Great food if you let Mr. Lin bring you what he recommends from the Taiwanese specialties. Utterly unmemorable if you order typical American-Chinese food like sweet-sour pork. I dragged the family here because of the great Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed! Mr Lin took our order and started us with hot tea, crisps with duck sauce and kimchi, but not a heavily salted kimchi like you get in some places. The cabbabge in this version was delightfully crunchy, notably flavored with ginger and a bit spicy. Delish. I ordered the fried oysters plus the Taiwanese sausage. Way too much food. The sausage is literally just sliced sausage with diced fresh garlic cloves. No sauce, no other veg, only those two things, plus brown or white rice on the side. Tasty sausage and a very simple presentation. The oysters were battered in something like tempura and arrived crispy with a light sprinkle of salt and pepper, the fresh sweet oyster meat inside, outstanding. One family member ordered the sweet-sour pork. It was competently prepared and pleasant but forgettable. I don't recommend it. Another ordered chicken broccoli. Again it was prepared just fine but you wouldn't drive far to get it again. The third and slightly smarter family member ordered stir fried beef with onion, this had some interesting flavor (altho no heat) and was worth the calories. I read on Yelp about an oyster pancake. Instead I found on the menu an oyster omlette. Think that's something to try next time, that and the stinky tofu. I have no idea what that is but I want to find out. Crispy. Not oily. What a vegetable spring roll should be, although I do find myself wishing for a little more vegetable variety inside. Still, yum. -beef & broccoli: crisp broccoli, a nice light sauce and tender, good meat. This is my tester dish for new spots. Passed with flying colors. From the Taiwanese menu: -Taiwanese sausage : a sweet and delicious sausage that reminds me of glazed ham. Very aromatic, and it's flavorful reputation is well deserved. -noodle soup with pork & pickled cabbage: reminiscent of wanton soup, but better. We had: - steamed pork dumplings - fresh and homemade - scallion pancake - good, standard - oyster omelet pancake - one of the better oyster pancakes I've had. Oysters were good (not fishy/oystery). However once it cooled it got a bit gelatinous. - noodle soup with ground pork - tasty homey dish, something the in-laws would make I believe our server was the manager(owner?) and he was very friendly. He really wanted us to try the homemade Taiwanese sausage and wrapped sticky rice but we were too full. We vowed to return. read more

5 Stars for the Taiwanese Sausages for sure. I don't know how they make it but it's definitely just like the ones I've had in TW and probably the best ones I've had here in the US. Like most of others I've came here after hearing how authentic their Taiwanese menus are and on my way to High Point Park finally had a chance to stop by and try for myself. Other dishes that I've got: Stinky Tofu : Pretty good and definitely authentic but I had hoped they had spicier sauce haha I think I've acquired a spicier taste recently Oyster Pancake: Very good and they are very generous with the sauce as well as veggies, I would recommend this as well if you like fried eggs. Fishball Soup: Quite nice but I thought was bit expensive for a 6 pieces of fish balls around $9 Minced Pork Rice: Not bad but I felt it was bit dry. Overall it was a pretty decent meal although I felt it was bit more expensive than I expected, I think because of the location and not really anywhere close could offer an authentic TW meal experience the price adjusts according :-) The staff were very friendly however and location was good right on a busy road near the town center. When I first moved to Morristown, I missed my family's home cooked meals. I was ecstatic to find Lin's Palace within a short walk from my apartment. The owners are always so incredibly friendly. When I brought my parents once, the owner sent me home with some bittermelon he grew himself. They truly have a heart of gold and it shows in their food. My favorite dish to get here is the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and the braised beef over rice. The food always reminds me of home. read more

