The only downside is that their selection of desserts/sweet foods is limited as compared to other buffets. The place gets very packed on Fridays and weekends, so prepare to wait a couple minutes if you're showing up without a reservation/waitlist. Although we had to wait for a bit, the service was excellent. Our server was nice and made sure everything was okay every so often. The atmosphere of the place is pretty much what you expect from a buffet. It's busy and can get slightly noisy. There is a punching bag arcade machine right in the front, so don't be startled when someone is playing it. The decoration of the place is modern and clean. I am incredibly disappointed by the way my family was treated today. My daughter has a documented medical history that has affected her ability to eat. She relied on a feeding tube until about 6 months ago (she is 7) she is only able to eat very small amounts of food. During our visit, she took four bites from her twin sister's plate because she was unable to eat a full meal of her own. I will always encourage and support her learning to eat. I will not deny her something I have worked so hard to help her overcome, especially when this is a struggle many people do not understand. When I paid for our meals today, I explained this exact situation, so staff was already aware before we sat down and ate. I purchased the $100 meal with the understanding that my daughter's medical situation had been communicated. Instead of approaching the situation with understanding or compassion, staff chose to call the police over my refusal to pay an additional $15 for a child who medically cannot consume a full meal. In all the time since this place has opened, and after dining at this restaurant multiple times, I have never experienced anything like this. What upset me most wasn't the policy itself--it was the complete lack of empathy and willingness to have a respectful conversation. Families with children who have medical conditions deserve to be treated with dignity, not made to feel like criminals over a few bites of food. Customer service is about more than enforcing rules; it's about using judgment and compassion when circumstances call for it. Unfortunately, that was completely absent today. Because of how my family was treated, I will not be returning, and I will no longer recommend this restaurant to others. Yesterday I was in Amarillo, today I'm in Phoenix. Woke up to sunshine near Sedona on the i17. I was suppose to finish my delivery and head back to LA. But fate wouldnt let me. And so found myself leaving the rig in the receivers yard, and I came out here to what many say is the best Buffett in Phoenix. So I'm going to agree on that statement. For 20.00 on a weekdays, you can have quality at almost every food hot bar in this joint. Their Cajun Shrimp and Corn are spot on. Not Boiling Crab level but far better than many Buffett places across the country. The Beef ribs is straight up Chinese influenced, sweet, sauce drenched in five spices, cinnamon, bay leaves, rock sugar and cloves--- a first in a Buffett setting 滷lu牛niu肉rou braised beef. And for a plate of on the spot hibachi pasta.......this is by far the best hibachi spaghetti Mongolian beef plate I've had in ages. I've almost completely forgotten Buffetts actually taste good and with the value here in Phoenix, you just can't find a spot like this in LA anymore. My friend took me out here for my birthday dinner and it was great! However I would like to come a different time when it's not so busy. The staff was able to stay on top of things consistently, our table was always getting cleaned and our drink was always filled despite how busy it was. But the sheer amount of people in the place on top of how close together the tables are made it really overwhelming. Really hard to not bump into people. I kept bumping into the people at the table next to us when I went up to get more food. The pricing was pretty good, around $ 20 each for dinner and the drinks were around $3 each. Keep in mind that you have a 90 minute limit to eat, though. The food I tried was all pretty good quality compared to surrounding buffets. The dessert was also good, I was a big fan of the little coffee cake dessert they had. I'd love to come back for lunch someday! read more

