"I'm gettin' corns/blisters for my Country.. At the Querque Canteen.. The hardest workin' junior hostess.. You've ever seen.. I'm doin' my bit down here for The Duke.. I'm a patriotic jitterbug.. That you can't rebuke. It was a rainy day...cold and wet.. We dried off comfortably at the "Canteen Brewhouse".. The Lass drank 5 sample Beer glasses, tasting of.. 1. "Cabana My Lager" 2. "High Plains Pilsner" 3. "Autumn Rose Vienna Lager" 4. "Dougie Style Amber" 5. "Pecos Trail Brown" Her Fav w. a smile..."Dougie"..:) The Lad, knowing his way around the Canteen, drank a Goblet Glass of "Wicked Raven" a Russian Imperial Stout at ~10.5% ABV, w. flavors of dark cocoa, coffee, dark fruit (raisins, dates), and toffee, with a smooth, creamy texture..:) Yes, Wickedly Good Mon..:) We shared the "Alpine" sandwich on a hoagie with fresh-cut roast beef, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, dijon mustard, green chile w. au jus.. Quite juicy delish sammie..:) The Canteen Brewhouse is a historic brewery, for good reason..:) "Performing in the dramas, arts and the ballet.. But, the theatre guild came over and said, 'Forget about being an Anna Pavlova'.. 'Learn to cut a rug'.. So now we're jitterbugs"..:) Best, Avram Drewsistas Jr.

Great patio with Adirondack chairs! Awesome relaxing vibe and tasty beer! Service was great and friendly and they have their own parking lot.

Amazing little spot. Too bad it was the end of our evening so I could only try one of their brews. They have so many choices! On night of my visit they had live music too. We also got a pretzel and it was tasty and hit the spot. They have a book exchange too!

First time visit to Canteen Brewhouse. I was invited to come after the 5K race my BIL was in. I arrived as soon as they opened. They were still setting up, but we were allowed to seat wherever, so I chose a round table in the corner, closest to the restrooms. A kind server took my order and explained a few things. She gave the kids paper and crayons to entertain themselves. She suggested the Housemade Root Beer 16oz vs 20oz since you get a Free refill, so I ordered that. I also ordered the German Pretzel with fondue (but they were out), so it came with ranch and spicy mustard, and the Cubano Sandwich. I received my root beer right away, and waited about 10 min for the pretzel. Then, rest of my party joined us. I waited about 30 min before asking about the Cubano Sandwich, in which another server said that they were pretty backed up, showing us the long tickets. We were also next to the food export station. So, I had been eyeing it for awhile. I tried to give them benefit of the doubt, but I can tell that my ticket was misplaced bc as it started getting busier, everyone else was getting their food and drink orders already. Finally, after an hour, I spoke up, and that server said that it could've gotten lost, and that she'll get it out ASAP. Thankfully, another server started to take the rest of the party's orders, so I added a Green Chile Hummus with tortilla chips, thinking that it would arrive sooner. Eventually, after everyone got their food, my Cubano Sandwich and Hummus arrived at separate times. The Sandwich was hot and the cheese was stretchy at least. It got really chaotic as time progressed bc majority of customers were the racers. So, I understand the service was trying their best without a kitchen and just a bar. I got my root beer refill and asked if I could get another To-Go, which was supposed to be an extra charge. I waited as long as I could before we had to leave. The server had forgotten, and was nowhere to be found. But before I left, I went to the restroom. When I came out, the first server I had was apologetic and gave me the root beer To-Go, and said that there was no charge. I knew already bc I had already paid my tab. That was nice of her, but had I not gone to the restroom, I wouldn't have known. Lol I think the servers share/pool tips bc at least 4 ppl helped get our orders, dropped off orders, and helped distribute our tabs, which we pay on the spot with their portable handheld device. Everything was digital, and you can text your receipt to you, which was so convenient. Overall, I enjoyed the company and the food and drink. The ambiance was a little chaotic, but they conveniently have stations where you can grab your own To-Go containers, condiments like ketchup and mustard (maybe bc we were so close to the server/ food export station), and water stations. I really liked the Root Beer, though tasted a little flat, the flavor is great. The Pretzel was served warm, and was sad about the lack of cheese sauce, Spicy mustard was actually really spicy like wasabi (spice went up my nose), so I had to dip it lightly, and the ranch was just ranch. Cubano was salty, by great with the chips. But FYI, I should have looked at the online photos bc I thought it would look like a real Cuban Sandwich (which in hindsight looked like the Turkey Sandwich that was panini pressed). Hindsight, I wished I had ordered that. The Hummus was tasty with a kick, but I was full by that point. I would recommend bc their drinks look legit, and their hot food isn't bad.

