This place is definitely amazing, I give an A+ to the amazing people that work there specially the guy with the blonde top hair, he's an amazing Honduran Hard working guy, every time I got there I'm always hoping to get him as my server because he's amazing. I always go with my family, I've visited this place about 20 times this 2018 year. And all I ca say is that these people are amazing but this guy in particular makes no mistakes and I love that. Keep it up. read more

I love this place. I have come here for dinner about 5 times. I almost always order the arroz con pollo, plantains, and a Lima mule. It has been consistently delicious. The service is quick and friendly. The drinks are strong. Oooo and the arroz con leche is also delightful read more

We had lunch at Lima Criolla recently and all for of us were well pleased with the service, ambiance and the remarkable food that was so good, I overdid and had to take some home...which was OK with me. I tried to go the whole route of appetizer, entree and dessert. Whew! I took the advice of my server who knew his stuff when I asked for the real Peruvian "McCoy" And, I was not disappointed. Of course I had to have Arroz con Leche for dessert and in the Peruvian tradition it was served warm. Outstanding! read more

After having a really bad day at school I was craving home style food. Unfortunately my mother does not live near by and instead of driving 14hrs, I had to come to the only Peruvian restaurant near by. It really did the trick! I enjoyed every bit of my meal from the Pisco Sour to the Cau Cau to the final touch the alfajores! Bless this place for serving authentic Peruvian food and for being my home cooking away from my mom. read more

The ceviche mixto was good but a little underseasoned. They brought out chips for the ceviche but the chips were cheap store bought chips. For a $15 dollar dish they should fry up tortillas. I know thats more of a mexican style but that would make the dish a 5 star dish plus exra seasoning. read more

Came in at 6pm on a Friday night since I was in the area. Place was pretty empty except for three tables. I was seated quickly and given a menu. It took a while for the waitress to get to me so I knew what I wanted. I was going to get the Caldo de Gallina soup at first, but the waitress said that the soup was huge. I settled for the Sopa la Minuta. I ordered the Lomo Saltado Limeno for the main course. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, but wasn't exactly quick. The Sopa la Minuta was decent, and tasted pretty good. The bowl was big. The Caldo de Gallina (sliced steak) was ok and didn't have much flavor despite being eaten with french fries. Overall the food was ok, but nothing special. read more

Delicious! From the passion fruit drink to the Aji de Gallena to dessert......first time eating Peruvian food and it was wonderful. Service was spectacular, restaurant was clean and had a great vibe. Will most definitely be back to try different foods! read more

My wife and I have decided to try Peruvian restaurants in different cities, so as we were returning to Houston from the hill country, we decided to stop in Austin and give Lima Criolla a try. We are glad we did. It was 7:00 pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was nearly empty, so we were seated immediately. We started with a Limean (from Lima) Pork Tamale. Tamales in Peru are much larger and a totally different flavor from Mexican tamales. They are appetizers and served by themselves or with an onion salad. We both liked it. We continued with a Ceviche (or Cebiche) Mixto. It was very flavourful; I still have to get used to cold (as in out of the fridge) fish though. It comes with a small glass with ceviche "juice" which you can drink afterwards. This is very common in Peru and they say a good remedy for hangovers. If you want to learn more about the juice, google "leche de tigre." Next we had a Seafood Tacu Tacu. We have always had Tacu Tacu with Seco de Carne (a type of beef stew) or with Bisteck Apanado (beef milanesa), so we decided to give it a try. Both the Tacu Tacu and the seafood were very tasty on their own; we felt the Tacu Tacu should have been crispier though. When we mixed the flavors, we thought the seafood overpowered the Tacu Tacu, so we ate them separately. My wife also had a hen soup which she enjoyed thoroughly. We will definitely return when we drive by Austin again. read more

