This is our first time at Lima Tavern, and it won't be the last. We found it through the AAdvantage Dining Program, and we can't be any happier. If you like authentic Peruvian cuisine, don't miss it. The food was excellent! We started with the Papas a la Huancaina, a classic, five stars. I ordered the Tallarines Verdes con Asado (Peruvian Pesto Noodles with Steak), and it was delicious. César, our server, told us that it takes time because everything is prepared fresh, so the wait was super worth it. My wife ordered a Quinoa Salad with Chicken; she really liked it. We didn't know quinoa originated in Peru, but now we do. Cesar was always attentive and often came to our table to ensure we had everything. Overall, we had a great time, and we hope to return soon to try the ceviche and many other dishes.

My favorite restaurant I've been to in a long time! From the second you walk in, the mood is set. The menu is not overly complex, but still has many great options to choose from. I tried the Lomo Saltado and it was delicious. For dessert, I had the Picarones with a coffee and it was great. I want to thank César and the owner Eliseo for an amazing experience and giving background on the food and fun stories as well. Will be coming back here again soon and Thank You!

This is a nice little Peruvian restaurant tucked away in the back of a strip. The menu had a good selection of dishes including ceviche, cuts of steak and seafood. The Lomo Saltado I ordered was good. Meat was tender. Cooked in an oriental style sauce almost like a kung pao. There was a sax player who started up midway through the meal and was very good. Service was ok.

My expectations were high after reading the reviews & the minute i walked in the restaurant looks and is clean, pleasant, the waitress was really friendly and approachable , service was really good. Now let's talk about the food. Ceviche mixto was good, calamari a little over cooked , and the fish was cut the wrong way so it was very tough, but the leche tigre was very tasty, good flavor. The pollo saltado was so salty that it was hard to eat and same the lomo saltado. Like i said service was extraordinary but food was not good and the price is pretty high!

Place was kind of hidden at one of those strip malls. Place was clean. Only another couple was there, but it was 5pm. They just opened in March 2017. A little pricey but food was excellent. Definitely will go back. read more

I fell in love with Peruvian food having spent a month there but it's so hard to find legit places outside of Peru. This place does not disappoint. This was such an amazing experience. Came here with my whole family and everything was delicious. We all loved the maracuya pisco sour, this was by far the best ceviche in Dallas. The jalea and arroz con marisco were really good too. You must try the picarones and the alfajores. We are all picky Peruvians and have searched for great Peruvian food in Dallas. This is the best Peruvian restaurant in Dallas by far. From the maracuya sours to the jalea linens to the alfajores. I have to especially call out the ceviche which is a true Peruvian ceviche unlike the other kinds you get around Dallas. Great service as well and an owner/chef that cares about the product he is delivering. read more

As a Peruvian, this was thoroughly disappointing AND overpriced. They had anticuchos de pollo (chicken hearts) for $8 and we got a grand total of 3 skewers, each with 2 tiny hearts on them. The lomo saltado was mediocre at best and the rice was 100% not Peruvian, no salt, no garlic, nada. I also asked for ají verde and homeboy gave me some ugly brown sauce tryna tell me he's from Trujillo and loves cooking his home food. Like, did a white man teach you Peruvian?? No salt on the rice. A disgrace to Latin America. Not to mention, we were the ONLY PEOPLE in there, and the service still took so bad. We waved to our waitress 7 times for the check, and she WAVED BACK. It wasn't until my boyfriend went up to her to ask for it that she brought it to us. And before you think I'm just salty and wondering why all the other reviews are good, read them; they're all "i've never had Peruvian before, but I like it now!" From an authentic point of view, it's definitely the worst place in Dallas you could pick to try Peruvian food. The most affordable are Tineo and Munay, once you try those you'll actually love Peruvian food, not the discount version you'll try here. read more

