I love coming to Tacos La Mordida for the fantastic tacos Al pastor but every time I have come, I've noticed the Al pastor roasting and the delicious smell. So naturally I had to come check out the Al pastor and I'm happy to report it was delicious. Al pastor is probably my favorite taco option but also the option I'm most opinionated about. The spices and the pineapple have to marry just right for it to hit the spot and they definitely know what they're doing here. We ordered a full order of the al pastor tacos and the barbacoa tacos (each came with 4), and then also a birria (gringa). We got lucky and beat the line, and our food was ready within 10 minutes. From the start, everything smelled HEAVENLY. We booked it home to eat everything quickly, and it was well worth the drive and shocking price. The tacos were totally full of meat, and both flavors were absolutely amazing. I am updating and downgrading my review. Our last visit was not up to par at all and I am hoping it was just a bad day. When I say they have hands down the best Tacos I've ever had, and then go there and they weren't even good enough to finish, I have to adjust. The meat was completely unflavorful, there was too much cinnamon in the birria, the pastor tacos did not have any pineaplle in them, and the cheese with the birria tacos was skimped like no other. I will be back and re-review. Hopefully this was a fluke visit. But for the prices they charge I'd expect a great experience every time, and if last time would have been my first visit it would have been a 1 or 2 star review and I definitely would not have returned. read more

You are MISSING out. Birria is basically a slow-cooked beef meat that is seasoned in an array of condiments that create a delicious concoction. For the past few months, I've been looking for a good birria spot but there are very few places that have birria in ABQ. Well, Tacos La Mordida has rolled through with their delicious birria tacos! The tortilla is crunchy as should be and the meat is delicious and well seasoned! The tacos also come with melted cheese (quesatacos) and let me tell you, they are definitely generous on their cheese. So if you're like me and have an Unhealthy love for cheese, this is your spot! They also have other menu options like vegan tacos (I'll never try those cause I love meat, so I can't speak on them), tacos al pastor and tacos de asada. Their al pastor tacos are also very delicious and the meat has a nice flavor to it too. If you come, be prepared to wait in line because it gets a bit long sometimes. Mouthwatering from start to finish! The flavor was immaculate. The cheese was thick like mozzarella, the meat / tacos were savory, juicy, and delicious dipped in the broth. The customer service was very nice and welcoming. You go up to the window of the truck & order , and they give you a buzzer that vibrates when your food is ready. We saw the pictures, we read the reviews, we watched the videos of people indulging in these gooey, drip-droppy delectable tacos on Facebook--we knew our next step was to make the adventure to find them. My family and I went one evening before the line grew to around the corner to try these well-spoken about birra tacos. I must say, the price knocked us back. While these aren't your average tacos, you should definitely anticipate spending triple/quadruple on tacos than your average El Paisa tacos. We got an order of Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Birria, and two Birria combos (the ones that come with the saucy beef soup). The Al Pastor and Carne Asada had really nice cuts of meat with hearty portions, the Birra did as well. Each came with two salsas--although neither were as as hot as I was anticipating and were really only okay in flavor profile. All of the meat could have definitely benefited from some standard seasonings! I will also add that my naivety got the best of me and what I thought were pickled carrots and radishes were actually slivered habaneros. **Dumbest mistake I've ever made with food!** While this is the only place I know around here making the epic Birria combo, it's also the only taco truck I know charging the high prices they do. So while I can't make this venture a daily affair, it's nice to splurge on new eats once in awhile. I would definitely recommend this place to those looking for a new experience on tacos here in Albuquerque. My house was craving Birria tacos something fierce and we had just missed closing time at our usual local place, dang! So...SOME people in my family aren't very good at practicing patience, and after a bit of back and forth, I decided to trek WAY out to the east side from Rio Rancho to check out Tacos la Mordida... Wow! From the time I walked up to order, I knew it was going to be good...once I got a feel for my surroundings, I realized the parking area around the food truck looks like Good Friday at Walmart. Lots of people means good food! The person who took my order explained everything and was super helpful and friendly. Birria tacos with consommé, A+! Asada Gringa, A+! So many delicious flavors and the tacos still had crispiness after our trip home! The green and red sauces that come with everything is crazy good! Price for everything I ordered was so reasonable, and he mentioned that the consommé is like a meal in itself, and no doubt it is. So much meat, you could eat it alone and be full. Overpriced but generally tasty. They park in the NE heights area...which is why they can get away with the high prices. Long lines that take a while to move...you will understand if you read the review further. Overall most of the food was very tasty and staff was friendly and got the order ready quickly. Here is what we tried: 1) Combo de Birria de res (3 tacos (birria meat +cheese) and one cup of the barrio (meat stew) for $20)- tasty, oily but delicious. Recommend getting with cilantro and onions, add some lime. Green salsa was spicy but delicious. You get your choice of red or green. *FYI- All the tacos orders are 4 tacos (still not sure on how much this costs). Just the cup of birria is $15, which I think is again, overpriced. Too much food. 2) Gringa de al pastor AND a gringa de carne asada (BIG flour tortilla quesadillas with meat + cheese)- decent 3) Torta de barbacoa-bread is ok, meat is good, cilantro + spicy mayo, served it in the to go container open faced-don't recommend and there are plenty of other places (including chains) that offer better tortas. Total cost= $59 which is a lot for a taco truck, this could feed about 3-4 people. The menu is displayed everywhere on the truck but nothing is explained and there are no prices (which I understand why because if I knew how $$$ they were I would have tried a different Birria taco truck first). The staff was nice and explained what came with each order/that we overordered, which is why it took so long to order (I had to re-think my order) I prefer the "by the taco" pricing. Enough for 2 meals! We finally got to try the ever-popular birria tacos and the soup/stew/dipping sauce after several failed attempts--they had sold out before we got there previously. I wasn't exactly sure how to order, as the menu is rather vague (no descriptions or prices), but the lady who was taking orders was so nice. She explained what everything was and prices per item. We settled on two combos--al pastor (pork) and birria (beef), both with the consommé; one with red and the other with green chile. I personally liked the red better. The tacos didn't disappoint, even though they were very greasy. Luckily, we were given several napkins. We could've shared a single combo order, which consisted of 4 tacos and a pint-sized container of the consommé. Had seen this business pop up on IG and decided to give it a try.... ohhh my DIOS!!! I'M sooooo glad we did, their food is worth the line in 100+degree heat with a mask on (well you know COVID). They operate 5-8pm or until they're food sells out which typically happens whenever they're open (there was a line even thoughwe arrived right at 5p). We ordered the small Birria combo which includes: 3 tacos and a cup full of fingerlicking good broth with meat and chile in it for dipping & enjoying afterwards. Wow!!! I was seriously blown away by the taste... soooo delicious, well worth the 32dlls for the combo. We ordered way too much food because well we were hungry and wanted to try EVERYTHING on the menu hahaha we also had 2 tacos de asada (meat was so tender) and a gringa with barbacoa meat. We will DEF be back... our favorite was definitely the Birria combo. The only thing I wish was that they had their prices listed and a description of what the plate includes. Very good tacos. The closest to the birria tacos I've been seeing online in Los Angeles. I was very impressed. The only negative thing is I would probably only go occasionally unfortunately. I understand they need to make a living during this unfortunate pandemic and I feel they have a very good business with very good food. However I feel it's a bit overpriced. I was going to get a certain amount of tacos and they informed me of a "deal" for three tacos and a 16oz Vaso for $20. Again, the food was amazing and I will go back, but I can go to my favorite Mexican spot in Albuquerque and get double the order for less than $20 with probably triple the quantity of meat (if not more) as well as an order of birria.
