So I bought this suit from Macy the other day ( don't buy your suit there, its not that great) needed alteration for my jacket. I was a 38Short but had some issues with the fit of my jacket between shoulders and chest. I had to purchased the 40R instead. Anyhow, I brought it to Linda, she was friendly and knows what she was doing. However, when I came to pick up my coat after the alteration, I was so in a rush that I didn't get a chance to observe my coat. Had to come back and re-size my coat...it was kinda funny, awkward interesting when i went back there. I was working with Linda to adjust the size and possibility of my coat and suddenly about 5 other people came in and tried to help ( I guess its a vietnamese thing) but they were talking in vietnamese and pinning my coat. I get it, they were all being nice. But over all I would recommend Linda's Tailoring to anyone. She was able to re-alter my coat the next morning when I dropped it off the night before. Had a dress that I had been wanting to wear but it was too small despite my efforts to fit into it. During the squeezing in process, the zipper broke. It would unzip as I pulled the zipper up..I lost some weight and was ready to wear the dress but the zipper was still busted. I have a lot of pants in my closet that have been sitting around and haven't been worn in a very long time because they are too big. I decided instead of heading to the mall and dropping few hundred dollars on new clothes why not have them altered. I found Linda's on Yelp and saw how satisfied her customer's were so I decided to give her a try. I took 6 pairs of pants ranging from jeans to dress pants. One of my pants needed an overhaul which needed to be altered in every direction because it was that big on me. The other pants I had her hem the bottoms and tapper the legs in. I dropped them off on Friday and got them back on Tuesday. I just picked up my pants and tried them on and WOW she does an amazing job!! My pants feel so much better and don't look like baggy on me. It took me three tries with three different coats to be able to witness Linda's talents as a tailor. The first coat I took to her was too big on me from the waist area. I was hoping she would have been able to take it in. But, unfortunately, she said she wouldn't be able to take it in without making a whole new coat out of it for me thanks to some pleating on the back of it. The second coat I took to her fit me pretty save for the sleeves. I was hoping she'd be able to either shorten the sleeves or take the seams out a bit. She said she wouldn't be able to take the seams out a because there was no extra cloth on the inside for her to work with. I walked out of there thoroughly bummed and in doubt of her skills as a tailor. Anyways, I finally found a coat that fit me for the most part except for the sleeves were super long on me. (I'm 5'2" and I have a bigger frame than most girls my height so I have issues finding coats that fit me perfectly..) I asked her to make the full sleeve coat into a 3/4-sleeve coat. She asked me a few times if I was sure I wanted to make it into a 3/4-sleeve coat and mentioned a couple of times that, "There's no going back!" (lol) I said I was for sure... She said it'd cost me $15 to alter the sleeves and $20 if i wanted to keep the original cuffs on the sleeve. I opted out of the cuffs. Linda said she'd have the coat ready for pickup after 6p on Saturday (I dropped the coat off on a Wednesday). I left there with a little more doubt because she questioned my decision. lol Monday afternoon, I went by her shop and when she brought the coat out and hung it up, the first thing she said was, "CUTE!" (LOL) I tried it on and it looked exactly how I'd pictured it in my head! There is no tell that the coat's sleeves have been altered. There's no visible stitching on the inside or outside of the coat. She did an absolutely wonderful job on it! I will definitely be going to her for any other tailoring needs. I love coming here to have things taken in, hemmed, or if something just doesn't fit right. Linda is so extremely helpful in making sure your clothes fit just right. I've taken a good handful of clothing here and I have been very satisfied with her work. There was once instance in which I took a big risk in taking her advice, but based on her previous work with my clothes I decided to trust her. It was a romper that didn't hang off my body very well. She said she would add pleats around the abdomen area and she said "don't worry, it'll look nice and be barely noticeable anyway". UMMM PLEATS TO A FLORAL ROMPER? yikes. But I took a