We had used this company for years and apparently they are under new management or something. We prepaid for our cover to be installed and this is what we got. When I sent the pics and ask for it to be corrected, they said only if I pay an additional $99. A shame really. Used to be a very reputable company. read more

We bought a house a couple years with an in-ground pool originally installed by Lipps. So we figured "hey, who better for service and questions than the company that installed it." So here's a run down of the past three years and poll service by Lipps. Could not get them to come open or close the pool. We hired "someone" else the first year and then just figured ourselves. Fine that was plan all along. Then the pool filter developed an issue and needed servicing. That took from the beginning of summer till mid July. By then the algae bloom was insane. The pool was basically useless all summer long. We did receive one interesting piece of advice, and I quote: "shock the shit out of it and throw in your Dolphin M400, it'll clean right up." Not so much, but whatever. Fast forward to this year, the Dolphin pool cleaner is shot, brushes e climbing rings melted and gone. So we get it in to Lipps for servicing. 4 weeks later (4 weeks!!!) we get it back. Set it in the pool and turn it on. It ran for 1 hour and stopped. I haul it out and look at it, the impeller on top of the mother is broken and there's metal clip bouncing around in there. (See picture). So we take it back and they "fix it". They replaced the impeller and jammed the metal clip in crooked so it stayed. They never noticed an ENTIRE piece is missing from the top of motor. I assumed "Hey they fixed it" so I didn't really check the work. Tossed it in the pool and yep, you guessed it. It worked for LESS than hour this time. So I haul it out inspect the motor, do a little research and notice that brass metal ring is just gone. Now I'm pissed, I repair things for living and cheap shoddy work pisses me off. As you can see, I found and purchased a new motor, I installed myself (it took 15 minutes for the repair, 3 days for the part to ship here). Works perfectly!! Dave (business owner), do yourself a favor. Retire. Sell the family business, take the money, yourself and the family down to Florida, sit your ass and complain. It's time. Move on. read more

Loyal customer NO MORE! Last year, July 2023 we purchased a pool liner from Lipps. We were told we were 16th on the list for next year. Ok, no problem. 2024 spring, asked them if they knew a time frame. Answer, no, we'll call you. May, Friday before Memorial Day they called, told us to call them when we have the pool drained and they will put us "back on the list" for installation. Drained pool, 3 days later they are there to install. Pool liner 2 feet too short, they had missed measured. No apologies just " someone will be back to re-measure". Another week, no call. Left multiple messages, no return calls. Went to store, "oh we haven't reordered liner because the manufacturer wants us to check the measurements." Week 2, still no liner, no pool. Pool liner comes in, they partial install Friday before Father's Day (and poked a hole in the liner by mistake and tried to cover it up, not forthcoming.) Told us they would be back Saturday to finish. Saturday, no install, no call. Left 4 messages this time, no call back, no apologies. Now at 3 weeks, no pool. Finally came back to finish. Never once apologize or tried to make it right. Never tried to make it right for putting a hole in the liner. "If it leaks, call us". We have been loyal customer for 20 years. We put up with their unresponsiveness and poor service. No more. Good bye Lipps! I would call them to tell them directly, but they probably won't answer the phone or call me back. read more

They open & close our pool for us every year. They have free water testing. When I get my bags of salt for the year they load them into my car. We're satisfied. read more

We have purchased chemicals for our hot tub from Lipps for years. We needed a new hot tub cover so we got prices from them and checked online as well to compare prices. We found the cover on Amazon for $369.00 including delivery to the house. Lipps was a bit more- $450.00 and we'd have to pick it up or have it delivered at an additional charge. We decided despite the cost and inconvenience that we would give our business to a local one so December 15th we ordered it and were told it would take 4-6 weeks. We hadn't heard anything by the first of February so we called and they told us they weren't sure why it was taking so long but they'd look into and call us back. They didn't call. We waited another week. Called again. Same thing. They didn't call. We called every week and not once did they ever call with the status. Finally got a message that the cover was in. My husband told them we weren't very happy with the customer service and explained we opted to go with them even though it cost more and we would have to pick it up. After realizing it would not fit in the Jeep we asked if there was any way they could help us out and deliver it since we waited so long, etc. The salesperson put my husband on hold to speak to the owner and after explaining everything to him he was unwilling to work with us at all. So my husband found someone to pick it up. He went to tell them who it was and that they had permission to get it. He left and was walking to the car when the owner came out and asked him to sign for the cover so as he was signing the paperwork he said "you know this is a really bad way to do business. We have been loyal customers but won't do business with you anymore." As the owner turned to walk back into the store he muttered "You'll be back ". I don't know if he wanted my husband to hear it or not but he heard it. This was the owner. I'm so disappointed that we were treated this way. We patiently waited three weeks longer than promised and could have had it $80.00 cheaper with free delivery in 14-21 days had we used Amazon. We tried to support a local business. They didn't care about keeping our business so he's wrong- We will not be back. read more

Keep your lawyer on speed dial... I highly recommend that you document via text and save your screen shots of the communication you send these guys. I just hope the son is different than his dad... Terrible communication! If you want to be a project manager for your pool then go with these guys because you will have to follow up like you've never followed up before. Lack of attention to detail, terrible job at closing the pool. If they don't correct the problems I'm going to sue the fuck out of them. The case is already built to recoup... Trust me... save every text like I did if you do use them so you are protected. My lawyer found so many flaws. Just keep everything and take lots of pictures. They will tell you that they will grade your yard when finished.. they are full of crap... read more

