Paid a visit on tour schedule thanks to our stay at Hyatt Regency across the street. Very authentic Taiwanese food, love it. Wished our LA area could have such decent eats nearby. Only downside is dinner bill comes with a 15% surcharge, that is odd to us three as we are not a party or group in a sense. Service is non-existence which is on par with our local ones here. Since we are just an one off stop-byers no sweat here. On another note, I notice Morristown is a nice suburban town. Kudos to the food. read more

I've only ever ordered takeout from here but we do it all the time! The owners are incredibly friendly & sweet and always excited to see you. The food is so fabulous, they always get our order just right and ready in about 15 minutes. This is a place it's safe to get adventurous with what you order, we always try something new and it's never a disappointment. read more

I had a great lunch. The service was great. They had vegan food other than tofu. Was exceptionally good. I would recommend. Great for vegans. read more

Great authentic Taiwanese cuisine . its a great place to go in a big group. Family style and try many dishes

Best Taiwanese food in NJ/NY!! I live in New York City where you can find Taiwanese food easily in Flushing, but Chef Lin offers up his home-grown vegetables (including hard to find white bitter melon and luffa) and homemade Taiwanese sausage, Spanish mackerel in thick soup. The Yilan style fried pork was also great. Chef Lin also sells some of his signature foods at nearby Chinese language schools on a regular basis. read more

I love Lin's when I'm in town. Highly recommend their pork buns and the steamed dumplings as well as their taiwanese sausage dishes.

Tonight I ordered the sweet and sour combination meal with vegetable fried rice and a side order of crab Rangoon. Typically when I get sweet and sour chicken it comes deep fried with a side of sweet and sour sauce to dip the chicken in. Crab Rangoon is usually a mixture of cream cheese and crab meat wrapped in a wonton and deep fried. The combo meal came with a strange sweet and sour sauce that was mixed with the chicken, along with onions, carrots and pineapple. A very American version of sweet and sour chicken. The rice had pork in it and the crab Rangoon was very strange. It tasted like cheddar cheese in a fried wonton. I asked for a side of sweet and sour sauce to dip the crab Rangoon in. She went to the back to grab it, placed it in a to go coffee cup, and when I got home I realized it was duck sauce. Overall I was not very satisfied with my order. The chicken was soggy because the fried breading soaked in the sauce, there was pork in the veggie fried rice, the crab Rangoon was not good, and the side of sauce was not what I requested. I likely will not be going back. read more

Quiet little place that I get lunch at every once and a while, Never have left dissatisfied. Food is very good, soup is always fresh, I love the selection that they have at this place. Interestingly it says Taiwanese Cuisine, however I always order Chinese food there. read more

Things were just ok here. Nothing in particular stood out food-wise, though the service was decent.

Great Chinese food is very difficult to find in NNJ. This is the real thing. This is where local Chinese Americans come to eat Taiwanese cuisine. It's amazing. We enjoyed an Oyster Omelet in a Brown Sauce, Sautéed Calamari, and Oysters Baked with Ginger and Cilantro. Some of the best Chinese food I've enjoyed outside of Singapore, or San Francisco. This is a BYOB, which is great. The prices are extremely reasonable and the service prompt and friendly. Ask for what is fresh and recommended. Come willing to experiment and learn the joys of authentic Taiwan cuisine. read more

Nice owners and good steamed fish!! My wife is Taiwanese and I wanted to take her here. She was happy!

This is third time I have been here. They have good and genuine Taiwan food. Just try the Yansuji (chicken snacks) and sausage!

We ordered here for the first time based on the reviews, but the food had absolutely NO flavor! We ordered $60 of Chinese food and threw all the leftovers away. Horrible. Will not go back here. read more

I had the pleasure of living in Taipei for six months. With the exception of the Taiwanese chain Din Tai Feng, which has branches on the US West Coast, this is the closest I've found to real Taiwanese food in the US. Great food. Friendly service. read more

This is really one of the best Taiwanese restaurants in NYC metro I've been to. Waiters are very friendly. I even saw the owner/chef came out to say thank you to their regulars. As for the food, Taiwanese sausage is a must. None of the taiwanese/chinese restaurants I've tried from DC to Boston has this authentic taiwanese sausage. Be aware that all the dishes are not like roadside stall size. Their dishes are good for 3-4 persons. read more

