Hot towels after we finished dinner
Tiffany H.

We paid $116 for two people at the buffet on Friday, specifically visiting for the crab legs. There was a very long line at the crab legs station, which was expected. They had hot butter ready on the side and served three clusters of crab legs per plate. We also enjoyed the New York steak with au jus sauce. Our server, Felipe Gasper S., did an excellent job by promptly clearing our dirty plates, replacing the broken crab leg bowl, and refilling our drinks without us having to ask. The dessert section was impressive, offering a wide variety of options. At the end of dinner, Felipe dropped off some hot towels to clean our hands with and fortune cookies for us. We enjoyed everything the buffet had to offer and would definitely come back.

Nastiest crab legs ever. Slimy, dry and seriously discolored.

It had your standard American breakfast staples along with items I would consider for dinner like prime rib and oysters. Our server was great - she wasn't frazzled by our large group and made sure each one of us was taken care of. The ambiance was super casual and at times busy; it is a buffet after all. Although everyone enjoyed their time here, including myself, I would not go out of my way to return. This is so out of the way for me and there is nothing extraordinary that would compel me to come back on my own.

Probably they were frozen after being cooked. Oysters on the half shell were slightly dehydrated and their taste was off. Bagels with cream cheese and lox was good but the little slice of lox on top was very small, I was tempted to take 4 bagels and just take the toppings off of them. Prime rib was expertly roasted rare, but the meat quality was probably USDA SELECT in grade. The sautéed green beans were great. The fried shrimp was mediocre at best; probably frozen right out of the bag. Menudo was also mediocre in taste, the flavor should have been rich and deep, but it tasted pretty flat. No dim sum and that surprised me. Dim sum used to be a standard offering. I love Sunday brunches but I really gotta find another place.

The vibes aren't necessarily stellar unless you're seated in the booths around the edge of the man part of the restaurant, but it's a huge, low priced buffet with lots of options and a ton of seating. We sometimes travel 40 minutes to eat here. It's good.

When you walk in, the buffet is right there behind the front desk. Yes, it was mostly a chinese buffet but there's one item on the array of foods that I liked a lot. It was a bit too spicy for me and it was Cajun sauce with potatoes and I poured the sauce in a container and made my way and grabbed some snow crab legs and crawfish and made my own seafood boil lol Pros: They stack the crab legs and crawfish Although the Crawfish didn't have any flavor (I would suggest dumping it in the cajun sauce with potatoes) Cons: It was an hr drive to PHX and the traffic.. The parking situation: It was packed. Some people stood and secured their space.. which I think is unfair but do what you must. Just luckily we found parking in front of the entrance. Best to back up park, so you can easily get out of the complex

Absolutely outstanding gumbo and etoufee, equal to the best I've had in New Orleans. 10 out of 10. About the only negative I've ever experienced is the oysters. Everything is cooked right in front of you; and the cooks (and foodservers) are very friendly, outgoing, etc. I normally don't tip the cooks, but here I do. Some in the group ordered pan roasts and some ordered crawfish etouffee. My friend also ordered clams. I always get the combo pan roast here. It's a mix of crawfish, shrimp and crab. Choose your spice level from 1-10. I forgot to specify a number and just said "hot" but it was not spicy enough for me. I normally get 7-8. I ended up adding in all the hot sauce options that were on the table plus some chili powder. Now that had a good kick to it. Ask for that! Price for the combo pan roast has doubled from before! It used to be $20, then it slowly increased to $30, and now it's $40! It's good, but I can also make it at home and get more for my money.

