I got the regular Alpine sandwich and it was awesome! My companion got the Farmhouse Salad and it was great! We shared a Flight of their brewed beer plus a glass of the homemade Root Beer which our server, Matt, highly recommended. He was spot on right!!!! Now I'm hooked on the Root Beer. What an amazing place. Tons of outdoor seating fire pits and outdoor heaters. They host fun events (trivia, runs, live music) and such great service. Super kid friendly and they have board games! They also don't assign a server to you. You can order with anyone and pay with anyone which makes it super efficient. As a heads up, they don't have a full kitchen so their menu is a little limited. Canteen Brewhouse is located at the industrial brewery area near I-25. The patio is huge, versatile, and comfortable in nice weather. It is also great for the events they hold, Including music shows and drag bingo. Today, we had the great fortune to participate in drag bingo organized by the Imperial Sovereign Court of NM and it was a ton of fun and joy. Our servers were quite busy with a full house, but were quite on it through out the event. Kudos for the bartender for that awesome placement of the flight by color! My selection included the citranova, pink warrior, autumn rose, no schwarz, and luminaria stout. The cottsnovs was the best in flavor while the pink warrior had a great color, but lacked the fruity flavor I was hoping for. The rest of the beers were ok. For our food, I ordered the New Mexiterrainean and my friend ordered the Brewmeister. Both sandwiches had a good amount of protein but they were just average. First time visit to Canteen Brewhouse. I was invited to come after the 5K race my BIL was in. I arrived as soon as they opened. They were still setting up, but we were allowed to seat wherever, so I chose a round table in the corner, closest to the restrooms. A kind server took my order and explained a few things. She gave the kids paper and crayons to entertain themselves. She suggested the Housemade Root Beer 16oz vs 20oz since you get a Free refill, so I ordered that. I also ordered the German Pretzel with fondue (but they were out), so it came with ranch and spicy mustard, and the Cubano Sandwich. I received my root beer right away, and waited about 10 min for the pretzel. Then, rest of my party joined us. I waited about 30 min before asking about the Cubano Sandwich, in which another server said that they were pretty backed up, showing us the long tickets. We were also next to the food export station. So, I had been eyeing it for awhile. I tried to give them benefit of the doubt, but I can tell that my ticket was misplaced bc as it started getting busier, everyone else was getting their food and drink orders already. Finally, after an hour, I spoke up, and that server said that it could've gotten lost, and that she'll get it out ASAP. Thankfully, another server started to take the rest of the party's orders, so I added a Green Chile Hummus with tortilla chips, thinking that it would arrive sooner. Eventually, after everyone got their food, my Cubano Sandwich and Hummus arrived at separate times. The Sandwich was hot and the cheese was stretchy at least. It got really chaotic as time progressed bc majority of customers were the racers. So, I understand the service was trying their best without a kitchen and just a bar. I got my root beer refill and asked if I could get another To-Go, which was supposed to be an extra charge. I waited as long as I could before we had to leave. The server had forgotten, and was nowhere to be found. But before I left, I went to the restroom. When I came out, the first server I had was apologetic and gave me the root beer To-Go, and said that there was no charge. I knew already bc I had already paid my tab. That was nice of her, but had I not gone to the restroom, I wouldn't have known. Lol I think the servers share/pool tips bc at least 4 ppl helped get our orders, dropped off orders, and helped distribute our tabs, which we pay on the spot with their portable handheld device. Everything was digital, and you can text your receipt to you, which was so convenient. Overall, I enjoyed the company and the food and drink. The ambiance was a little chaotic, but they conveniently have stations where you can grab your own To-Go containers, condiments like ketchup and mustard (maybe bc we were so close to the server/ food export station), and water stations. I really liked the Root Beer, though tasted a little flat, the flavor is great. The Pretzel was served warm, and was sad about the lack of cheese sauce, Spicy mustard was actually really spicy like wasabi (spice went up my nose), so I had to dip it lightly, and the ranch was just ranch. Cubano was salty, by great with the chips. But FYI, I should have looked at the online photos bc I thought it would look like a real Cuban Sandwich (which in hindsight looked like the Turkey Sandwich that was panini pressed). Hindsight, I wished I had ordered that. The Hummus was tasty with a kick, but I was full by that point. I would recommend bc their drinks look legit, and their hot food isn't bad. read more

What an interesting little spot! It's located in a business park setting. Has a fantastic patio, fun live music, good food, good service and an overall laid back vibe. The young woman who took our order was dressed so casually, I didn't realize she was a server. Stopped by Canteen and decided to sit outside because the inside was all smokey. Had some of the best service from the staff, particularly a guy names James. Very knowledgeable about the beers they had on tap, he was responsive with placing our food order and bring us drinks, and he had great jokes. Also, the soup was delicious. read more

