The Crowds Loved It - We Did Not We visited on a Tuesday evening at about 5:30. This is a very large stand alone restaurant with ample parking on all side of the building. We were here to try out their buffet and eat in, carry out is available. You enter into a welcoming room adorned with large size oriental wall decor with seating if you need to wait and the payment counter. The host at the counter takes your payment and escorts you to a table, or you wait until called. The adult cost for dinner is $15.89 and seniors get a 10% discount. Any drink except water is an additional $2.98. On our visit we were seated immediately while some others were waiting. The dining room is huge and there had to be over a hundred diners there. The buffet area is also huge with many islands. All of the standard buffet items, salads, fruits, soups, deserts, oriental and american dishes, seafood including cold and hot shrimp, baked and fried fish, crawfish, and a variety of vegetables. Setting this place apart from other buffets is the addition of a sushi bar, a Mongolian grill and a steak grill. The sushi bar is primarily California type rolls with veggies, cream cheese, american cheese, krab, chopped krab, etc. I did see some butter flied boiled shrimp atop rice rolls, but you won't find high end sushi on this bar. The Mongolian grill area lets diners select from a variety of ingredients and sauces and the grill master prepares your dish on a large circular flat top 'grill'. In the steak area, they will grill a steak for you. We never saw anyone get a steak or order at the Mongolian grill so I can't say any more about them. Now for our dining experience. Even though there were so many diners, the buffet island area is so large and well spaced out that it didn't feel crowded as we wandered around trying to decide what to try. So many good looking items made it difficult to decide. We brought our selections back to the table and started our taste travel. I tried the Hot 'N Sour soup. It was piping hot, sour and a little zippy spice wise with the usual soup veggies and tofu in a beef broth. This soup was ok. I've had better, but that could also be a personal preference. In general, we found the majority of the dishes lacked flavor and were room temperature which is surprising as they are constantly refilling the food trays. And I'm not joking about the food temps. I don't understand how food could not be hot when there's steam rising around the buffet pans, but they were. I even dug down into the pans to take food from below and it was lukewarm at best. So, what was good? I particularly like the baked swai fish which was mild and seasoned perfectly, fried chicken wings, pork egg rolls, pork dumplings, cheese wontons, fried butter flied shrimp, and butter clams. Not so good? Cheese enchiladas looked so incredibly delicious, but were COLD. A real good flavor, but COLD! The green beans and the chicken, shrimp, zucchini mix had no flavor. There was no buffalo to the buffalo chicken wings. The beef and broccoli had some flavor, but very little beef in the mix. We made several trips to the buffet islands to try many items and overall, my wife and I ended up feeling disappointed with Lin's. We travel a great deal and enjoy oriental buffets. So it's Mother's Day and I had to say something. First off, they raised their prices for big parties (I.e. parties 5 or more pay like $2 more a person and it goes up every group of 4/5 or so. Why? Then you cannot just pay for your group and arrive early to ensure seating nope. They'll make sure ever PAID person has arrived (they'll make sure you paid before seating you). Then the attitude with why they're doing what they're doing. Way to capitalize on seating and a special day! Never been to the buffet, but hopefully I can update just about the food.....paid at 11:01 and it's 11:35....still waiting (I'm waiting for SpongeBob segment of 3 hours later). Definitely not a place for large parties (even with plenty of seating) and special days (like Mother's Day) seeing they increase prices. I hope the food is worth it. Stay tuned. I've been here several times and I now know the best time to go is Mondays right when they open at 11:00 AM. It was so quiet and all the food was so fresh and hot plus the weekday price is much better than the weekend, about $12 a person. It was almost like we had the place to ourselves. I'm just sad that I've only ever been able to complete three plates. I just can't seem to consume anything past that lol. They have delicious crab Rangoon, two types or fried noodles, fried zucchini, fried plantains, egg rolls, sushi, a hibachi grill and a ton more. They also have very reasonable prices for carry out options. I think it was $6-$7 for a styrofoam container you can fill with whatever you want. Probably the best Chinese buffet in Tucson. The key here is to get HOT food by waiting for them to refill the food containers so you know it's hot & fresh. Soups,rice,lo mein,mei fun, string beans, spare ribs are all very flavorful. The grill in the back is ideal because you pick what you want and they cook it right in front of you. We went here one time after going to the Tanque Verde swap meet because I had heard great