If my house were a human body, it would be that 65-year-old uncle who smoked menthols, drank gas station coffee for three decades, and is somehow still alive--but only because Jolly Plumbing keeps resuscitating it. In the last five years, I've called these guys more than I've called my own parents. Clogged drains? Snaked. Garbage disposal sounding like a blender full of rocks? Replaced. Sink basin cracked in half like Moses parted it? Handled. Entire HVAC system wheezing its last breath? Ripped out and swapped like a bad organ transplant. They WILL try to RIP YOU OFF, and TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU by charging you an OUTRAGEOUS price for service that you may or may not EVEN need. What to do instead: Try Angies list, nextdoor, or reddit for a plumber that will charge you a quarter of the price! How do I know Jolly will try to rip you off and is overall a greedy, sham of a company? 1. I experienced it first hand: My water heater temperature escape valve opened up (as intended) and unfortunately leaked a bunch of water on my floor before I caught it. Jolly plumbing came by and recommended the correct fix for my problem (hats off guys) - installing an expansion tank and PRV valve on my main. Total cost was $2000 to do this job that would take less than 4 hours. Not only that, but they tried to sell me on a new water heater because "it was close to the replacement cost of a new water heater" and he "wasn't sure how long it would last", a baseless claim I might add. Guess how much they tried to charge me for that? $6K (see attachment). Do a minimal amount of googling and you can see this is about a 3-4 X markup. I went with a small mom and pop plumbing shop - they did not try to sell me a new water heater and charged me $650 for the whole job, and brought my whole system up to code. 2. Value? No. They wanted $2000 to replace a 2-20 foot sections of copper pipe. The pipe would've cost less than a couple of hundred dollars. Who in their right mind would pay $1800 for an hour and a half of labor? Unconscionable. Another competent plumber will do it for $600. They quoted over $4000 to brush and pressure wash our drain pipe, which is flowing OK. Apparently that process takes a little over an hour. Why would their labor and overhead be so very extravagant? Altogether their personnel suggested almost $8000 in plumbing repairs while on our site. Our home is 20 years old and all systems are working. The plumbing manager called back after this review to try to negotiate, which we had done twice before. I had already agreed for another company to do the work. Be careful what you agree to... some people are out to maximize their profits... get another quote or two! Their People are nice. New air conditioner - broke down twice in 2 months. Bought new air condition in May, beginning of July breaks down and no one responds to calls after 5 p.m. - no emergency calls. I am a "preferred" member and pay a monthly fee to get to top of list - did not receive call all weekend. They don't work weekends. Two weeks later, unit stops working again. Call for service - compressor is dead and will need to order a new one. They sold me a new air conditioner and put it in within 24 hours - but I may not get this part until it is ordered. I tried Jolly Plumbing for the first time yesterday because I could not find the name of the company I used a couple of years ago. Everyone was very nice, and they came right away the next morning. They replaced a pressure reducing valve that was causing a horrible shrill noise with a new one just like it and replaced a small piece of corroded pipe near the water meter. The noise has stopped, and the work appears to be fine. My issue is with the cost, which was not itemized but came to $881. That seemed awfully high to me, so I looked back through my credit card records and found that when the old pressure regulator was installed in 2023, the cost was only $289 (and that included adding an expansion tank to my furnace and replacing a leaky bathtub feature)! That's nearly $600 more! I felt I needed to let other people know so they can at least get a second estimate first. read more

I've had 4 technicians come to my home. 3 plumbers, Chase, Dylan, and Zack. And 1 for HVAC, Caden. I have been extremely pleased with every one of them. I will never use another company again. If you decide to hire these wonderful people you will never have to worry about being over charged or up sales. They normally will come out same day. I certainly didn't expect that this home, that we just moved into, to need the work that we have had to have done. But, since I did I am very grateful that I called Jolly. Where do I begin? Jolly likes to cover its tracks by sending immediate surveys and emails asking for your feedback. But wait until you read how I responded - and they NEVER called me. They don't really care about your feedback at all. First of three appointments: a drain specialist came out to unclog both drains in my master bathroom. I made the mistake of telling him that my husband passed away three weeks ago and this was my first home issue to handle on my own. At first, he was compassionate and said he would get it fixed for me. But soon, he was making inappropriate comments. He complimented my tattoos, my toenail polish, and the decor of my master bedroom. But wait - it gets worse. He couldn't fix the clog, so we came downstairs to set up another appointment and bill me. He proceeded to ask me, in rapid fire questions: how did my husband die, how does it feel to be alone now, how old my husband was, how old I am, if we had kids, and would I sell the house and downsize. Keep in mind I had never met this man before. I stopped him and walked him to the door. He set his toolbox on the porch and asked if he could give me a hug before he left. Um, NO. Hard no. Unprofessional, inappropriate, creepy. I wrote ALL of this in an email to management. But do you think I heard from anyone? I did not. Second and third appointments: a different plumber and a different drain specialist came out. It was not cheap, but they did fix the clogs and did a great job. On the third appointment, the plumber came back to fix something on my hot water heater. He did a good job of that too, but he forgot to flip the breakers back on. Little did I know, until my cold shower the next morning, that my water heater was off and had not been running all night. I finally figured it out myself and had my hot water back within two hours. The actual repair was good. But the rest was such a bad experience, and the fact that management apparently doesn't care and didn't contact me, convinced me never to use Jolly again. And if you do anyway, beware, because they will just keep finding things that need to be fixed and keep charging you for them. read more

