The closest brewery to my house and I have never been here before. I saw an ad on Thursday nights that they do comedy night and it was a fun outing. I can tell this place has a following because there were a good 40-50 people there with the snow storm. The comedy was good and so was the beer. I had the seasonal cranberry cider and then had a warm apple cider with Carmel added to it which was the perfect complement to a snowy night. One of my favorite tidbits about the place is that it is owned by a fellow Alumni of New Mexico Tech with homage to the nerdiness of being a techie. I hope we do an alumni event here soon! read more

Seafood food truck day. What a hot mess. While it was busy, there is no clear direction that walk up bar orders have to stand in a certain place other than the bartenders screaming at you to go stand over there if you want to order anything. Because of the food truck, beer was served in plastic solo cups, which were 1/4 foam. There was food truck trash everywhere (which I can understand) and house apes acting like it was recess. We were lured there because of the food truck and decided to check it out for a few beers while waiting for the food. Not impressed. read more

Good beer in a Breaking Bad-themed space. I appreciated having two food trucks onsite since I prefer having food along with my adult beverage. I tried the Event Horizon oatmeal stout, which was very good with chocolate notes. My husband had the Walter Wit, which he enjoyed. Service was a little slow, probably because it was Friday night and the place was really busy. It's kind of noisy too, but we could hear each other talk. My partner thought the beer didn't have enough taste and its far from our home so we may not go back unless there is a specific reason to. But I was happy they were able to accommodate me with a mocktail. A lot of places only offer standard coke products. Love the theme and the interior of the place. I went to Brew Lab 101 because a friend's band was playing there. This place was a pleasant surprise. The facility offers tons of seating (indoor and outdoor). There is a food truck parked out front, but we had just eaten. I didn't take a close look at the food truck. We sat inside to listen to the band. The indoor seating has a great industrial feel. Service was attentive and great. I ordered a lavender beer and squeezed some lime into it. It was delicious and I will definitely order it again. If I lived in the area, I would definitely come here on a regular basis. read more

Ten or so of us met to see the band that was playing. Finding seating was easy. Our servers were very attentive and pleasant and also patient. We all paid separately... There is no food here but they have food trucks on site. The venue is newer and clean and overall nice. It's in a strip mall and there are some picnic tables out front. There will be a back patio soon ... it is still being set up. Beer prices are average - about $7 for 16 oz. They also have 13 oz. One thing ... a server was going around with a tray of jello shots asking if we "wanted one". While it SEEMED as though they were free - they cost $4 each and were added to the bar tabs. That would be fine except honestly, the servers should TELL the patrons the price before passing them out like free candy. That is just not an honest business practice and it will hurt them in the long run. We see deceptive server practices here and there and I am starting to call out the businesses on these things in all fairness to customers. read more

Brew Lab 101 is a pretty typical newer sports bar. Clean industrial design lines, high ceiling, hard surfaces, central bar dividing the space. Seating was comfortable enough during my approx hour long visit. Half dozen TV's set to a few different sports channels. A smattering of customers, including a party (who were definitely partying!!) of a dozen or so folks, with the balance being couples & solos. Sound level loud enough to certainly register, but not the overwhelming jet engine roar decibel level I've occasionally encountered elsewhere. You could have easily held a conversation without strain. Beer choice for me was a pint of their Event Horizon Stout. Plenty of roasty toasty notes in the flavor column, with an unexpected floral note almost like a jasmine hint at the finish as the taste faded from the tongue. Body was on the thinner side for a stout, lacking the rich heavy-smooth mouthfeel offered by more substantial cream stouts. A very drinkable brew nonetheless. Waitress was proficient and professional. And busy enough hustling around to not have excess time for chit-chat. So staff is about 4 star level on my initial visit. Restroom was expansive, clean, fresh smelling, and well stocked. Obviously well maintained. I have to give props to all the places trying their best to stay afloat. Breweries are no different. Here they made a back patio seating area, smart move. Stopped in finally after months, went to the back and was able to order food from one place. Waitress had attitude, when we arrived told her I was a member. She said okay. Got the bill and she did not adjust for membership and when I told her she actually got upset that she had to take it back and take the discount. Really that is not good service. You would think during this time with limited customers you would be okay with your screw up. read more

It's been a while since I've been to the brew Lab due to ambivalent staff. However, my wife and I went last night and it was fantastic! The staff checked on us repeatedly and seemed genuinely concerned about customer service. The 80s music was an added bonus too! My only "needs improvement" is their social media updates. I called Saturday around 11am and they said there would be a wing truck and taco truck. When we arrived, there was only the taco truck, which I didn't really care for. The staff did recommend other restaurants close by though. It was a letdown not having a wing truck there. I don't blame the staff for their absence but they could've posted on social media. Overall, it was an excellent experience. This is just feedback for moving from good to great. read more

I only went here with my son and hubby to support the band a friend of ours. Their name is Villain Inc. They play all kinds of music. It was pretty busy. I ordered a peach cider which was to my surprise really good. In fact I had 2 We ate from a food truck Tacos El Muchacho nachos but it was late and he ran out of food. Still okay. Great space!! The decor is really cool and fun. And they have a huge play area for kiddos that's easy to see from most of the seats. I love the lab theme. Calculations on the walls and tiny beakers for flights. Really nice variety of tasty beers and the servers are very knowledgeable about the varieties. We will be back!! read more

