It wasn't bitter and you could actually taste the Jasmine tea. The aloe was also yummy and included in the price of the drink. The egg waffle was ok, we've had the one in Chinatown which was fluffy and light. This one was dense - probably because of the batter and it was semi- crispy. Service was fantastic. The employees had smiling faces and were willing to answer any questions we might have. The place was clean. Plenty of seating areas and electrical outlets! Apparently this place is a chain boba place, that I never heard of before. Some of my friends from UMass Amherst were very familiar, so I said why not check it out. The waffle comb ice cream is really instagram worthy with the backgrounds they have here. It's also pretty delicious! I'm a big fan of anything matcha, and green tea ice cream with a really big waffle is pretty tasty. There's a ton of boba places in Allston, so if Kung Fu Tea, Gong Cha, and etc. are too full, then this is the spot to go to. I'm no longer a college student, so I don't need to study for exams. I've been here on many different occasions with different groups of people. One of my favorite cafe shop. Ambience is phenomenal. Very modern, laid back, and a cute cafe. Reminds me of a modern farm-theme cafe. There's even a wall where you can take pictures! Street parking only but right off of green line. They take cash and credit. Let's get on to the food, shall we? Eggpuffs alone is very crispy and nothing like eggpuffs at ViVi in North Quincy or from the lady in Chinatown (seems like everyone knows the lady in Chinatown who specializes in Hong Kong eggpuffs). I wouldn't get eggpuffs alone. But with ice-cream (green tea, red bean, vanilla), it's a wonderful combination of hot crispy eggpuffs and cold, mouth-watering ice-cream. My favorite is with red bean ice-cream. As far as drinks go, you can't go wrong with anything. Doesn't taste like artificial sweeteners from bubble tea to smoothies. It feels fitting to FINALLY write a review for LimeRed Teahouse on National Boba Day ahhhh! In short, this is the best boba in Boston. (Their other locations out in Northampton and Amherst are wonderful too--the quality is consistent, even though some menu items differ. Try visiting them all!) They set the bar for the competition. They only use real, natural ingredients, so you can actually pick which type of milk you want and choose the level of sweetness for your drink. 25% sweet is my go-to! The Boston space comfortable, clean, and zen. It's equally as good a space for afternoon breaks with friends or powering through a study session. The staff are really great too at letting you make modifications to drinks too. My signature move is adding cold brew to milk tea and creating a coffee milk tea! It's fantastic--especially if you need the extra caffeine boost! I only wish it was permanently listed on the menu, but I can make do for now :P read more

Currently obsessed with Boba so on our day trip to Boston I had to get me some boba. This place was super cute! I definitely see myself bringing in my laptop, having some boba and listening to some relaxing tunes. I'm disappointed in the boba I got though. LimeRed hands down has the best matcha drinks in Boston. I'm basically addicted to its matcha mocha, and matcha drinks at other establishments all taste subpar now. The matcha is uniformly dissolved unlike that at Starbucks. Some other places skim on matcha that you can barely taste it, but not LimeRed. I've tried the strawberry matcha latte, matcha latte, ginger peach iced tea, and blueberry jasmine iced tea as well, but my favorite is still the matcha mocha. Besides the famous egg waffle, LimeRed also offers desserts like macarons, matcha tiramisu, matcha cheesecake, yuzu cheesecake, and butter mochi. Unfortunately I've only seen spinach and feta croissant for savory the last few months I've frequented LimeRed. I really like the decor and atmosphere, and the space is bigger than some other boba places in Boston. However, it is almost always crowded and pretty loud, so even if you get a table you may not be able to study much. Been here a couple of times already and got to try the Adzuki Milk Tea with red beans and Passionfruit Tea with boba. The boba was chewy and a bit sweet which complemented the drink. I dub this place, "The most Insta-worthy coffee shop in the Boston area"-photogenic desserts, even more photogenic interior. I've only been here twice, and enjoyed my visit both time. The girls behind the counter are always attentive and warm. The boba here is pretty good-better than a majority of other boba places in the Boston area. My last visit here, I shared the ice cream with the egg waffle with my sister. So amazing! The egg waffles are crispy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside, and they