I've been coming here for a while, and I have mixed feelings lately. The prices are a bit on the steep side for donuts, especially considering they used to be consistently soft and really good. Recently, though, the quality hasn't been the same--some donuts are oily, while others are dry, which is disappointing compared to how they were before. I've also tried the ham and cheese croissant, and unfortunately it was pretty underwhelming. The amount of ham and cheese is very minimal and mostly just sits in the middle, so most bites are just plain croissant. One thing to note is that they don't accept credit cards. We went here on whim on a Sunday, as we are always trying new donut spots. I know that this place has been around for a while and I get, it's a little local donut shop. The donuts, were pretty simple and pretty basic tasting, nothing about them really stood out. The inside also, looks like a very basic and standard donut shop. The service was good, the ladies inside were helpful and very cheerful and very attentive. I feel there is a lot that could be done on the inside to make The Donut Place look and feel more welcoming. This small, unassuming, strip mall donut shop seriously has the best donut staples & pastries I've had in a long time, including trendy shops and mochi ones. The donuts were fluffy, without that nasty taste of old frying oil that some other places sometimes have. I got several: a. regular glazed twist : it was still warm, soft and tasty on the drive home. b. Bear claw : apple cinnamon filling - I am eating the half the day AFTER and it's still as good as the first half from yesterday. c. Old fashioned sour cream bar glazed - (it's the kind that's split down the middle ) was crunchy and still moist, if you can imagine that. d.
