Lily's has the best salad! If your a first timer, i suggest the half Turkey sandwich & half house salad with an iced cold glass of sweet tea. Lily herself is always working and greets everyone who walks in with a smile and a "Welcome!" she also makes this fruit & yogurt parfait dessert that i cant for the life of me recreate. Its so Delicious, i cant even Begin to describe it. All i know is that my mouth and stomach leave very happy. The only downfalls about this place are that its pretty pricey, they only take cash, they have really odd hours of operation, parking is hard to find & the place is WAY tiny. There isn't a lot of yummy/healthy lunch spots in Burbank, therefore when I'm in the mood to grab a healthy lunch in Burbank I always go to Lily's cafe. The sandwiches are incredible, the chili is to die for, and the atmosphere is really nice. This is by far the best lunch spot in Burbank! Downtown Burbank seems to be filled with restaurants with sub-par food - lacking in taste and originality. Lily's is a nice refreshing change from all the chain restaurants there are in Burbank, and in a city a near you. Soups and salads change daily, sandwiches are the same everyday. Here's a list of some of my favorites (in no particular order): 1. Turkey Chili-This is probably a must try at Lily's, especially on a cold gloomy day. It's warm, meaty, and oh so tasty. The flavor of Lily's Turkey Chili is on point! You can also get it Lily's style (with cheese and onions). 2. Vegetarian Sandwich-I am no vegetarian, but this sandwich is so good! The brie cheese gives the sandwich such a creamy texture. The basil and fresh veggies cuts through the heaviness of the brie and gives the sandwich such great flavor! 3. Smoked Salmon Sandwich- This ones without-a-doubt my favorite sandwich! The smoked salmon is always so fresh and they have the perfect amount of cream cheese. Must try!! 4. Lentil Soup- All of Lily's soups are good, but whenever Lentil is on the menu I always seem to have to get it. Just like most of Lily's soups, you can probably have it by itself as a meal. This soup has a middle eastern, almost curry like, undertone to it. So tasty and filling! 5. Wild Rice Salad- Who doesn't want a salad made of rice?! Lily recommended I get it with a scoop of tuna, avocado, and red onions, and boy am I glad I did. It was so good! The salad itself has some chopped veggies and wild rice. I tasted a little hint of sesame oil, but didn't get a change to ask Lily about it. Again...this is a must try! 6. Lily's Ice Tea- You have to get one at least once. Citrus-y and fresh! I get mine "no sugar". These were just a few of my favorite things... The reason why I give Lily's a 4/5 star rating is that the price seems to be kind of high. With all the recommendations she makes sometimes, your price for lunch can easily be upwards of $15. No doubt the food is fresh and good, but beware it is not cheap. Oh yeah! And they're CASH ONLY, so please don't be that guy that orders, finds out it's cash only, and then complains about it being cash only. I've been going to Lily's Cafe since starting work in the neighborhood years ago. Lily's has been the same pleasant place serving good fresh food since I first visited. It's best to arrive early (or late) if you want to get a table for lunch, and if you are ordering to go then call it in and arrive when Lily tells you your order will be ready. You might have to wait a few minutes, but the pleasant service and delicious food is worth the wait. Salads, sandwiches and soups are fresh and healthy, and you might want to save room for one of Lily's delicious desserts. I'd visit more often if I could use my credit card there! read more

Lily's rice salad is absolutely delicious. I get it with tuna and avocado. It is a cornucopia of yummy stuff and impossible to reproduce at home. I don't know how she does it. Also, her lentil soup is amazing. It is like dhal, but unique. Her clam chowder is the best. I think Wednesdays are rice salad days. If you come a bit after the lunch rush, it is easier to get a table. Bring cash. Totally worth it. I used to park a block down in the structure before I realized she had spots in the back. Lily is awesome! The food here is the freshest you will find anywhere. My wife is a freshness freak and Lily's passes the test with flying colors. This place is amazing! Very cute and very small. I got the 1/2 sandwich and soup, it was only ~10 for a delicious, healthy, and very filling lunch. (watch out though, this place is cash only!) I got the lentil soup which was so so good. Very filling and kept me going all afternoon. The Turkey sandwich was also delicious, I've never heard of roasted peppers and basil on a turkey sandwich, but it is life changing. At the suggestion of the boss, I picked up lunch for him, myself and another employee. I had the tuna sandwich. It was great! And for $8.95, a great deal considering it was big enough for two meals. That didn't stop me from eating the whole thing in one sitting, because it was yummy! The bread was really good. The boss got a half sandwich combo and thought it was a whole sandwich, because it was big. My co- worker got a salad, and wished she would have asked for the dressing on the side...note for future. I figure it was time for me to write a review on this on Lily Cafe, as ever time my friend come town they want to go to Lily's. But often times, they forget until its already closed. We always enjoy the sweet ice tea and someone always orders a turkey sandwich. My friend that visit more often then me always goes for the soup and sandwich combo. You must have patience as the place can get crowded due to the limited hours of operation, but that what makes it a treat! I can totally see how this place could come off being horrible. It is small, 1-2 employees, simple food, cash only (gulp!). If you don't get there early to sit down you are screwed. I fortunately had an Ok experience. I was told it was a great quaint soup and sandwich place. We went on a rainy day and sat at the window, which was nice. I ordered half sammie and soup. My girlfriend half sammie and pasta salad. Needless to say both our side dishes were a bit lacking in the flavor dept. The sandwiches saved the meal. Lily herself waited on us and she was cordial enough, however never really warmed up even when we made jokes. I think I need to order something different next time I go, maybe a specialty of hers. Also, if I become a repeat customer, maybe one day she will laugh with me instead of just looking like she wants me to pay and leave. The worst was having to go across the street in the rain to the ATM, pay a fee and then go back and give her the cash. This was such an inconvenience, it will definitely affect the next time i choose a lunch destination, which means it might be awhile until I see Lily again....... read more

Just ate there today. Lilly has superb Ice Tea, so good in face I would pay to have the recipe. Her 18 bean is also good, please give me the recipe for your 18 bean Lilly and her lentil is good. She also has nice deserts. I love this place.... turkey sandwich is great too. Its a nice little cafe with good food, the best as Lilly herself would say. I can always take friends or family there and be sure they will have a good meal. But the ice tea...OMG. I think compared to American food the Armenian spices make it different. Also its made by hand, not just taken out of a box or a can like allot of American restaurants do. You'd be surprised how much frozen stuff is being served to us in restaurants. Lilly please consider putting out a cook book with your recipes. I don't love the fact that its cash only and I would in fact go more often if she accepted credit cards.