5 stars for super fast service and even better food. I had the Sesame Chicken and Pork Fried Rice for lunch today. Simply amazing; i found my new lunch spot. I didnt take advantage of the lunch special price because I decided to dine-in. I'd recommend that place to anyone in Morristown who wants good And affordable Chinese cuisine. And its near the Green. read more

This is a fantastic place to eat. There is a large variety of Chinese, Vietnamese and Taiwanese dishes to select from. My wife and I had a difficult time choosing a meal as the menu selection was quite extensive. The food was very well prepared and served in a very timely manner. The meal portions were plentiful and tasty. As I was told, it is a family-owned restaurant. The family members we encountered were very friendly, patient, helpful and eager to serve with the best customer service. It's a small restaurant with a modest, cozy setting. Did I mention the food is fantastically awesome? read more

I love this place! Ask John Lin what fresh seafood they have or fresh vegetables. During the season some comes direct from his garden. Otherwise if you order off the menu it's just standard Chinese menu. He's got fantastic fresh seafood oysters, softshell crab, fresh fish, sometimes he catches the fish himself from the jersey shore the same day. Try the Taiwanese sausages. Don't be afraid of the eclectic Decor. If you order the catch of the day you will not be disappointed. read more

The food here was disappointing. The chicken was chewy and not good quality as well as the beef. Crab rangoons had no filling and egg rolls were in about an inch of oil and soaked with grease. read more

Authentic Taiwanese food. Freshest steam fish we had in a while! Home grown greens, home made Taiwanese sausage, plus friendly service!! They passed the test!! Will bring mom here, who's very selective of Chinese food! read more

Lin's is my favorite restaurant. Ever. About a year and a half ago, I was walking down the street with my roommate deciding what to get for dinner. We passed Lin's and decided to go in. I got some standard takeout Chinese dish and was satisfied, but not blown away by any means. About a month or two later we were, again, looking for somewhere to eat and stopped in again. We were eating our food when Mr. Lin brought us some Taiwanese sausage to try. It was amazing. After that I started going often. I always try to order something new and get recommendations from Mr. and Mrs. Lin. That is the key. Since I've been eating there, I've tried innumerable unfamiliar dishes. I've liked almost every one of them. Sometimes I'll go and Mr. Lin will bring me something new without me asking. I'd recommend asking what fish he has in. Mr. Lin often goes to New York to pick up fresh fish. Other than that, the Taiwanese sausage, pork roll, any of their vegetables (grown fresh in his own garden). Most of all, don't be afraid to try unfamiliar dishes and you will LOVE Lin's. read more

Relax. Have a good time. Go Taiwanese. Be adventurous. It's 'Lazy Susan' homey. The owner is a real local food personality. Let him order for you. My recommendations? The sweet (as in sweet - not the opposite of "hot") Chinese sausage, fried oysters (in season), the miscellaneous street foods, and simply served organic Chinese vegetables. From the outside it looks like a kitschy relic of 1960s Chinatown. A large, bee buzzing, retro-neon storefront sign welcomes you from the street. Okay, from the inside it looks like a kitschy relic of 1960s, too The night I stumbled upon Lin's there was a Chinese Elvis impersonator eating dinner with his family at a large round table. Lins' attempt to be hip or trendy? Nope. Chinese Elvis, I later learned, is a member of Lin's extended family. Did I mention they specialize in home style Taiwanese food?. Don't debate the issue. If you order the General Tso's chicken, you deserve the General Tso's chicken. The food is seasonal, often organic (from John's nearby garden, which he may invite you to visit), and much of it (if you wish) off-the-menu and market driven. Reading these reviews, you can tell who gets it, and who doesn't. Best food ever? No. but it is a great dining experience if you approach Lin's with the right attitude. Personally, I'd sooner go to little shack where the sweet sausage is made daily than a new school, lackluster linen table, CIA-trained chef, -investor funded business venture that serves food and has a front of the house, as opposed to an owner and his family greeting and serving you. You got to have heart. Lin's has lots of heart - and personality. Personally, I prefer the quirky places; small gems and little shacks, where the owner is excited about the food he serves, makes you feel - after your second visit -- like a member of his family. While there is no guarantee you will enjoy an Elvis sighting, if you go with the right attitude, you will be rewarded. Past and future reviewers . . . don't be cruel. I understand the suspicious minds. The place is a little kooky. But, it's always welcoming. BYOB read more

Awful. Dreadful. The salad was dripping with dressing. The miso soup tasted like water with industrial salt. And I had about 3-4 pieces of maki and threw it out and ordered elsewhere. read more