make the PERFECT combo with the creamy matcha ice cream we got with it. Matcha flavor was pretty strong in the ice cream. For $8ish, it's totally worth it! I have a huuuuge sweet tooth, and I'd say it's plenty for two people to share. I always love an excuse to check out another boba establishment, and this time it was LimeRed! Right in the BU area, I was able to find a metered parking spot pretty easily. I ordered a lychee jasmine tea, and was able to customize it (no sugar for me today). The boba and lychee boba were also tasty. The bubble tea here is one of the best I've had in Boston! I love that you can sub with oat milk and they have a good variety of drinks/desserts. There's also free WiFi and a good amount of seating so it's a great place to study/do work. I usually get the Assam milk tea with boba, less ice and 75% sweetness. This is usually the sweet spot for good boba and for the most part Lime Red delivers. Only thing is that the quality is inconsistent -- I've had times when the boba was on point - chewy, nicely sweetened - and the milk tea had a good black tea flavor. Other times the milk tea was bland and didn't even taste like it had tea in it. The same applied with the boba, which lost the good sweetness it usually has. Overall this is a solid place and I'm definitely going to be here pretty consistently for my boba fix. read more

The pearl milk tea is quite good. They have a lot of matcha selections as well. I love that they have a nice selection of food alongside their drinks, such as macarons, bubble waffles, and other baked goods. Their signature food item is the bubble waffle sundae. It is a bubble waffle wrapped around ice cream, topped with your choice of delicious toppings and drizzles. The black sesame ice cream is SO good. I can imagine that the matcha would be good, too, but I would go for the black sesame as it is a rarer flavor in general. You can get as many toppings as you want (save for a few that cost extra money). The bubble waffles are soft and eggy. It is an amazing dessert. The food and drink selection complement each other well, but on top of that this place is a good place to hang out in general. It is clean and hip, and would be my place of choice to study or just hang out with a few friends. read more

This restaurant is more of a drink then dessert cafe, although they do have select cake slices and macaroons to have with your drinks. The service was slow. There was only 1 person behind the counter and she was busy taking and making the orders. (Pretty cool) However, it tasted not that nice. The bitterness from the matcha latte was too much and the sweetness from the top layer strawberry was heavy too. Came in on Monday with a friend and really loved LimeRed! First off the place is so nice, such an amazing place to study. The green wall with hanging lights was super cute!!! Since we're form out of town me and my friend rolls pictures here haha. In terms of drinks I got a hot black milk tea with boba and I really loved the flavor! The size was also good for the price , which is great. The boba consistency was perfect, and the sweetness level was just right. I also got the egg waffle without ice cream (I was feeling cold oops), and while it was a bit doughy the flavor was excellent. I really wish I could give this place 5 stars but the drinks me and my friend got were lukewarm rather than hot. I decided to come to Limered Tea house after seeing pictures of the waffle sundae online and instantly thought... "I need to try this!" I came on a Saturday evening around 8pm and ordered a waffle sundae with matcha ice cream. Service was really fast, there was no line when I arrived. The wait time for the waffle sundae is about 5minutes since they need to make the waffle. When I got the waffle there was no complaints. It looked delicious and it was delicious. Ice cream was good and waffle was warm. The only thing... since it's a small place we had to be on the look out to see who was leaving soon in order to snatch up a table. I enjoyed my time here and will definitely be back for some more. I've read a lot of good reviews on the pearl milk tea so I will try that next. read more

