Since the brewery was a short walk from our AirBnB, we decided to stroll over for a beer before dinner. (Because we only had a beer my review is limited--read other reviews to learn about any food that they serve.) They have a nice patio and plenty of indoor seat at tables or the bar, so even though the parking lot was pretty full, it was not overly crowded despite being fairly busy. The patio area is "dog friendly." The bartender was friendly and promptly poured the beer we selected -- "Hoptoberfest" -- a refreshing German marzen style. Despite the name, beer was lightly, but appropriately hopped, far less than an IPA, so don't let the name scare you away if you don't like hops. I enjoyed my beer and found it to be a good, though not outstanding, example of the "Oktoberfest" style. I'd be interested trying their other beers but I'm only in town for a few more days. In the Village of Los Ranchos - I'd just gotten my hair done at Christens Salon in front and decided to mosey on back to the Hops Brewery restaurant in back. The thought of their Green Chili Cheese Burger was too strong to ignore and the timing was perfect. The server was very helpful in deciding which beer so I decided on the "New Kid" beer which was a very good choice. It complimented the GCCB just right. It also came with a perfect Coleslaw and slice of dill pickle. The Coleslaw was crunchy with a little bit of black pepper and green chili to compliment the burger and perk up a typically bland salad. Id definitely order it again. A delicious blend and nothing overpowered the other. But the GCCB with their "Hops sauce" was as wonderful as I remembered it. The meat was cooked just as I'd ordered it... medium rare/well...Not overcooked. The meat was Not a frozen patty but made to order. My fabulous GCCB and beer meal came to $19.00 plus tax and it was soooo worth it. The servers, Karina and Kate, got my order perfect and the service was great. There was a nice afternoon crowd growing and I could tell that a lot were regulars. They have a very good menu and I'll try something new next time. The atmosphere and decor were wonderful with lots of carved wood so it's a very comfortable place to come. There's a nice large outdoor eating area PLUS this restaurant is DOG FRIENDLY!!! They have water bowls for your BFFs. Forget the fast food drive thrus and come here. read more

Ken Wimmer's beer is as unique as the adobe church building where it is served. Hops has three patios, one is east facing with a great view of the Bosque and the Sandia Mountains. The two others welcome customers on the front, west facing side. Back to the beer. Tipsy Cow, Dad Joke, Hop Hill and Irish Tan are all a good menu too. The brewery is a gem in the middle of Los Ranchos. The building and atmosphere of the place is uniquely Albuquerque. This one is a hidden gem! I didn't know this was a place until a friend of mine invited me over for lunch. They have a dog park!!! Their patio seating is an off-leash dog park. That is such a neat idea! The green chile cheese burger I ordered was massive. And made me full pretty quickly. I'm not much of a drinker, but I enjoyed trying the flights with a friend. Had a business meeting here and this was the first time I've ever been here and he Los Ranchos. This place is a hidden gem! The food was absolutely amazing, no joke! Everybody enjoyed the food, and they had a full bar. It was an awesome experience all the way from the atmosphere, friendly staff , to the cleanliness of the place. Spoke to the owner who came by to personally ask if everything was good. What a great conversation and also to learn that they are opening up a second location. 14 of us came for food / drinks on a Tuesday around 3:30. This location opens at 3 pm. Minimal staff on hand at that time (not uncommon). SUMMARY POINTS: - Staff - Stacey the manager was kind, efficient and accommodating. - Kitchen - same deal - quick and efficient - Venue - lovely place - was a church in the past. The windows wood, and outside patio areas are truly special. - Location - pretty easy to find if you use GPS. The actual building is tucked in and pushed back off of the street. - Food - everyone liked what they got. No complaints, although I have to admit that my hummus plate with the buttered bread was a bit different. - Beer/drink options - Nice variety -- and they change often COMMENT 1: USE THE WALL BOARD TO ORDER BEER. Don't expect the options that are online to be available. The manager will tell you that options change frequently because they are a "true craft beer brewer". Ask your server what is not on the menu / not on the menu. COMMENT 2: While they do not provide individual checks for groups, they will allow each person to pay individually. Ok, I still love this place but this time I feel I can give a more thorough review. Last time we only had the beer which is still a very solid 5 stars. Unfortunately they were out of 2 (maybe 3??) of the ones on the menu which just plain sucks when there's only roughly 10 on the list. The ones we did have knocked it out of the park (an IPA and the Chica) though. This go around, we opted to have dinner here. The menu is bar food but that's ok. Unfortunately though, I had to knock a star for the food and the service this time wasn't as great as it was the first time. I won't be eating here again unless we have no other choice or just need a small appetizer. We had the Fiesta Burger and the Brisket Nachos. The burger was mediocre at best and definitely not worth its $12. It was overcooked- like rubbery and barely resembling beef (I actually had to check that it wasn't some weird veggie patty). The green chile was instead chopped fresh jalapenos. Not a huge deal but it wasn't roasted, seasoned or anything. It was just...there. A drive thru burger was better than this. Blake's is 5 star gourmet compared to what this was. The nachos were also just ok. Finding the brisket was like playing "Where's Waldo?" because there was hardly any. The queso was basically gas station queso so calling it "house made" is a bit of a stretch. I mean, this queso is still delicious because it's queso but there was nothing special about it unless heating it up from the giant can from Costco now counts as "house made." There was also copious amounts of BBQ sauce just sorta dumped on it. The nachos were leaps and bounds better than the burger and we didn't feel as ripped off with the price but there was still a bit of room for improvement. So, based on food I'd give this place maybe a 3 and that's generous but the atmosphere is still amazing and unique. Averaging it out, I've updated my rating to a 4. Go for the beer, don't stay for the food unless you are desperate or have had enough beers that you don't care. read more