We visited this place by accident, but it turned out to be one of the best Taiwanese food we can find now in Jersey. This place highly preserved some of the southern Taiwanese flavor and night market dishes/snacks. Which is really a plus! At first, this place seemed sketchy from the outside, seems like a typical Chinese take out place. We were just passing by Morristown on a Sunday night and were hungry because it was dinner time. As soon as we walked in, we were being greeted property and taken to our seats. We ordered oyster omelette, stinky tofu, shrimp roll and spanish mackerel soup（土魠魚羹): -Oyster omelette: was in large portion and was cooked very well with a little crispy on the bottom. -Stinky tofu: I have to warn you this dish really smells stinky! Which is actually very authentic, and the taste was really good as well. It comes with the Taiwanese style kimchi just like any night markets. But it would be better if they could have provided spicy sauce to come with it. -Shrimp roll: crispy crust with fresh shrimps inside. -Spanish mackerel soup（土魠魚羹): I was amazed to see them offering this local Tainan dish, but the taste was just ok for me. Wouldn't recommend. The owners were very friendly to us. After they found out we understand and could speak a little "Hokkien" (台語) (another language that is being spoken in Taiwan instead of Mandarin), they gave us extra appetizers, peanuts, sausages and fried squid! For those of you that don't speak Hokkien, maybe next time you can try to say "hello" as "jia-ba-vui" (吃飽沒) to the owners and maybe they will give you extra stuff too. We chatted with the owners and they told us all their history of those old days working in Kaohsiung's seafood restaurant (海霸王), the days they got off the boat to USA, and how they open this store for 30 years. It was really a interesting night and they even offered us to have some red wine at the end! After we finished our dinner, we also ordered sausage fried rice, rice noodles and stir pork with bamboo for take out. I just tried them today and they were all worth ordering. We are also interested to try their budda jumps wall (佛跳牆) next time (need to cal them in advance for special ordering). I ordered the stinky bean curd here once because I wanted to feel cool/adventurous and order from the Taiwanese menu. The owner's eyes lit up when I ordered that and he smiled and said something like "oh, you know Vietnamese food?" So like, mission accomplished there because I totally felt those feelings. When I got home and opened the box though it became clear that the stinky tofu was, well... stinky. I don't know what I was expecting. It didn't taste very different from regular fried tofu but the smell just killed it for me. Pretty much everything else I've tried has been good though! Even the food from the chinese menu tends to be cooked a bit lighter than the usual sauce and sugar soaked stuff you get at typical chinese restaurants around here and has more of a "home cooked" feel. Been here a few times, lin's is basically a historical landmark at this point. Back in the day, like 30 years ago my parents used to come to this place. For me, this place is all about the vibe. You can get chinese fast food anywhere, but lin's has a very laid back vibe. If you are looking for a simple, cheap meal with some friends, drop by lins. The portion was huge, probably enough for 3 meals for two and the price is way affordable. The best Chinese food in North Jersey! This place does have your standard Chinese food (i.e. general tso's chicken, broccoli beef) but it's Taiwanese food menu is the real hidden gem. The Chinese sausage and chicken with peppercorn are tasty basic entrees. The chicken and cream corn soups is great on a cold day. The combination platters, with pork fried rice and egg roll are a great dinner option that could definitely be split between two people. This is the only restaurant I know of near where we live which serves authentic and really good Taiwanese food. For aficionados of Taiwanese food, they have stinky tofu and oyster pancakes and so many of the other Taiwanese street eats. The baked oysters are really good, and almost tastes like something from an Italian restaurant. The owners and the servers here are super nice and really try hard to make sure the dining experience is a good one. My family discovered this place while searching for a Taiwanese restaurant. Overall, the Taiwanese food is pretty decent. I won't say it's the best, having gone to Taiwan before, but still great to try, especially since some of the food takes time and effort to make. I recommend some Taiwanese dishes to try. Oyster omelette (蚵仔煎)- Very popular street food in Taiwan. Made with sweet potato starch, eggs, oysters, green vegetables. The texture is kind of soft and chewy like mochi. The sauce is this ketchupy, sweet sauce. One of my favorites. Stinky Tofu (臭豆腐) - Best street food ever. Sometimes they're fried, sometimes they're not. The ones at Lin's Palace are fried. It comes with pickled daikon radish and carrots. Could be more stinky in my opinion. Fried Pig intestines (炸豬腸)- not strictly Taiwanese but delicious nevertheless. Zha Jiang Mian (炸醬麵)- Noodles in ground meat made with soy bean sauce. Lu Rou Fan ( 滷肉飯)- Braised Minced pork over rice. Very standard and easy to make but I always like comparing the taste of how different people make it compared to how we make it at home Their vegetables are very fresh and grown in their own garden. I did try their chicken roll and it was okay. Probably wouldn't order it again though. One thing they did tell us is if we call ahead, we can request special dishes to be made. One of them was this Taiwanese dish called wa-guei or wanguo in Mandarin. I haven't tried this yet, but very tempted to see how their's will turn out to be. read more

