I have become a regular here, and every gel manicure lasts me three weeks even when I am cooking, gardening and beaching it. I'm military so being new to Norwich and meeting friendly people in the community, I totally thought the businesses would be the same way. Until walking into Lily nails! I will never, ever go back!!! I have never met such unprofessional and entitled people!!! I paid for a manicure & polish that is $30. The manicure never happened. I never dipped my hands in water nor received a hand massage. Not even a lick of lotion. They simply filed my nails and half-way polished them. After the 15 minutes of doing my nails, they charged my card $31.91. The nail tech asked was I tipping, I politely said no. The nail tech then tried to hold my debit card until I paid. Again, I nicely said I was not paying, she called a man (I'm assuming the owner) and he came over and asked me to give a tip. After numerous times of saying I'm not paying a tip, I blurted out the service was not worth it. She finally gave me my card back, but I totally feel embarrassed, humiliated, and bullied. I know that Norwich is a small community, but I will definitely be looking for a more professional place to do my nails even if I have to travel out of town. If I could leave this review without stars I totally would. I have been here several times and have NEVER felt more uncomfortable and un-welcome as I did today. I called around 1030 and requested a dip manicure and pedicure at 1130 and was told ok. When I arrive at 1130, I was asked to pick a color and which desk to sit down at for my manicure, I mentioned that I was also getting a pedicure and received a blank stare. Would have totally been ok if they said they didn't have time or accommodate. So I proceeded to the pedicure chair I was told to and waited 10 minutes before anyone even asked me anything. Totally would have been ok however, the one employee proceeded to raise her voice and throw things around. You could completely tell that my pedicure was an issue for her. Two other customers walked in at this point and said they had pedicure appointments and she left my chair and went to them. Already feeling completely uncomfortable with the situation this made it totally worse. I finished my pedicure with the gentlemen who agreed to do it and had them remove my existing dip and left it at that. Losing me as a customer wont hurt your business but please do better! We may not know what is being said but body language, tossing things and obvious tension are not good customer service! read more

Do not recommend going here. I was rushed to pick a color, then she picked one for me before I could see the options. She cut me twice to the point of bleeding during the service. My nails are uneven, bumpy, and extremely messy. I asked for a design and she did something completely different and sloppy. When paying way too much for the service I received I tried to give a $10 tip and I was pushed to give 15%. She mentioned changing it twice as I wrote the amount on the line. So rude! Some of the personnel that work there. Just had my nails done on Wednesday last week, it's been a week. One of my nails broke, which it happens. But it should not brake so easily. I'm a regular at Lily's, very nice people and I like the atmosphere. It's better to go on a slow day though because they don't rush doing your nails and if you are doing a walk in they won't say "no time" which they do a lot, but it is a busy place. There's one girl I don't like doing my nails because she once filed my nails too much and I constantly have to ask her to fix my nails, but she always seems to get me as a customer because they will switch spots multiple times. A good nail salon, I would suggest to only getting your nails done here and don't do their eyelash extensions. read more

I hate to leave bad reviews and as you can see from my reviews I'm very fair. However, the service at this nail establishment was far from par. I came in after work as I was in the area for a dip set of nails.. I wanted a full set acrylics but they charge 60 dollars, what... I was told a short week and then they proceeded to seat a girl with no appointment for a pedicure before me and serve her when she came twenty minutes after me. I was passed along from different nail techs throughout the process and asked to move chairs. My nails were not shiny and cuticles were a mess. I asked woman to redo the shine as it was not good. She re-did just to make a mess again. I went back in after leaving to fix after realizing the nails were uneven. The woman filed them and they were still uneven again. Spending almost 2 hours in this establishment for a full set dip I left disgruntled and annoyed. Not to mention they charge additional to use a credit card on my 40 dollar purchase!!! Ok so. I heard amazing things about this place so I told my friend I'd go with her because she always had a good experience but we're BOTH upset about what happened yesterday. I'll be leaving photos to show that 9 out of my ten nails have imperfections. I first had an issue when I told her my nails weren't the same lengths. She tried to show me they were but I showed her they weren't. She "fixed" everyone I asked but they still aren't the same length and from her trying to talk me out of it I didn't feel comfortable with saying anything again. Then when the acrylic was put on looking like lumps I told the man (they kept switching people also which didn't seem right to me) & he said it would be filed away. I was patient and they seemed better after filing but now I can see they're still too thick and also! It looks like they're already grown out because they didn't put the acrylic far back enough. It's not blended on any nail and they're all too thick and look overgrown when it's only been one day. MY FRIEND. Got gems on her nails and 2 have already fallen off and her also aren't fully filled in. Every salon I've been to makes sure the cuticles are pushed back to properly blend the acrylic to the real nail but this place didn't do that & seemed offended when I wanted something fixed. While I was there someone also came in saying the false $50 eyelash extensions were hanging off her face. I'm so disappointed and I wish I didn't go there but lesson learned. I used to get pedicures here before the mall renovations. A friend and I came in seated and given the only choices of $35.00 up! We both just wanted the basic $25.00 pedicure the ladies seemed disappointed. They were both so fast no leg massages and we both had rough areas left on the bottoms of our feet and toes. They did give a short back massage when sat to dry toenails. Never came over to check how we were doing since i paid right away. We definitely will go elsewhere next time. I have to say this place used to be good but the last time I went in I came out with paper thin nails, in pain from the drill they used directly on my thin natural nails and covered in scabs around my finger nails even after saying that it hurt and they continued to bloody up my hands. I used to go here religiously because of the good service, the color range and the prices. No more. If you want to come out looking like you have Wolverine hands then this is your place. I couldn't even work the next day (I work in software so I'm typing away all day/using my hands) since my hands were so bloody, tender and sore. I am never going back when I could have paid way less for a pedicure or did it at home myself. My trip to this salon was the worst experience I've ever had. I called ahead to make an appointment for an acrylic fill and when I arrived they had no record of it. After finally finding the colors I wanted, she started filing my nails. She filed them to the length I wanted, yet the she never compared my two hands so I have one really long pointer and pinky nail and short ones on the other hand. As she was filing, she kept filing my skin and I left with uneven, nails and two bloody fingers. After making my fingers bleed, she got acetone into the cuts, and even decided to stop in the middle of my appointment to pull out her phone and make a personal phone call. The experience was unpleasant and painful. There was no reason for me to leave with bloody fingers from a fill. I don't recommend going to this salon at all. read more