September 2018 I hired Jolly plumbing to fix the exterior water issues I have causing excess water to dump into my garage and basement. I have a recessed driveway and the drain appeared clogged so the initial plan was to open up the exterior drain and connect it to my internal drain for a price of $3,600. I agreed and John opened up the concrete only to discover the pipes weren't there and a sump pump needed to be installed the price went up to $7,600, I agreed. This work entailed using a jack hammer to dig up the concrete at the bottom of my driveway and repair, install sump pump, to install the drain and to smooth out the water damaged parts leading into my driveway. The new concrete was supposed to be slopes down away from the garage so water wouldn't get in. I called Jolly and voiced my concerns that the plumber wasn't doing professional work, trash was left on my property each day, and had concerns when he concrete dug wasn't saw cut so the jack hammer shatter my drive way. When the plumber original went to lay the new concrete he only filled in the immediate areas around the drain. He assured me that even though the trough drain doesn't extend the full length of the driveway rain would not get under my garage door as it had for the last 6 years. I begged for the trough to reach both sides and was ignored. I called Jolly plumbing left multiple messages for mgmnt. I'm a single mom of two little kids and I felt like they ignored me and did a bad job because I didn't have anyone else here to help me advocate even though I was watching the horrible work happening and speaking up. John's solution to the water that was going around the drain was to build tiny little slaps of cement and angle them away from the drain. But of course, you can't lay cement on top of old cement and expect it not to break off, like it did. And I don't even drive into my driveway! Also, when my neighbor (man) saw the poor patch job done on my cement work during the fill he contacted Jolly and someone came out here to extend the cement to my garage covering most of the damage caused by John when he decide not to saw my cement before hammering it. But they only fixed the center portion of the drive way and left the sides warped and an entry point for water to continue to enter my house. He left the sides of my driveway, badly worn from water collecting over the years, installation alone, even though this was supposed to be address in the bid as part of fixing the concrete. Instead, he was lazy and built those little broke cement lips as a water deterrent. I called many many many times to voice this worry knowing water would still get into my basement because I know how it likes to come down the sides of my driveway and into my garage. NO one came out to look at the job. But I was expected to pay the remainder amount of my bill consisting of $3,300. When the job was "complete" I saw a little snub white piece of pvc hanging out of my foundation wall next to the sump pump. John assures me the pump should drain this way. I didn't feel comfortable with it because it seemed like the water could damage the foundation. I asked that it be directed away from the house. Instead of actually draining it away from the house, he put an elbow and small pvc pipe, put insulation around it and all this did was direct the water from my pump literally back into my foundation. As soon as spring came I saw a sunken HOLE next to my foundation, below the foundation line. I sent the pictures to Ryan who barely acknowledged me and said he would send someone out that week. Wayne came and properly buried the sump pump drain into my back yard, as John should of done, but didn't even though I asked him to. In May, I met with Scott, per my request, inside Jolly plumbing's office. Scott's position was that his company had done me a favor by not charging me to come out there and properly bury the pump line. I asked if he looked at any of the pictures that he claimed to have looks at because if he had he wouldn't of said what he just said. He reluctantly looked at the pics and changed the topic. Such a sad way to do business. He was unprepared and had looked at none of the photos I had sent over the last 6 months. He has no photos of my property prior to beginning the work. And states that John didn't damage my drive way with the jack hammer. John did and I assured him of it. But Scott agreed to take a thousand dollars off of the bill. Now I'm stuck with a wet basement and Jolly wants to charge me another $1k to have the concrete repaired that should of been repaired as promised in the bid. I refuse to give them anymore money and have disputed $2.6k that I recently paid them and am completely prepared to represent the case in court. read more

