Minced pork rice, Taiwanese sausage
Ashley L.

My family and I are from Taiwan and this is the most authentic Taiwanese food we've had on the east coast!! The inside is very clean and the owner is super friendly - felt like home. I highly recommend the Taiwanese chicken roll, steamed fish, water spinach, and stir fry noodles. Definitely come here for a fantastic Taiwanese experience.

Tried this location because it was in walking distance from the hotel. It was definitely not my favorite food. The service was very nice and I do believe that was the owner that was super kind and very friendly to me while I was there. Their prices are very reasonable, but let's get into the food. I started with the crab Rangoon and I didn't like them. Not only did they lack in flavor, but they also seemed a bit oily. Next, I had fried chicken wings and they were just OK. They were fried too hard and I don't know how long the chicken had been sitting. I also had a shrimp spring roll and it was mostly vegetables and very little shrimp and again it tasted a little oily. For my main entree I had the happy family, which was supposed to be one of the chef's specialties and it was really lacking in flavor. I did not like the taste of the meat that was Inside... not the chicken, nor the shrimp or the beef. The best part of the entrée was the vegetables. Overall, I was really disappointed and I would not return.

Interior: simple and traditional - plenty of indoor tables Service: owners were very friendly and did not rush us to order when we were waiting for a friend and the food came out soon after we ordered. Chinese seems to be their first language but they are able to communicate in English as well. Food: we ordered the everything from the Taiwanese menu. Everything was tasty and authentic! We will come back to try other items on their menu. It is a quite extensive menu.

We got some take out on our way back to CT and enjoyed the food a few hours later. They held up so well and portion was very generous given the affordable prices. We also got a bag 1.25lb of frozen Taiwanese sausage to take home. Our 4 dishes with the frozen sausage came out to be around $55. We also got a pint of rice. Not sure if this is typically included or which dish it came with. We ordered off the Taiwanese menu. We tried the Taiwanese styled bamboo with pork strips. It has a very clean flavor and the bamboo was super fresh tasting (not canned). The flies' head dish which has bean curd was not as spicy as the version in Flushing's Beigang restaurant. It was very saucy and spilled when I took it out of the bag so be careful. This dish is perfect when enjoyed with rice. The chicken roll was flavorful and the sauce it came with was garlicky and very Taiwanese. It was very meaty and yummy. The Taiwanese sausage fried rice was filled with the sausage. They did not skimp! All in all, wish we live closer so we can enjoy authentic Taiwanese food more often.

Combination Platter: Chicken with Chinese vegetables, Pork Fried Rice, and Egg roll.

While attending several events at the Hyatt across the street, I have somehow never made it to Lin's Palace. Interior is very interesting, decorated with various vases, ships, and art. I was seated quickly, and the restaurant was semi-busy during my visit. Appears to be BYOB, but I would check before bringing a bottle. Menu was extensive as expected from a Chinese restaurant, but be aware this is not a sushi place, none is on the menu. Ordered the Combination Platter Chicken with Chinese vegetables. Came with various options for sides, I went with the Pork Fried Rice, no soup, and the egg roll. Soda is served in cans. Food was average, but the portion size was good, and it arrived quickly. Egg roll seemed to be mostly vegetables. Why I gave Lin's a higher rating was for one unique thing: Watching who I could only guess was Mr. Lin work the room. Checked on every table and chatted with the people, multiple times. Other employees also did it too in-between Lin's visits. It was a fun and interesting sight to see. Overall, for the experience it was cool. Food was ok, but perhaps a tad too expensive for any basic Chinese food orders.

Shredded beef with green pepper

I remember coming here with my mom as a kid and decided to stop by on a quiet Monday evening with my husband. The place is pretty much a hole in the wall and looks like it hasn't changed a bit since I last visited all those years ago. The place was empty and had a slight unappealing smell. Though the smell was offputting, I was willing to power through it in hopes of reviving some memories of good food. The staff was friendly and suggested sticking to the first few pages of the menu for the most authentic dishes. We ended up ordering scallion pancakes, Taiwanese sausage, beef noodle soup, and shredded beef with green pepper. All of it was delicious! The scallion pancakes were crispy on the outside and served with a familiar, sweet and salty sauce. The Taiwanese sausage was served with what seemed like the equivalent of an entire bulb of garlic, just like what you'd get at the nightmarket. The beef in the noodle soup was very tender and the soup was flavorful and not too salty. Lastly, the shredded beef with green pepper was intense but to my request, not terribly spicy. All in all, we enjoyed the food very much and would return.

