Our artist was kind, funny and overall a great experience. However, I'm not a fan of getting 30 minutes to try to mix your color for $65. You don't really end up with a color you love. For example, i ended up taking home a lipstick color that I came in wearing from MAC. You end up buying the lipstick out of sympathy because your representative is really nice. It does feel rushed although our representative tried to find the nude I was hoping for, I also came in with inspiration photos to speed up the process. I tried to come in to build the color I couldn't find in stores. However I ended up with another brown because it looked good on me, but I already stated I owned several and showed her what I didn't want (what I had on) My advice is to let them try the three attempts, if it doesn't work walk away. Don't keep trying because it will add to the fact that this representative doesn't understand your vision or is not aware of how to make the color work on you. They don't necessarily hire "artist professionals" they hire biology students going to college who don't know much about makeup or color theory. It's not the same. read more

The one star is for the lack of any customer service. This is a new store at the Spectrum and they are in the business of selling experiences, specifically create your own lipsticks. I walked in because the store front does look very attractive. I thought it was a candy store. It took me a few minutes to figure out what they sold but I was pretty shocked that no one greeted me or had someone come over to explain what they did. I had to figure it out for myself. I get that their attention would be on those who had made appointments, but any business selling experiences should have a greeter and someone explaining what they are selling. My best friend and I had an appointment at 11am. We were greeted and teamed up with Chu-Chu and got our own little section in the back with 2 other people. As everything was getting set up we were able to take pictures around the lab. They had a backdrop with lippies and 2 seating areas with lippie pillows and each station had a simple human makeup mirror. The whole set up was so cute. Chu-Chu was so sweet and made our experience so memorable. She helped guide us through the whole experience and was super patient with all four of us. She never rushed us and made sure the lipstick shades were exactly what we wanted. She told us that we got to choose our own scent, lipstick finish and engraving on our lipstick caps. She mixed the right color for my skin tone and knew exactly what I was looking for! I was even looking at the products and interested in trying some samples there. Nobody came to me, but I saw one of the employees was helping the other customer. Shout out to Lilac for giving me and my friends an amazing experience. She was so friendly and patient with creating our custom lip shades. She listened to what each of us wanted and was pretty much able to create it on the first try. She also encouraged us to try different shades and showed us a few of her favorite lip shades. She thoroughly explained the different combinations with finishes, hues and brightness and explained to us what combinations would be added to get what shade we were looking for. After creating our custom lip shades and picking the names for it, we left and came back after 1hr to get our finished products. We had an appointment, showed up a few minutes early and they took us at our appointment time. They are pretty busy so I would really recommend an appointment vs a walk in. read more

This is my first time here at the lip lab and we decided to go as a mother and daughter day before my daughter heads back to school. My daughter is 10 years old and she had an amazing time choosing her lip gloss. Upon arrival, all the sales rep were really nice and took us in right away even when we were early (this was based on availability). The sales rep that helped us was Lilac and she helped us through the process of chosing our lipsticks, color, smell, sheer, and finish. She even helped us choose the name of our lipstick. This place is amazing and it is made better by the awesome staff working there! I went in with my wife the other day and we were helped by Anh and we couldn't have asked for better service!! She walked us through the process step by step and tailored the lipstick exactly to what my wife was looking for. She loved the first lipstick she made and she was so happy with it she asked for another one. When she started making the second one, people kept coming in asking for help and questions and Anh was great at multitasking us and the rest of the people coming in. When we were almost ready to start the second lipstick, she noticed my wife wasn't as thrilled for this one as the first one and even though she was busy she made it a point to say she wanted her to have the same reaction of the second lipstick and she did for the first one which she loved and started all over again to help her reach that goal. I can here for my birthday after a friend of mine had an amazing experience. I was immediately greeted and serviced by CHARLIE who was INCREDIBLE. They were able to mix both shades I wanted in only two tries! To be part of/watch the entire process makes the price worth it. When I got home I thought one of the lipsticks did look slightly different than I remembered. I called the store back they were more than willing to re-mix the color. However, I did try on the lipstick again the next day and figured out the issue...LIGHTING My only advice would be to swatch the color before leaving so you don't second guess yourself like I did! I was excited to treat my daughter and her friends to this "experience". Unless you just have money to waste, this is a disappointment. It's not hands on at all. You get to pick things, but you don't get to make anything (only watch). The worst part about it was that we were rushed and didn't even enjoy doing it together in a group. The employees were not fun or friendly. I would go as far as saying boring. 5/5 stars! I was so happy with my experience at the BITE Lip Lab in the Irvine Spectrum! The lab took excellent safety measures and made me feel super comfortable during the whole experience. Anh was my Lip Lab Expert and she helped me create my perfect nude shade. She listened to exactly what I wanted to help me produce a pinky, mauvey, darkish nude that made my teeth look white. The entire staff was super sweet and helpful. Anh was super knowledgeable about the process of making lipstick and it was fascinating to watch her create my perfect shade. I got to choose my shade color, finish, and fragrance. I went for a demi-matte / vanilla and am so pleased with the result. I was also able to use a coupon code (LIPLAB15) that got me 15% off and made the price more reasonable ($54 instead of $64). One thing I thought was super awesome was that BITE saved my special shade combination in their database, so when I run out of my lipstick I can come back and they can recreate my perfect shade for me again! They use a specific ratio of colors to create it, so they took note of that ratio (x grams of "Cashew" color, and x grams of "Violet" color). I definitely want to come back here and make another shade soon. It was such a special and fun experience, I can't wait to go back and hope every makeup lover gets to try it! read more