I so wanted to like this place but I was truly disappointed. The lunch specials were average at best and my Taiwanese Pork and Cabbage Soup was bland and uneventful. read more

By far the best Chinese cuisine we have ever had. If you like seafood with an Asian flare this is where you want to go. Ask for John, the owner, to steer you in the right direction. A fisherman in his native Taiwan, he knows his fish and his way around the New York fish market which he visits a couple of times a week. Everything he serves is fresh. Try the sushi and sashimi. We went crazy last night ordering several seafood dishes. One was better than the next. In addition to sashimi we had soft shell crab. Unbelievable. We had calamari that would make you make you forget the Italian version. We had escargot that had you craving for more. We had oysters on the half shell that were put under the broiler in a garlicky sauce that were cooked to perfection. And finally, we had a salmon dish that we wound up taking home because we were stuffed. A measure of Lin's success is that people, many Asian, come to this restaurant from as far away as NYC. read more

Visited Morristown for first time and stopped by Lin's for dinner. Owner recommended some of their popular Taiwanese dishes such as sausage and fish soup. They were quite authentic, just like the way they would be served back in Taiwan. We also had their bitter melon which are home grown and organic. The vegetables were really fresh and food is not greasy. The owner and his brother were very welcoming. We enjoyed a great meal. read more

So, let me start off by saying we were really gonna go here the night before this afternoon that we went, but my mom got bad vibes off the place since it was completely empty. Today however, we were running short on time, so we decided to go try it out. Pretty big mistake. They were very unspecific on what you got with your meals, and the service wasn't really that great. We called for our waitress 3 times and she ignored us until we finally got her attention. The food overall, in my and my mother's opinion, was quite bland. I ended up not even finishing because I simply didn't like it. When I originally ordered my meal I asked if they had plain fried rice, which typical Chinese restaurants do, but the waitress said they were too busy to make it for me so I settled for the pork fried. Never going here again, I can promise that. read more

Saw several reviews indicating that this is a good Taiwanese restaurant. Went there yesterday and order Taiwanese chicken roll and fish paste with rice noodle in thick sauce. Chicken roll was moist inside but no texture. Seems that all ingredients were finely blended together. My preference will be able to individually identify the ingredients. Containing no taro root in chicken roll, my favorite ingredient. Fish paste was good. The rice noodle was too coarse for my taste, though. read more

I ordered chicken with mixed veggies and fried dumplings. The dumplings were not good. The sauce was odd, the meat of the dumplings were over-seasoned, and the wrappings were paper-thin. The chicken with mixed veggies were only okay and the portion was smaller than expected. read more

Our office decided to order Chinese and from a different place than our norm, Cottage II. What a huge mistake. When we placed our order we were told that our food would be delivered within 45 minutes; it was delivered over an hour and a half later. That's not even the worst part! Once we got out food there were three meals missing from our order. We called Lin's to request the three meals that we had paid for to be delivered and they REFUSED!! When they refused to deliver the meals, we requested for the credit card they charged to be refunded and they REFUSED to do that too!! Needless to say they failed at the opportunity to make things right and lost an entire office worth of customers. Extremely disappointed how they would treat costumers. read more

The restaurant is in dire need of a renovation. Taiwanese menu is too expensive for what it is. The regular menu is unexceptional.

It took over 20 minutes to make a simple order over the phone that normally takes half the time if that. They then took over an hour to deliver our food when they told us it would only be a few minutes......I definitely do not recommend ordering from here if you want to eat relatively soon to when you placed your order. Your order also needs to be over $25 for delivery. The food itself is probably the best take out Chinese however bad service and small portions read more

I didn't expect to find great Taiwanese food in Morristown! Thick fish soup with a delicious scallion pancake hit the spot perfectly!

Authentic and healthy Chinese. Excellent homemade food. Definitely try the homemade sausages!

Ordered take out, and while the wait wasn't long the food was very disappointing. The vegetable egg rolls were doughy and only filled with cabbage. The general tso's chicken and the chicken with garlic sauce were awful, one too sweet and the other flavorless. Will not be ordering from here again.. the search for good Chinese food continues. read more

We have been eating here, alone or with friends, since we moved to town 25 years ago. We learned early on to let the owners order for us -- getting the Real Deal food -- rather than ordering off the Americanized menu. We have never been disappointed, and neither have our various friends. Most of them, when givin the choice of eating at any of Motown's man, many restaurants, always ask to go to Lin's. read more