I think the business model of this company deserves a lower rating but I want to keep this review honest and fair. I was going to fix my own toilet because it was constantly running. I shut off the valve and bought some parts. I noticed the valve was leaking and when I turned it back on the tank wasn't filling and the valve was still leaking. I worried that it may be leaking behind the wall so I called Jolly. Tech arrived very quickly. Valve just needed to be tightened. Easy fix. Service call was roughly $90 which is very fair especially considering how fast they arrived. Since I had the parts and he was there I asked if he could just fix the toilet. He pulled up the parts on his tablet and with the service call came out to roughly $350. He showed me the parts and prices on the tablet coming out to roughly $260 for a short supply line and toilet parts including flapper. It was less than $30 in parts for $260! I understand it's a business and they have to profit but an 800% markup is insane. I told this to the tech and he nicely explained they have to sell me something if he's going to fix it. He waived the service call fee, used half my parts, sold me a supply line and a part to fix the flapper for $160. Since I was willing to pay the $90 and $160 meant I didn't have to fix it myself I paid it. He did a great job and was professional. My big issue is where does this company get off marking parts up so high?! I pictured my parents not understanding anything about plumbing just blindly paying the $350 and being taken advantage of. The job took less than 30 minutes. I feel like this business model is designed to take advantage of people who don't know any better. Again, I stress the tech was professional and doing his job. He showed me the parts and prices on his tablet. I have another job that I need a plumber for and I will not be using Jolly again. I do not recommend them. read more

I live in Downtown Covington KY and I have used Jolly Plumbing for over two years. I have always been pleased with their service & pricing. Recently I called Jolly to fix/replace a bathtub faucet. The price for labor was quoted was just under $1000. I am glad I purchased a replacement faucet @ Lowes because they quoted an additional $500 if I needed a faucet. OUTRAGEOUS PRICING!. The bathtub faucet had a substantial leak and I needed to get it repaired sooner, rather than later. So I authorized the work. It took the two plumbers 4 hours to complete the job. They left the job site for over 2 hours because they had to get a part. Needless to say, I am very disappointed! Somehow the word "greedy" doesn't cover my feelings about this job. Approximately 1.5 years ago Jolly replaced a bathroom sink faucet. They charged $399. And, in October of 2021 Jolly replaced two furnaces at this property for a total of $10,000. I have spent substantial money with Jolly and thought that those past "purchases" would give me some consideration with Jolly. Apparently not. I will never use them again! read more

EXPENSIVE!!! I called to have a strainer and faucet installed in a new sink. I have purchased all the needed parts ahead of time. I was quoted over $500. I laughed and told him I'd do it myself. It took me 20 minutes to complete. It was not a complicated install. I have no idea how they justify their prices. Do they charge $1500 an hour? The plumber was friendly but the price was comical. They gave me an estimate and said I was free to take it or get other estimates. It was a little more than I was expecting but I took it. Very professional and friendly, really seemed to go the extra mile and explained well what in the installation was wrong, etc. So he did really well. Cons: their prices are *freaking STEEP*. Isaiah Maines....what can I say. He came in, traced the entire gas line, which a different plumber didn't do, and figured out why our dryer was getting no gas. Seems a pressure tester turned the line off in a remote area of our garage and never turned it back on. So not only did we dispose of what was probably a perfectly good gas dryer but have sent two new ones back to the appliance store assuming the dryers were defective. Once the first plumber told us our line was good (I don't know how since gas was turned off), we had Jolly/Isaiah come out after the second new dryer didn't heat. He did his job and did it well! While I'm frustrated this all has cost throwing out a perfectly good dryer, the purchase of a new dryer because it was assumed the first dryer was not worth fixing, and a second plumbing service call, I'm glad it was figured out. I have been building and contracting homes for 25 years. I have never ran across a company that tries to scam people like this company does. They said HVAC was leaking carbon monoxide and needed to be replaced. High pressure sales even trying to scare my son into leaving work to hurry and sign. JOLLY then dropped the price significantly when they saw my son wasn't biting at their bullshit. 2 other companies came in for inspections after and no issues. This outfit is straight up scaming people. They will respond w some blah blah blah crap " we are sorry and try to fix internal issues" that is for them to try and look good. They are set up to scam people based on some of these other reviews and the experience. 12 thousand dollar scam job. Nice try Jolly. They were not experiencing ANY problems with the units- they just needed an age of the unites for the sale of the house. The service tec and the sales were in on it together. Lying about leaks and high pressure sales from the sales team. This means this is happening often. I can't imagine how many young kids and elderly they are stealing from. My first disappointment was upon arrival. The two technicians were not wearing masks, nor did the cover their feet to avoid tracking things through the house. The website makes it sound like they'll use a camera to diagnose the problem. (we had a clogged sink) However, they don't do that unless you're a "member." They didn't even have it with them. Ultimately, I paid $300 to have them snake the drain that will likely clog again. We provided the technicians with towels, but they didn't use them and left a mess instead. I do not recommend calling this company if you have an issue. I've had much better experiences with Roto Rooter. I should have called them instead. read more