Wow!! The food here is amazing!! Ceviche is one of the best I've had in the area. All the dishes we tried had so much flavor and depth. The drinks were also so so good. And don't forget the flan. Fantastic place - great food and customer service both from the wait staff and the owner who came in multiple times to check on us and chat with us. Though close to closing time when we were there and they never made us realize that. We had the chicken satay that was juicy as well multiple plates of ceviche. The desert - Peruvian flan and the short bread with cream in it were fantastic . 1 star of because of average drinks and the dinner was good without being great read more

We ate here last evening and had a fantastic meal and overall experience. Being from Portland, the "foodie" capitol of the US, we have no doubt Lima Taverna can compete with the best of the best! The staff is attentive, considerate, and in-tune to making sure you are taken care of. If you are staying in Dallas, this is just a short drive down the highway and well-worth the drive. Very nice restaurant and staff. The empanadas were sooo good. I had empanadas and Peruvian quinoa salad for lunch - so filling and tasty. Other people may take away 1 star for the slow service when the restaurant was not full, but 5 stars are warranted for the beautiful presentation, friendly service, smiles, and tastiness of the empanada (the best I have tasted in Plano) and quinoa salad. I wish I had known how tasty and filling the quinoa salad was, I would have been eating more of this delightful dish. Beautifully presented. More empanada's please. It is a nice restaurant for an executive lunch. The ambiance, the decor is done well, down to the simulated crocodile skin chairs. read more

This place was perfect! Came in on a Friday evening for dinner and were delightfully surprised. Service was nothing short of fantastic. Eliseo was so kind and welcoming, coming back to check on us and ensure our experience was top-notch, even suggesting we come back Saturday nights for live Peruvian music! We intended to eat dinner, too but the appetizers were so generous and delicious that we were very satisfied after the ceviche and beef/chicken skewers. The ceviche boasted poke-style chunks of whitefish: absolutely perfect (not too hot!) with spicy peppers. Eliseo made me a Peruvian style Moscow mule, which was strong and included fresh and flavorful herbs. The beef heart skewers we're so tender and chicken skewers so moist; and of course everything was generously seasoned. We ended the evening with their tres leches cake, a large and mouthwatering slice and were very pleased with the perfect moisture and classic taste. We will definitely be back for entrees soon! read more

We had brunch today and couldn't have been happier. The tamales were wonderful; moist, flavorful and delicious. For main courses we had Aji de Gallina and Chautauqua. Both were wonderful and fresh tasting. We have tried many Peruvian places and have often been disappointed...not today! Service was also top notch. We will be back! read more

Everything was delicious here. My husband wasn't as impressed. We ordered the ceviche for appetizer, and lomo saltado for entree. Both were incredibly delicious! Service was slow, but very good when we got it. We had a bunch of questions and the servers had to run back several times to get the answers (that part was frustrating...having to wait some more for them to return). Best ceviche I've had in the US. This is close, if not exactly what you'd have in Peru. Staff are very friendly but you're going to have to wait a minute on the food. Everything we ordered turned out great. I'd recommend the alfajores for dessert. read more

Everything my wife and I had here was amazing, as was the service. We had the ceviche mixto as an appetizer, I ordered the saltado de pollo, my wife ordered the tallarines verdes con asado, we drank hot tea and chicha morada, and finished with alfajores. Everything that we ate was delicious and the tallarines verdes con asado was my wife's favorite dish she's ever had in a restaurant. Our server gave us great recommendations and was very knowledgeable and the manager came and introduced himself and was very suave. This place is very well run and we will definitely be back. Great atmosphere as well. read more

Established in 2017.

Eliseo is very proud of his Peruvian heritage and he opened this restaurant to share his culture and cuisine with the local people. Allof the recipes come from his family, and it is a family- run restaurant. He is always using the highest quality protein and vegetables for every dish on the menu. Most of the meat is halal as well, adding even more quality to the product that he offers. They make food the way it should be eaten.