Don't get sushi. I never tried it, but anybody can see that's not their forte. I honestly am not sure why they still have a sushi bar. If you want sushi, go to a Japanese restaurant. Order Taiwanese food, that's their specialty! Highlights: Taiwanese sausages, steamed whole fish, fried oysters, fried calamari, squid with ink and basil, soup with homemade fish-balls, chicken rolls (which are actually made of pork!), minced pork over rice. Their homegrown vegetables are simply delicious! (but beware vegetarians: they generally come dressed with chicken stock, or little dried shrimps, so if you want them meat/fish free tell them). Ask the owner for recommendations. The decor is perfectly fine: it's actually quite elegant in its sobriety. The service is super-friendly. The great thing about Lin's Palace is Mr. Lin himself! Never have I encountered a restauranteur with more enthusiasm and eagerness to please his customers. When we go there, we let Lin guide us when it comes to menu choices, and I will say that some of what he has brought to our table is not even on the menu. He is very friendly toward any customer who shows an interest. The food is great and his homemade Chinese sausage is his featured item. My boyfriend and I were excited to try Lins because we heard that it was authentic Chinese. When we walked in, it smelled like old, raw fish. Our meal started off with won ton and miso soup. My boyfriend and I both agree we've had much better - it tasted like water mixed with a few herbs. We then had fried dumplings which were typical of any Chinese take-out. For our meals, I ordered the sesame chicken and my boyfriend ordered General Tso's chicken. Again, we didn't think the food was anything special. It was good, but very typical of any other Chinese restaurant. Our bill came out to a little under $40. However if you know what to order you are in for a real treat. The owner and his wife and hopefully the waiter are very friendly and will give you suggestions if you seem like you are really interested in authentic taiwanese food and veggies. The owner grew some of the vegetables in his own backyard organicly, you have to ask for them. They will be the freshiest stir-fried veggie you've ever had. I second the reviewers below that the homemade Taiwanese sausage, the whole fish (you have to get them on thursday through the weekend for maximum freshness), and stinky toufu are pretty awesome. Let me start with we ate it but.....never have I ordered won ton soup and egg drop soup and not received noodles. The wontons would have been great if they had something in them. Boneless ribs were just some tasteless meat slices. Egg rolls were dripping with grease. Lowmain was just acceptable. Shrimp in lobster sauce were a few smallish shrimp swimming in a very watery mess. May not look like a lot from the outside and inside, but don't judge a book by its cover. Lin's is one of the very few "Chinese" restaurants that serve Taiwanese food! I have been coming here ever since I was in middle school almost 9 years ago. My sister's high school friend's parents actually own the place and they are such nice people. Whenever we go we actually never look at the menu! We just ask what is fresh and order whatever they suggest. It's always good! For my fellow Yelpers that are looking for the traditional take-out Chinese food, they have that as well, but you should try the Taiwanese! We always always get the Taiwanese sausage, which they also sell uncooked for you to take home! Bottom Line: Like my headline says, the place does not look the greatest before and after you walk in, but the food is great! If you're dropping by for pick-up park right outside of the restaurant in the no-parking zone and let the owner know, he will make sure you don't get towed! I will have to clear something up that my fellow Yelpers have said about the food. Yes, Lin's serves traditional Taiwanese cuisine, but that does not necessarily mean it's top notch and the same thing you would get at food carts in Taiwan. My boyfriend and I were attending a conference across the street from Lin's Palace at the Hyatt. When we arrived, we were debating if we should do take out or eat-in but because of the poor decor, lack of customers, and because we had to be back in a half hour, we decided to do take out. I ordered the chicken with string beans over white rice. It was mediocre. I've had better. An egg roll came with my lunch too and it was rather disgusting because I would find bits of black/grey-like pieces in my egg roll and couldn't tell if it was mushroom or something inedible. My boyfriend ordered the chicken with broccolli and his rice smelled odd . He wasn't too happy with the quality of the food even though it's a Chinese take-out restaurant. Our friend ordered food before us and he received a fortune cookie, but we didn't. Not sure what that's about.