I recently had a gas 50 gallon hot water heater replaced and I was charged a lot more than expected. $1719. It only had to be moved from the basement door out an easy opening. It was for my tenants below and I did not want them to wait while I got different quotes. I have been a regular customer of Jolly and was surprised to find that all other quotes would have been $1200 and under. A hot water tank averages $500 to $600. He worked an hour and a half which included picking the new one up. My invoice did not even show the breakdown between labor and the heater. Not surprised. $200 for $1.26, go elsewhere. I scheduled an appointment online to cap a gas line that is outside. The retail price of the part is $1.26 at Home Depot, and it would have taken no more than 15 minutes to cut the pipe and install the cap. I was informed that it was a $200 minimum, I laughed and sent them on their way. There was never a mention of the $200 minimum in the confirmation email. There was however a lengthy email regarding my responsibility regarding protecting them from Covid-19. Apparently, their customers don't deserve the same courtesy as the two employees arrived without wearing masks. He noticed our hot water heater was leaking and gave a quote for replacing that as well. The staff is friendly and the work was done quick. Price was competitive. I would definitely recommend them to a friend and will use them again when I decide to replace the water heater. read more

After visiting Sears to find only a very lame plunger, I was forced to call a plumber. Jolly Plumbing to the rescue! Over the phone they gave me an estimate of the time they would arrive and they were right on time. Two plumbers were able to diagnose the problem and resolve the issue in less than 10 minutes. Don't use them. I called them about a sewer problem and the tech said he would talk to SD1 and then I never heard back from Jolly. I had to call SD1 myself after a day of no phone call back then took SD1 2 more days to come out. Then the SD1 called and said it was my problem and would call Jolly. Never heard a word from Jolly that Friday. By Monday I called Jolly and they said the tech did a estimate. The estimate was for $4800. I told them I was having other ppl come out to give me an estimate. I called Morgans plumbing (excellent by the way) and he found out it wasn't even my sewer line. It was my neighbors after putting a camera down the drain. Which Jolly never did and if they would have it wouldn't had taken a week to figure it out and to give me an estimate without even knowing what the issue was plus no phone calls back ever. Today fixed another leaking faucet, approx 15 minutes and cost was $240! He did give pricing before performing the work, but I wish I'd asked on the phone before taking time to schedule a call. Contacted the office and spoke with service manager (Ryan) who said it was a new billing structure they've recently implemented. So I was happy with Jolly Plumbing prior to moving to NKY...during escrow they found my septic tank lid, dug it out...and checked to insure the septic at least probably worked (that's right) and didn't leak..all well and good to the tune of over one thousand dollars...fair enough I guess. Now to the present: out of a sense of loyalty to them I called about a leaking 1/2 gate valve that served my hose bib outside..located in my dry, warm basement....another gate valve of the exact same type that was frozen..located in my warm dry basement...frozen meaning with a handle that wouldn't turn..additionally running a simple 3/4 condensate line 10 feet from the furnace to the floor drain..again in my warm dry basement...as well as unfreezing the big brass spigot on my service sink in the basement (just stuck in place) (penetrating oil much)...again in my warm dry basement...all work to be done total and complete easy easy access..no small spaces...no crawling...none of that...just stand in place and work.....and additionally replacing a cheap mixing vale at the upstairs service sink (new) in the laundry room...the young man listened to what needed to be done...went out to the truck for about 10 minutes to get pricing...and returned..I only got as far on the estimate as the gate valve replacement......I was honestly flabbergasted at the pricing estimate just to change a cheap $15.00 (that's right max fifteen dollar) 1/2" gate valve...simply un-sweating the old valve in place and replacing it...super simple..estimate $350.00 dollars.....look, that is the price I would have paid for the whole job...not just one fixture...MY BACKGROUND: I was a mechanical contractor in California for over 30 years..you know...large commercial heating/ventilation/cooling towers/gas chillers...hospital work..public works..I built cooling towers and manufactured replacement parts in my full service sheet metal shop in Huntington Beach...I know what the cost of doing business is...seriously in California, too! But hey, this is piddling little nothing work..I mean my lord the work to be done was in my warm basement...no access problems whatsoever...everything completely easy to get to. And look, for instance lets price some material::: a 1/2 copper gate valve can't cost more than what, maybe $16.00 dollars at the supply house, if that?...so I guess I'll go buy some MAPP gas, some cheap silver solder..a couple of valves...some schedule 40 PVC and a couple of fittings, and a cheap fixture for the sink and spend around maybe $130.00 dollars at the outside (at the outside) for materials at Home Depot???? Lowe???..and save over $1500.00 dollar or more just doing it myself!!!!!!...I wonder what happens to poor people here who can't afford prices like this?? What happens to them? Am I out of touch? No, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's a duck..so when you get an estimate from a company like Jolly prepare to "DUCK" LOL..I DID! Nothing personal against Jolly plumbing...I sure they're very nice people..they seem to be on the phone...but let the buyer beware, right? read more