Hands down one of my favorite milk tea spots in Boston! LimeRed itself is super cute and pre-covid I loved to come here to hang out and study with friends because there was plenty of space. My friends and I went here for dessert this past weekend. The place was packed around 9 at night but we were able to find a spot. We wanted to try out the cakes but they were sold out. We got a berry cheesecake and an honeycomb waffle to share. The berry cheesecake was pretty good. It was moist and the blueberries and strawberries on top were fresh. The honeycomb waffle came with a sheet of egg puffs, black sesame ice cream and oreo cookie crumbles. I couldn't really taste the black sesame in the ice cream and I thought the egg waffle was a bit hard. As a drink, i got the matcha lemonade which was good. Overall, I give it a 3.5 stars. All drinks come with a free topping which is in line with other tea houses. I've been here a few times and the matcha latte does not disappoint. My first drink here was the matcha lemonade, although I'm not sure if I can pick out the taste of matcha in the tart lemonade. A great spot to hang out and service is friendly and quick. I've ordered the jasmine green milk tea with boba, taro milk tea with boba, and the egg waffle sundae cone. That really did not disappoint! Most times, I can never really taste the jasmine in the milk tea because the creamer is overbearing, but not at LimeRed! The boba was a good consistency; very chewy. The taro milk tea was okay, maybe it was because I got it with less sugar. The only thing I could complain about the milk teas here is that they run a little bit on the watery end. The egg waffle sundae was really good! Nice crispy outer texture with a soft and bouncy inside. I do have to admit that it was kind of crazy; green tea ice cream, chocolate and caramel drizzle, whipped cream, crushed oreos, strawberry pocky, and mochi. Sugar overload!! The most instagrammable cafe in Boston! I came to try their egg puff waffle sundaes. The waffle is crisp on the outside and oh so chewy on the inside, complete with two scoops of ice cream and a variety of toppings. Most of the toppings are free, however a couple cost extra (i.e. mochi) I've had my fair share of bubble waffles in Hong Kong and I can confidently say that these waffles were on par! The macarons also looked delicious, although I didn't get to try any. Some unique flavors were earl grey, honey lavender, and rosé. The cafe makes a great spot to catch up with friends or go on a date- the seating ranges from comfy lounge chairs to high tables. I also got to try the Honey Lavender Macaroon and that lead me to buy a whole box as a gift for the friend that's housing me for my trip to Boston. The staff was really friendly and the vibe was good! As soon as you walk in, the simple yet aesthetic interior captures your eyes. There's an Instagram worthy green wall to the left as soon as you walk in. It's pretty busy so it may be hard to find a table since there are only a handful of tables available. The first time I came here I had to try the strawberry matcha latte and not only was it pretty to post on my instagram but it was indeed really good~ never had any drink like that before. Also tried the earl grey milk tea with Boba and that was good too. (Not too sweet and really can taste the tea!) The second time I came here I wanted a simple hot drink, so I tried the assam milk tea and it was really good. They don't use just regular milk but they used steam milk which made it foamy and fluffyyy Finally, the thing that makes me give this place 5 stars is the service ~ the staff is super friendly and super nice. This is a great place for studying or to hang out with friends, although the seating is limited to a few tables. Service is quick and friendly, and the restroom is clean. My go-to drink is the Jasmine bubble milk tea with 25% sugar, and it's perfectly made with just a hint of sweetness. The tapioca itself is perfectly chewy and has that QQ texture. My husband tried the red bean latte last time with 50% sugar, and the difference in sweetness was very stark, so be aware if increasing your sugar level. You can also sub in the milk with options like almond milk, as well adjust sugar level of all your drinks at 0, 25, 50, 75, or 100 percent sugar level. On top of this, the vibe of this place is really chill, bright with good natural lighting, and a great place to study because of free wifi and every table pretty much having about 8 outlets within reach for your laptop power adapters/chargers. LimeRed is also super clean, including the bathroom--which I can say is one of the cleanest I've seen compared to all the restaurants I've been to on that street/area. Okay, this place is amazing. I was in town visiting my friends from college, and my friend who lives in Allston took me here. I was too full to get a waffle sundae, but settled on a plain waffle & a Thai tea. Both were delicious, & had me craving more LimeRed. My last day in Boston, I knew I had to go back to try the waffle sundae... and it absolutely did not disappoint. I don't recommend getting one for yourself (though, I did finish most of it... oops) as it is pretty big, but I definitely recommend trying one. I am both sad and happy that I don't live in Boston or else I would be at this place daily... :) I wish they would have more tables inside, as they were packed both days with no place to sit.
