Brisket BBQ sandwich
Jen C.

Only 4 stars because the sides were all just okay, but the actual barbecue here was so good. Burnt ends sandwich and a brisket sandwich, both flavorful, smoky and delicious. Waitress was nice, food came out quickly. We had to rush out to catch a flight (our fault for losing track of time). It's a bar so you're getting bar atmosphere, but we'd recommend this place to others. Haven't tried other locations but really enjoyed our meal here.

Upside down Pineapple Cake Martini

My out of town brother selected Limp Lizard for our meetup. No wait at the bar. I asked for a recommendation for a summer friendly coctail and was served a pineapple upside down cake martini! Pineapple, vanilla delish! We moved to an outdoor table with village view. Service was friendly and attentive at the bar and the patio. The guys both had rib dinners one with Mac and cheese and hell Fire chili. Cucumber salad and fries. I ordered a brisket bbq sandwich with Mac cheese and the chili as well. The guys loved the ribs and the Smokey bbq flavor. Mac and cheese was a hit, so creamy and blend of cheeses. Their hellfire chili is debatable, I enjoy it but it's not your classic chili, consists of mostly seasoned ground beef that packs a little heat it's definitely not close to hell fire for me topped with a bit of cheese and sour cream. It lacks moisture that crushed tomato, tomato paste or broth would improve viscosity. The brisket sandwich is huge with a Smokey bbq flavor topped with cheese and bacon. Some fatty bites but to be expected. Rage review from the guys voting for LL ribs over DBQ! Ifykyk the smokiness sets them apart!

nashville hot chicken sandwich with chili and sweet potato fries

The service I received here was fine but maybe a little slow. Not many people in the place but didn't check back so often. The food left a lot to be desired. My side of chili was tasty but a bit greasy and very small. The chicken sandwich had the breading falling off. I have tried them out at food truck events and do enjoy the walking taco they do. I also tried them at the taco festival and the taco was simple but a good portion for the price. I would go back and try more of the menu to see if I like some of the other food better.

Cowboy salad and hellfire chili

Liverpool Limp Lizard is on point again. We ordered to go this time, so we could enjoy our meal watching Thurs. night football at home. I ordered my usual Cowboy Salad with side of hellfire chili. Portion was huge as always. Especially the chili. That's a SIDE!! Great flavors and best when combined together. Janice ordered the Nashville hot chicken. She appreciated the sauce on the side. It was not too hot either. Just the right amount of heat. The two sides were tasty as well. We've always had a good meal here. The place was packed on a Thursday night. Our bartender/server did an excellent job. It was only her fourth night working there! It's a definite Check em Out rating!!

Wow... I really liked this place I had the brisket and smoked wings dinner. The dinner included 2 sides which I picked the slaw and the chili... I really enjoyed the chili it was awesome but the slaw was a bit to vinaigre tasting for me. The corn bread was delicious. The brisket was really good but the wings with the blueberry BBQ sauce were the belle of the the ball. This is well worth visiting the service was awesome. I had a great time.

Tried this place out after a Yelp event and it was ok. Food: I ordered the brisket platter with a side of spicy chilli and collard greens. The brisket was cooked really good and the sauce was flavorful too. The chili was extra greasy and it had spice but not actual flavor and the greens taste was non existent. The fact that the brisket was really good I could excuse it but everything in the plate was lukewarm. Of course I took it home and warned it up which allowed me to get the full flavor of the meat. Service: The waitress was really nice and attentive. She gave us many recommendations on the drinks and her favorite foods on the menu. Decor: The place looks a bit like a dive bar but it don't bother me. There's plenty of room if you have a big party. All and all it's a 3/5 but if I was in the area I might come back.

I love this place. Awesome variety of beers, friendly staff, and awesome food. This place in Liverpool,NY has the BEST wings I have ever had. The wings here are better than at Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse even though the smoked hot wings at Dinosaur BBQ are very good. The wings here take the trophy for sure. If you are a chicken wing connoisseur, you absolutely have to try the smoked hot wings here at Limp Lizard in Liverpool NY

The food was enjoyable! We started with the pretzels and cheese appetizer, which was delicious. For my entree, I had the nachos, which were slightly dry but still flavorful. Overall, the food was good. The service was friendly and courteous, although a bit slow due to the crowd. We sat outside and the atmosphere was perfect. We're already looking forward to our next visit, when we'll have to try the ribs!

Limp Lizard is a local favorite of mine. I believe it's right on par with they who shall not be named! Truly I have favorites at each and Limp Lizard no matter what we have ordered has always delivered a delicious meal. Most recently we got the Cowboy salad and the Hog and heifer burger. Both were fantastic with the Cowboy winning the rodeo with a variety of flavorful moves that had us fans wanting an encore!!! We also enjoy the large variety of sides they offer, with sweet potato fries and Mac and cheese being the personal favorites. What else is left but to Enjoy!!