Shoddy customer service does not even begin to cover the experience my husband and I had with this company. Their technicians pad their call-out sheets and then boldly lie about it, their store employees overbook the technicians and then take a cavalier attitude about the customer's wait time, and the owner could not care less about the horrid customer service or his employees' penchant for lying, which leads me to believe he encourages this specious behavior in those who work for him. We were charged for an hour's worth of labor to clean & vacuum our pool, to include the addition of chemicals (which were bought from the business). Their technician showed up, spent 15 minutes not cleaning the pool (merely skimmed the top) & then claimed the pool was too murky for him to vacuum & that we needed new sand in our filter before he could clean the pool properly. He left after having been at our location for 20 minutes; the pool was still dirty since he never vacuumed an inch of it. He also lied about attempting to clean the pool, as I found a key piece of equipment needed to vacuum the pool that was not attached to the hose after he hurriedly left, so there is no way he bothered to even try to clean the pool in the manner we were charged and paid for. When we spoke to the company owner's son, Damon, he was dismissive and did nothing to rectify the situation. Needless to say, we'll never patronize this business again, and we will encourage everyone we know to look elsewhere for their pool needs. read more

I will honestly have to say at this point that I am very upset with the owner and the service we have received from him for the installation of our inground pool, I had to call for someone to come and explain how to operate the equipment after the pool was installed. We did not receive the correct motor required by code to pass the inspection and now I am waiting for the correct motor to be installed, and expect to wait all day as they can't give you a time when someone will be coming. I also have a leak coming from one of the pipes, so I am having to also put more water in the pool. I received the final bill and the pool is still not legally ready to be used. The employees that have been doing the work are all very polite but when you call the office Damon (the owner's son) or Dave will keep telling you everything will be taken care of. I will have to also give good remarks when you take a water sample the staff are very courteous and helpful. I would suggest for everyone to read their contract carefully as it has been over 30 days and we still are waiting. I would check with other pool companies as Lipps seem to be doing mutiple jobs everyday at different locations. read more

Twenty years ago when I moved into KY, I briefly used Lipps Pool and Spa for supplies and service. They overcharged, were very rude and wouldn't stand by their service. I never used them again, until I was looking for some basic pool ladder and railing escutcheon shields and rubber/vinyl caps for my ladder. I was desperate and as my last stop, I said well it has been twenty years so maybe their customer service had improved. Nope! Same type of arrogant people doing you a favor and taking their time to even knowledge your presence (3 people behind counter). When I was told they were out of the supplies I needed...the sales clerk replied "I guess this isn't your day" in a wise cracking and cynical voice. What a total lack of understanding of customer service. Yep, same culture that existed under Dave Lipps twenty years ago continues to this day. Do not use Lipps Pools! read more

I have been using Lipps for several years, and have always received great customer service. They have free water testing and their staff is experienced and knowledgeable. We also use them to open and close our pool. Their technicians do a great job, and their rates are reasonable when compared to other pool businesses in the area. I will give them a huge ZERO star. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience !!!!! "Their installer" which by the way are subcontractors so lipps pool DOES NOT stand behind them were worse than ridiculous. We went there because we wanted a dough boy pool, when we purchased pool we were told that when "their" installers start we would have "no worries" Lipps Pool suggested that the pool could have a small deep end so we liked the idea and we purchased a better quality 25ml liner. When excavator came we showed him where the underground utilities were clearly marked and could be seen on house, he promptly dug up our electric line resulting in an emergency fix, he dug the pool with a full size bobcat and it should have been done with a small back hoe. The sides had NO angle and the bottom of deep end should have been no more than 4 1/2 ft across was more then 7 1/2 ! Now it gets realy bad the installer came and immediately was NASTY and rude, complained because we had bought the better liner theses liners hurt his hands, left to get concrete, came back without it by then it was raining, sent me to cover sand because he would not shovel GD wet sand ! by this time I was in the gaping hole wet and muddy, I had to put a pump in beause of water coming into hole so I and standing in water holding an extension cord, drenched muddy and he gets in his truck and leaves !!! He came back at some point and put in the 4 main uprights, but they were out of line by over 5 inches. We called Lipps after all this mess and were told basically "tough luck" they only sold us the pool !!! Damon is a coward and left 1 message on answer machine and sent a dismissive email how what had happened was normal ??? I sent Dough Boy pictures and told them what had happened and they were appalled. Long painful story short we found a dough boy installer that was retired to come give us an educated opinion to go to court if need be, he saw what was done and it angered him so much that he agreed to install the pool. 2 days of hard work 4 guys plus my husband and I , a rented cement mixer, 26- 60lb bags of concrete, 14 -90lb bags of Portland cement and 28 bags of vermiculite to completely rebuild the sides and bottom we had a pool. Oh and by the way I live in Rising Sun Indiana and my neighbor across the road used Lipps for her Pool and had a bad experience as well as a neighbor up the road where they installed the wrong liner on their in ground pool ! Horrible Customer Service. Do not believe a thing they tell you on the phone, get it in writing and get the name of the person you spoke to. Have repeatedly been told one thing on the phone, only to get to the store or have the tech get to the house and find out that what was told to me was completely false. Wasted an hour and a half going to and form the store the other day to get a specific wrench that they told me they had in stock, only to find out that they didn't have it when I got to the store. When I asked what they would do about my wasted time and the bad info that I was given over the phone, they said nothing. read more

Very disappointed in Lipps. I will not reccommend them. Istallation was very poor, we had to go back and tighten everything on the pump that was leaking. The excavation and installation in not done by them so you are at the mercy of them and there is no accountability. I thought a smaller company would be better, but I will go back to eastgate pools if needed in the future. read more

Very dishonest. Had issues with the installation, owner would not do anything to fix the issues. Went to the BBB they stated we were in the right and it needed repaired. Owner created a work order to complete work once spring came around. This was ok with BBB, work never completed and owner would not return any calls after that. I would not recommend Lipps to anyone. read more
