR on him, did two cycles of CPR requested through the bartender Anna to call 911 and tell AFD and APD that there is a cardiac arrest in progress. Thankfully through my efforts, I was able to resuscitate him. Flash forward to mid October, the server / bartender Anna felt "uncomfortable due to the situation" and that "I shouldn't be served" Anna obviously has a subjective agenda for no apparent reason. You would think that The Canteen would welcome someone who saved a life in their bathroom. I received a follow up comment from the co-owner of the Canteen Tap Room which was polite. However, his response failed to address the overall negative and subjective behavior of the bartender / server Anna in terms of the way that she treated me. I honestly can't believe that The Canteen would employ someone like Anna who has zero empathy and who doesn't care about human lives. Nicely decorated brew pub with both indoor and semi enclosed outdoor seating. We ordered a lager and a cider, both were excellent. The pretzel bites with fondue and great. We also split their French onion grilled cheese. Messed up though and forgot to add the green chilies. The menu said the onions are braised in beef broth. Didn't really get that flavor but it was still tasty. Service was a bit slow, but they have a three beer maximum so maybe that's why. read more

I live in the Heights and there aren't a ton of breweries and such around but canteen is always a good option. I specifically appreciate their food menu. I ordered an Alpine, but one of my friends got the Pigmac and that was definitely the winner. We also shared some of their spinach and artichoke dip, which is very good. They have a good amount of different sandwiches along with shareable appetizers. I came on a Monday for their trivia night, which was very fun and different than some of the other trivia offerings around town. I will say it was very busy that night, and seating was limited. My only wish is that they would offer a few more cider options or alternatives for the non-beer drinkers. I totally get why they primarily focus on beer but just something that usually I look at when choosing spots for hangouts. read more

This is our go to place on Monday nights as this is a great taproom and they have Brain Gang Trivia that evening. What's not to love? Great beer and wine! Excellent service! They have good sandwiches, amazing chili, and yummy snacks including a spinach dip called The Spin Art. The taproom is a nice place both inside and outside. Some friends sent me over here after raving about the pretzels and homemade root beer. After hearing about the root beer, I was sold. We came on Thursday afternoon. They had fire pits on the "patio" and a Christmas tree set up in the corner. I liked the vibe of the place. Joel, our server, was friendly and attentive. It was $3.50 for a large glass of root beer (I didn't know there were free refills too until we asked for a to go cup!). The nachos at the other table looked tasty. The spinach and artichoke dip, as well as the hummus were both introduced as some of the taproom favorites. We settled on the Burque hummus with green chile. It came out fresh (and you could tell no preservatives like the store bought ones) with a little hear and 8 mini baguette slices (I believe for $4.99?). Can't wait to come back for the pretzels! It's been a minute since I last visited a canteen brewery! The last time I visited one was precovid over at the one near Comanche and i25. After going to Sushi Xuan my buddy and I were craving a brew. To our surprise the place doesn't open til 2pm. Considering they serve food I would've thought they'd be open by noon. We hung around Sushi Xuan until then. Being the first time since precovid going to Canteen I had to refresh my memory on the beers they offered. My friend wanted some more grub so he ordered the pretzel bites. I ended up just getting an Amber and calling it a day. The staff was friendly and all were covid safety complaint wearing masks and gloves. The brew was good and I tried a pretzel bite. The pretzel was soft and fresh combined with the cheese it reminded me of cheez wiz for some reason but it was good non the less. My next visit to Sushi Xuan, I plan on returning and giving more stuff a try there. Oh and check out the urinal in the men's restroom you'll get a kick outta the shaped! It's a Keg! Lol read more

Each time I visit a new town I try to find my "home spot" - you know, the place where you can go by yourself and feel completely at home. For me in Albuquerque, the Canteen Taproom is that spot. The "home spot" becomes just that not just because of the atmosphere alone, but also it is due to the level of greeting one receives upon arriving, the level of attentiveness, the offerings - in food and drink, etc. I have been to the Canteen Taproom at least 10 times already, and each time it feels more like my home spot. I have come here on my own, with family, and with folks from my meetup group. The servers have a 'one face to the client' type of approach. So while you may have one person take your order, another may deliver your food and drinks, and another may fill your glasses or bring your check. I think their beer and food menus are not huge, but have good offerings and the prices are very reasonable. I absolutely love their chili. A cup comes with enough chips to fill my belly. Beers come in several sizes, and the board on the patio provides ABV values. All-in-all, I love the Canteen Tap Room. read more