Full slab of ribs rubbed with Dinosaur's signature rub, coated with Original sauce. They were OK; nice smoke but not anything to write home about. Sides were disappointing. Greens with turkey meat were really, really sweet, without the peppery bite of vinegar I expect. Coleslaw was large pieces of cabbage in a too-sweet sauce. Cornbread was way overbaked, almost burned. Tasted my buddy's brisket. That was tasty. It was well cooked, not over smoked, not over sauced. Could have used more salt (I'm a fan of a 3:1:1 mix of coarse black pepper, kosher salt, and garlic powder so I'm biased). Hindsight being 20:20, should have gotten it tonight and will next time I'm in town. My view: Dinosaur is kinda like Rochester's Garbage Plate. You have to try it once, but it's not something to have on your standard menu.

Seemed like a very authentic hole-in-the-wall, and I will definitely be back. I had the beef soup. It was pho-like, in a huge bowl with very thin beef (but lots of it) and filled with spicy peppers. Get some water, those peppers pack a pleasant punch. I also had bbq chicken, lamb. They both were like smallish juicy skewers. The chicken was actually better than the lamb, but both were delightful. Finally I tried the BBQ squid. It was tough to describe. Firm, but not too tough or chewy. It came in a sauce that was like the chef had gone to heaven and brought back some soy sauce just for you. Order is ready within 20 min of the call, we pick it up and everything is piping hot and fresh. One order of noodles is good for 2 people, and we save the rest for the next day. There is a variety of veg in each order as well - cabbage, carrot, brocolli, mushroom, and a few others I'm probably forgetting. We opt for the shrimp instead of the seafood option because you get more shrimp and less fake crabmeat. It goes without saying that the quicker you start on the noodles, the less soggy they are (this isn't usually a problem for us). Flavor is nice and light, not excessively salty and a good taste of garlic and sesame oil. You get three skewers in one order, there's not a ton of meat on the stick but it's nicely roasted with a dusting of the chili salt seasoning that brings back memories of street food in China. My husband mainly gets it for nostalgic purposes haha - but it's a nice snack. Total comes to $26, which feeds two people two meals, so really good value. Great for a night off from cooking.

But the menu is more diverse than you might expect - along with barbecue and steaks, the regular menu includes several seafood and pasta dishes, burgers and barbecue sandwiches, wings and fried appetizers. Rancher's Choice has been on my list for a while in my search for great BBQ in CNY. Recently stopped with some friends for lunch but unfortunately, it was a let down. We had a reservation just in case, but it was 1PM on a Sunday, so we were sat immediately - 1 or 2 other tables sat. Our server was with us immediately. My wife and I ordered a 2 meat platter to share with smoked kielbasa, brisket, smoked mac & cheese and onion rings. One of our friends also ordered a platter, while the other, who's a pescatarian, went with shrimp scampi. Our food was brought relatively quickly and mostly everyone felt their dishes were just okay. Our 2 meat platter had small portions (for 2 people, maybe that's on us), all our meats were cold, a small squirt of BBQ sauce on our meats, and our smoked kielbasa and smoked mac and cheese had no smoke to them and just tasted like normal offerings anyone could have prepared. While we know most of the pricing when it comes to BBQ comes along with the labor involved in preparing it, what was served to us simply wasn't worth over $30. With only 1 or 2 other tables sat, we didn't feel there was any reason for our meats to be cold either. Our server was great, personable and attentive. Don't think we'd give it another chance.