things about this place. The restaurant itself is very well lit and spacious with a variety of food to choose from. Just a few things that I found displeasing or upsetting is that they could not keep the white rice filled up I never got a chance to have any and even though it was a busy evening even the stuff coming out to the buffet didn't seem hot. The taste of the food itself was very good and the service was mediocre could've kept up with taking the dirty dishes and keeping the drinks filled a little bit better. Heard a lot of good things about Lins. We finally made it out here and think we made a mistake coming on a Saturday during lunch rush. The building, staff, and food would make this a solid 4 star most likely (I will return to give it another chance). We were seated fast and our table was clean. While making my first visit around to see the buffet options, I came across the cooled desert area were a kid was under the snot shield playing on his phone "cooling down" as he said. I pointed it out to a few employees that he was hanging out under there for the past 5 mins. None of them wanted to say something to him about the food safety hazard he was creating by sweating overtop the desert bar under the snot guard. I asked him to get out and he left to complain to his mom. There were also 3 or 4 kids wrestling on the floor and almost knocked an older lady over, no staff said anything. The Chinese food assortment was great, fresh, and full. The American food assortment was plentiful enough to accommodate even the pickiest of children lol. The Mongolian grill and steak grill were very nice as well. My wife loved the sushi and seafood assortment. And the deserts looked great but after "sweat boy" hung out over them we avoided the treats. Now the reason I dropped it to a 3 star, the bathrooms were horrible. My wife had to clean her seat and sink before using either. The mens room was trashed and urine on seats, broken urine filled urinals, trash on the floor, and dirty sinks. Usable.....but only gas station level clean, don't touch what you don't have too and use AFTER eating. My hubs is obsessed with buffet's, me not so much but I do love Chinese so we stopped into Lin's. The place was popping on a Sunday lunch time so I assumed it had to be pretty good. The place is huge, and the selection bountiful. Besides the standard Chinese dishes, they had a salad bar, American options, Sushi and Mongolian stir fry. The food was pretty good. I did find the Orange Chicken to be really tough, almost unchewable. But when you have this many options you just move on to something different. Given the price, you really can't lose as I believe we paid roughly $12 a piece. The only drawback for me was that I had a tough time getting my water refilled despite all the people that worked there walking around. A solid OK if you buffets are your jam. read more

This was a very disappointing lunch. A total waste of money. Food was dry and basically tasteless except for items slathered with sauces. The orange chicken was so overdone it could have been anything who would not know. We requested a booth and the table wobbled so bad and you couldn't level it as it was the tabletop attachment to the base. The line was long because th cashier was also the hostess. She continued to seat patrons at that same table and we're asking to be moved. The ice cream had been melted and refrozen and was freezer burned. Disgusting. iIt goes without saying we surely won't ever go back and will share our terrible experience with our friends and family. This is a great place to go if you want to just chill with a friend and have a buffet style lunch. I love that they have sushi and hibachi, although I do wish there was more variety in their rolls. 85% of them are California rolls with different garnish, but still a nice display. The food can be hit or miss, but there is a great selection and they even have seafood out for their lunch buffet. Most complaints on here seem to be about price, but honestly the price is VERY reasonable. read more

I used to enjoy visiting the same restaurant in Phoenix and we were happy to try it here in Tucson. My guy and I went here months before Covid 19 and it was fine. Just having visited recently I has feeling it might have changed. It has . Sure, it's open but with precautions some stations and food are gone. The station in back where you can have your chow mein created is closed, the sushi bar has limited selection . Most of the meatless selections I used to enjoy aremissing but I was able to find other items to eat. My guy found the shrimp he loves. The whole experience was just so so. I know businesses have had to change and that's fine, but this place decided for some reason to use too much salt in all the dishes. Both of us were dying from thirst when we left.His blood pressure went up, not a pretty sight to see him not feeling well. This is going to be a hard pass for us on returning. read more

