They go above and beyond here for customer service. I came here to pick up a cake for my mom's birthday. I came here because I saw they had a pandan cake but when I walked in, they only had one left in a design that seemed too young for my mom. The cake was a beach/mermaid design and my mom was turning 49, not exactly the most age appropriate. I asked if there was something that could be done to make it a bit more appropriate for my mom. The lady at the counter offered to add a flower on top and to take off the sea shells. I was happy with that and thanked them. They asked me to wait 5 minutes so I sat down to wait. The lady from the counter brought me a beignet to snack on while I wait-how sweet!! The lady from the counter then came back and said that the baker in the back will just assemble a new cake for me since they had everything they needed already to make the cake. I was so touched by their kindness! They made me a new cake in the pandan flavor that I had driven out for and they decorated it beautifully for my mother. The cake was a hit at dinner! My mom was blown away by how beautiful the cake was and then happily surprised by the pandan flavoring and little slices of jello in it. We also shared the cake with some of the restaurant staff and they chased us down on our way out to ask about where we got the cake and asked to take a picture of the name and address of the bakery. Overall, the cake was beautiful and tasted great. The service was impeccable. And the ambiance of the bakery itself makes you feel like you're in a cute little French cafe. There were lots of people there in the morning many of whom were smoking, so I didn't stick around and had to leave as soon as I got my food since the smoke made me very uncomfortable. From a price point perspective the beignets are super affordable with 4 for $2.75. But as far as taste and texture, the beignets were very disappointing. Last year my sister bought some beignets from here to share. Loved it. This time we went ourselves. We got Vietnamese coffee and 4 piece beignet. If possible maybe ask for it fresh, when we ordered there was half a dozen in the hot window. The cashier started to grab it after we ordered but another associate said they'd make it fresh. These are by far my favorite beignets to get around here. I do really like the Disneyland ones but those are a lot thicker inside which makes you get full off of 1/2 pcs. If you like a thinner type beignet this one is definitely delicious and you can eat way more! We got the 4 pc for 3.25 so extremely inexpensive as well! Its super tight inside as that's just the layout of the bakery. But lots of regulars like to sit outside and just relax and hangout. Went here out of recommendation from my aunt that the cake is good by Vietnamese standards aka "not too sweet; just right and moist". She was right! I first wanted a custom cake and they gave me a quote within 5 min (if you can provide inspo images) but it was out of my budget which is fine; I understand the effort for custom cake. So Here's what I'd recommend to stay within budget. 1. Speak Vietnamese if you could. They can speak English too but their native tongue allow them to work with you and give you more options. 2. Select their standard cake on display inside their fridge. I got a round cake that they said feed about 15 people ended up feeding about 35.. lol. But extra cake is never a problem! 3. Once you pick the one you like ask them to switch up basic color and flavor. Remember to keep it simple and not "customized". So my original cake was pandan flavor with green frosting. I asked for mixed berry with blue frosting. Tell them your event/theme. Sometimes they ended up making it so cute for you! Mine was gender reveal and standard cake just had flowers but they ended up adding tiny baby bottles for decor and I thought it was so personal and made me feel special. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Turn around time was quick. Less than 48 hours from ordering time. Mixed berries were fresh. Cake was moist. Frosting wasn't too sweet. Decor was on point. Would definitely go back!! My picky Vietnamese family LOVED it. read more
