I'm from NJ and grew up with some amazing authentic Peruvian food. My best friend is from Peru and recently moved from NJ to GA where we also had some amazing Peruvian food. Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing authentic about Lima Taverna that's from Peru. The Jalea was seafood from a frozen bag and should be renamed fried Calamari instead. The Lomo Salteado was awful & the meat did not taste like beef. $84 later plus tip I would advise you all to please avoid this place if you can. read more

This place is an ABSOLUTE MUST if you are in the Plano area. My mother-in-law recommended it to us after making 3 stops there herself (in one week). We LOVED IT! One of the best meals I have had in a LONG time! It's easy to tell when you're in a place that takes pride in every meal that comes out of their kitchen, this is certainly one of those places. New to the area and looking for a Peruvian Restaurant close by. Found it in Google search. Service was great! Owner and server were very nice and attentive. My daughter had the Lomo Saltado and I had the Tallarin Verde con Asado. Both very tasty and decent portions. We also had the Papa a la Huancaina as an appetizer which was very good but could use a little more salt. Nice ambiance. It even has a bar. I had the Maracuya Sour which was very refreshing. Right before getting our check, the owner treated us to a Rocoto Shot. This is what I call great customer service! Will definitely return. Can't wait to try their ceviche. We had found this Peruvian Restaurant in Plano yesterday for lunch,We really enjoy the meet empanadas and Tamale were really delicious!! We took Papas a la Huancaina order for to try at home. The worst service I have ever had. We arrived at 745. By 810 I hadn't gotten water or offered anything to drink. I ordered a pisco sour. It never came. I got one refill the entire night but only after I asked them. The price of the food was outrageous. $18 for a small plate of chicken. My food came out at 9. 1 hour and 15 minutes after I arrived. My friends had been there since 7:30. The food arrived separately. My friends never got an appetizer. It wasn't busy. The music was so loud you could barely speak. Great food, great service, great ambiance. This was our first visit, and I can't wait to come back and try more things. We had a group of six. We got there at 5:30 on a Friday, and did not leave until almost 10:00. They do not rush you...it was very relaxing. It started with cocktails, then dinner, and we all told the manager what we liked, and he made recommendations. This restaurant was recommended to us by friends and we were not disappointed at all. We had the ceviche was served in the way the typical ceviche should be served. If you know your ceviche, this is it. The empanadas, filled with meat and raisins and very well seasoned was delicious. My husband had the pork cutlet with the Peruvian sauce and he loved it. The best in Dallas Lima Taverna bringing the best of Peruvian culinary to you. the ceviche was made just like home, juicy with all the flavors of the ocean in every bite I also had the chicharron "fried pork" with the hand cut sweet potatoe fries and sarsa criollo pork was fried just right and seasoned to the t.. This was a surprise find for us after a hair appointment. Location is somewhat diffult to find. Its on the mall ring road past Jared's facing Macys. So not facing Plano Pkwy. After visiting Peru last year I couldn't wait to try this place. The food was delicious - spot on. Had the Ceviche Mixto and it was very well done. The Pisco Sours were delicious, as well as the traditional Lomo Saltado and Aji de Gallina. The service, though, was lacking. No one was outright rude or unpleasant. But no one seemed pleased to be working there. Took almost 15 minutes just to be served water. Our server (who spoke English - I heard her, so it wasn't a language barrier) barely acknowledged our presence. She stood quietly while we told her what we'd like. She said almost nothing to us all night. No smiles, no nothing. Maybe she was just having a bad day. Our experience improved once all of our food was brought out, but I was worried until then. I would definitely go back for the food, but only if I was in a "don't bother me" mood. :) read more