This past summer Dao Madison was strongly recommended to me by a friend, so I decided to finally…read morecheck it out. I was told that there are often long waits, so I chose an evening where it was raining with some pretty heavy winds, hoping this would help me and my gf get in quickly. Fortunately, I was right! Dao Madison is located in in the same space that was once Ossino's Market and before that Empire Szechuan. The business is surrounded by a U shaped set of parking spots, but it's tight so go slow and ease into the spots carefully. While the exterior is largely the same as before, it is clear the folks at Dao reworked the interior. It is beautiful with a high ceiling, reserved decor and bright colors. I went during the evening but I can imagine sunlight pouring into the space during the day. We were seated very quickly and there was a huge group at the front waiting for to go orders, so this place definitely has fans! Even on a stormy night almost every table was full. The service was absolutely top notch. Within a minute after being seated we had water, tea and crispy noodles with mustard and duck sauce deployed to the table at rapid speed. I *love* the crispy noodles with duck sauce to this was absolutely delightful. Our waiter was enthusiastic, helpful and full of energy - quite a feat when you're serving table after table. I also have to say, it's incredible how quickly my water was constantly refilled. I never had to ask once. There are a lot of much more expensive restaurants that could learn from these folks! Okay, here's what we had: Chicken Corn Soup One of my favorite soups, but it's hard to find a good version. This was definitely one such example. Smooth, but filled with chicken and egg it was tasty and satisfying. Pro-tip: if you like a bit of a kick, put a bit of the Chinese mustard in and mix it in or alternatively use white pepper (which is on the table). Szechuan Vegetable Dumplings These dumplings are kind of like wontons and served in a beautifully savory and spicy sauce. I would get these again in a heartbeat. Cold Sesame Noodles Almost every take out place around makes cold sesame noodles, but few places make it *well*. Dao knocks this out of the park. Mix it up well and the spicy and savory sauces all come together to form an amazingly delicious dish. Mala Dry Pot (Chicken) This dish is served with a *dramatic* presentation in a small wok in a wood serving tray. This dish has a wonderful mixture of vegetables and meat with a wonderful base sauce. I comes across as a stir fry but I think it may be at least party steamed. This dish was delicious with a big variety of items to enjoy. Also worth nothing, you have a choice between white and *purple* rice at Dao. In general, purple rice is healthier than white rice so it was great to have the option. I am so happy I finally tried Dao Madison and I can't wait for my next visit!

It died down a little bit after 730 but still it gets quite good business. The chips you get when you sit down were a little stale. I don't really eat that stuff anyway. On the bright side, the sweet and sour sauce it came with was very good and the wasabi mustard had a huge kick. The soup dumplings were legit. As good as you will find in Edison. $12.25 for 6. A little bit pricier than Edison but you pay for the fact that you can have it in this area. The filet mignon with spicy pepper sauce was pretty good. Portion size is in the middle. Not too generous nor skimpy. It wasn't spicy. It came with delicious mushrooms and baby bok choy. The black pepper sauce was delicious. Similarly the pepper steak with onions was also mid on portion size and amount of meat they give you. It came with delicious chopped peppers and onions as well. Good flavor. Both of these steak dishes came with a complimentary bowl of rice. The pot of tea was also complimentary. It was pretty good tea. The service was great. Very friendly staff and they changed our plates after the soup dumpling appetizer. Sprite was only $2 and a bottle of san pelligrino $3. Good place with a strong loyal customer base. We will be back!

This leveled up my expectations on scallion pancakes omg they were so thin and crispy delicious!!! Definitely great service Im guessing it's the owner she had your order ready to go I work in pompton plains so I'll order right before I leave work and by the time I get to Parsippany the order is ready! I definitely want to go and dine in but I'm always in the Parsippany area after work But take out is a good enough for me. From just walking in the restaurant is so clean and organized. They have a video explaining the process of hand pulled noodles which is cool! I'm a nerd like that I love educational videos. Also you see where the chef is making everything too like a window to see when he makes the hand pulled noodles. Definitely recommend this place ! Ample parking and very easy to get too. If you want a nice comforting bowl of soup with hand pulled fresh noodles this is your place!!! Enjoy!!!! Note I put 2 pictures of my 1st order with them Stir fried noodles and braised beef hand pulled noodles soup yummy

The Chinese burger was deliciously seasoned and made on fresh bread. It tasted just like the ones I had in Xi'an. The dumplings had a nice flavorful pork and cabbage filling as well. The portion sizes were also great which is always a plus, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The standout for me was the Jiang Bei Hot Sauce Live Whole Fish, which was packed with flavor and absolutely worth ordering. You can split this dish amongst a whole family since the portions are huge! The General Tso's Chicken is always a classic, and I love the tender chicken drenched in tangy sauce. This is where things got a little tricky. We had a reservation but ended up waiting about 40 minutes past our reservation time to actually be seated. On a busy weekend, I understand restaurants can get slammed, but waiting 40 minutes after having a reservation is frustrating. It seems like their weekend reservation situation can get a little chaotic, so just be prepared to practice your patience. Once we were seated, the staff was fine and the service was efficient. Overall, I'll return for the food or get takeout but just be prepared to wait a bit.

