They say beauty can come from suffering. Lira Beirut celebrates this through its food, decor and service. The whole vibe of the place seems extracted from a cool corner of Beirut with beautiful retro-cool artwork that is colorful, happy and sophisticated. From graphic prints, to black and white photos and architectural studies, it gives you a sense of a culture that takes the best of the middle east and cosmopolitan worlds. That sets the stage for the food served here. This is not a watered-down shawarma spot to pacify over-served revelers. It's a place to meet real foodie friends who appreciate authenticity and carefully prepared dishes in an elevated way. I haven't had a chance to go to the Middle East, but I can tell from the deft use of spices, heat and technique that their intention is to share the best from their food memory of the old country. I've gone on a few occasion and really enjoyed the fattoush salad, the labneh mtwame, the muhammara, the chicken shawarma plate and the kafta. Many of the dishes come with the crispiest, most addictive fries I've had, gorgeous savory rice and a heap of fresh, fragrant herbs. Even the wine list is pretty nice, and I've had the well priced Sauvignon Blanc and the Pouilly Fuisse. I wished the location were better for us and for them. It could use a more visible location where nice traffic goes by it. Since it's at the edge of Wynwood where it borders with the slowly gentrifying Overtown, it could take a while before its riches are recognized. I can't wait to go back for happy hour again, and I long to see the day when this becomes an awesome neighborhood hangout as they build more apartment buildings in the area that can house people who will appreciate all that Lira Beirut offers. read more

Street parking in wynnwood which can be a busy place, it's not in the main part so parking was accessible tonight. Sat in their nice outdoor courtyard that's laid back and not too packed. It's enclosed so feels safe. The mezzes were amazing. My favorites being the fattousch salad and muhammara. The hummus, falafel, and roasted potatoes were very tasty too. I tried some of the chicken kebobs which were ok. I'd maybe try the shawarma next time or honestly just stick with the mezzes, which were my favorites of the whole dinner. Service was friendly. Had an incredible lunch at Lira today! The food, the hospitality, the entire experience... PERFECTION. We started with the mint lemonade, which was absolutely divine- bright, refreshing, and the perfect start. Then we chose a bunch of apps: The FATTOUSH was honestly the best I've ever had anywhere (aside from my boyfriend's homemade salad) . The LIRA LABNEH was another standout: mixed with Lebanese olives, walnuts, garlic, and parsley. Creamy, tangy, and super addictive! We also had the WARAK ENAB (stuffed grape leaves), the MUHAMMARA, and the GRILLED HALLOUMI & WATERMELON, and BATATA HARRA (similar to the Spanish "Patatas Bravas") and they were ALL spectacular and full of flavor. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, they brought out a beautiful platter of CHICKEN SHAWARMA and CHICKEN TAWOUK, both outstanding. Even the FRIES were amazing! Finished with the trio of VEGAN GELATO (date, pistachio, and dark chocolate) and every flavor was perfect. Ahmed's hospitality was truly next level. This is Arab hospitality at its finest: genuine, generous, and unforgettable. He's warm, gracious, full of amazing stories, and sets such a beautiful tone for the restaurant. Our waitress Candela was lovely, too: attentive, friendly, and so sweet. Honestly, everyone we interacted with there was great. LIRA Beirut is like home away from home for me. From the art on the wall to the music playing decor, Flowers and Service you truly feel like you aren't in Lebanon. I've been here a few times and at each time I love it more and more most recently I tried their fattush, their fatteh, and of course some of their samplers like the hummus, Muhammara, kibbe and the chicken shawarma and it was all very authentic and delish. You cannot go wrong here honestly. Oh, and my favorite part is they have nostalgic lemonade with mint IYKYK and their Lebanese wine which makes me so happy to find in a place like this. The food and service was great. I think the portions are a bit small for the price but overall very delicious food. I think the middle eastern decor and music added the perfect touch to the experience. My favorite was the decorative pillows with Arabic writing on them along with some old school music I recognized. Business dinner while in town - sat on the cute patio. Our server, she was amazing, we were very new to the cuisine so she explained everything very well, even the wines. Only complaint was the timing of some of the dishes...we had to remind them of certain things ordered, etc.....but everything we ordered was yummy and great. This was my first time having Lebanese food! The service was great! They did have someone who didn't speak English that came to our table a few times (Spanish only) so it was difficult communicating with him. The waitress explained many of the dishes to us so we could make our selection. She was kind and attentive to us. I had beef dishes that were excellent. we came here for dinner and had a wonderful time! alicia helped us out and she was super friendly, attentive, and helpful. she gave us great recommendations on drinks, appetizers, and food and did not steer us wrong. there's also a sweet surprise for first timers--ask about it the first time you come here, and you definitely should come here because it's delicious! don't miss the dip trio, especially during happy hour. absolutely insanely tasty, and the beef shawarma entree was spiced perfectly. the restaurant has a cute garden outside and the inside is cozy and inviting. we recommend sitting on the benches if possible, the pillows and cushions are super comfy. if you can, ask for alicia! she was fantastic and if we lived closer then we would definitely be back regularly for all of our special occasions. read more

