A really cool hole on the wall distillery. Got the New Mexico Krispies which were awesome and plentiful. Also was recommended the first pickles which were equally great. What an excellent find! We ended up at Left Turn Distillery for lunch on Mother's Day--not as a celebration of the holiday, but because we were hungry and thirsty. Left Turn did not disappoint! First of all: love the name. It refers to the many times (in Warner Brothers cartoons) Bugs Bunny said, "I shoulda taken that left turn in Albuquerque." Don't be put off by the signs on the door; we didn't see anyone likely to be packing anything dangerous! There's parking out front, plenty of seating inside at the bar and at separate tables, and clean bathrooms. We ordered cocktails, and also mentioned we're interested in taking some spirits home--so we were served our drinks ordered food, and were offered samples of gin, whiskey, and agave products for consideration. The menu includes plenty of starters, as well as sandwiches and tacos. The food was excellent--one of the best lunches on our trip. The shrimp tacos and a Cubano sandwich were alll generously filled. Fries looked to be fresh-cut potatoes, and the pickles were definitely an in-house creation. I'd give the food six stars if I could! We enjoyed the cocktails and spirits; I've recently been trying more mezcals and was glad to taste what's being produced in NM. The Blue Manhattan--made with blue corn whiskey--was tasty and well-balanced. Also recommended: the Conversionist, made with barrel-aged gin. A complete surprise...had family in for the Holidays and wanted something new to do one afternoon. When my Sister's went to make a reservation for tasting a Groupon coupon came up. Received 50 percent off. Can't go wrong. Brian, the owner gave a great tasting and explanation of the business's history. You get to choose a drink at the end. They distillery vodkas, gins, rum and whiskeys. They also survey food if you are hungry. Worth a visit. We are planning on going some afternoon for just a drink soon. Prices are reasonable. First time we had been to this distillery and we did a tasting and tour. We really enjoyed it! The owner Brian did a good job and the booze was really good. When you get on their website a Groupon comes up when you want to have a tour and a tasting. It was so reasonable and included a cocktail of your choice. First time visiting this place. My boss and the team wanted to hang out and get dinner. I'll be honest I had no clue this place existed until today. I was told when we arrived they have the best burger in town. Let me tell ya I was not let down. Walking in the brewery had a nice vibe. The staff were very friendly and so attentive. They made sure our glasses were always full. The drinks I heard were stellar. Since I do not these days I didn't partake and stuck with my water lol. After reviewing the menu I settled with the tourist burger. A green chili burger with queso. When the staff brought out our food I could already tell it was gonna be good. A+ on the presentation! I took my first bite after letting the burger cool for a minute and I was in heaven. The burger although a little messy was so juicy and delicious it literally needs no condiments. The queso complimented it and I poured it on-top for every savory bite. We also tried the fitters and the fries. The fritters were like a zucchini and corn Mex it was good. The fries were home cooked style and seasoned spectacularly. I have to say after hearing how long the place has been around, I'm sad I didn't come sooner. This place is amazing! Definitely a new favorite. Recommend to us by family and this was such a great little spot. It's got that hole in the wall vibe but has great food great drinks and great service. We got the chicken nuggets with green chile sauce and ranch, the Cubano, and the Shrimp Po Boy. All of which were delicious. We also go cocktails which were very refreshing (I got the Boca Fiesta). We always enjoy coming here. We love the atmosphere of this small bar and their special drink menu. I ordered things completely new to me this time including the margarita flight and the shrimp po' boy. Drinks and food were fantastic. I liked every single margarita in the flight, and the shrimp po' boy came with so much shrimp that they couldn't even fit in the sandwich. What can I say.... This is my second time around in ABQ. I had missed this place, so I walk in and take my usual spot, and suddenly I hear my name being shouted as Miranda and Big B come to envelop me in their arms!!! This warmth means so much to an itinerant like me! It's like coming home. Except it gets even better! Their summer menu is full of refreshing surprises- specially in mixed drinks and cocktails! I have really missed the friendly service (they still know my taste!!) and the down home experience!! Love 'em!!! read more

So first, I will say I have had drinks here many times over the years. The music can be a little loud but it's always pretty solid on the drink front. Service is generally pretty good as well. My friends wanted to go check out the new-to-us patio for lunch over the weekend so off we went. I had looked at the menu ahead of time and there were only two things marked gluten free on the entire menu. However, only the appetizer menu was labeled for gluten and veg items; nothing else on the menu was labeled at all. I was wary since it's pretty sandwich and deep fryer filled, so I ate before I went. That ended up being a good call. When I asked the server what was gluten free, he said the burger without a bun. Fine, but the burgers were $12 and didn't come with a side and that just feels like a lot to pay for a patty and some cheese. Later I asked about the tacos and only a couple were safe - shrimp, calabacitas, and spam (separately) were the safe ones. Brisket is marinated in beer, guessing that's the issue with pork and chicken as well but had given up at that point. I ate a few of my friends' chips from the chips and queso (queso: glutened). Chips and salsa would be okay if you don't mind a shared fryer, but options were extremely limited if you are celiac/allergic. I wish breweries with cider recognized that the cider drinking set often overlaps with the gluten free set. It's such an opportunity to be able to accommodate everyone in the group so they don't end up going to the other brewery known for cider in town, which offers gluten free pizza and sandwiches. I will still go for drinks but it would take some menu revamping for me to try a meal there. My friends' impossible burgers looked awesome, for what it's worth! read more

Okay, so let's turn the "way back" machine dial to about 2015 or so. I came to Left Turn as part of a big Yelp Elite event for the opening of the business. At that time, they were distilling a few alcohols, and making a few drinks. They were the very definition of craft distilling. And really they still are. This time I came in and they have expanded nicely. Not only are they now making more alcohols, but they are also brewing their own beer (which is not the best in ABQ, but is quite respectable). And, they have a kitchen that is turning out very nice food. Beyond that, after talking about how I came in when they first opened, the staff offered to give us a nice tour of their new spaces and capabilities. Super cool! The staff is awesome, and the prices are very competitive. The space is small, but wasn't too crowded when we came. Do yourself a favor, and buy a bottle to take home! read more

This place was incredible! We are passing through for the night and decided to come for dinner. It was awesome. My husband had the shrimp po boy and it was the best one he's ever had. He said he would fly back here just to come eat it again. I had the tourist burger and it was the best burger I've had in a long time. As far as beer goes, the dunkel and the scotch ale were both so good! The service was top notch too. Instantly greeted and brought waters. I can't say enough good things about it honestly. I really want to like Left Turn Distillery but every time I go it's always a toss up. The mixed drinks are really good and they keep me coming back. It's also very close to my house and convenient. The atmosphere is like a normal bar. Kind of divey but I like it. The service is on average "okay". It depends on who is serving that day, but it's always a toss-up. This last time that we went the server was really good. Came and serviced us right away and actually acknowledged that we existed. There's another guy who makes you feel at home and welcome. He is just always so happy to help you. And then sometimes you go and you are completely ignored, don't get help, or they put up all the chairs way before closing. Just makes you feel unwelcome and like you're getting kicked out. I feel like overall I like the place and I'll keep coming back. Nice little find! I asked for a small sample of the gin and vodka so I could decide what to order. Vodka was spot on with very little flavor, which is ideal. The gin was slightly floral and just a touch sweet. As a self proclaimed gin snob, I appreciated the flavor and ordered a dry martini. Superb! My Mom has the wake the F up, also delicious.