We had being holding to make this review as we had being going to this restaurant several times, we love Peruvian food and we though that this was the only place in town for it but thanks God we find others now. We had being having good and bad experiences there from starting with the food to the service and the cleaning that this place offers and has during our different visits to it. The owner Susana is great and everything works better when she is around by when she is not everything fall apart, the servers verily speak English, the food sometimes is good and others not at all. Well, is kinda like taking chances to try Peruvian food crossing your fingers that this time its better. Once again we though that it was the only Peruvian restaurant in town and we keep going there thinking that there were not more options. One time we commented to the owner Susanna about other Peruvian restaurants we went to like in Houston and San Antonio and we got the shiftiest remark from her about her competition even though those are located in other town away from her restaurant. That was not nice let alone professional from her side. The 2 last visits were our last: 1 months ago my husband as usual tried among other dishes the carapulcra and he was trowing up all night and was sick to work next day. We though that it could be something else and we let it go but 2 weeks ago, I tried the ceviche and I started to feel sick and also trow up all day and feel really bad for like 2 days. We went to the doctor and yes, apparently it was the food. I called and ask to speak to the owner Susana to let her know about this last 2 incidents that made us so sick but after 2 messages left with the person whom answered the call, the owner not anyone called us back although I asked whom was the person or persons cooking during those day and if they were Peruvians, well I found out that they are not Peruvians working there nor cooking, except the owners but they don't do the cooking. I was shocked to know that and now I understand why the food sometimes doesn't taste like it should. We also noticed in one of our past visits previous to us getting sick that one of the male cooks after lunch hours was cleaning the bathrooms without cloves and them going back to the kitchen still without cloves. Aghhh seriously? That moment we though of course that he could washed his hands in the kitchen which still aghhh gross and maybe that's why people get sick eating there. We will never ever come back, sorry Susana but your lock of integrity among your competition and for not following up to phone calls about your customers getting sick for eating are your restaurant it's a very bad way of doing business. And yes there are other better Peruvian restaurants in the area which we tried and the taste is wow completely different plus the authentic Peruvians people are cooking them. Be aware of going to this restaurant, if you want to eat popular taste this is the place to go but if you really want to try good Peruvian good please don't cheat your self look in austin south, central and round rock you will be amazed. We traveled to peru 2 times now and we can tell the difference in the taste and quality. Oh by the way most of Lima Criolla reviews are from their friends, family and related people around their owners circle as we had being informed during a get together at a latín/Peruvian event. We do not recommended this restaurant for lock of integrity, professionalism, service, cleanses and so so food. read more

I love Lima Criolla! The food is amazing and Melissa is very helpful and nice, she made my experience wonderful. I recommend the Aji De Gallina ! Can't wait to go back . read more

They have great lunch specials and friendly staff. My favorite dish is aji de gallina limeño. It is hearty and delicious food! Try the slightly spicy yellow sauce. read more

Good service and good food. Had the Lomo a lo pobre and it was very tasty! And don't miss to try the pisco sour, really good cocktail!

Excellent atmosphere tucked into the outskirts of the Highland Mall area. Feels like a loving family business serving eclectic comfort food at reasonable prices (like $5 for a delicious pisco sour). I did not know that creamy alfredo-like noodles were a party of Peruvian cuisine, but now I do. We also tried a spicy seafood soup that came with a huge piece of breaded fish inside. Really nice! They have a huge projector showing soccer matches - will definitely keep that in mind with the World Cup coming up this summer. read more

Sorry, I had such high hopes for this restaurant! IT was one of the worst meals I have eaten out. The food was bland, curious as the air outside always smells wonderful. The beef was tough, not cut across the grain. The chicken, I had asked if it was white meat or dark meat, yes yes white, not! I even got 2 dishes both were not good read more

Frozen French Fries on Lomo Saltado Portion of Meat 7 pieces, My dish was cold, Tacu Tacu stuffed with Seafood. Seafood was tiny pieces from frozen bag from Costco. Empanadas little and Overprice$4 each. Worst experience ever at Peruvian Rest. They messed up my tab. They charged me wrong. Coke in one glass full of ice $4 No kids Menu Stay away dont go there...... read more

Very disappointing especially the service. The price is reasonable but the food presentation lacks imagination. The Pisco sour was good and I wanted to try another but my waiter never stopped by to check on my table. I saw the bartender drinking something at the bar, that's a no no. The servers sit up front checking on there texts and eating, something that should be done out of sight. My wife and I sat at a table for two, yet we were charged a mandatory 18% tip, with space for additional tip. We won't be back. read more

Pisco sour and ceviche took me back to Peru like no other American restaurant has. Thank you!

