The crab boil mix is spicy comes with corn and the potatoes as usual. The service is on point however, one time I feel like the server felt like I was overdoing it and gave me my check before I was ready lol I was going in. We like being in control of the grill, but it's a nit picky thing. :) The only thing that was strange was that they had told us that they were short on veggies and were saving them for their main dishes aka they wouldn't give us an onion. Other than that, the servers were sweet, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. For Arizona, this was ok. 5 stars for blasting more OG K-pop music ala Big Bang and EXO! :D

Amazing Restaurant!…read more All amazing people of Phoenix, if you have not gone to this phenomenal restaurant yet, you really need to. This is one convenient, high quality, extremely flavorful Chinese place that me and my husband visited today. It was just high quality all the way! When we arrived it was quiet. Superbly clean, neat and tidy. Cute decor and a nice inviting vibe. We were sat at a table and given our menus. Prices were really good. Especially when you get the quality of food that comes out of that kitchen. Our waitress was super-nice. Which is hard to find these days. She was so nice to everyone who came in. When we sat down, a lady who wasn't too sure about the place came in asking all kinds of questions. And she patiently answered each one as if she was a close family member. A homeless guy came in asking for water. She jumped right up to give him a HUGE cup of ice and water and was so kind to him. Then other patrons came in to order and pick up food and each one, regardless of age, ethnic makeup, what they were wearing, all were greeted so warmly. Huge smiles and a constant giving and warm attitude all throughout. We were treated just as good. And for us that is very rare. We ordered a lot of various things. A cold cucumber salad, a hot appetizer, a couple of main dishes. Then the absolute most amazing signature steak on the Chef's Speciality. WOW. The salad and appetizers came out first. Salad really cold and refreshing. Super crisp and cut nicely. Amazing flavor. Then the appetizers were super hot and fresh. Not oily. Bursting with flavor. Then the mains came. Everything cooked perfectly. The flavors of each dish just screaming at my taste buds. Enjoyed every bite. Then they brought out the steak for my husband. So juicy. So tender. And the sauce in the side just added to the flavor. We savored every bite. The quality and temperatures and flavors are off the chart. We could not finish all this bliss in one sitting, se we asked for boxes and containers. She gave us many to separate everything and a bag to haul it home in. Always asking if we needed anything else and being authentically polite. This place should be packed. You are missing out if you have not tried New Hong King Restaurant. Amazing service. The restaurant itself is so cute and has such a charming feel, so I was hoping the food would be just as impressive. Unfortunately, this visit was a bit of a miss for us. The noodles were very hard in texture and unfortunately lacked flavor. The fried rice was also disappointing -- I expected the usual fried rice with some vegetables and flavor, but there weren't any veggies, and the rice itself was very hard and bland. We also tried the sweet and sour chicken, which didn't have that classic sweet, tangy flavor I was expecting. It was pretty bland, and unfortunately, the chicken tasted a little off to me, so I didn't end up eating much of it. I really wanted to love this place because the reviews are so positive and the restaurant is adorable, but based on this particular takeout experience, the food just wasn't for us. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but unfortunately, I don't think I'd be rushing back. Cute restaurant, but the food definitely missed the mark for us this time.

We had heard both positives and negatives about it so it was about time to make up my own mind. We arrived at 5:00 and were seated immediately. The buffet looked interesting with about 6 rows of items to peruse. Companion went first and when he returned I got a plate and began my tour. First item on my plate was the seafood boil. Crawdads, shrimp, mussels, corn on cob, potatoes and lots of cajun spice. If it had been hotter it would have been wonderful. Next I started down a row of hotel pans, picking those items that seemed interesting to me. Shrimp in various incarnations, beef and broccoli, pork egg roll, potsticker, sticky pork rib, velveted pepper steak with onions, and a couple of pieces of sushi. The shrimp was nicely cooked and the pepper steak was tender and properly cooked. The sushi was unremarkable and the egg roll was soggy and without merit. The potsticker was nice as was a piece of fried banana. Sanitation in the food areas was excellent with counters being wiped down as needed. I also noted one of the chefs in the Mongolian BBQ area wiping down the tiles on the wall, which was quite impressive. However, not all was great. Food was tepid at best and while I did not have a thermometer with me my estimate was that none of the food was over 100 degrees. The restrooms were a different story. The ladies room was properly clean and appointed with nothing but a few drops of water on the floor by the sink. However, companion went into the men's room and took a picture for me. It could not pass any type of inspection by any person. Normally I would have handed my companion my ultra violet light which I use when checking bathrooms, but why waste the batteries? The place was filthy and the toilets were terrible. No use to stand upon the seat, the crabs in here can jump six feet! Companion remarked that it was disgusting and he forgoed using the facility. Our bill for 2 was $36.11, which is about what other buffet charge, however, I've eaten at much better buffets for this amount. 3 stars