If you are a Breaking Bad fan this place deserves a visit. One of the owners, Scott Salvas, is a Dukes of Ale homebrew club member so the beer is good and true to style. There is a giant chalkboard on the left wall explaining the brewing process of beer. The entire place is dedicated to science and includes plaques on Neils Bohr, Albert Einstein, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson in the bathroom. There are Erlenmeyer flask light fixtures hovering over the bar. We noticed a corner table for children as well. There is no food offered here, but there was a food truck outside when we visited and they have days of the week when Joe's Pasta House will deliver food. If you join their annual membership club, you will get 15% discounts on pours and merchandise. My wife and I sampled the Event Horizon Stout, Wicked Pissa Hazy NEIPA, and the Blue Nebula Blueberry Cider. Event Horizon turned out to be a good example of a stout, not great, but solid. The Hazy NEIPA was very juicy and the Blueberry cider was tart and delicious. We mixed the two together on the waitress's recommendation. It turned out to be a great combination and she didn't charge us for the samples. We paid a total of $12 for 2-13 ounce glasses. The crowd is mostly older: 40-50 years old and the interior is quite science lab. There is outdoor seating as well for the warmer months. We enjoyed very fast service and they had enough televisions to watch sports had there been a game on. The waitress told us there are a bunch of owners and co-owners and silent partners. I would highly recommend this place if you like good beer, service, and Breaking Bad. read more

Waited about 15 minutes before someone asked if they could get me anything. I was waiting for a pizza from the food truck that I was going to eat there. I asked for a couple samples which the server promptly brought to me but then she disappeared and never came back. I approached her at the taps and told her which beer I decided on. After she brought it to me she asked if I wanted to open a tab and I said no thanks I'll just have the one beer and pay for it now. She said ok and NEVER came back to me. I ate my pizza and drank the beer and noticed her passing my table several times but never even looked my way. About 30-40 minutes later another server asked if I was doing ok and I said I'm still waiting to pay for my beer. I said it's been at least 30 minutes. She said, It's busy. I said yeah but it's still a long time. She shook her head without saying anything and I paid her. I didn't feel very welcomed. My go to spot for a beer (or cider) on the west side. They already have a great food truck on site and the beer never disappoints. I am partial to stouts of which there is usually only one, the event horizon stout, but it is so good I got a brew club membership since I but cans of it so often now. My husband and I visited Brew Lab for the first time today and this is my honest opinion: The front of this location was full of sun, there were heat lamps if needed but today they were not. The service was top notch, the young male server was kind and knowledgeable. He gave us samples and directed us to what we might like. Mikes BBQ: it was very good and moist, my husband smokes so I'm partial. They were supposed to arrive at 2 pm but arrives at 3:30 pm on a Saturday/ we had to get out food to go but was impressed with the food!!! Just went to the new location on Candelaria and eubank. I am so excited that they opened one on this side of town. I don't think they are open very long because I can't seem to find it on maps. We came to check out a brewery that used to be there and we were both happily surprised that it is now a brew lab. They did say they were going to have their grand opening soon. So I'm not sure if we showed up on a soft opening. Even then, the drinks are really good and the service was amazing. Even though there were several people I felt like we were served pretty quickly and constantly being attended to without it being overbearing. The inside is just like the one in Rio rancho which is very cute and nerdy all at once giving it a good vibe. I will be here a lot more often since it is a lot closer to my house. We used to make special drives to the one in Rio rancho which is almost a 45 minute drive. So I'm very excited that this is on my side of town. read more

First time here. Visited on a Saturday night, not too crowded. Not sure if the food truck that was there that night is a regular. But their food was true New Mexican style cuisine. They even had a menu from the Pho bar (Vietnamese food) which is about 2 to 3 doors down from the Brew Lab. This lab reminded me a lot of that show that was filmed here in New Mexico, Breaking Bad. Tried a couple of drinks during the visit, Walter Wit and a Cherry Lime Coconut Bomb, which was really sweet. Not recommended. But the beer was pretty good. The ambiance was casual. The staff was very friendly. They offer games to play while you sit and chat with your friends. Going to keep this place in my favorites and will definitely be back. read more

This was our first visit. We were the first ones in at their opening time of 3:00 on a Monday. We sat at the bar and the service started out phenomenal. Ordered the Sassy Brunette (Amber) first. It was a good amber but a little more hoppy than I like. Nothing against the beer, I'm just not a fan of hoppy hoppity tastes. Second round I got the chocolate cherry. It's a 50/50 mix of the stout and the cherry cider. That was more my jam. The stout relaxed the tartness of the cider and the cider cut through the density of the stout. It was good. After a while the beertender would disappear for short spells and we waited for refills once. Which is unheard of while sitting at an otherwise empty bar. However, I'd much rather wait for a refill than be too closely attended to and forced to make small-talk. So I'll keep it at 4 stars for that. They have food trucks come regularly and have menus available for nearby restaurants. They do have snacks but they are ridiculously overpriced ($2 for goldfish or Chex Mix). read more

Let me start by saying when we first arrived it was a really cool vibe. The bartender was super nice and attentive. A little while later, all he'll broke lose. About 20-25 kids of all ages are brought in and left in the chalkboard corner. They were very loud, pushing and shoving each other and throwing chalk around etc. Very minimal adult supervision. People were leaving their indoor seats to go sit outside. People couldn't pay fast enough to get out of there. I'm not sure if that is normal but I am debating on if we want to give it another try or not. I feel very sorry for the girls trying to set up a painting group because you couldn't hear a thing.
