Craving Tacos on Tuesday and landed at Tako Ten. While ordering on the kiosk noticed they had an amazing Taco Tuesday deal of any 3 tacos & fountain drink for $9.95 so that's what me and the hubs ordered - 2 taco Tuesday specials and a Oaxaca Queso & Chips. Let me start by saying that this Oaxaca Queso was one of the BEST chile con queso dips I have ever had. It's incredibly tasty and packed full of flavors with delicious fresh ingredients that you can taste with every bite. Just for the queso alone I would come back but let me get to the tacos too. So I had a Brisket, Carnitas and Asada Tacos and I have to say that they were ALL absolutely delicious and flavorful. I didn't particularly enjoy the corn tortilla and they double the tortilla on every taco if you like that. I just wished that they used a tortilla that had a better taste or at least hit it with some light oil on the plank but this can also be that I am Mexican and I'm use to eating my tacos on homemade corn tortillas so I'm picky there. Regardless these Tacos are some of the best I have had in town for sure. My hubby had the Brisket, Battered Fish & Battered Avocado and Absolutely Raved about all of them! He wanted to make sure that I was happy because he knows that if I am not happy at a restaurant- we will never ever come back and he loved his food so much he wanted to make sure we would come back. I eased his mind and told him we would definitely be back because like I said above - the Oaxaca Queso Dip was enough to hook me and then I sampled all 6 different tacos and loved them all. They also have a salsa bar with 7 different salsas for every different palette and different meat and also limes to complement your tacos. I like the variety of the salsas because depending on the meat some go better than others. Ordering on the kiosks was fun, easy and allowed you to see everything they actually offer. Unbelievable. My husband ordered a 10 for $10 taco order and a Frito pie that was full of nachos, if that's the case, then they should've just called it nachos instead of a Frito pie. When the order was ready to pick up it was over $114 dollars! They completely screwed our order up on so many levels.. so disappointing. Tako Ten presents traditional and non-traditional tacos, so I won't compare it to authentic places I've tried. I thought the cartoon portraits, decorations, and theme were so fun. This place wasn't too busy on a Sunday, it's located right on the outskirts of the city. Plenty of parking and seating available. The sauce bar had a nice variety of sauces and limes available. The Lover / Al Pastor Tako - (3.5/5) - Good, but not as memorable even with the pineapple topping. The Fighter / Tender Brisket Tako - (5/5) So tender, my favorite of all the takos I tried! The brisket pulled apart and had a nice mix of lean/fatty meat. The Fisherman / Battered Fish Tako - (3/5) The fish was pretty tender, solid fish tako. Sweet Potato Fries - (5/5) The non-bee honey was surprisingly delicious. These fries + honey + the sauce bar were a deadly combination. This place is clean- folks who work here are fast, friendly and efficient. I love that they are right next door to Boxing Bear. The tacos are simple and perfectly made -corn tortilla, meat, onion and cilantro. Guac and salsas to add. That is all you need. I crave their queso. My tongue was burning from the excessive saltiness of this one taco alone, that I took a break and moved on to the fish and shrimp tacos. Then went to eat the last bite and confirmed that same impression once again. My partner was very upset with his brisket taco, says that the guac in his taco was gross and also very very salty with dry meat. Taco was not finished and thrown away. My daughter loves this place, and if this were her review, they'd have 5 stars and she would've gotten around to writing this review at least a year ago. They have some great things going here. The names of the tacos are fun, the artwork that matches it on the wall and the sugar skull disney characters give the place a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly (though often seems a little stressed), and food turnaround is quick. The restaurant has a killer view of the Mountains out the front window, and limited outdoor seating. They also have a fairly extensive salsa bar, which has flavors ranging from classic to fruit-based. But the tacos themselves just don't wow me like I want them to. They're good. Always solid and reliable. But I don't crave or dream about them. The fried chicken one is my favorite if I have to pick. THE BURGERS, HOWEVER... Look, I know it's a taco place. I get it. But the smash burgers are some of the best in town, and they're the reason I keep coming back and why I'll always say yes to my daughter's request for tacos. The layers of perfectly crispy patties and melted cheese. The caramelized onion and green chile. That's the crave-worthy thing on the menu. Great taco options, but unfortunately pretty mediocre in taste. Our food took a really long time to come out, and the corn tortillas were cold and oily, which was not a great texture. The asada taco probably ended up being the best, but the fish taco was not good. The batter was really greasy, and the fish didn't taste particularly fresh so I ended up only taking a few bites of that. The chips and queso aren't bad, but our chips tasted a little stale. Let's start with the guacamole. Do you know where you are? Within a couple of hours drive you could be in Mexico and getting real avocados to make this guac. Instead....this was the crap that was probably frozen, mass market flavorless