I've coming to this Peruvian Restaurant for over 3 years. I've always had a great service. But today was the worse day ever. I took my husband to eat for father's day because this is his favorite place to eat at. But a lot has changed since the other waiters aren't working there anymore. The Honduras Guy is great I always ask for his service but I haven't seen him these past weeks. So we went in and all, but we waited 40 minutes to order our drinks and food but no one ever came to our table. So I asked this lady seem to be the manager if we could order our drinks and guess what!! She completely ignored us. She know we come there everyday weekend but didn't care at all. So we walked out and they didn't even apologize. Really rude people. read more

I have enjoyed the food the ceviche was great and the servings are big. Have an appetite when you go.

We ordered mussels. Civiche limoñeo, carapulcra, aji de gallina, perihuela and paella. None disappointed. The premium pisco sours were better than most we had in Peru. I had one without syrup to not spoil my low-carb diet. It was fantastic. We will be back to try EVERYTHING on the menu. read more

Tried a few things. The Causa de Pollo tasted like too much like chicken salad. Heavy on the mayo. The Lomo Saltado was ok. I will be back if only for the seafood and rice (something de mariscos) and the seafood soup (I can't remember that name either). In fact I would go back tomorrow just for that rice dish. read more

So this is my first time here and it was a bit disappointed. First the server and food took a while but it did arrive right and then it was very salty and we used lemons on our food to wash down the salt a bit. On top of that the AC was not on, if it was them the setting was on 80. It was colder outside than it was inside. I've been a good fan on Peruvian food but it seems they need to step it up a few notches especially when they forgot about the green sauce. This restaurant has potential. Can't wait till it reaches it. In a positive side the waitress was wonderful. Thank you. read more

AMAZING food!!!! Ceviche and pisco sour 5 stars!!

Portions vary in size. Meat dishes were a tad on the small side. They serve a grilled beef heart that was fantastic!

DE- LIGHTFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My inner foodie is in ecstasy! I will be exploring this menu for months! Just tried it today for the first time- the prices are beyond reasonable, the service is personable and attentive, the general vibe is casual and welcoming. beyond all that, the food is nothing less than exquisite! BEST empanadas I have ever eaten! I had a plate with grilled shrimp, calamari and breaded fish, fried yucca, 3 dipping sauces, and something like pico de gallo with hominy. FABULOUS and so satisfying I took half of it home for later! We also tried the stuffed mashed potato appetizer that is filled with shredded beef- golden brown and crispy- Oh la la! I am going to be a regular! Close to the ACC highland mall location and affordable on a students budget too! ALSO they have mixed drinks. Hot diggety dog! I LOVE it! read more

The ceviche mixto was onpoint WOW it was good. The parihuela was really good. The ají de gallina was on point. The pisco sour FORGET ABOUT IT. Highly recommend this place read more

Huge spread on the menu, good lunch special. Everybody was more than pleased with their order.

Great and authentic Peruvian food. The beef hearts are perfect. Just like the ones street vendors sell in Cusco.