For apps we got the lamb fondue which was super tender and unique. Dipping meet in cheese? Literally nothing better. Then we also got the green chili pork stew which is a MUST try! Not too spicy and full of flavor. Also, great for sharing as you fill it in the buttery tortillas. The filet was seriously one of the best I've ever had in Arizona. It has a nice shallot butter crust and it was cooked PERFECTLY medium rare. This was a highlight. The pork chop is huge and has a nice sweetness to it. The meat wasn't dry either...it pretty much tasted like the best bacon I've ever had LOL Everyone must get the green chili Mac n cheese. Not spicy at all just Smokey and tangy and full of cheese but shockingly not that heavy. The pecan pie was unreal. Gooey and sweet but the crust was still super flakey. The brownie skillet was soft in the middle which is how it always should be. Their known for their frozen huckleberry margarita which is a treat in its own but it's not too icey they definitely don't skip out on the tequila. Rachel was our server. She's been there for awhile so you know that they treat their staff well. She was super knowledgeable and honest about certain menu items. I also spoke with the manager, Matt, who was very welcoming and seemed very proud of his restaurant (as he should be). Overall highly reccomend it here. Everything exceeded my expectations. We were running a little late so I had our friends check-in at the hostess stand and they gave my name for our reservation which was confirmed and they were sat at a table. We then arrive a short while later and I approached the hostess and stated that we had a reservation and our friends already arrived, checked-in for our reservation and were seated. The hostess asks what name the reservation was under and I tell her my complete name and she said she doesn't have it. I explained that I have a confirmation email and she waves her tablet at me about 4 feet away so I can't see the details and says "See! I don't have it." I replied, my friends are already here under the reservation so can I just go find them? She replied yes. I don't understand the interaction when my friends clearly checked in already using my name for the reservation. It was a discussion that wasn't necessary and did not give our first visit to the Roaring Fork a good impression. Once we found our friends after searching through the entire restaurant, we found them and sat down. We were immediately approached my our server who was very attentative and gave great service. We were told about a 3-course menu with multiple selections and I decided to get the New York Strip. I enjoyed my cesar salad and then the New York Strip was delivered. It was prepared according to my request, medium, and I checked by cutting right down the middle. I noticed it was a little tough to cut even with the steak knife I provided but the inside looked as expected so I continued on. What I was surprised to find was the amount of gristle on the New York Strip. There is nothing like having to pull food out of your mouth (several times) at a public place because you can't possible chew or consume it. For $80 (salad, New York Strip, sides and desert) I expected better. Unfortunately, my experience leads me to leave a 3 star review.

But I was pleasantly surprised! It had a decent selection I would say your basics of beef & broccoli, sweet & sour chicken, fried rice, lo mein, but several types of shrimp, spicy shrimp, salt and pepper, they had mussels, the salmon was nice and also some flounder I believe? Fried pork dumplings, stir fried cabbage, sautéed mushrooms. They also had your typical soups, wonton, egg drop and hot & sour. Normally I don't do soup at buffets but the wontons looked light and tempting. So I actually had 2 bowls of egg drop wonton. They were good. I found the food temperature warm to hot.s and the price was good, with soda it was 21 excluding tip. This place did its job, I had about three plates and the two bowls. That was at 5x here it is 6 hours later and I'm still full. Server was friendly and brought me more soda without asking! Just the way I like it. Recommended for a good buffet.

I had several helipings of that. their food wasn't all that. it wasn't anything special, in my opinion. keep in mind, I live in SoCal and frequent the NorCal/Bay Area as well as Las Vegas. so there are a lot of asian food spots that I have had the pleasure of dining at prior to this visit to the red wok buffet. being that this is a buffet, I didn't expect much to be honest. the presentation of the food was rather dismal.. I was expecting more somehow but no. there are plates available but when I looked in different receptacles, there were no bowls for rice or soup. there also were no spoons. hmm. I tried some pretty typical things like orange chicken and their version of beef and broccoli. neither one of 'em was real good. the beef wasn't bad but it was cold. their noodle dishes, ones that I'm pretty sure were supposed to be served hot, were also cold. guests seemed to be seated furthest from the buffet stations. the sushi rolls didn't look terrible but I wasn't brave enough to try any of them. the nigiri sushi items looked old and pushed around. that wasn't appetizing. the staff were friendly but seemed to speak limited English. the restrooms weren't in the best shape and were in need of some TLC. The price was super cheap and well, for what we got even, I feel like my kiddo overpaid for sure. there weren't many items that they could eat. soft foods available were either old or cold. it wasn't my cup of tea at all but whatever...it was lunch before heading to the airport.
