We've collaborated on reimagining certain pieces beyond the designer's original vision to better match my personal style--and the results have been amazing. First time customer at this location. Her work is good but her customer service is horrible! She makes you feel uncomfortable and change the price on me three times. I did point it out to her how rude she was with me and my daughter the second time I was there to pick up my daughter's dress. She decided to bring another customer into our conversation for her defense but the customer refused to intervene. Her sister is very polite and her coworker is polite as well, but the owner is very horrible at customer service. She definitely needs to take a class to welcome her customers. read more

Lost my husbands pants tried to give my husband lady pants. Husband had to search around with seamstress to find the only pair of black pants in a pile of pants that doesn't have my husband name on it. He tried it on and they fit but he could not confirm it was his. Then they wrote a 2 on the ticket for 2 pairs of pants so confusion there. They wrote $45 for two pants being hemmed so when my husband picked up he expected it to be half because of the quote. They even asked HIM how much it was suppose to be then continued to tell him it's $45 for one pant even though that was not on the ticket. Poor experience. Not sure it's my husband's pants but he needs them for a wedding this weekend. He left his information in case they come across pants with my husband's name on it. Poor communication and poor handling of my husbands singular pair of pants. I expected more with the great reviews but my husband said the worker was frustrated with him with the confusion when my husband had no control of their mess up. I guess everyone has bad days but the attitude towards my husband was what tipped it over to be unacceptable. read more

I had a mixed experience here. The alteration itself was done well--my dress was hemmed to the right length and turned out exactly how I wanted. However, the customer service left a lot to be desired. During my first visit, I felt uncomfortable and a bit unwelcome. As a first-time customer, I wasn't given clear guidance on the process (like trying the dress on), and when I hesitated, it felt like I was being laughed at. There was also a non-employee present, which made the environment feel unprofessional, especially with personal/political conversations happening while I was there. When I came back to pick up my dress, there was confusion locating it, and I had to follow up myself since I never received a call. The women that work in their are extremely rude. I went in to get two things altered, and I was hardly given a time of day. I was asked to write up my name paper. She wrote down the prices for two very minimal things have done and then walked away from me. I paid the money called across the room and asked if it would be ready in a week she said yes. I left with my fingers crossed that would be altered and not lost. When I went to pick up my items, they were equally as rude as the week before. Fantastic! Pricing ... absolutely no complaints. Turn around time ... extremely reasonable. This review dropped because they have now lost my clothes 3 times, never to be found. I would say that I am just unlucky but every time I've been there lately there are other people doing the same as me....helping her look for their clothes. After my go-to alterations moved to Los Angeles, I decided to give Ioana a try. I brought over two pair of pants along with my Indian dress which I'm very sensitive about as it is difficult to tighten Indian outfits per my experience. They need to be synched in the right areas and what not. The prices quoted were a little high but due to the quality of my clothes, I was comfortable paying the higher price. This was my go to when I moved to the neighborhood. I'm petite so I need pretty much all pants hemmed. I also have a lot of costumes (Halloween, parties, festivals, conventions, etc). Quality of work has been Great to Ok and prices are reasonable. But they come across as possibly judgmental and mean. When I come in with a costume, many of them are themed or risqué. For the first few times I joke around with them about it and they seemed friendly. I know me coming in with a renaissance fair queen outfit, for example, is funny and we laugh. I tell them how excited I am to go to the upcoming renaissance fair. But the last 2 times I brought in a new outfit, they laugh very loudly literally as I walk out the door. I get polite smiles and small talk as they mark the clothes for tailoring. Small talk about the occasion, the weather, etc. Then they continue to be polite and smile as I hand them my clothes, pay, and as I turn to go. The loud laugher from the 2-3 ladies with the owner starts as the door shuts. I'm standing in-front of their shop hearing laughter. This has happened twice now. I feel embarrassed? This is the Bay Area and we should be kind and positive about how people choose to dress. I don't feel welcomed, even if they do a good job. I will be looking elsewhere. read more