I had this tallarin saltado and a side of plantains, it was amazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back and try the ceviche. read more

First time visit. On first glance the dining room looked ok, nothing special. But he greeting was a little odd. Three kids behind the bar casually let us know that we can seat ourselves. Some tables needed to be busted, all other empty tables needed to be thoroughly wiped clean. The young lady brought us menus right away, and offered to wipe our table immediately, brought us water and came back to take our order. The food arrived quickly and was pretty tasty. The young lady never bothered to come back to check on us. We finally flagged her down for more water. So, in summary, the food was good. The service, mediocre. No adults were around. read more

Seriously? Four stars? I wonder what everybody else eats in their everyday life. This was probably the worst meal I have had in a very long time. To the point where I couldn't even eat it. The chicken tasted old, the rice was mushy and I'm not sure exactly what it was supposed to be. My palate is pretty Broad but in a nutshell this meal was disgusting I will never be back. And the girl that was waiting on me can not speak English at all. Therefore when you are gluten intolerant I think it's pretty important in today's age for the waitress to be able to speak English and know what gluten is. That's just downright irresponsible if you own a restaurant as far as I'm concerned. read more

Love the Peruvian ceviche. This is a nice place that I will visit again.

Good was very very good. Don't get any kind of fried fish. That wasn't good. But the beef dishes were great and the yuca was awesome. Reason for a 3 is the service was bad. We had to hunt our waiter down two times. We almost had to cover our friends check because she was running out of time after two hours.. read more

After trying Peruvian food in Florida for the first time, I decided to find a local restaurant to take my family to so that they can experience it. After looking on yelp and reading the reviews, I decided to try this location. The staff was very nice but the food was not something I would suggest to anyone. The garlic rice and plantains were good but the other items were not fresh and dry. We ordered two of the Lomo Saltado Limeño and one Arroz con Pollo. The meat seemed as if it was days old noting fresh about it. Maybe if I catch it fresh out of the pot I may have a different opinion. However, I do not plan on going back anytime soon. read more

Lima Criolla Peruvian Restaurant - Latin American Near Me - Austin, Texas

I almost didn't want to write this review, because the food was so amazing! Seriously, I really want to keep this place my own personal Paradise for Peruvian deliciousness. Rogelio had the BEST menu recommendations-seriously, just tell him what you like or don't and he'll tell you what to get. The lunch special is the perfect portion, not quite enough to put you in a food coma, but enough to totally satisfy. Don't forget to save room for dessert, because the Suspiro la limena is something I'm going to dream about and crave for the rest of my life. I can't say enough good things about the food, the service or the home cooked flavors. The meat was so tender it fell off the bone! Seriously, if you don't eat here, you're making a huge mistake! I'm hooked! read more

My wife is a strong beautiful amazing Peruvian. I am a self righteous lazy American who doesn't like any food that doesn't cause heart attacks i.e. triple bacon cheeseburgers etc. But being married to a person who was born and raised in Lima, Peru I took a liking to the cuisine. So this place is legit. I like it. read more

Really great place the highlight was definitely the anticuchos or.. skewered beef heart. Go ahead and be a little adventurous ( try not to be grossed out) and try it. It's tender, succulent and delicious read more

Great Peruvian food. Get the causa limeña, it's outstanding. And unlike every other spot in Austin, the Linc is a little strip mall that's not overcrowded with people. read more

This place brought back so many happy memories of Lima. The anticuchos were delicious and the ceviche limeña was very authentic. I was so excited that they have chicha morada! It's also clean, the service is efficient and friendly, and the price is right. We will be back. read more

Stopped here for an early dinner and a couple of beers. I had the Yuca a la Huancaina to begin. It's very similar to a thick Belgian fry except it is cut from Yuca plant. It came with an interesting dipping sauce. The main course was Pure con Asado which was a beef pot roast. It was excellently prepared with lean slices of beef round cooked until tender but not falling into a mush of beef fiber. The spices were unfamiliar to me but very tasty. It was served over mashed potatoes which were also cooked to perfection. They were smooth and consistent, but still retained a mouth feel that was just a little grainy and packed well on a fork. It was an easy dish to eat, just break off a bite of meat with your fork, drag it through the potato thereby picking up a bit of the sauce. I would then add a dollop of the spicy dipping sauce with my knife and let those marvelous flavors blend in my mouth. The dish also came with a scoop of garlic-rice which was very good, but seemed redundant with all the other starches. I plan to go back to try some of the other selections. read more