leap of faith and was pleasantly surprised when you really DIDN'T notice the pleats much and even if you did, it didn't look bad! I trust her with ALL my clothes. I'm on the shorter side (barely 5'2) so I almost always have to bring my clothing in for alterations. Based on fairly good Yelp reviews, I decide to take 2 dresses in to Linda's. The first time getting here, it is pretty easy to miss it since it's pretty much a house located at the corner of an intersection (right at Story and Hopkins). Like what other reviewers have already mentioned, there's no parking in the lot since the building is a house so there's pretty much just a driveway. Definitely park along the street or across in the small shopping area. I think Linda runs her business out of her garage. When I went, they were doing renovations/remodeling to that area so they were temporarily using their house. It was kind of awkward since I had to change in someone's room (there was a bed, desk, TV, etc.). So I felt kind of weird. But I tried on both of my dresses and Linda and one of her assistants measured me and pinned the appropriate areas that needed to be altered. One dress just needed to be taken in at the hip area and was $20. The second dress need to be taken in and hemmed so it was $30. So $50 total for 2 dresses...not too shabby! I followed the advice of other reviewers and brought cash and paid first. I think that just makes everything easier. I brought the dresses in on a Saturday and they were ready by the following Thursday (about 4-5 days). When I went to pick them up, the renovations were done so this time I got to try on the dresses in a normal, clean, and new changing room. They both fit like a glove and I'm happy with the results. I was recommended by a friend that was recommended by their friend to come here, so I did. I'm very glad that I came here to get my dress pants altered. I needed them to go from a size 36 to a size 32 since I had lost a good amount of useless fat off my body. The pants cost me 125 bucks and I really didn't want to spend another 125 just for a pair that fitted so that's what compelled me to come here. The girl at the front desk was very nice and helpful as her and Linh made sure it was very clear what I wanted and what they were going to do to get it done. They also suggested I close up my pockets since they just didn't seem to close up once I put them on. So not only did they change the pant size but they also closed up the pockets and the pants look even better now. =D 12 bucks to get a pair of expensive dress pants altered = good deal. I used to go to this lady's house down the street from my house for alterations but she moved, so I needed a new person to alter my clothes. I went on Yelp to browse for someone new and found this place. I love how the location is so close to my house! Super convenient for me! I got my Sevens jeans and two of my shirts altered here and they did a pretty good job. My clothes fit perfectly and everything turned out great! They had me try on the clothes in their fitting room and took my measurements when I got out. The price is decent. I can't remember exactly how much it was but I think it was pretty reasonable. It was done in less than a week so that was great! Customer service was good. They acknowledge you when you first come in and see what you need to get done. The ladies there were very polite. They accept CASH ONLY, so remember to bring some cash! You can pay upfront or pay after you come back to pick up the clothes. I like how their place was nice and clean when I came in. The only thing I don't really like about their location is parking. They leave their drive way open for their customers but it only fits two cars. When there's no parking then you would have to find street parking. Their house is the very first house on the right when you first turn into the street. The area they're located in can get pretty crowded with other cars passing by and the street is always packed with cars parked on the sides. Other than that, everything else is fine. Linda's has been around for over 25yrs for sure. When I was a teenager my dad was taking his stuff there to get tailored. My mom still goes there. Are use Linda's for everything from my prom dress, bridesmaid dress, wedding dress, straight legged pants that I wanted to be made into joggers for work. They do amazing things here and they have never let me down. When I lived in Hayward I would still drive to San Jose to get my stuff done by her. If you need the turn around time to be fast, they can do that for you as well. My family loves them. read more