I brought in a dress to get altered, as I tried to go to another establishment with an appointment and did not feel they would be willing to take my project. My bridesmaid dress had an odd back with a corset backing with ties and Ioana was able to give me a tutorial on how to use this, she also gave some feedback on how the altering would take place! I went back again to get a last minute costume adjusted and it was too small, I brought it to another establishment and they said it couldn't be done, Ioana saw it an immediately thought of a creative solution. I've been going to Ioana for alterations for many years due to being short for most of the outfits off the rack. Most of the time I would come in for simple dress shortening. Sometimes the dresses I bring in would have multiple layers of cloth or tulle, and she'll still be happy to alter it for you! No dress is intimidating for her. If you come in, don't forget to bring the shoes/heels you plan to wear with your outfit! Ioana is honest and blunt which may be a lot for some folks but I certainly appreciate it! She's really good at what she does - she would quickly take measurements and make so little markings it makes me wonder how she remembers what fixes need to be made within the pile of clothes she has around the shop. There was one dress I took in awhile back where the cleavage was too low and I'd mentioned I was wearing it for a dinner with conservative family members. She was happy to add a button to close up the cleavage for no additional charge (and done on the spot) and a couple years later, it still holds up! In the dress pictured in this review, she let out a "ooh lala" and "mama mia" which made the visit so fun! I came back two weeks later to pick it up and the dress was trimmed perfectly. Prices are reasonable for the consistent work Ioana and her team does (when she sets a deadline on when your clothes are ready, it will be done by then)! It's funny because I have met coworkers and family friends in the area who also go to Ioana for their alterations (pants, wedding dresses, party dresses, traditional wear, etc) if that speaks to the good reputation she has built in the area! read more

This review is for a wedding dress alteration completed in less than four weeks. I was in need of alterations for my wedding dress, and also did not want to spend crazy amounts of money given how expensive dresses and alterations can be. Ioana was highly recommended through yelp reviews. I went to her location after calling and making sure she was available, within 20 minutes she was able to assess my dress. She took measurements and placed multiple pins and was realistic and what I wanted and gave me a quote. I came back about three different times before picking it up. There was one little slip up where she called left me a voicemail to let me know my dress was ready if I had any questions to call. I arrived the following day to pick up my dress, and she stated it was not ready. I tried to give a lot of Grace, especially considering she is doing such great work and at reasonable prices. She is incredibly knowledgeable about her work she shared. She worked at Nordstrom's as their primary alterations until she was laid off. There is a constant flow of customers coming in and she is a staple in the community. I don't write a lot of reviews, but am very disappointed that a garment I dropped off to be altered was lost by the business. It was likely given to the wrong customer. I've been coming here for years and the work is generally very good, but the organization in the shop is not. Ioana acknowledged the issue (luckily I had the receipt from when it was dropped off) and she did offer to pay for the lost item, which I appreciate. I'd come a few years ago to Ioana for a difficult bridesmaids dress that she fixed very well. This time I was severely disappointed. I needed my New Year's evening dress's straps fixed because they kept falling. I came the day after Christmas and was told that it would be ready by the day before New Year's. My straps look extremely messy and uneven, with thread hanging off and the rhinestones not matching. After Christmas is a busy time, and I know my dress was tough, but if she couldn't do it or didn't have enough time, she should have just said something so this would have been avoided. read more

I had really high hopes for this place based off reviews but do not leave your clothes here.. I went in a Friday morning to get some items altered.. just hemmed nothing that had any special requests or difficulties. I had about 5 items in a lululemon bag she told me next Saturday I was in no rush to get the items back.. She circled the S for Saturday on my invoice. I went back the following Saturday around 2pm to pick up just to find out to my surprise none of my items had been touched and were still sitting in the same bag. She then told me she meant the following Saturday which she never specified on the invoice and apologized and said she would have my items on Monday. I was annoyed since I live 20 minutes away but didn't say anything and agreed. Well guess what :) ... I went on Monday to pick up and yet again none of my items were even touched. They sat in that lululemon bag for 13 days untouched!! My 3rd time there living 20 minutes away and she told me that would be ready that Monday. But it gets better :) I got annoyed and told her just to give me my items back. So she did and in a rush and being annoyed I left in a hurry... to come home and find other peoples clothing in the bag as well!! So now I get to back for a 4th time because she has no idea she sent me with other people clothes. read more
