They are only open like once a month. Wish they would be more consistent in such a small town with not a lot of choices

Small diner-type place. I was skeptical at first, but I wasn't paying, so I enjoyed my time. . …read more lol I could not decide on what to get. When you are hungry, everything looks good. I decided to stay with the Mexican food theme. I had a taco, an enchilada, and a chile relleno. Everything was good! I haven't had a good chile relleon in a long time, and this one was good. The sauce was good on the enchilada. Everything was good. I had a tickle in my throat, and the chile was a bit spicy and made me cough, but it was good. I enjoyed the food and the company. If I am in the area again I will come back.

The restrooms were retro, very 90s, run down but clean, and if I was running from the Sinaloa Cartel...I could picture myself hiding in a place like this. Almost like a mix between the films Memento and Breaking Bad. But yes, Lisa's Grill. I had to stop in at this Southwestern Flare Diner! It's situated inside the truck stop, with a very 70s & 80s atomic age diners vibe like that one scene in the Kingsmen movie. Loved the ceiling, bold colored red, glossy, with silver...makes Johnny Rockets look artificial. So I had to try their top picks on the menu. The Red Rooster -- country fried steak with red hot sauce, and their hatch chilli burgers. The food was ok, Id probably rate a 3.5/5. Menu is heavily influenced by Spanish cuisine. If your looking for a quick breakfast along route 66 in Central New Mexico, this is a good spot to take a break. Overall service, environment food I'd give it a 4/5. Seems pretty popular amongst the locals, and place is pretty packed for a lunch run. Yea, definitely come check it out!

Nothing better than going for comfort food for the southwestern at a local taqueria. So we ventured…read moreand we found El Muchacho Alegre. It was quite hidden but what a find! The menu was simple with well-know classics like tacos, tortas, quesadillas, nachos, papa asada, and burritos with your choice of carne asada, chicken, carnitas, barbacoa, and al pastor meat. We chose the vampiros with carnitas and al pastor (with a prior taste of carne asada). We also got some chips and salsa. In addition, they have a nice selection of Mexican sodas including Jarritos and Mexican Fanta and Coke. The vampiros are 3 tostadas (toasted corn tortillas) with the meat on top. These vampiros were very strong and crunchy, without crumbling into pieces under pressure. The amount of meat on each vampiro was respectable. The salsas were tasty and spicy enough. If you ask for salsa macha, you will get a whole few levels of spicy kick. Last, we got a good bunch of chips with a smoky salsa to accompany them. At the end, the friendly employees let us know they are opening a second location in the south valley, and with these flavors and quality, I bet they will be quite successful!

I saw the Taco Fiend reviewed it, and I was embarrassed a guy from out-of-state got there first. I have had two versions of taco. The carnitas and the carne adovada were very good. The meats are well-seasoned and have a lot of flavor. They come with two salsas, a red and a green. The red has a slight smoky flavor and is mild. The green is a bit spicier (but not hot) and a little citrus. The red was better with the carne and the green was very good with the carnitas. One thing: they put cucumbers on the tacos. And they put a lot. They are fine, they add a little crunch, but to be honest, the tacos don't need them. The meat is good, but not really amazing. The cucumbers sort of overpower the meat and I ended up eating them separately. You get four tacos for $14, so you decide if it is pricey. The young lady at the counter was super sweet.
