This place was bussin. The food was mostly edible, except the bones on the duck and fried chicken... kinda of mad that the duck was labeled as pork, was a nice surprise though.... The bathroom was clogged... don't know who did that.... But thankfully there was a plunger nearby so I got the job done. There's a lot of space and has a pretty honey and nostalgic atmosphere. I have not been here since I was a teenager, but I have been seeing it pop up on TikTok so I told my husband let's go try it out. We opted to take it to go, we ordered pretty much a little bit of everything. They are not playing with the amount of food they give you! It's seriously a lot especially for the price. I couldn't remember how it looked back in the day but I would think not much different than back then because it's pretty dated inside. The staff we interacted with were all friendly. The food is old school Chinese food which is pretty hard to come across these days. Nothing really stood out everything was like taking a bite back in time... literally like oh wow it's exactly how it was then. The service is great the second I walk in I'm greeted and asked what I would like to order! The staff here are nice and respectful and are willing to go above and beyond to meet your accommodations! At the time I did dine in May Garden there are other food items that you are able to get from the Buffet table that are quite exquisite and tasty!!! The seating arrangement is nice very spacious, I'd say the most thing I like about dining in is that you don't have the hot Arizona sun in your eyes as you enjoy your meal! 9 out of 10 recommend this place its a MUST TRY!! I now live in California so when I visit home this is my first stop. The service is always quick and the food portions are massive. Your plate will weigh a good amount the more you add. They do not skimp on the food. It's a buffet with food always fresh and being made when something runs out. Always nice and hot. It's very simple and that's what I love. When you first walk in, it's a very awkward, very small area. $14 per person isn't bad for a buffet but their options were very limited. There's a salad bar and then all of the basic Chinese food options. Dessert consists of vanilla ice cream and if you're lucky they'll have those sugar coated donut holes. They did this time so that was nice. Very small food area though; kind of disappointing. The food, however, was better than most Chinese food (I'm not a huge fan in general but all my friends wanted Chinese lol). I did eat enough to get full so that is why there's 3 stars. The food wasn't bad and I left full. The environment is very strange. It's extremely outdated and not attractive. I didn't want to spend any more time in there than I had to. My parents used to take me here as a kid in the 90's, now I take my kids here. May Garden has been a household favorite for years and years, since it was a tiny one room shack, before they expanded and added that back room. It has always tasted the same and has always looked the same... and to me its unique originality is greatly appreciated when we live in a time where things are constantly changing. The food is amazing, crunchy fried foods, to savoryeats, and the sweetness of the ribs- which are my favorite. Hands down best fried rice of any Asian food place! And the best crab cakes. The owner is a splendid man who works hard and seems devoted to giving people the best. I love it. 30 years I've been in love with May Garden and I hope my kids bring their kids and so on.
