We ate here with friends the other day. Items consumed were the brussels sprouts, baklava, hummus / pita, falafel and a brisket pita. The food was very good. I especially enjoyed the brussels sprouts, which were sweet and savory. I did not sample the brisket pita or the baklava. Larry S. reported that the brisket pita was absolutely delicious and was an ample serving size with plenty of non-greasy meat. Why is this not a 4 or 5 star review? They charged an auto-tip of 18% AND charged extra for take away (the brisket was consumed off premises) without providing napkins. A service charge shouldn't be assessed without providing service, and if they are charging for take away, all of the associated accoutrements should be provided. While I will return to MIA Market, I won't patronize Jaffa again. The pricing for the food is fine as it's high quality, but the "extras" are not worth it. It felt too nickle-and-dimey. read more

This Israeli restaurant is located inside the Mia Food Hall at the Design district. I recommend that you park inside one of the garages for better rates than street parking (which is becoming quite difficult to find) I loved what I ordered here which was the Sabich platter. The eggplant was incredible and everything was so full of flavour, from the spicy sauces to the hummus. One complaint that I had was the pricing, it feels elevated. Great pita bread here. Please keep in mind that this is a stand, so you will be going up to the counter to pick it up, yes there are tables to sit at, but not dedicated just to that restaurant. It came with hummus, pita, pickles, and a tomato/cucumber salad. Everything was just kind of bland. I wouldn't say it was necessarily bad, it just didn't have much flavor. I love hummus and falafel, but these were just not great. This was another place that felt pretty expensive too. I would recommend it. The price for the area was average ($17) but any where else, you would pay around $10-12 but I guess this is to be expected for the Design District. What was annoying that even though I am already paying a premium, there was included gratuity of 18% on the check for a total of $19.69 for a single sandwich. For what? I ordered, paid for my food, and had to pick up my food from the location when the buzzer they gave me started buzzing. Highly recommend Jaffa Restaurant!! We visited the Atlantic Village in Hallandale within 2-weeks of opening this new location. Five+ stars for cleanliness, ambiance, décor and service!! They also have the ideal menu; offering both unique/fusion dishes and authentic Middle Eastern favorites. Due to the size of our party, we decided to go mezze/tapas/family-style and ordered lots of different menu items. I can honestly say that everyone was impressed at how authentic and delicious everything was. Being that my hubby is Middle Eastern, I can vouch for it's authenticity. I am absolutely addicted to Jaffa! It's in Mia Market, so I love that I can order a tower of incredible food and carry it over to the bar 10 feet away for a drink. If you aren't eating in the Design District, their takeout travels well (at least the falafel platter, can't speak to the rest yet). I've had Jafffa 5+ times now and it's always consistent and satisfying, no matter who is working the "restaurant" and what dish I order. I can confidently go here and know that my money wasn't wasted on a mediocre meal. It's not cheap, but the quality and quantity justify the cost, in my opinion. Despite the quick service, this food always tastes incredibly fresh. This place is great with friends, coworkers, by yourself, etc. and a superb option for lunches when you need something quick. I'd like to think there is something for everyone here, but in case there isn't, you have all of Mia Market to find stuff for each person in the group. :) read more

I saw that on the menu and didn't even bother looking for anything else to eat! My friend and I got there pretty early, around 10-1030am and it seemed like most places were still setting up. When entering the St. Roch Market Jaffa is the second food place on your left. I walked all of the food hall and returned back here as I love hummus. I consider myself a connoisseur of hummus. So I ordered the Classic Hummus with chickpeas $12. This was very good but not great. The portion waa oversized and when ordering I asked for extra pita for which I was charged. It came with pickles and Israeli salad. Easily can be eaten by two persons. We also ordered a Cauliflower $15. which was the entire head roasted and served on a bed of tahini. Even though we shared and it was delicious we still could not finish. To drink I had a bottle of San Pellegrino next time I will try their minted tea or lemonade as it looked great. read more

I've frequented Jaffa several times at the St. Roch Market. In my numerous visits, I've never been disappointed. The hummus is fantastic. Thick but creamy texture, dusted with spices and when paired with their crisp cumin-seasoned Falafel, Israeli salad and tahini, a perfect lunch or dinner. Roast cauliflower is beautifully plated and quite exceptionally tasty, slathered with yogurt. Deconstructed babaganoush with roast chickpeas is both a delicious and healthy snack. My wife and I went to lunch at Jaffa cafe inside the food court off 39th street in the Miami Design district. It was a cute cafe and we were greeted with smiles as we sat at the counter. We ordered the turmeric roasted Head of Cauliflower and Roasted Brussels sprouts for an appetizer. The cauliflower came dripping with tahini sauce and cilantro. The chef served up a side of a middle eastern hot sauce and it all tasted pretty darn incredible. Lunch was then served. Not your typical plate of chicken shawarma but a triple tiered presentation with all the typical fixings. My wife had the brisket bowl and we both enjoyed the perfectly matched flavors. Which, because of the portion sized we had a second chance to enjoy for dinner as well. We finished the meal with some mint tea with date honey. If you're even in the design district and looking for a break from the sun, check out the food court at 140 NE 39th Street. Walk between the buildings, turn left, up the escalator and walk straight back. Jaffa is the first cafe' on the right as you enter the food court space. Now, this isn't your typical "mall" food court, this is high end and well deserving business attire and not shorts and flip flops. But hey, it's Miami, that goes too. I visited this establishment and ordered a $21 bowl. I asked for a to-go bowl even though I was eating there because I knew I probably wouldn't finish it. When the attendant swiped my card it was for $27. I was never able to see a screen of what they were charging. It turned out they charged me $1 for ordering the food in a to-go bowl. They also helped themselves to a $3+ tip without ever letting me know that all these charges, including the tip, are being charged unless you request a receipt. This is a counter-style place where you take your food and go. It is very deceptive that they help themselves to so many charges without even having a disclosure or giving the customer an opportunity to add a tip or not. Especially when there is no service other then preparing the food. Very disappointed to feel tricked by this place. read more

It may look like your average Mediterranean cuisine, but Jaffa is anything but! It's located in the beautiful Miami Design District, inside of the St.Roch Market. I wandered in with a friend on a Friday evening and saw the collections of vendors and restaurant stalls that the market had to offer. However, Jaffa immediately called my attention not only because we were greeted by the friendly staff, but the incredible aroma of roasted cauliflower, falafel, and the spices just reminded of comfort food from back home. The restaurant was filling up quickly with a line of the customer but the staff still managed to assist every guest with a friendly welcoming attitude and deliver our food in manageable time. I ordered the falafel rice bowl (probably one of the BEST falafels in Miami!!) and my friend ordered the chicken shawarma rice bowl (the spices in the chicken could be smelled from afar). In addition, we shared a whole Roasted turmeric Cauliflower (which is a MUST try dish if you're stopping by) it comes with zaatar spiced tahini and their warm, delicious, fluffy pita bread. The Roasted turmeric cauliflower is such a great option for anyone, especially if you're vegan. Not only is beyond delicious but is such a healthy and satisfying dish (I could eat a whole head by myself!). When our bowls arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded. The falafels were nice and crispy, flavorful, and chewy. The toppings worked together beautifully. The spiced turmeric rice and tabouleh were packed with flavor, and the tahini had a great consistency and very smooth texture. My friend fell in love with their chicken shawarma. The chicken was packed with wonderful spices creating such a flavorful dish. Everything in their food was filled with wonderful taste and great presentation. By the end of the meal, we were already planning our next visit with a couple of more friends.