junk. Why do you bother serving this stuff? We ordered 8 different tacos. There was not a one that was worth getting again. We tried fish, pork, beef, and the 2 veggie ones (do not waste your time on the "sweet potato" one which is just cheap fries with some sauce). Thankfully there was one salsa (I would tell you which one, but the font was small and pale on pale, no idea what that poster said), it was red, and it was good. The rest? Blahzville. I was pretty close to the tramway location and every once in a while, I end up here for a bite. I love that the location is right next to a few other businesses so you can grab food and go enjoy a beer on the boxing bear patio or grab your bite and then hop over next-door for dessert at Paleta Bar. They have so many different menu offerings, and they definitely get creative, including with things like birria mac & cheese. I was craving some tacos so we came over and I ended up getting three different. An Al pastor, a fried chicken taco, and a shrimp taco is what I got. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of the way they do al pastor but the other options were really good especially the fried chicken. Another thing I love about this spot is that they have a ton of different salsas to choose from. You really can't go wrong and you gotta try them all. I personally love the Frida nachos for doing just this. Be sure to keep an eye out for their specials as they do daily offerings. I have been here many times and loved the tacos but this time I ordered the grilled chicken salad and was disappointed. The chicken was way too salty and adding on the salty cheese and salty vinaigrette dressing made it nearly inedible. Too bad - I'll go back to tacos next time. I've been to Tako Ten before, but it's been a while. So the other day, Tuesday, I happened to be in that part of town, so I stopped in for Taco Tuesday. I was impressed with the fact that they give you three options for your food. Here, to-go, or boxing bear. You can take the food to the brewery that is next door. That's so cool! I got the Battered Fish Tako, "gluten-free battered fish topped with Baja slaw and cilantro Crema," a Vegan Sweet Potato Tako "Topped with chipotle hummus, guacamole, and Jerusalem salad," and a Battered Avocado Tako, "vegan battered avocado topped with Baja slaw and Baja Crema." For dessert, I got Churro Fries, "Strings of funnel cake tossed in cinnamon/sugar and topped with Dulce De Leche and Raspberry sauce." Everything had vast amounts of flavor; the avocado tako was crispy and creamy, the sweet potato tako was spicy/sweet, and the fish tako was crunchy with a bit of spice and loads of flavor. The churro fries were sweet and crunchy; they reminded me of state fair food. So delicious! I did not try any slasa at the salsa bar; I didn't think they needed it. I was disappointed in my recent visit to Tako Ten. We got there at 8pm, an hour before they closed.    I ordered a Carnitas Taco and no problem there.   I liked it as usual.   I also ordered chips and salsa. I thought the they'd be served warm but they weren't.   Maybe that's normal or maybe they were just in a hurry to close?  Either way,  I regret not finding out. What wasn't normal about our visit is that they only had two salsas out at the salsa bar.   When we finished eating, we refilled our drinks. It was still 30 min before closing when we actually left but, we felt very rushed because they had been stacking the chairs and spraying down and wiping all the tables in the area for some time already.  What I found most irksome was that I wanted to top off my salsa cup to eat with my leftover chips which I planned to heat and enjoy the next day.   I saw that all the salsas were gone.  As I walked out,  I wanted to confirm with an employee about their closing time. Maybe I misread the sign?  She said 9.  So I said, but all your salsas have already been put away.   She then told me they start ''pre-closing'' at 8.  They could have at least asked if we wanted more salsa before taking them away. I think she said something about having some pre-packed to go but by that time it just wasn't worth the trouble.  I don't think the closing protocol there is a welcoming way to run a business. I understand that employees want to get out of work ASAP, and perhaps the owners don't want to pay an extra hour after closing for cleanup.   It's really a shame because, even though I thought the taco was good, the whole experience of having a meal there that night was unrelaxing and left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

My husband and I stopped in Albuquerque for lunch on a Tuesday a few weeks ago during a cross-country road trip. We found our way to Tako Ten and couldn't think of a better place we could have stopped by on Taco Tuesday. Everything from the service, to the food, to the overall environment was fantastic. It was one of our most memorable stops in Albuquerque. As noted, we came in on a Tuesday, so we were able to participate in their Tako Tuesday deal of three tacos and a drink. We both opted for the special and ended up trying the Al Pastor, Carne Asada, and Garlic Shrimp tacos between both of our orders. The food was fresh and so delicious. Each taco had the perfect amount of protein and accompanying fixings. The salsa bar offered many different tastes to further elevate the amazing flavors that already were present on the tacos. Though everything we tasted was delicious, the Garlic Shrimp tacos were my favorite. The sauce was phenomenal and a great complement to the taco overall. If my appetite was larger, I could have gone for