My husband and I decided to stop by on our way out of Town and we are glad we did. He tried the Citranova and the summer ale and he ended up with the summer ale. After a day walking in this heat and doing the tours he wanted something refreshing and the Summer Ale really hit the spot! We ordered the Cheese and Pretzel bites and the BBQ pulled pork slider. They were very good and we enjoyed the pick me up they gave. Now here is where I was disappointed however they so made up for it. I ordered the Mango-Apple Cider and it was amazing! I ate it with the crisp pickle from the slider and it was so refreshing and delicious I wanted more. I looked on Yelp and saw they had a charcuterie option that looked amazing and would have paired so amazing with the cinder BUT our server said they were still at a limited menu at this time and didn't have it. I was so disappointed because it was our last day there and we missed being able to have it. HOWEVER!!! This amazing server and location was willing to make me a veggie bowl of tomatoes, cucumber and radishes with a side of ranch and it was exactly with I needed. My friend and I went there for an early lunch after our morning hike. The server was friendly and brought two bowls.of water for the dogs. It was my first time visiting this place so I had no expectations. I looked over the menus and there were some interesting items. We ended up ordering a charcuterie board to share, a tomato basil flat bread, and green Chile chicken sausage topped with Sri racha sauerkraut - recommended by the server. I usually ask for a recommendation from the server to see what they enjoy. The server came with condiments for our foods including a bottle of hot oil for the charcuterie board. The oil seemed good but it didn't have much taste. The food arrived very quickly because we were the only table at that time so we got all the attention - - the board was big with three types of cheese, three types of meat, a pile of pickled olives and petite pickles, and a half loaf of warm bread. The flat bread looked very appetizing and the sausage looked great. We digged in pretty quickly as we were hungry. The flat bread was fresh but lack seasoning. It had no taste whatsoever. The sausage was good and fresh but it also tasted a bit bland. Without the sauerkraut, this roll might be another flat note for taste. The board was good for sharing and everything tasted good. I will give this place another try, there are some dishes that I want to try. I also want to see how the service is when they are busy. read more