I visited this stylish, higher-end restaurant with the expectation of enjoying elevated Peruvian food, but unfortunately, my experience fell short. Upon arrival, the host immediately inquired about a reservation, despite the restaurant being nearly empty, with just one other couple present. The service was lackluster from the start. We ordered drinks but never received them. When we asked the waiter for guidance on the menu, as we were unfamiliar with Peruvian cuisine, he was unhelpful and rushed us to place our order. He seemed more focused on pushing alcoholic beverages than answering our questions. The food arrived alongside our appetizer, but for the prices ($30 and up), it was disappointing. I had ceviche, which was served in spoons and was overly acidic and bland in terms of seasoning. Throughout the meal, our waiter was absent. My friend had to get up and ask the hostess for our drinks and water to be refilled. Eventually, the owner came to deliver the drinks we ordered, which were tasty Chicha. I mentioned to him that the service had been poor and suggested that better service would encourage us to return. He apologized but then walked away. Our waiter ended up attending to a large party of 25 that arrived after us and never returned to check on us. We had to ask for our drinks again but were met with silence. When we requested the bill split three ways, the owner made an inappropriate comment about whether we wanted to buy my mom her meal, seemingly trying to offend me after I had expressed my concerns about the service. The man seemed to be sexist and rude, walking around with a blow-up ego. When I challenged him, he insisted it was a joke, which I found in poor taste. This led to an argument where he yelled at me for speaking my mind. Ultimately, he admitted his comment was idiotic, which was the only point we agreed on. His demeanor was rude and egotistical. In summary, the food was subpar, the service was awful, and the overall experience was lackluster. If you own a restaurant, it's essential to be open to feedback and criticism if you want to encourage customers to return. I will let everyone know what a crappy experience I had there to be sure no one I know and care about sets foot in this place. read more

My dude and I came here for a Saturday night dinner. He's peruvian and we've had amazing peruvian food while living in LA the majority of our lives. We came here with high expectations and they were met, without a doubt. The experience was top notch, with only a few minor hiccups that didn't compromise a 5 star review. The ambiance of the restaurant is inviting and we were pleasantly surprised to find out they had a live band (at 9) - we got there at 7 so we didn't see them perform. We were told it was going to be rock music. Had it been a salsa band, man that would be the icing on the cake and we probably would've stayed till late to enjoy. Nevertheless, we were pleased with our food and service. We ordered our favorite plates: ceviche and lomo saltado- the dishes Perú is known for. We also ordered the maracuya pisco cocktail and chicha morada. Both were so refreshing and delicious. The chicha morada was amazing and not overly sweet. The ceviche is my personal favorite- the first bite and I was in food heaven. I literally rolled my eyes and said some combination of expletives when I took the first bite- it's so damn good. The bass was so deliciously fresh. The sweet potato was perfectly sweet and a nice contrast: the crunchy canchitas were excellent for texture. I literally licked the plate. Next was the lomo saltado. For $27 the portions left us wanting more but it was certainly tasty. We are perhaps used to lomo saltado platters being quite large, especially for that price tag. Our waiter was courteous and attentive. We had mentioned the odd choice in radio music being played ("eye of the tiger" and other anthem-y rock songs) and how it really didn't match the vibe of the restaurant. I think the owner overheard and immediately changed it to Peruvian music- so much more pleasant to the ears. Lastly, we ordered the flan de Lucuma and it was TO DIE FOR. Melt-in-your-mouth amazingness. Highly recommend. We will recommend this restaurant and will be back to try other menu items (and to order more ceviche!) thank you read more

My partner and I went out for dinner with four friends, including a couple who just relocated from Lima, Peru. The restaurant was a bit hard to spot since it's tucked away at the back of the building, but once inside, it had a really inviting feel. The menu had a lot of options, and I was happy to see several gluten-free choices. We kicked things off with a carafe of chicha morada, which was super tasty. I went for the Jalea Limena, a fried seafood dish that included white fish, calamari, shrimp, scallops, and mussels. The portion was huge, so my friends helped me out because I really wanted to save room for the picarones. The seafood was delicious, with a light breading and a tasty tartar sauce. The white fish was definitely the highlight. I shared the picarones with my partner, and they were light and flavorful, made from sweet potato and squash. Served warm, they were a real treat. We recently dined at Lima Taverna, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. We began with Pisco sours, which instantly brought back fond memories of our trip to Peru.