Disappointing experience today. My daughter's nails already chipped off and she only had them painted today. Ridiculous. I did SNS nails and was talked into a color the technician insisted would match my toes which it did not. She also was on the rough side, I had to pull my hand and feet away twice. My nails don't look smooth, I see several imperfections on several different nails. They look messy with staining on my cuticles. Spent over 100 there today and do not feel that it was money well spent. I have had positive experiences there in the past but the last two visits did not meet expectations. read more

Never have I experienced a service this bad. I walked in and asked for a NEW dip set. At first you see if I have tips on or not. Then you soak it. She for thirty five minutes was filing down the old set and made me bleed I kid you not six times. After I noticed the timing I asked her if she was taking them all off (you clearly at this point can tell I have tips on) and she did not understand what I said. I then said "you can just clip all of the tips off so it's easier." The owner came over and asked what I said so I repeated myself. The owner said "Ohkay no problem." The girl doing my nails then clipped the tips off and proceeded to put new tips on. THE OLD NAILS WEREN'T EVEN OFF! I was done so I said just take the old set off I don't want to get my nails done. As I'm walking out I stopped at the counter and the owner said and I quote "sorry but it's going to be five dollars." They do not know what they are doing. I've been to several nail salons in the area and it has never been this bad. The girl doing my nails doesn't understand anything at all and the owner does not care about customers at all!! read more

My wife has been maybe a dozen times or so. Only once did she have a less than great job that needed repairing a few days after the service (which they did immediately and gladly at no extra charge). Was looking forward to a nice pedicure, get some designs on nails, etc. It's very clean and well staffed. Only problem is that it was very difficult communicating with them, very little English. Prices are a little bit higher than what I'm used to, but not terrible. So now about the design on nails. They have on display very nice airbrush designs, but when I asked for it, I got stickers that you place on nails. The stuff you can buy regular store. So ok. It's not the end of the world, not what I wanted, but hey. Then I noticed after he was done that the stickers don't even match. When I told the staff they just replied, "it's ok. No match." So now I'm stuck with non-matching stickers. If you are a lady you know exactly why I'm not happy about this. Will continue to look for a nail place in Norwich area. Usually go to Hyacinth in Meriden. They are great. They just don't do pretty designs on nails. read more

Worst nail salon experience of my life. Had to wait about 10 minutes when I had an appointment because it was so busy and they kept taking new customers when they couldn't handle them. I was asked multiple times which special spa pedicure I wanted which were $35+ and I had to repeat myself over and over saying "I don't want any of those, I just want a regular pedicure" which is $25. The man who did my pedicure acted like he didn't understand what I was saying. I can see how someone could be easily fooled into paying more money because of this. My pedicure was rushed and not thorough. It took maybe 10-15 minutes when other salons would give me at least 30 minutes of their time for a pedicure. After I dried my toenails I noticed there was polish all over my toes and imperfections in the polish on my nails. I had them fix it a little bit but was still very unsatisfied. I could've done a better job at home for free. Gave no tip. All they care about is money. The whole time the only words the employee taking care of me said to me were "which pedicure do you want?" to try to get me to spend more money and "you will pay now?" as soon as I sat down to dry my nails. Go somewhere else where they value the customer over profit. Classy Nails in Colchester is so much better. I will NEVER step foot in this place again. read more

This place is horrible. Very disappointed. It was busy, but that is no excuse for the type of service they provide. I got a pedicure and had an appointment but still had to wait about fifteen minutes, which was no problem. They rushed through the whole pedicure. Probably lasted less than ten minutes total. They kept trying to sell me the special spa pedicures which were very expensive, even after I told her multiple times that I just wanted the normal pedicure. Did not cut my nails or file them so they were all crooked. Also did not trim my cuticles. They slapped some lotion on my legs and put polish on. Didn't even do two coats of polish. Very messy with the polish. This pedicure cost $25 which is outrageous for the job they did!! Could have done a better job myself at home for free. My experience was very upsetting and I will never come back again. They should not be able to run a business like this!! read more

I used to love Lily's Nails, the folks were friendly, professional and clean. The last two times, I had to ask for them to get clean tools from the autoclave, a new file and yup a new paper towel. Today, I was seated in a chair at a station and waited 15 minutes ( I didn't have an appointment). Eventually a man sat down and began my gel French White Manicure. Instead of roughing up my prior polish with the clean file I requested, then soaking off my old polish, he began filing the tops of my already thin nails. Instead of using the cutter on the cuticle clipper, he pulled at the skin with the clippers. He said nothing to me while he barked orders to the other technicians. At the end of my service, he put the dirty tools back in the drawer and neatly folded my used paper towel and placed it in there as well. Gross. Never again. And nails don't even look that great. FYI, they prefer you pay with cash so they don't charge you tax unless you use your card. Incentive to them is less reported income so less income tax to the state and if you get an infection from dirty tools, no proof you were there since there are no receipts. read more