I was sabotaged. Yes, yes I was. I was just sitting at home minding my own business. All dressed and ready to hit my gym for some of that me time, after a few episodes of the Nurse Jackie that is. As I was finishing my second and final episode of the night a phone call came through on my telephonic device! An actual phone call!! Blast this must be important. People do no call anymore! New joint in the strip mall found at Cloudview and Tramway. Just what they needed to join the Japanese eatery next door, nail shop, laundromat and even yoga spot already there. We sat outside in the patio which has a very cool, industrial theme.Corrugated metal, wood and cinder block making up the look and feel of the place. They have a good variety of beer choices accompanied with food. Yes food! No need to rely on the token food truck here! I tried two of their IPA's and look forward to trying some of the other options as well. My girlfriend had the stout which made me jealous, I should have perused the menu more! We live near Canteen and drop in several times a month. Tonight was our last visit. The beer was good but the food (sandwiches) were barely warm. Our issue was with the music being played. Rap is not my favorite but i don't have a problem with it. What I do have a problem with is listening to music that is full of expletives. We nicely asked our waitress if it could be changed and she obviously consulted with the bartender and he obviously said no. At that point she studiously avoided our table until it was time to bring the check. We would have stayed for more beer but it was clear she was now uncomfortable coming back. She shouldn't have felt that way, it was not her fault. There were approximately 15 customers. 3 of them looked to be in their 20's and the rest were 60+. Really not the f bomb kind of crowd. We walked in for lunch and we're greeted by a friendly bartender. He promptly brought us menus and asked us if we wanted a minute to look everything over. When he came back we ordered our drinks. I had fresh brewed iced tea that he had just made. It was not the least bit bitter. My husband had a beer. He said he always gets my love their IPAs it was my first time there. I have never seen a menu like this one. The items were not the same old "barfood". They had a French dip sandwich with an IPA mustard, caramelized onions, au jus flavored with Stout. The pairing of the Stout with the mustard took this up three notches from any other sandwich I've ever had. I also tried the beer cheese with salted pretzel bites. The pretzel bites were delicious and such a compliment to the fabulous sauce. Just reading the menu was a treat. It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to eat because everything sounded perfect. I asked the bartender who created the menu and he said one of the of, owners is a chef and he did it. I was not surprised this menu was created by a chef not just a dude wanting to have sandwiches at the bar. I will absolutely go back. This place is only a mile from the house and well worth the trip if I lived on the other side of town. I would drive 20 or 30 minutes to get here because it's worth it. es, I live in New Mexico and don't like spicy food. I had a taste green chili slaw. I wasn't sure what to get at first since everything sounded amazing. I finally went with the green Chile chicken sausage with kraft beer sauerkraut. Chad got the B&BLT (burrata, bacon, arugula, and heirloom tomatoes). Both came with a side of chips. Once we ordered, our food arrived in mere minutes. Thankfully I was still alive to take a bite and boy was that sausage flavorful! It has a nice snap to the skin with a great green Chile flavor throughout. The sauerkraut was a perfect compliment and I liked the pickles it came with as well. Chad devoured his sandwich before I could even ask for a bite. I realized that all the times I've checked in here I've never shared my thoughts and why it's a must come visit. It's awesome to have an establishment that serves delicious beers, great brewery food with a twist and the all important dog friendly patio, oh and service with a smile. If we are looking for a place for a couple of beers and some good grub to enjoy, that is close to home, this is our new go to spot. I can't say I've ever come and had a bad experience, it's seat yourself and shortly after you are met with the beer list and food menu. I always looks looking at their draft specials to see if I find a new favorite but if nothing pulls my interest I'm always happy with the Dougie (does anyone else do a little dance when they say that? Nope just me? Oh well!). For food, the must order appetizer are the pretzel bites with beer fondue. Yes beer + pretzels + cheese = perfection. I do believe the Tramway Taproom location has a different menu then the Brewhouse so I guess that means you'll just have to visit both. Came out for the beer week beer and taco pairing. I had the Social Capital, which is a guava sour, for an appetizer. It was pretty good. The beer and taco pairing ended up being a flight of their regular beers, most of which we've had in the past and liked. The street tacos for the pairing were good too. They had chicken, veggie, carne asada, and pork, all of which went pretty well with the beers they were served with. The establishment itself is small, but nicely done. Something I've never seen before in the men's room was urinals made out of beer kegs! Just something a little off that I thought was interesting. Checked out Canteen on a Tuesday afternoon after a post-work workout (try saying that 5 times fast lol) the biggest thing I noticed is that there seems to be m established sense of community here which I love. I'm introverted by nature but love being in a lively bar. I got the Hazy vision, 8.5 abv. I like getting the higher abv beers for two reasons. It's fun. And I want to see if a brewery sacrifices taste for a higher abv. I'm happy to report that this is a tasty double IPA, along the lines of the Elevated from LC but i don't think it has as much as a bite as the elevated. Regardless, I appreciate the the beer itself and the sense of a friendly clientele as well as beer tenders. Kudos!! read more

Let's start with a summary...I prefer the original. Canteen's new Eastside taproom is smaller than the original location with a seat-yourself approach. It seems that they are understaffed. It was rare that staff was coming around to check on new orders or getting food out. Our server was lacking knowledge about the beer styles or descriptions of seasonals. The acoustics make for some loud, contained noise which means it's difficult to hear anyone that's not sitting next to you. There is a parking lot but don't be fooled. Just park on the street to the west of the building. The food menu is a bit larger than the original, mostly sandwiches, brats, a few soups, and some snacks. All in all, it's fine, but I would rather trek out to Candelaria for my Canteen brews. read more