I HATE paying for tailoring especially because I am asian... and I feel like there HAS to be someone I know that can hem clothes so I wouldn't have to pay.... However, I called prior to arriving to ensure my dress could be altered by the following day and they did accepted to do the necessary alterations. This is the first time I've needed to get my jeans tailored and I brought them here because my boyfriend got them done here before and they turned out decent. 2 pairs of jeans and 1 scrub pants needed shortening and tapering = $14/pair seemed pretty pricey to me, but whatever. I will be back for my tailoring needs! Linda's Tailor did a great job hemming my dress! I wanted it shorter for Vegas (duh of course!) and I didn't want to be cheap and do it on my own so I decided to try her. I picked up my dress in 5 days but I wasn't in any rush. They charged me $18 for the dress but I paid an extra $2 for tip. The hemming looked very professional as if I bought my dress like that. It was awesome! It is best not to park at the house because of oncoming traffic. Instead just park on the sidewalk to avoid any collisions. I will definitely come back here for my hemming needs! read more

I paid $52 to shorten the length on a skirt and dress and make the silhouette more "pencil-y" and less, well, shapeless (40) and get a blazer tucked in at the waist (12). Bring cash, no cards or checks accepted. She closes at 7 (on weekdays). Don't know about weekend hours except that she opens at the bright morning hour of 9 am. I just thought I'd add to my review, even though the rating is the same. After she finished my prom dress, she did AMAZING, she even did a little extra seaming on the front bust at no additional charge. The dress fit me PERFECTLY and she had altered it exactly as I wanted it. I previously planned on coming back and updating to a 5 star rating, but I came back today to have my Graduation dress altered, and was a little shocked that she charged me twice as much to have this dress altered as she did my prom dress. It was the same type of alteration as well, tightening the dress by removing the zipper and placing it more outward on the seam. Instead of $15 this time around though, it was $30. Regardless of pricing though, she does do a great job, IMHO on tailoring. Both dresses were fairly pricey, and even then I trust them in her hands. read more

I went here for the first time about 2 months ago to replace the zipper on my AA pants. Walking in, it seemed as though the seamstress was busy helping a client plan out her bridesmaid's dress alterations. Still, I was seen almost immediately by the front desk girl. She told me to fill out a quick slip and that my pants would be ready the next day. I told her I wouldn't be able to pick it up until Saturday and she said that would be fine. When I got my pants back, it looks as if it was brand new! I was so pleased with her work. The total was only $10, cash only. It's been 2 months and everything still looks fine. Bad experience.... I took a brand new silk designer top for her to take in. She made a comment about the top being for pregnant person, which I didn't understand what she was trying to tell me. She took the 'lazy' way. Instead of ripping and refolding the seams, she merely overlapped the fabric, resulting in an ugly bulk in the neckline. The location didn't help her case either. I felt nervous in trying to drive through her driveway with cars right behind me. The price? The poor work cost me more.... specially it was designer top. read more

Came in earlier today only to get rejected. I wanted to get my suit tailored-- requested the suit to be slim around the waist/torso. Linda told me no because a slim body with wide shoulders would look funny. I was fine with that though. That's just how my body is shaped and I was willing to pay for that. She again rejected me and told me next time, to get a slim fit. The thing is, this is a slim fit!! It's not my fault that the slim fit suit fits my shoulders but is too big for my waist/body. I thought that's the point of being able to get it tailored... I still don't understand the problem. I was willing to pay to have the suit how I wanted it. It's not like her name is on it; I won't be advertising her business in a way she doesn't want... I just wanted a snug suit for the pictures that I will be taking in it. I bought a pair of pants (on sale) with SUPER wide legs. Who thought that was flattering? I bought them for ~$13 with the intention of getting them tailored. 8 months later, finally got around to it. Took them to Linda's and they fit like a dream. I couldn't have been happier with how they turned out. I also had them take in a top for me. They tried, and talked me through what they would try and how it would look, but the shirt was just badly designed with no give (and no zipper/clasp). I'll just have to wear a belt! They pinned very quickly, and talked through everything, which makes me feel a lot more comfortable for next time! read more

I have been coming here for a couple of years now. I'm short, 5'0, so most of my pants will always need altering. Almost anything I need fixing in, Linda can do. I recently took in my boyfriends work shirt, it came apart in the shoulder area. The company for some reason glued the shirt pieces together instead of sewing them. So due to that it would take some time to fix, but she said it could be done, and not only that, but I could come back that evening to pick it up! Yeee! :) The cost was a low $7.00!! I've brought about a dozen dress shirts and 4 pairs of dress slacks into Linda's and have been happy with all of their work. The shirts have all turned out exactly like I wanted them to fit with the exception of one where the sleeves ended up a hair on the short side, but that was more to do with the shirt than their work. I've had pants taken in, let out, and hemmed and everything fitted great. When I came back to pick up two pairs of pants I had hemmed, they were still a little longer than I wanted so they fixed them in about 15 minutes while I waited. On one occasion, Linda told me that the pants I wanted altered would not turn out correctly. I appreciate her honest than her trying to do work that I wouldn't like the results of. I have never waited more than a week for work and they will usually rush work for you if you need it. The prices are great, and there is no reason for me to go anywhere else. read more