Numbers being called overhead. You get charged once you're in before they sit you. You get your table then they bring your drinks out and you can go get your food. Plates are at almost every corner of the food isles. I tried to taste everything but there was so much!! It was good the only thing I didn't care for was the shrimp (with the head, not of the fan of the eyes). But they don't clean out the vein and the shrimp was over cooked! Number 1 buffet is located in the Gateway Crossing plaza. I called in advance to find out if they were open on Christmas. They are open on every important holiday. They quoted me the price of the meal as well. When we arrived, you pay for your meal in advance. Prices were elevated and not what staff had quoted. Not happy, but we shrugged and paid the fee. They had special items like duck, short ribs, crab legs, salted crab, roast beef plus their usual items. Salads, dim sum, sushi, sashimi, soups, beef, pork, chicken, hibachi, veggies, and desserts. This buffet is so worth it. $22 for a Sunday is an absolute bargain (especially since I'm for California). Their place was inviting and the service was pretty quick even though it was packed. I surely enjoyed the male tour own poke bowl and the assortment of sashimi available. There were also crabs and shrimp included in the buffet which is a big plus. The food is good, but you need to be careful with how they handle payment. They require you to pay before being seated. When you pay, they only tell you the total amount verbally, and that amount already includes tips (12%). However, they then give you another receipt that doesn't clearly list any items, just a line asking for a tip and your signature. If it's your first time there, it's very easy to assume tips weren't included and end up tipping again, which means you're essentially paying double tips. my mom and I love coming here usually. I get it today was thanksgiving. My main complaint is that we had 3 adults and 2 kids. For the three adults total is about $120 ($39.99 each) and 2 kids (6-8 yrs old $15.99) about $32. The cashier than asked if any kids were eating lobster tail we said NO. she didn't ask us that (adults) our total had came out to $205 and I was concerned on why it was so much because it should have been around $152. I then ask why was it so much and get pink tickets. She said it was automatic that the lobster is automatic charge onto each adult. We then ask again before we get seated and we're told don't worry about it it's included in the $39.99??? Which made no sense because it clearly says on your sign EXTRA ADD ON LOBSTER TAIL $18.99 per person. The automatic charge for something we didn't want and we didn't even eat the lobster was insane. It's located in a big plaza, happy to see plenty of parkings. The place was nice, suitable for big groups and families. I love how many choices they offered. They got sushi, seafood, Chinese, Mongolian, Cajun, etc. I'm genuinely surprised they have sashimi, usually buffet only offer sushi but they provide protein only options. I visited Avondale No.1 buffet today, and I am absolutely furious about their dishonest billing practices. Writing this to warn everyone so you don't get ripped off! After they swiped my card, the server ONLY handed me the credit card slip (Merchant Copy) to sign. As you know, it only showed lines for "Tip," "Total," and "Signature." There was NO itemized receipt included at all. I felt something was off, so I asked the server for the itemized receipt. They looked extremely reluctant and annoyed but finally printed it out for me. When I looked at the actual receipt, I was shocked: THEY HAD ALREADY AUTOMATICALLY CHARGED THE GRATUITY!!! This is incredibly shady. If I hadn't spoken up and insisted on seeing the itemized receipt, I would have filled out the tip line on the credit card slip and ended up double-tipping! They are intentionally hiding the itemized receipt hoping customers won't notice and will pay extra. Word of advice: When dining here (or anywhere), if they only give you the credit card slip, DEMAND to see the itemized receipt first! Okurrrrr. Stumbled across this gem while I was staying in AZ for a mini getaway. I saw a tik tok vid and decided to come in and check out the hype. Is it really the Number 1 buffet!? Came in on a Sunday night around 7pm - it was lit! Came in got a # and was seated within 30 minutes which was the expected wait time. They have a good seating system, and was very organized. Probably not good for larger groups - If you come on a busy night. Ok, so on a Sunday the price for adult dinner was $19.99 and $13.99 for kids (10 yr old). For the price, not bad at all! Food was fresh and hot, they were constantly refilling the crabs and the food. You do have to pay $2.99 for soda but feee refills - holler!! 