Go here to drink, not to eat. The only good thing about this place is cold drinks for a good price. The service was horrible, the food was near inedible. I had a steak and onion rings. Steak was 3/8" thick and completely tasteless. No seasoning on it at all. The onion rings were okay at best. My wife had a taco salad. The lettuce was so wet that the taco shell was soggy by the time it got to us. And it came with no dressing at all? Also, she barely made it home before she got sick and it all came up, so there's that. One of the worst restaurants we have ever been to. read more

Lindys obviously has a new cook. I have been patronizing Lindy's for years and the last few visits have been very disappointing. Had to send back the wings order twice before they cooked the unbreaded. Today the Reuben was chunks of pastrami not sliced and the onion rings appeared to have said under the heat lamp as they were very chewy and greasy. Definitely not the old Lindy's!!! read more

We went to the Lounge side on a Monday night after traveling. It's within walking distance to our hotel, Springhill Suites. Very convenient. It was not very busy, a few guys watching the basketball ball game. Our server Cassie was attentive, friendly & very professional. She offered suggestions & checked on us often. My husband had what he said was the best ribeye steak, done perfectly, served with salad, perfectly steamed vegetable & baked potato. I had the shrimp cocktail, delicious shrimp but too much cocktail sauce for my taste. I also had the chicken Caesar salad which was also delicious. We bought a bottle of wine because we could take it back to our hotel room with us . We're planning to go back again before we head back home but we recommend giving Lindy's a try. Been coming to this restaurant for years. We have a multi-group who once a week about 10 to 15 of us pick a restaurant to go eat after hanging out together. We have come here several times as a group, the last time was about 6 or 8 months ago. This time we show up and we had a party of 11, which grew to 14. There was a (new!) sign on the door that says they do not accept parties of 8 or more without advance notice. How much advance notice. We do not know. We had 2 people show up about 30 minutes before the rest of us and asked for a table of 11. They accommodated but the waitress said she would probably get in trouble since it was over 8. So apparently you need more than 30 minutes notice. Unknown how much notice you need to satisfy that policy. After we all sat down the waitress stated that parties of 8 or more MUST pay on one check. We were a party of about 7 couples. That immediately became a problem because none of us were prepared for that. That was not the policy the several times we had come here for years before. We were told that the restaurant had an ATM. The restaurant gets a cut from the ATM fees. It was extremely inconvenient to force 7 couples to pay for one ticket. It should be noted that this was on a Tuesday night. Besides our party... there were literally 3 other tables that had people sitting down. Their restaurant is large and has dozens of tables. They were NOT busy. And, they charged 20% gratuity for the party. We all had full dinners and at least 2 alcoholic drinks apiece. Our bill was large. All 7 couples agree, together or individually... we won't be back. Bad policies lead to bad business and bad press. "The manager" was not available. However we were told by the bar tender that our waitress was actually the owner. She did not disclose that to us herself, Bad on her. She couldn't man up to her bad policy when we brought it up and blamed it on "they (management). On a side note the food was decent. Too bad, they lost a lot of business with this bad policy. They were not that busy they could have accommodated us. Add insult to injury, their ATM had problems and one of party asked for $80 from the ATM and he only got $20 (plus a $3 service fee). Bye, Lyndy's. It was fun while it lasted. But your descent food is not worth your bad changes. Every bad review equals 10 lost lifetime customers. You lost a lot of business this night. read more

My first time trying Finger Steaks. As expected, they had the coating of chicken strips, battered, deep fried and seasoned. But, obviously steak inside not chicken. They were a little chewy, but I enjoyed it to the last bite. Ketchup was good alongside, but their fry sauce was even better with the Finger Steak and fries. Good food experience, but an overload of fried food. This bar/restaurant is in a strip mall-type space in Northwest Boise. Looks like an old staple in Meridian on Chinden. Definitely a hangout for locals. Fully stocked bar with about 10 beer taps. I had the cod samminch with side salad. All toppings, lettuce, maters, red onion and pickle come on the side, along with a small cup of tartar sauce. I like the idea of doing my own toppings. The homemade honey mustard dressing for the salad was great. The squeeze had finger steaks with fries, a dish that has to be tried. Carrie, our server, did a great job. read more