This is not like any other brewery around town. The patio is filled with beautiful flowers and succulents surrounding the table and chairs to enjoy the outdoors. As you walk in you immediately notice the beautiful craftmanship of the dark exposed vigas! There are a couple stained glass windows where the light comes in at just the right time. This is no ordinary brewery! The staff are locals from the NV, friendly and helpful with a story or two to tell. They serve a few appetizers but on weekends they have a food truck avallable. Not many breweries in the NV, this one is a must see which certainly stands out from the rest. I know I will be back for a glass of "chicka" or just a quick drop in to say "HI"! read more

Hops Brewery is located just down the street from where I live - I may just make it my go-to local place for good. They have a large outdoor space, set back from 4th St so you hardly hear the traffic. Rain was threatened the evening we went so we sat under the covered patio. I had my dog with me and she was welcomed by the servers and the owner. I brought a bowl for her and the server checked in several times to make sure she had enough water. The beer is good and reasonably priced. My friend was offered a taste of a beer and the server brought it out quickly so my friend was assured that she would like it. They have a nice New Mexico-influenced menu and the food is ample and tasty. Despite other reviews complaining about service, we were very well taken care of - the staff was friendly, attentive, and brought our orders out in a very timely fashion. They both brew in house and offer a variety of local fares on tap... in house beers are pretty great, and there is something for everyone. The location is great, and the building is clean and open concept... is looks like it is a renovated church? Regardless, the windows are a cool stained glass and give a warm feeling. We have come here multiple times just for their sandwiches but today will be the last time we visit. We ordered one of their wine and cider drinks, the prices weren't listed on the menus so we incorrectly assumed they would be ~$10 since it was mostly cider, we had four total. We ordered two sandwiches ($13 each) and a side of salsa to share, we did order the larger size which we again incorrectly assumed it would be ~$5 since an appetizer with chips and salsa was $7. We handed our cards over to pay and were told the total was $49 so we clarified if that was each or total and were told each, we said dang how much were the drinks if the total was $98 and our bartender just repeated how many items we had. We said okay because clearly we weren't going to get more explanation than that. I took an itemized receipt and we were charged for the wrong drinks (shittier show vs shitshow which had an added shot), $14 for the side of salsa and the sandwiches were correct. I called to verify the price of the shit show drink and was told it was $12 and I was told the salsa shouldn't have been $14 and we could come back in to fix it, I told them we couldn't come back right this second and he said that's how they could fix it so I told him I guess we just won't ever come back and he said ok thanks and hung up on me. Overall, we were overcharged $19 if we were charged for the full chips and salsa appetizer rather than just the side of salsa we requested. The prices should be posted and the bartenders should focus on ringing in the correct items. read more

I really liked this place! We only went for drinks so I can't speak to their food. First of all, the atmosphere of this place is great! They clearly had a great vision when they redid this building and everything from the bar to the bathrooms were really nice. We tried a few different beers and enjoyed them. They also served decent local wines so I see this as a big plus since I normally drink wine. It looked like they had a good selection of sandwiches but I didn't really check out the food. Someone at our table had a loaded hot dog which my husband said looked really good. It's tucked just off fourth street in the north valley so it could by easy to miss but don't. Such a beautiful place. Serene location with gorgeous finishes. Oh yeah, the beer is awesome too! Started with the Black Cherry Cider which is not what I would ordinarily choose, it was pretty good. Their house Honey Wheat was what made my mouth happy. Light but still full of body and flavor. Definitely will be my go-to beer for now. Husband had 2920 IPA and ordered another of the same so that means it's good. They regularly have food trucks and Don Choche Tacos across the street also delivers there so win/win on the food front. Long story not so short...I will most definitely return and will put this place in my normal rotation for sure! One thought is that they might wanna consider a patio on the East side of the building to take advantage of the shade in the evening time.