Very tasty beautifully presented Lebanese food! Went with a few friends and got the family sharing menu (not sure if it's still available), which has sharing portions of a bunch of their dips, appetizers/small plates, and a tray of grilled meats. Once we started they just kept bringing out plates one by one. The dips were excellent, the beet hummus was creamy and light pairing perfectly with the pita, the eggplant dip was a bit smoky and savory, and the original hummus was delicious. The warak enab (stuffed grape leaves) were a bit more acidic than I expected but still very well put together. The batata harra were crispy outside and a bit fluffy inside, smashed to maximize the crisp and with a sweet savory slightly spicy sauce that really elevated it although a bit salty. One of my favorites was the fried halloumi, little bites of fried salty cheesy halloumi goodness complemented perfectly by a sweet honey balsamic sauce. By the time the meat came out we were already pretty full, but persevered. The chicken, beef, and kofta (ground meat) kebabs were all well seasoned with a nice char pairing well with the rice and onion salad, although the portion of meat between the four of us could have been a bit more generous. All in all, the food at Lira is fresh, tasty, and well presented topped off with good service and a small but inviting atmosphere. The price point for the amount of food and meat wasn't super impressive, but otherwise the food was great and I would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes! read more

I'd recommend sitting outside. I went on a Tuesday and I think they weren't expecting a huge office party so I will say the service was extremely slow. But the food was wonderful! The most authentic Lebanese cuisine i had. The food, the decor, the atmosphere, it was absolutely beautiful. Lira is the currency in Lebanon so when i saw this place, i knew i had to test it's authenticity. There is indoor and outdoor seating options. Inside, the walls are filled with cultural Lebanese photos and frames and decorations. Outside, the seating has pillows and benches that resemble the old cultural Lebanese theme. The music was lebanese but the ancient soft kind that makes you feel like you're in Lebanon. I loved it. The staff was very friendly and super knowledgable about the menu. They helped us with our order and were very patient considering they had plenty of delicious options to choose from. Everything we ordered tasted homemade and delicious, and it was very authentic that some i've never had before! I learned a lot about Lebanon and the dishes during my dinner. One of my favorites in Miami. The appetizers here are out of this world. The eggplant dish with fried pita chips and lamb is incredible. We came here with a reservation on a day it was pouring rain. The restaurant was great and called us in advance to confirm our attendance. They worked hard to accommodate not-ideal conditions. We ordered a trio of dips and the fatoush salad. All excellent. We also order the kofta, which was a bit disappointing at $36. The portion was okay, but it felt over-priced and under-executed. The highlight of our meal was the dessert, though. An icecream trio of pistachio, date and chocolate. I would go back for the date icecream alone, it was that good. Came here with friends for the Miami spice which was one of the best Miami spices based on price, food quality, and quantity. We got all of the appetizers on the menu and it's hard to choose the best. All of the hummus were so creamy and tasty and the fattoush salad was very fresh. The pita it came with was also hot out of the oven! The grilled octopus was great- tender and flavorful. To end we had baklava which you can't go wrong with. The only reason for the 4 stars was the extremely slow service and they messed up my dessert order but did fix it right away. Also we didn't get served any water until after the appetizers and only because we asked. There seemed to be a big party though so they may have been overwhelmed. Came on a Saturday night, the atmosphere is wonderful, we sat outside on the patio that had ample tables. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, and was able to really guide us in making choices for dishes. The style is very much shared plates, by husband and I shared about 4 total (which was plenty). The fried halloumi and and labneh were the star of the show, but there wasn't a bad dish that we ordered. This is my second time at Lira and I enjoyed it more than the first! I am on a mission to find the best Middle Eastern food in south Florida and lira right now is in my top 2. Their outdoor area is spacious and Mediterranean in feeling. The Lebanese dishes that are here seemed authentic to Beirut. We loved the personal hospitality of their team and homestyle cooking. I visited LIRA for lunch yesterday and completely understand why they have 5 stars on Yelp. I'd initially made a reservation for 1:30 PM and tried calling the restaurant several times to let them know we were running late, but the number I had for them wasn't working. Not only were we running late, but we also had trouble finding the restaurant, so we walked in about half an hour after our original reservation time. I was mortified, but the hostess did not give us a hard time at all and sat us at a table the minute we walked in. My friend and I were both starving, so we essentially ordered every last thing our server recommended. We ordered Fattush, Hummus Beiruti, Muhammara, Kebbeh Labanieh, Fatayer. Every last bite was absolutely delicious. I especially enjoyed the kebbeh, the muhammara, and loved the spicy kick of the hummus. I want to go back to try the branzino, the kafta and the octopus! Our server was helpful, the food came out quickly and everything was fresh. I loved the food so much I asked if they're on Uber Eats and was happy to learn they are. This place is MIND BLOWINGLY good! It's hidden in a little corner of Wynwood. We went through a little door covered in greenery that led to a patio which then led to a door to the restaurant. If it wasn't for my GPS, I would have missed it. Vibes were immaculate! Soo nice. Lots of people were having date night or girls night out. The bar is gorgeous and the manager is a kind gentlemen who genuinely cares for his customers. I took my mom for dinner and we had a fantastic time. We started off with the fatoush salad, I 10/10 recommend this. It was SO good. And then we tried this red roasted pepper dip with pita and it was mindblowingly amazing. I had never tasted a dip like that before. We also tried the chicken and then also the kefta platter. I would say the chicken was better than the Kefta kabab. The chicken was juicy, tender, and very well flavored. This place is a little higher in price than other Mediterranean restaurants, but in my opinion it is worth every penny.