It's been years since I was at Lindy's, back when I worked at Hewlett Packard we would frequently visit. A group of us also played darts of there. Anyway, walking in it was a flash back, the place hasn't changed much at all. The dart boards are gone, from what I saw, and I swear the bartender/manager was the same guy that was there way back in the day. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip w/fries, my wife ordered the Potato Skins and her friend the Chicken Strips w/fries. Mine was good, wife's potato skin was a huge portion, the Chicken Strips looked quite good also. Service was great as were the prices, especially for the size of the portions. The beer was ice cold, good for Coors Light, but for a good micro brew I prefer it not to be that ice cold, Just my preference. I can't speak for the restaraunt side, since I've never been in there. Overall I was satisfied with what I expected, decent bar food (which can be hit or miss), bar atmosphere. Defiantly was an older crowd, like me (75). I would go back. read more

Just checking in Boise as it's been awhile since I have reviewed Lindy's. Since my last review several years ago I have been back half a dozen times, always during the week for lunch. Service is still fantastic, food is excellent, and prices still reasonable. Had to check in on the wings, boy oh boy... still delicious. Wednesday the lunch special is fried chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy and my inner fatty can't get enough! I brought it to the staff's attention, and the response was underwhelming at best. For a place that prides itself on quality, this experience was anything but. Tonight was a lazy dinner night so we ordered some goodies to go from Lindy's. Lindy's is known for their finger steaks so of course we had to order some. The dinner came with a side of clam chowder and a baked potato. We got 5 hearty pieces of steak. They were tender and perfectly seasoned. We did put them in the air fryer for a minute. The ride home caused them to sog up a bit. They came out perfectly! The baked potato was good. The clam chowder was full of potatoes and clams. Very tasty! We also did order a couple pieces of bar shrimp. They were huge pieces of shrimp! They were perfectly fried. 2 huge slices of lemon and cocktail sauce came with it. The fresh lemon juice and cocktail sauce was the perfect addition to the bar shrimp. Service was great! That gal that helped me was really nice and everything came out fresh. If you're looking for some good ass finger steaks, Lindy's is the joint to hit up! read more

There are no signs or podium so you're left standing in the doorway unsure if someone is even supposed to seat you or you seat yourself. I normally order the fantastic finger steaks, but for the first time I ordered prime rib! I ordered the 8 oz. and was surprised when a huge slab of prime rib was served! I told the server to please tell the chef that this was the most melt in your mouth prime rib I've ever had! I could only finish half of it, because the salad, fresh bread, side of veggies and huge amount of onion rings was a lot of food!!! I will always head to Lindys if I'm in the mood for prime rib! They then told us it would be a while, in a pretty antagonistic way, and proceeded to not even take a drink order for 15 minutes. Mind you the place ain't crowded. So we left. Lindy's Steak House is a great place for traditional blue collar meals in a bar atmosphere. Not your style? Bummer for you. Every day, all day they have $4 beers served in icy cold mugs. These are not short pours or childish, candy-flavored "local craft" beers served at places popular with the frivolous foodie crowd. This is real value, something that is missing in the many places who chase business with ads, glitz and contemporary social media "influencers." Every day, all day, they serve $3 wells that are not short pours. When I get their Bloody Mary at $3.25, it counts as a daily serving of vegetables. The bartenders and waitresses are some of the friendliest and fun folk around the Valley. It is clear from the regulars who fill the place every day, that this is a comfort zone with engaging, personable staff. Plenty of TV's on the walls, game machines, pool table and a jukebox playing a mix of country & rock keeps the bar area busy. The daily lunch specials are popular as are the daily dinner specials. Later in the evening, the restaurant dining room in the back part of the building opens for a quieter environment. Today started with a Shock Top for the Mrs. and an 805 for me served in frozen mugs. The bartender was joking with us when I asked if they had any imported beers on tap and I got the response: "805 is from California." 'Nuff said. We got the fish and chips, the Rueben sandwich and some of their 85 cent wings. The wings were gigantic, tender & juicy in the middle and nicely crispy on the outside - a 10 out of 10. The fish was lightly battered and also nicely cooked with plenty of fries. The Rueben was a well-constructed meal. Lots of tender meat, covered in gooey, melted Swiss cheese, along with yummy sauerkraut, dressed with Thousand Island, all parked between two large slices of marbled rye and served with lots of perfectly cooked fries. While some places in the Treasure Valley would have made any or all of these dishes with loads of oil & greasiness - not the case here. Someone in this kitchen has skill. All of this food for $25 made lunch a real value proposition. On previous occasions, we have tried their steak sandwich and finger steaks. Both were excellent and we agree with their claim that they have the best finger steaks in the Valley. We have tried a number of other places and have been turned off by what passes as finger steaks in some establishments. Highly recommended. read more