I've been coming here for probably three months typically the staff is friendly welcoming and that's why I keep coming back. I stopped by Monday, June 9 around 2 PM because I wanted to try the new cherry wheat beer ...on a positive note. The beer was fantastic. That's why I'm giving this review even three stars. For whatever reason other than bringing me two beers and picking up the glasses after I was done the staff acted like I wasn't even sitting there. Maybe it was because it was a Monday but who knows why this time was so different. I'll probably come back. I can't believe that I've visited Canteen 3 times these last 2 weeks and didn't snap a photo of my food! I ordered their Canteen Chili with black beans and the Baby Kale Salad each time. Yesterday, the entire lot was so packed that street parking was only available and at some point, thanks to another customer, we found a table to share with a gentleman visiting from France. Thanks to Google Translate, we communicated well so I treated him his drinks for his kindness. The staff was very attentive in all of that busyness. Cool even! First off, we love brewery pretzels, haha. Their pretzels are huge. The patio area is nice (we didn't sit outside since it was hot + a long day of hiking we needed the AC). It's nice they have covers to keep you cool from the sun, though. It's a nice spot and a highlight towards the end of our trip. It was a 5-star review then . . . and it is most definitely one now that I have lived here for 5 years. This brew house continues to be at the top of their game. Great beer, great food (love, love their French Onion Grilled Cheese sandwich!), great music. I only have two items that would bring the stars down - if I wasn't already wishing I could give them 9 or 10 stars - 1) location, location (out of the way, but maybe that is a good thing!) and 2) they need to put footers on the chair legs (scraping them across the floor when moved makes my teeth grind against my backbone). Neither one of these 'complaints' remove stars. One can't be fixed, and the other . . . well . . . Did I say I love, love their French Onion Grilled Cheese? Other eats are super good too. Mother's Day! My son joined me for the day and I wanted to run the 5k in the 6 pack series at the Canteen. The sun was out and we were joined by friends and took off on our run. What a perfect way to start Mother's Day. We arrived back and sat in the patio to have a beverage or two along with some good eats. I ordered the Frito pie and my son had some sort of sandwich. Perfect pairings for both a beer for me and a root beer for my son. We enjoyed the patio and caught up with friends. The beer was fine, the food was fine. Great patio. We came here for dinner due to the suggestion of a friend of my parents' while we were in town. And they have done some things to make the patio inviting rather than just 'outside in a warehouse district' kind of thing. Everything during our visit here was...fine. Nothing really sticks in my mind as particularly good or bad. The beer wasn't really my style, but was drinkable for my palate. We all shared the German Pretzel with cheese fondue and mustard. It was tasty. They were out of or unable to make the sandwiches a couple of us were initially interested in (2 different offerings). If I recall, we were interested in the french onion offerings (a Frenchy sandwich and a French Onion swanky grilled cheese) and they couldn't be made on that day. So I settled for a Cuban. Which was fine, but not what I wanted. It was a generous size and half of it easily became leftovers. I don't know if I would come back here without someone else having a burning desire to visit this location. But I also wouldn't fight against it. You'll likely have a good time here, and leave beer-ed and fed if those are things you are ingesting. read more

Yep, my new favorite spot! I was "served" by 3 different people and all were awesome! I think one may have been the owner, but I'm not quite sure. The outside area is super big and I can tell that it's a place to party! It fills up quick, as there was only one other table when I arrived and it was full when I left. The Frenchy Sammy was so good! The server picked it for me (always trust these guys, they know what's up! I challenge everyone to let their server or bartender to pick something for you!). Brie, yum! Went to the Brewhouse for Trivia tonite. Matt Hoffberg was fabulous and totally entertaining as usual. Twenty Teams showed up to play. The sandwiches were great i.e. the grilled cheese with everything, the Cuban and turkey wrap. Always good. The chili was enjoyed as well as the frito pie. Shared a pretzel as well...liked the mustard but not the ranch dressing. Wanted a cheese to dip the pretzel in. Side salad was fresh and enjoyed immensely. Couple of us shared a bottle of the Vara, a tempranillo, and others bought wine by the glass. Really appreciated buying the wine by the bottle. Saves a little bit of money. Service was outstanding as usual. Always appreciate the staffs' attentiveness. The other thing we've come to enjoy is the friends we made by going frequently. This is an oasis! We drove into Albuquerque from the Grand Canyon with two dogs looking for a beer and a menu with green offerings! I had plugged the address into Waze and thought we were lost in a warehouse district when we saw lights and a busy car lot. Canteen Brewhouse has a huge outdoor seating area and firepit. Only one other couple with their pup was outside. The inside was hopping! My husband had the Carolina pulled pork sandwich and said it was one of the better sandwiches he'd ever had, the bun was great and didn't disintegrate. I had the beet and baby kale salad (yeah, something green...not fried)! The beer was great! We had the Good Boy Roscoe and the Exodus IPA. Great wait staff. The Canteen allows you to seat yourself, and there's both indoor and outdoor dining. The food consists of noshes, soups, salads, and sandwiches. They do not have a full kitchen, which is why the food tends toward being more prep-and-serve rather than traditional cooked bar food. I had the Pigmac (presumably a play on the name of McDonald's Big Mac), which had pulled pork, Carolina BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, and Hatch chile slaw. I thought the sandwich was fine, but thought there was going to be BBQ sauce on the sandwich as a condiment as well rather than in just the meat mixture. I couldn't really taste any of the chile in the sandwich, so that wouldn't be a draw for me to get it again. It came with a pickle spear and a bag of Boulder Canyon potato chips. I had the Canteen apple cider (6.0%), a year round offering. It wasn't too sharp or dry. It's the only cider on the menu. I believe the establishment is open serve rather than servers having assigned tables. That wasn't an issue at all; the service was attentive. Overall, a fine place. I think the Canteen would benefit from an expanded/full kitchen and expanded cider menu. I'd likely go back if friends wanted to meet and play cards, as it seems like a chill place, but the food wouldn't be a draw on my end. read more