Outdoor patio with plenty of covered and uncovered seating.

Love the offbeat vibe and location of this place. Great service. Live music on Sundays 4-7!! Great Frito Pie.

I came to Canteen for Brain Gang Trivia a couple of weeks ago and have returned twice since then. Good food, great beer, and a pleasant atmosphere make it enjoyable. So far I've tried their porter and the blackberry lime wheat beer, both really tasty. Tonight I'm enjoying A Work of Heart chocolate milk stout - delicious! Canteen also offers going sandwiches. Last time I had the Frenchy (pork loin, Brie, caramelized onions) and tonight is the Pigmac - pulled pork, bbq sauce, Cheddar, and green chile slaw. So good!

Canteen is always a great spot to have a beer and grab a light bite. They are one of the most community involved breweries. The staff is always friendly, they allow pets, have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of shade, plenty of heat warmers and plenty of parking.

On a road trip and stopped by for some refreshment. Great German style beer and great Cuban! Even though it was very hot outside the patio was still breezy and comfortable. Loved the Helles!

First, I have gone to this place off and on for several years. I find it a nice change of pace from the rest of the world. Second, it is a little funky, even for Albuquerque. The owners seem to want to be "Austin like." In a funny sort of way, I think it gets there. It reminds me of the All-Good Cafe in Dallas. Maybe if there was some live music ala All Good, it would seal the deal. Food was good. It was served hot. Everyone got their orders around the same time. Two in the group are vegetarians. The menu had options for them to choose from. I had the Klasic Kosmic Burger with cheese and bacon and a side salad. The salad was big enough to share or have as an entrée. The burger was a little overcooked but good. Lots of bacon!! Next time I will split the order with my wife. My wife had the fish and chips. She could not eat the whole meal and brought some home. The spudnik fries were terrific - hot with a crunchy outside. Two in the group had the afghan rice. They thought the dish was good. Beer and wine is served. Parking is easy and plentiful. The place has patio - I look forward to summer afternoons on the porch. Overall: good choice. Lot of good feedback from the Loungers.

She also seemed very distracted and did not have good recall when we were putting in our orders. She came back several times to ask what our drink orders were before finally bringing over the tablet to enter in the information right in front of us. Secondly, our food took forever to come. This also happened the first time we came to eat at social house a year ago, but it felt more pronounced this time. And the restaurant was not full. Probably a third full of patrons? We were seated at 6:45 and our food did not arrive until 830. Quite the wait if you ask me. Finally, the kitchen was having some sort of smoke issue. If you've never been in an establishment where the grease smell and smoke is visibly accumulating in the air, you know it's quite distracting from a dining experience. It was so smoky inside. I actually caught myself blinking my eyes to see if it was just my vision being blurry or if it was the room. Our food was fine, the pork belly was a standout. Otherwise, I'm not sure I need to come here again. I wish that they would get a better handle on service timing, because that seems to be an ongoing issue.

He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He also took the time to recommend several local restaurants and places to visit, which we really appreciated. We started with the mussels, and they were outstanding--fresh, tender, and served in a rich, spicy butter broth with perfectly toasted crusty bread for dipping. My cedar plank salmon was cooked beautifully, full of flavor, and paired with a delicious chorizo risotto. My husband ordered the filet mignon, and after trying a bite, I can understand why he said it was one of the best steaks he's ever had. The mushroom risotto and seasonal vegetables were the perfect complement, and the fresh salad with homemade dressing was a great start to the meal. To top off the evening, the staff surprised me with a three-flavor sherbet dessert complete with a birthday candle and a thoughtful personalized birthday card. It was such a sweet touch that made me feel truly celebrated. We couldn't leave without trying the German chocolate cake, and it was the perfect ending to an unforgettable dinner. Everything from the food to the service exceeded our expectations. We can't wait to come back and try more of the menu the next time we're in town.

The Good: *This space is really nicely decorated and a chill place to hang. *Service was friendly and fast. *All the beers we sampled were friggin fantastic. Not a dud amongst them, but special big ups to the Super Blueberry Wheat, which was crisp, fruity and refreshing, and my personal favorite the Scotia which packed a nice punch at 8.4%ABV and had a terrific malty sweetness. *Green Chile Falafel Bites were surprisingly good. Also, if she miscalculated staffing, then it should have been her job to get into the bathrooms and keep them presentable. They weren't. Paper everywhere, and the walls need some serious touch ups. It's hard for people to trust the food safety if the job-food public areas aren't kept clean and well-maintained, you know? We'll be back because the food IS awesome and we always have an enjoyable meal. But they definitely need to turn an eye toward building upkeep and service.