Looking through recommendations I came across Mr. Bigg's restaurant. I am always open to try different cuisines and one for sure was Caribbean/ Jamaican when I am back home. It was definitely surprising how fast it was made and delivered but then I also noticed it was located pretty close to my hotel. I ordered the Oxtail with beans & rice, plantains, steamed cabbage and an additional side of corn bread. First bite was a delicious. The oxtails are tender fall of the bone. Great depth of flavor and texture was delicate. Plantains are nice in flavor and color, steam cabbage is steamed nicely not watery, rice was a great compliment and the corn bread was moist and sweet. LIMP LIZARD -- 12 STARS OUT OF 10!…read more When perfection meets creativity, something extraordinary happens! Another fantastic visit to Limp Lizard, and once again, they reminded me why I keep coming back! I settled in at the bar, where Kiersten, my server, took care of me and got my wing order exactly right, as she always does. Accompanied by a refreshing pint of PumKing, I started with my usual order of 10 EXTRA CRISPY Salt & Pepper Wings, smoked first and then cooked to absolute perfection. All I can say is AMAZING! PERFECT! OUTSTANDING! The smoky flavor, the seasoning, and that incredible crispy finish were everything I wanted. Technically, I was one wing short, but you know what? When wings are THAT perfect, who's counting? Certainly not me! But then came the unexpected highlight of the evening. Dion, the Kitchen Manager, approached me and asked whether I'd be interested in trying a new wing flavor he was developing, compliments of the kitchen. I told him it really wasn't necessary, but he genuinely wanted my opinion. How could I refuse? What arrived was a creation of Maple and Chipotle Spiced Wings that absolutely STUNNED my taste buds! The first sensation was a beautiful, rich maple sweetness. Then came the heat of the chipotle, creeping in with just the right intensity. But what made these wings extraordinary was what happened next. The flavors began a merry-go-round of SWEET, HEAT, SWEET, HEAT, dancing back and forth across my palate! This wasn't just another flavored wing. This was a carefully constructed culinary experience. A slow-building, beautifully balanced burn that encouraged you to savor every bite rather than rush through it. The sweetness kept inviting you back, while the heat reminded you it was still there. And somehow, with every bite, you wanted MORE! Dion, if these wings make it onto the menu, YOU HAVE A WINNER! A huge thank-you to Kiersten for her consistently excellent service and to Dion for sharing his creativity and genuinely caring about a customer's opinion. That kind of personal attention and passion for food is what separates a good restaurant from a GREAT one. Limp Lizard, you've outdone yourselves! 12 STARS OUT OF 10! BRAVO, DION! BRAVO, KIERSTEN! Ah, Limp Lizard. My sister and her family and I often come here on warm summer nights and…read moreafterwards walk over to Big Dip for some ice cream. Today, I took my nieces, who have returned here many times. Primarily because their mother loves this place so much; she was actually the one to get me hooked. Now, I won't compare this to a certain well known other BBQ place (ahem Dinosaur BBQ), because even though Limp Lizard also has their own BBQ sauce and entrees, I see these two restaurants as entirely different. Limp Lizard offers southwestern/Tex-mex/BBQ style cuisine. There are burgers, corn bread, fries, red potato salad, salads, onion rings, ribs, jambalaya, chicken, beans, etc. My one niece who used to love the mac and cheese, but claims the recipe changed (I agreed after trying it today. It reminds me of kraft, not terrible! But she doesn't like the new one as much) had the chicken tenders and a side of mac and cheese (rather than her usual full entree). My other niece and I split the Philly cheesesteak, sweet potato fries, and mac and cheese. I have actually been craving their Philly cheesesteak. We also all ordered the bottled Saranac Shirley Temples. There were so many chicken tenders my niece couldn't finish them on her own, and she gave some to each of us. Even though my other niece and I split a meal, it was more than enough. Although, I do think the cheesesteak could have been filled more with meat, as the bread to meat ratio was a little disproportionate. My niece's chicken tenders were basic. I actually told my two nieces who are 14 and 16 yo, that I was so perplexed to how Chick Fil A does fried chicken so well. Limp Lizard's tenders were perfectly fine, but not ones I will remember. I would prefer Tully's. One let down was that I believe they changed their recipe for BBQ sauce. I used to practically drink their original recipe, but something tasted off about the BBQ sauce I had today. The one I remember from past occasions was vinegary, tangy, thin, and had a reddish tone. Whereas this one was thicker and not as flavorful. They have a wide selection of drinks and desserts. Lots of fun Saranac carbonated soft-drinks, beers--Coronas--and pies. I really love Limp Lizard and I am so happy there are multiple locations in case I'm out in Liverpool or near another location. This Limp Lizard also does delivery! Overall not disappointed, but I feel like my past occasions have proven better food.

In 2022, the conversation started about what sort of a "ghost-kitchen" concept would be fun to open. After bouncing a few ideas around, they landed on 3-1-Fried, but instead of serving bone-in fried chicken, decided to focus on making fried-chicken sandwiches.  The three owners spent more than a month designing their sandwich with Kevin Harrington, the manager and cook at Limp. They incorporated a variety of spices into the flour used for the breading. They auditioned several buns before settling on a brioche. They created sandwiches with chicken breasts and some using chicken thighs. Then they figured out the toppings, and officially opened for business in April inside of the Limp Lizard in North Syracuse. I love me some fried chicken. Fried chicken, in all its forms, are one of my absolute favorite foods. I've been following 3-1-Fried since before they opened and could not wait to give them a try. Since they've opened, I'd heard nothing but good things about them, but gave it a month for the craziness to die down before I gave them a try. Yesterday was that day. Wife and I went in right at opening at noon. My wife ordered the Chucks Hot Honey, topped with pickled red onions, lettuce and hot honey, while I chose the buffalo, topped with buffalo sauce, pickles, and blue cheese. Both came with tots. Our food was made quickly, but we were unfortunately very disappointed with it. My wife and I both experienced the same thing...both sandwiches meat were rubbery, dripping with oil, and all the breading just slid right off the sandwiches. The brioche buns were good, tots were great, well cooked, crispy and very well seasoned. But what matters at a fried chicken restaurant is the fried chicken, and it did not live up to the hype. Little bit on the pricier side as well, as all sandwiches with tots are between $13 to $15 dollars. We had high hopes for the place, and it's possible they had an off day, but our two sandwiches came to over $30 and for the price, with what we were served, we would not return.

I asked for a menu in Chinese (Mandarin) as English is my Chinese Wife's second language but was told they did not have one (NP most American-Chinese restaurants do not but is worth asking i.e. The Red Chili restaurant in the same area provides a traditional Chinese menu). As soon as I started to order, the server interrupted me and told me that the cook had left on an errand and would not be back for at least 30 minutes and asked us if we mind waiting; she did offer to make some appetizers herself but there was enough uncertainly to cause us to decline and leave. My wife use to own a restaurant in Changchun (China) she agreed that the first bad decision was advertising they are open with no chef, the second silly decision was to wait so long before telling us.