Our family moved to Long Island, Suffolk County a few years ago and we truly miss authentic Asian food from Queens neighborhoods such as Bayside, Elmhurst and Flushing. We were thrilled when we landed on this hidden gem after moving to LI and found out this family moved their restaurant to Syosset, NY. If you are in the mood for Asian family-style meals, especially Taiwanese cuisine, we highly recommend Eatery 19 in Long Island.

***AUTHENTIC TAIWANESE STYLE CUISINE*** ***FRIENDLY…read moreWELCOMING SERVICE*** I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT You can't deny that New Yorkers love American style Chinese food. Look at any strip mall or shopping center, and it's almost guaranteed you'll find a Chinese take-out. Hell, if I had to guess, I'd say there are more than a thousand of these restaurants located in Nassau/Suffolk alone. Now Taiwanese food shares many similarities with authentic Chinese and American style Chinese. So if you're a fan of either of these, I'm sure you'll love what is being offered at a Taiwanese restaurant. So for me, it's hard to understand why there is only one Taiwanese restaurant offering a full size menu in all of Nassau and Suffolk counties combined. I mean, there's Mama Chan's, a restaurant / bar in Northport, that looks really interesting - but their 3/4 page menu of appetizers and entrees barely scratches an itch. And before Eatery 19 opened around five years ago, one would have to shlep all-the-way to Queens or Brooklyn from Long Island. Oy vey! GOOD GENES A full service authentic Taiwanese restaurant can't just magically materialize. And as it happens, the owners here are related to the family running Nan Bei Ho - one of the many popular Taiwanese restaurants in Bayside. But even with this lineage, Eatery 19 had a bit of a rough start, with a head chef that wasn't the most talented, and early reviews reflected this point. But not long after, a new chef took over the kitchen, and the cuisine has been maximally upgraded since. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE I can't imagine someone not being able to find something they really enjoy on this fairly comprehensive menu, even if you're a Taiwanese food novice. There's a nice selection of Taiwanese street food appetizers such as popcorn chicken, oyster pancake, Taiwanese sausage, cold dishes, and a not-so-smelly fried stinky tofu. If spicy is your thing, there are great versions of shredded beef or pork with spicy green peppers, spicy diced chicken, shrimp or squid in spicy pepper sauce, and chef's special beef or fish filet in chili oil. And there are some pretty good kung pao dishes if that's your jammy. Interestingly enough, they don't serve fly heads (cang ying tou) here, but they have a fantastic spicy minced pork with dried tofu cubes dish as a consolation prize. On the non spicy front, there are a plethora of items, so I'll just mention some of the ones I've enjoyed. Starting off, I have to call it! Eatery 19 makes my all time favorite version of the famous Taiwanese three cup chicken. It's saucy and savory, with tender boneless chicken & lots of basil. Unquestionably, It's the best I've ever had - and I order this everywhere. In addition, a great seafood option is the perfectly fried & delicious salt and pepper fish filets. And I also need to mention that the chef here makes fantastic fried rice, with tons of wok hei and fresh ingredients - just give the egg and scallion fried rice a try and you'll see. In addition, the fried rice with Taiwanese sausage comes in a close second. Looking for even more tasty carbs? The Taiwanese stir fried rice noodles with their unique flavor is a solid choice. And if you're craving soup noodles, there's a solid braised beef noodle soup available daily. NOT JUST FOR DINNER Eatery 19 is a fantastic resource for grabbing a quick tasty lunch, with a large assortment of over rice dishes. and two Taiwanese railroad bentos with choice of pork chop or chicken leg, being served with braised pork rice, cabbage, pickled vegetables, marinated egg, and Taiwanese sausage. LUCKY TO HAVE THIS Look, Eatery 19 may not be a contender on the list of top Taiwanese restaurants in New York. And it' features a plain looking interior with half-way descent service. But taking all this into account, Long Islanders, are still quite lucky to experience this cuisine close to home. And to be honest, I feel privileged each time I visit this interesting authentic eatery.