Tried this place because I found a coupon at work and I'm so glad I did! It's kind of hidden away in a strip mall which is the only reason imo this place doesn't have more business. Ceviche was decent but quality of fish could have been better - a bit fibrous and stringy at times. I'm a big fan in general of Saltado do anything but let the pollo and lomo were a bit underwhelming. Sauce was heavy on the soy vs other ingredients. I suggest to anyone who reads this that you go to this restaurant at least once, and I'm sure you will return. Having lived in Peru for several years, I have always been a fan of Peruvian food, which is a great fusion of Spanish, African, Oriental, and Inca cuisines, but have never been able to find here other than a few isolated dishes. Now I found it. This menu is authentic Peruvian in every dish. We were a party of four on a Saturday night, 7:30. The restaurant was busy, but we had reservations and were seated right away. First a round of Pisco Sours, perfectly crafted. Delicious. We shared appetizers: ceviche, anticuchos (skewers), and empanadas. All great. We ordered the regular ceviche which was excellent, but next time I would order the Leche de Tigre which is more picante. The normal anticuchos are made with chicken, but in Peru they make them with beef heart, and when we asked, they said they could do that, so we ordered them that way. They were seasoned just right, but beef heart is not for everyone. However, if you like it, you need to ask. The empanadas are medium size and deep fried. The taste was right on, but I prefer bigger ones and oven-baked. They were a little pricey for the size. For the main dish, we ordered: TALLARINES VERDES CON ASADO (fettuccine in a light green sauce with slow oven-cooked beef), JALEA LIMEÑA (fried fish, scallops, shrimp, mussels, and calamares and fried yucca strips), LOMO SALTADO (sautéed Asian style beef with sautéed onions, served with white rice), and ARROZ CON POLLO (cilantro season half roasted chicken and cilantro rice). We ordered a quinoa and green salad to share. Cannot say anything bad about what we ordered. The plates were sufficiently generous, and the taste was genuinely Peruvian. The fried seafood plate was tempura style, not greasy or overly breaded. The fettuccine dish was excellent, with two large slices of the beef which was very tender after two hours slow braising in the oven. And the lomo saltado, a staple at any Peruvian restaurant, was delicious and authentic. The salad was very fresh. The wine list is non-existent and although they have a couple choices of lesser grade California wines. The Peruvian beer and pisco sours are a better choice. However, hope is on the horizon because the owner told us he is going to start stocking some Chilean wines. Nevertheless, this is no place for a wine snob. The service was good, leisurely like in the South American style. A musician played nice Latin music for about 45 minutes. Would have liked it longer. When we finished, the owner brought us each a Pisco-Nazca(?) shot, which is Peruvian and Chilean pisco mixed with ground peppers. Delicious and very hot (picante hot). Then they brought a Flan de Lucuma to share. Our thanks to Eliseo for that. He was very attentive to our every need without being overbearing. As for the prices, the appetizers range from $8.00-15.00 and the entrees $14-20. Those are reasonable prices to find authentic and delicious Peruvian food, but may be a little high for some people. However, go for a special occasion, and you won't be disappointed. read more

Having come from a city with several outstanding Peruvian restaurants, I'm super pleased with Lima Taverna. Lomo saltado was perfect. A little heavy on the seasoning, which I believe is how it should be. Beef was very tender. Arroz con pollo was my next favorite, with the pickled onion garnish being an excellent complement to the rotisserie chicken. Of our 3 entrees the Aji de Gallina was my least favorite. Don't get me wrong it was still top notch compared to some other places I've tried. But it was a bit low on the shredded chicken. However the aji was by itself outstanding. Lastly the pisco sour was a bit too sweet and not sour enough for me but still gets a thumbs up. Way more pluses than minuses with this place. Well worth the visit! read more

It was my first time there with my family it was four of us, we were invited to a gathering of a friend there, the place seems nice, service was bad they sat us down it took 10 minutes to get menus didn't get offer water and there was plenty of staff there I see them walking around or standing around, overpriced for the amount of food, we had to wait 30 minutes to get our food, we ask three different times if we could get more bread never got the bread, did not let us know why we couldn't get any more, and the reason asking for the bread was because the food was taking to long , staff didn't came back to ask if everything was good or if we need if anything else , what was more puzzling was that when I walked in I saw their wall that they had 3 awards of Dallas food critic, I don't understand how that happened. I've ate at plenty of Peruvian restaurant I love the cuisine. But this one was for sure the worst experience. read more

Everyone was friendly and helpful. Their signature cocktail with passion fruit was the perfect drink. The ceviche was the best I ever had. Chunky fish cuts with the perfect amount of Citrus. Add a little of the house hot sauce and it was off-the-chain delicious. The salmon with calamari dish was incredibly delicious and flavorful. We were pleasantly full.
