Donut part was ok but didn't have much maple flavor or icing (3/5) White cake chocolate frosting - disappointing. Chocolate was thin and donut dry (2/5) Old fashion - thought we were getting plain glazed but it was chocolate. Barely any chocolate and so dry donut was hard (1/5) Crumb glaze/raised - kids ate them and all I saw was very little crumb topping. I guess a win because smaller mess. read more

Customer service is good but I came in here on two different occasions and unfortunately had it unpleasant food. Number one the donuts were over cooked. I believe this was the first time in my 31 years of living I experienced a burned donut. Very unfortunate! Number two I ordered a French vanilla cappuccino and it was literally piping hot! I am a huge Donut fan. But I try to keep off the sugar as much as possible. But when it comes to grabbing donuts, I always go for the donut holes. And if you grab donut holes I always grab some coffee as well. This is an interesting shop. They are definitely not good as Simone's, wish they were. I've seen them take donuts from different locations on the trays. This is a small, adorable, neighborhood donut shop. When my family & I walked in on a nice Sunday morning, it looked like a few locals who probably frequent the shop were already enjoying their morning donuts & coffee. They have a nice assortment of donuts, muffins, croissants, & simple bagel & cream cheese. My children love the donut holes. And I love their Cream Cheese Croissant. Soul food for a wonderful community My last husband and I would buy doughnuts for our church here when we lived in Long Beach. I stopped by out of the blue while in the area and was surprised the owner remembered me--he asked me if I still lived in Monterey and showed me his perfect doughnuts were as lovely as him and his wife. What was even nicer, was the way people are still coming here to share their lives over doughnuts and coffee an how I could see people caring about each other. I hope the owner sees this review I waited to write this review because I didn't feel it was fair to share my experience so soon after it happened. I waited several hours so that I had time to calm down and think with a clear mind. I stopped by today (Wednesday 2/22) with my 89 year old mother who desperately needed to use the bathroom. She just had a test done at Los Alamitos hospital that required her to drink lots of fluids. After the test was done I was driving her home when she suddenly felt the urge to use the bathroom and absolutely could not wait. She was so scared she would have an accident. When i stopped into Lina's donuts I practically begged and even offered to pay for my mother to use the restroom. The lady there said " no public restrooms" even after I told her it was an emergency. After several requests and telling her it was an emergency, she kept saying no restroom was available and even told me to go to a gas station. I again offered to pay. She finally relented but seemed so annoyed. I took my mom to the bathroom and just as we left I bought a croissant out of courtesy. The lady seemed so cold and unfriendly. I don't understand why it was so hard to let someone use your restroom. If I was a worker there and someone came in looking distressed and needing help, my natural human instinct would be to help them, even if it meant letting them use the bathroom. Shame on you for treating someone like they didn't t matter and for not showing kindness and understanding to another human being. One day this will come back on you and you will remember how you treated my mother and I today. read more

I have been coming to this donut shop for well over a year now. At least once every two weeks. I always get the same thing: a round iced donut with chopped peanuts on it. I just like peanuts on my donuts, what can I say? I have no interest in other types of donuts. I want my peanut donut, my chocolate milk, and maybe a donut or two for co-workers, and then I want out. My regularity is so immutable that when I walk into this place the ladies go, "Oh, we have peanut for you today!" Or they say, "Oh no, we are out of peanut!" and I am disappointed but still get a donut. At least, until one day, a couple months ago, when I saw they didn't have any peanut donuts, I turned to leave the store. "You don't want anything?" "No, I only really care about peanut donuts," and I walked out of the store and went to Jamba Juice. The next time I came into the store, maybe a week later, they excitedly said, "We have peanut for you!" and as one lady went to pull a peanut donut off the fresh donut shelves, another lady started to pull another peanut donut out from under the counter. "No no," one lady stopped the other, "That one is from yesterday." Yes, they'd actually begun stashing peanut donuts away under the counter just in case I came into the store. Now that's customer service! These donuts are pretty good, I grew up eating Winchell's and these are of that same classic donut shop donut variety. Nothing fancy, just familiar donuts. I like the TrueMoo chocolate milk even though I am sure it's bad for me. Really, eating here at all is bad for me and I don't know why I do it. I guess at this point I am just proud to be supporting the economy/local businesses even if it is at the expense of my health. read more

I had been looking for a good place here in long beach, and definitely have found it @ Lina's. I'm usually in their bright and early at 6:30 in the morning...so much now that they know my order when I walk in,. And aside from the donuts, the croissants are also super good! I have stopped for donuts a dozen or more times over the last couple of years, Since it is on my way to work, it is very tempting to stop by more often. Sometimes I pick up 2 or 3 dozens donuts for work. Other times I will just come in to get a cup of coffee and a donut and sit at a table to enjoy for a couple of minutes before resuming my commute, The people working here (mainly a family) are polite, courteous and friendly, They interact with their customers like you would with a good friend. You quickly notice that they know what their regulars usually order. And, it does look like they have quite a few regulars. The donuts are very good. Usually I will have maple bar or an iced donut topped with chopped nuts. We always buy our weekly lottery tickets here. Everyone is very nice and friendly. When we do get a craving for something sweet my family does have some favorites things to eat. My daughter and son love the apple fritters here. My husband and I prefer the orange donuts and their plain croissants.