We left after a confrontation with the sever. She sat us after explaining we would have to wait for a while for our food. She never got our drink order, it was about 10/15 min before I "in front of the entire dining room" which only consisted of a few tables said " You aren't going to serve us are you" and she smugly said, you will just have to wait...So I said I was going to speak to the manager, and left He called me back after I left a couple messages, he was unapologetic and had the audacity to blame me based on the server's testimony ...It was the worst experience hands down I have ever had at a restaurant. In the past it's been a fun place to play shuffleboard, now it's just full of grab ass old people that obviously go there daily. You walk in they all stare at you like you walked into there living room as intruder. Then I won't give you all the things that bartender is, but he's consistent, I'll give him that. Consistent in not getting you a drink until his buddies drinks. They won't even be asking, he sees you standing there he will go around and ask them if they a drink, then slumberly walk over to you and with such great customer asks you what you want. Don't ask for a special drink (that is not hard to make). Everyone will roll their eyes, don't get me started if you want to eat in the bar area. The bartender is your server. The second you ask for a menu which you stand in line to get, because he doesn't want you to order food. He has to come out from behind the bar. It's a horrible rushed, cold experience. So if you go there, go everyday for a month and maybe just maybe they will except you to their flock. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a while, and now I'm disappointed that we didn't go sooner! The service and food was fantastic, and we were pleased to see the owner is there! Additionally, he was greeting customers at their table! The portions of their meals are huge. I kept seeing all these delicious plates of food going pass me. My husband ordered the Lindy's Burgar which he said was worth the additional wait time...even though it came to the table in the same time as other restraunts in comparison. He only was able to finish half of the Burgar. It was really a unique Burgar! I kept eyeballing the table next to ours, for they had wings. After inquiring with them about the wings, they told be how darn good they are....so that's what I got. We also ordered side salads the salad was cold and crisp. Their blue cheese, ranch, and thousand island dressings are so good, and made in house. We will be returning, for it was visually obvious that one can't go wrong with anything ordered. They are known for having the best steak fries, and I seen a lot of them going pass our table. The owner says he cooks their own corn beef there too. Went here late on a Monday night and I was the only customer on the restaurant side. Waitress said that they had only recently opened that side back up and that most folks didn't know it was even open yet. Didn't see the bar side, but there seemed to be a decent number of folks over there from what I heard. Apparently the menu is the same on both sides too, so it doesn't really make a difference which one you sit in. I am assuming that the decor is similar for both. Somewhat dated furnishings, but that doesn't discourage me in the least. Asked the waitress what was good and she recommended the finger steaks. For those that are traveling thru, the best way to describe them is chicken fingers that are made from beef instead of chicken. Apparently Lindy's is famous for them. They weren't bad, but I didn't enjoy them. I prefer my steak to be in a slab of meat form I guess. I got the dinner portion which included soup (black bean or chowder), salad, finger steaks and fries. The chowder wasn't bad. Salad had lettuce, sunflower kernels, a couple of pepperoncini peppers and dressing, which was decent albeit a ln odd combination. Fries were okay, nothing to really comment on. Finger steaks were not something that I would order again, here or anywhere for that matter. I also ordered the fried mushrooms. I really wanted to like them, but there was too much seasoning on them. Even with a side of ranch the seasoning was overpowering and hard to handle. Waitress said there was a new chef in the back, so maybe that had something to do with it? Waitress was good. Service was good. Food wasn't bad, but nothing outstanding. The worst meals we ever had. Bought the steak sandwich, the steak was too chewy. It was supposed to come in a roll but they forgot the top half of the bread. The onion rings were disgusting and burnt. The finger steaks were way to salty and way over cooked. Both meals came with side salads, I kid you not, it was all iceberg lettuce and brown and rotting. Also the ketchup they sent with the meals was sour/spoiled. With tip I paid over $55.00. if I would have known about the lousy quality of the food, I would have avoided this place. That's my recommendation to anyone looking to go there for dinner. We were staying in the hotel next door, so the orders were to go. We opened the meals 5 minutes after receiving them. Terrible experience. Unless you're just looking for drinks and bar food, go elsewhere. My father was a fan of the place years ago and asked that following his funeral the family go and enjoy a meal in his honor. My mom went there a couple of days before to meet with Bob, who we assume was the manager to let him know the size of our party (9) and ensure they could handle us. We