This restaurant is heavily understaffed. The line was pretty long for when it opened. They make you pay before you eat. The same person who you pay takes you to your table to eat. With one person doing the cashier and escorting to tables, the whole process took forever. The food tasted OK. Several food items tasted great, but is heavily over cooked so it was chewy and hard. Not impressed and I really wanted to be! My Mongolian BBQ bowl sat on the grill while the cook went in back for 6 minutes and dumped a ton of water on the meat and noodles to try and bring life back to it and then served it to me. We also asked for a steak and the grilled left crumbs and burned chunks all over the steak from Not being scraped and cleaned between use or ever. 6 items on the buffet line were empty. Not even wanna give out 1 stars at all!! I ended up having dinner at this place just because I was in the city for the trade show. First things first - the food is fantastic, no complaints there! However, what really bothered me was the front desk, cashier, and host. I hardly noticed a small sign indicating that the senior price is for individuals aged 62 and above. So, at the time of payment for three people, I asked the lady if I could get a refund and then pay again for 2 adults and 1 senior. Guess what! The lady insisted that it's already been charged. I tried explaining that there was no sign indicating no refunds, and I wasn't looking for a refund but just wanted to pay with the senior discount. She insisted three times and didn't want to make the adjustment, all with a less than pleasant attitude. To add to it, she seated us in a very cramped space when there was plenty of room on the other side. She seemed indifferent and didn't care at all! Pros: Clean, Customers we're required to use gloves and a mask while self serving food. Cons: The food lacked flavor, in the past the food had bold flavors and was what I think of when I crave sauté mushrooms and beef n broccoli. So glad we went for the first time again in over a year and a half last week. We were horribly disappointed in past with all the C19 "protocols" with plastic & paper utensils etc. and sub-par food. They have gone back to regular utensils & dishes and a fully loaded buffet finally! We were pleasantly surprised we took another shot at them after so long. They always used to be our favorite, and now they almost are back there again. There are some things they have cut from the menu we missed on our visit including crab legs & baby octopus. I come here alone almost every night once a year when I attend the Tucson Gem Show in February for a week. This year February 2020, the 22nd St Golden Corral is closed due to fire and remodeling. I eating weekday dinner for $12.93 senior price including tax, and water. Place is clean and servers are attentive. The fried foods such as chicken wings, fried Alaskan Pollock, fried shrimp, fried zucchini are all pretty good. I like the steak cos it is charbroiled, but you must eat it rare otherwise it your jaw will be exhausted in 4 chews. This is low grade steak, full of veins, gristle, and oingy boingys. We used to eat here quite often before the plague hit and we were always pleased. We are just starting to venture out to buffets again so we decided to grab some tasty food at Grand Buffet on a weeknight. Perhaps eating here on a weeknight was our first mistake of the night. Our second mistake was coming here at all. Most of the food just seemed...off. Not spoiled or anything, just not good. Most chicken dishes were dry and seemed to consist of mostly breading and very little chicken. The egg rolls had a weird, mushy texture inside. Most food was lukewarm. I was scared to try the Mongolian BBQ because the meat was swimming in juices, which means it thawed completely and had been sitting there a while. It just seems like the price went way up and the quality went way down. For $55 for three people (that included 2 sodas and a water), I expected better. We will not be returning. read more

Quite a surprise for me who frequents many of these types of establishments. This was a bit different. They seem to take food safety and the pandemic seriously. You pay before you enter. Fair enough. Don't want anyone walking out without paying, especially after they've eaten enough food for a day or more. They require you wear a mask when you're not eating. When you arrive at the buffet area, you're required to wear your mask and plastic glove they provide. Also, plates are paper and arranged by the buffet like a pyramid. They didn't have the peel & eat shrimp I always like, but did have very good cooked food. They also have sushi and a mongolian grill which I didn't try---- except for a couple of sushi pieces. Five star review for a buffet is insane, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due. If it was a "normal" restaurant with menus I definitely wouldn't give it a 5. But as a buffet, it's great. I'm in town for work and tried out Lins because it's close to my hotel. Food was plentiful, hot, and delicious! Service was just fine, but it's a buffet. That's the norm at best. Lins was so good I actually went back again the next day. The food replenishment wasn't as good the next day, but I did go closer to closing time. I don't fault them for not making a new large serving of numerous items for a small amount of remaining customers. Super surprised and impressed with the delicious food at Lins! read more