another three tacos that were all Garlic Shrimp. The staff during our visit were very friendly, welcoming, and super patient as we asked questions and figured out our order as first timers. The kitchen did a great job of pumping out quality orders in a timely manner as they did have a lot of costumers coming in and out during our visit. The space overall was very clean. As huge Disney fans, we LOVED the subtle artwork displayed on the wall. Tako Ten would definitely be a revisit for us if we ever find our way back to Albuquerque. I remember this place used to be my go to for great tacos. It's been a minute since my last vid because I've been busy traveling and taking care of business. It goes without saying being the first day I've been able to settle I was excited to come get my taco on. I'm sad to say it was not the pleasant experience I had come to know. Walking in today there was no line, yet I wasn't even acknowledged at the register for about 2 minutes until someone finally told me they would be right with me. I understand in peak times they can't always get to you right away but the place wasn't that busy. Even more so to add to the the disappointment the tacos were beyond unacceptable. Usually the tacos are fairly fresh between a soft tortilla. The tacos I got had tortillas that were hard and stale. The meat was no different. The carne asada and brisket were both very dry and tough like it also had been out for awhile. I have never been more disappointed until today. Sadly it seems this isn't the only casualty covid has taken over the pandemic. It's becoming very discouraging to eat out when both the service and food quality have degraded. I am sorry to say this will probably be my last visit. I really hate to leave the negative review but I felt like it needed to be brought up in hopes to see this place return to its old glory. read more

I'm just going to come out and say it- I've been living under a freaking rock. I couldn't shut up about Dia De Los Takos for the longest time and how I missed their killer tacos. I had no freaking idea until we decided to check out the menu here that the amazing Chef Dominic moved to the awesome little shops (Bridges) at Tramway and Candelaria right next to Boxing Bear. Seriously, I'm a moron. I had seen the food truck, I had seen the place when grabbing beers with friends but never put two and two together until this week and I dragged my friends there because DUH YOU HAVE TO HAVE THESE TAKOS AND I WON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. I also had to redeem myself from choosing somewhere else a while back that they weren't too thrilled about so thanks for the assist, Tako Ten! The space is markedly different than the old days of the go cart arena and I'm soooo digging it. It has a super fun and colorful Mexican folk/Dia De Los Muertos theme that is evident throughout the menu and descriptions. I freaking love it. The tacos are still the bomb diggity- I had the brisket, fish, and carnitas and they all rocked. My friends had the shrimp, carne, and some others. They were all amazing but they couldn't shut up about the shrimp one and how awesome it was. I have to apologize for not getting pictures...we just dug in too fast and half eaten, messy, sauced up tacos just aren't as cute. I loved the different salsas/hot sauces and they named it "Frida's Palette" which I thought was so freaking cute and clever. We saw some folks with the nachos which looked incredible but they also had ramen which was tempting even though it was freaking hot outside- I'm sure the suffering would be worth it but tacos had to happen instead. I'll probably be back soon enough to try it. haha I'm stoked that this little bad ass taco place is not only easier to get to but also you can chill and have some great beer at the same time. Ordered three tacos unfortunately they didn't have the special combo discounts. Got the Al Pastor, Carne Asada and Carnitas. Al pastor being the most greasy but good flavor, carne asada was great flavor and the carnitas with least flavor. The price of the tacos is also high around $4 each and the tortillas don't even taste homemade. For this price I expected something more premium or lots of meat. The green chile cheese burger and chile fries were good but we did not care for the churro fries. The churro fries were not as crispy as we had hoped and too much sugar for me. The boyfriend and I went for the churros and were beyond pleasantly surprised. My boyfriend had never had churros in this fashion. To have them with the Mexican sauce (the name alludes me right now) as a topper. OUTSTANDING!! They were warm, not-too-sweet, exciting little twists on an old fashion churro. Bringing the sweets of my culture from a 7 to a perfect 10. The service was great! We were met with smiles. The woman at the counter was willing to go over everything with us. Attentive and educated in the menu. The COVID restrictions were plainly posted and FOLLOWED. Everyone was in masks and gloves. Seating was limited. Posts on the ground to enforce the 6ft distance. Plus there is a little seating outside. I felt safe. I cannot wait to come back here with a hunger. They had a menu that was vegetarian-friendly. This is always exciting. First and last time we will ever go here. Hands down the worst tacos al pastor I have ever had. Super greasy, grease pooled in the bottom of the cardboard serving container. The meat, which may or may not have been pork had a strange flavor and consistency. After living in the southwest all my life (60 years) I should have known better than to eat tacos at a chain. read more