were asked to place our orders beforehand, and we placed all of our orders more than 24 hours ahead of time. The food was awful and we suspect at least some of it was cooked ahead of time and left drying out in a warming oven. The two orders of Parmesan Halibut were so dry they could barely be cut through with a steak knife. The mixed veggies were mushy, dry, and overcooked. The salads contained no other vegetables but chopped lettuce. The ribs were wildly overcooked and dry to the point of being nearly inedible. The ribeye steaks were cooked to order but were fatty and grisly. Not a single person finished even half of their food. The "bar food" appetizers (onion rings, mushrooms, potato skins, etc.) were freshly cooked and tasty. The service was rushed and inconsiderate. The same person who took our order (again because we did give them our order days ahead of time) brought the food out and had to ask who got what. Water pitchers placed on the table and emptied before the appetizers were done were never refilled or cleared despite there being a constant lack of space on the table. Salads were brought out before the appetizers were finished and entrees were brought out before anyone had taken more than three bites of salad. We were never asked if we wanted any refills of our beverages and had to ask the waitress to please clear plates when she brought out the next course, leaving diners to stack and shuffle them around awkwardly to accommodate what was in her hands. We were the only ones in the restaurant portion of the establishment. A party of two came in well after we placed our order. We tried to make the best of the evening to honor my father but the sad fact is that he was once a loyal customer who would have been deeply disappointed by the way his family was treated on the eve of his funeral. My mom has far too much grace to have raised a stink about it at the time, but folks should know. Don't make the same mistake we did and trust them with a good meal or a good memory. I was anticipating eating their Finger Steaks. I was disappointed. When I cut into the first one - blood ran out. It needed to be cooked longer. The onion rings were awful. It wasn't until after I ate a couple that I was informed they had mixed beer in the batter. The restaurant menu doesn't inform people of the alcohol used in it. The food was excellent! There were three of us. The Patty Melt was probably the best I've ever had. The same for the Fish and Chips and Finger Steaks ordered by the party. The service was awesome as well. We seated ourselves and the server was right there without delay. She took our order and the drinks and food arrived quickly and done to perfection. So I will start off by saying Lindy's is half steak house and half bar and I have only been to the bar half. The food menu is very limited on the bar side (due to staffing shortage currently.) The drinks are made strong and well. The staff is very friendly but the service can be kinda slow, if not forgetful of your drink entirely. The food is your standard greasy bar food but hits the spot. The atmosphere is loud and boisterous. There is a shuffle board, pool and other games to play. They have a jukebox which is awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. It's not upscale by any means. It feels more like a bar with really good food. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. The place was busy. The poor woman working out front could have used some help to be honest but she was doing a good job managing it all alone. She kept our drinks full which certainly speaks volumes when a place is busy. We were a bit disappointed that you can't get steaks at lunch. You could get Finger Steaks, prime rib dip, grilled steak strips or a steak sandwich but not a regular steak. I ordered the steak sandwich with a salad on the side. Steak sandwich is served open face on a French roll. It had beautiful grill marks and was cooked as ordered. Salad was crisp. No complaints except it could have been seasoned more. Husband had the finger steaks and fries. He loved them both. This is a casual place, where you come when you aren't in a hurry. So many places you eat and they hurry you along to seat the next diner. First night in town and right across the hotel parking lot so decided to give it a try. Service was a little slow and it was not very busy but we didn't mind. Was debating on ordering an app; however, by the looks of the other customers entrees they were huge and decided against it. I ordered the grilled halibut with baked potato and veggies which also came with soup or salad & I chose the salad. Halibut is my favorite fish and it was grilled perfectly. My BFF ordered the sirloin steak with baked potato and veggies and he had the black bean soup. He claimed that his food was bland but I tried his steak and I thought it had a very good flavor and grilled perfectly. We ordered a couple of the house cabs and they are a good price at 4.00/ea; however, they were very bitter and you could tell that they were of a lower quality but luckily I did not get a headache the next day. The steaks were tough and tasteless, the halibut was overcooked, the clam chowder was lukewarm and the service was poor. There were few diners for a Friday evening which should have been a tip-off, yet we were not given napkins or tableware until we requested it and then one of us got a paper napkin and the other cloth. The waitress never asked how the food was or if we needed anything. Won't be coming back. read more