12% service is included. I would say there's a good selection of eats! I had to have the crab legs of course - they weren't as meaty but what do you expect since they're not in season. The hibachi grill was yummy especially since they're made my egg the way I wanted - still drooling over that yolk! Pork Dumplings was amazing! My husband discovered the poke bowl section after I was on my 4th round. I couldn't fit it in! lol but he said it was fresh and delish!!! The all you can eat sushi is all good. There is so much different dishes to try but I never get past the sushi. The price is getting a little ridiculous the last time I went for two people with no drink was a little over $50. They charge you like 3 difference taxes plus a 10% Graduation cost even if your not there to celebrate someone's graduation or your own. Every month they charge that same 10% fee for whatever holiday is within that month. That's a lot of extra money everyday with every customer. The Price on the menu board is not the price at all. I ask every time why was I charged a few moor dollars then what is on that big menu board? They should just take it down and put a sign saying, we're going to charge this price today because the boss needs a new car! The manager kept coming to our table to check our receipts even though we all had them out on the table. It was chaotic inside as it was graduation week and due to that they did increase their prices and they also charge you a 12% service fee. Crab legs were 2/10. I did try the Hibachi section it was good just kinda skeptical due to the health concern of raw food being exposed and mixing up the tongs. However, my parents have been talking about Number #1 Buffet and their experience so my husband and I thought we would check it out. The family went after church on Sunday so we got there around the time they just opened. We went to the front counter to get a ticket and to inform the staff how many was in our party. The staff were friendly and they seated us right away. The price was reasonable $19 and kids under 2 are free. The Buffet is clean and there were an abundant amount of food choices. They refill your drinks and staff was consistent in picking up dirty dishes off your table. The place was overall huge. I like how organized the place was especially in a busy environment. I love that they have available ice cream you can just grab from the freezer and they have fresh sushi which was actually better than I expected according to my husband. After our satisfying meal there were a whole crowd outside waiting to be seated. I actually didn't expect how much people were waiting outside. Overall experience was great! It was actually fun to go! We did go back a few more times during the week. It was definitely less crowded but still busy. We even ordered a party half tray of mushrooms during Thanksgiving Day and were able to get the tray within 10min of order. Place is very busy and very bright. This could be a me issue more than the restaurant as I have a favorite near me, but I wanted to try anyplace that calls themselves #1. They have a large sushi bar, the sushi is highly stacked and a lot of options. I enjoyed the sushi, but it was stacked so high that some of it was warm as it had been sitting out for awhile. This was the common theme, a lot of the food looked GREAT, but would not be the expected temperature, the sausage, cold. The honey chicken luke warm and hard. It seemed a lot of the food was either overcooked or had been sitting too long and was now a non-ideal temperature. They have a lot of cool options, my son brought a friend, so 2, 12 yr olds, they tried foods they have never had before and enjoyed the experience. The server only refilled our drinks once and wasn't seen often, but to their credit, the place was VERY busy. Which is why the cold/temperature off food was a surprise. We arrived about 3ish, so they were still serving lunch. Lots of options, but mainly Asian food and some seafood. There were some decent items, as well as others that were one-biters (try it, didn't like it...lol). At around 3:30, they start serving the dinner foods, so there were some new items being put out. Surprisingly, almost everything we tried was either lukewarm or cold. Hubby tried some of the desserts and was mostly disappointed. He did enjoy a Tiramisu cake, so that's good. The service was good, our drinks were refilled and dirty plates taken away immediately. The restaurant is very big, so you don't feel like people are sitting right up next to you...lots of room to move around the buffet tables. Here's a tip for anyone getting some of the seafood. I like cocktail sauce and didn't see it anywhere near the shrimp. Surprise, it's over by the salad dressings! I have no idea why it was over there, at a completely separate table. What was not good was the 12% service charge tacked on the bill! In Arizona this is a legal charge. What is not legal is FAILURE TO DISCLOSE SAID CHARGE WHEN BEING BILLED! This charge would not have prevented our eating here. But management obviously needs to train the staff to disclose this charge. But I am sure they purposefully fail to disclose this. It's a really nice clean buffet compared to other Asian buffets and has just about everything the same I can get at Pacific but they do have more selection at the sushi spot, more seafood choices (we went Sunday so you'd probably see it Sunday or dinner time). With how busy it was you know the food was kept rotating and fresh. Price wasn't bad but did notice that service fee they sneakily add to your receipt. It wasn't a bad buffet.
